Now onto things.
As Topaz ran at top speed lion at his side he couldn't help but feel nervous and angry, on one hand all the people he was dying to meet were gonna be there but they were gonna be in danger. That was the angry but as for nervous he couldn't help it, he didn't fear this imposter gem who'd stolen his name in fact he welcomed the chance to fight him but what really bothered him was everyones reactions, sure he was a fusion but one thing would be clear is that he definitely wasn't Steven or Diamond.(1) "you know we're right here right?" Topaz rolled his eyes looking over to the two crystal golems riding on Lion. "I know but i can't help it, i never thought i'd meet them like this." Steven was to busy looking at his crystal body make sense of anything else.
"How did you do this?" Diamond looked down at Steven sitting up front. "Your mother had a similar ability didn't she, she made plants grow to fight for her? Well this is the power that came from." Steven nodded it made sense all his mothers and by extension his powers were just altered versions of the one Diamond used to have so maybe creating animated bodies and putting their minds in it wasn't to much of a stretch. "Anyway do we have a plan?" Diamond shrugged before closing his eyes. "I can see everything in the robot it has five floors that are workable the rest is tech to keep it all running, the first floor is the head, second the high parts of the chest and its where they're keeping our friends and everyone in town. Third is living quarters in the abs, where they're keeping Lapis." Steven stiffened before sighing in relief. "Fourth is the pelvis where the gem they made from my shards is doing, well i dont know what. Somethings interfering with my magic sight there. However i know he has several creatures in there." Diamond looked down at Lion.
'Where the heck have you been all this time?' Diamond gripped Lion's mane tighter. 'Could he be trying to use conversion?' Diamond decided he didnt want to know that conversion was nasty stuff.
False diamond blanched as he threw the thing out of the robot cursing as he went. "Disgusting, it looked like an exploded pig, but i'm sure it was a squirrel when i started."
Diamond leaned over dry heaving as phantom nausea built up. Conversion was nasty but that begged the question, how did Rose make it work? Diamond decided that wasn't an issue right now so he shoved it to the back of his mind. "What happened to us if we shatter as is?" Topaz shrugged honestly not knowing. "Got it, so Steven i need you to do something for me, don't die." Topaz looked at Diamond a deadpan expression on his face as Lion swerved out of the way of a large rock. "Uh Topaz there's a-" Topaz smashed through the rock without breaking pace or even twitching as he continueed to stare at Diamond. "You know what never mind." Diamond clapped his hands together before transforming his arm into a cannon and blasting it ahead of them. "Hm alright were twenty miles away and closing in fast." Lion and Topaz Skid to a halt before they fell off the cliff they had been running along.
The barren rocky terrain gave way to a giant canyon that streched farther than either could see with several rock towers so large and high they streched up from the canyon and a few hundred feet into the sky above it. "There." Topaz pointed off to the side where they could feel minute footsteps that vibrated the dirt beneath their feet, there it was. "Topaz, go on ahead, and make one awesome entrance." Topaz smiled reaching into lion's mane.
False diamond smirked, he smirked long and hard at the creature before him, he'd done it he'd managed conversion. Meanwhile Jasper set down Peridot on the bed it was an odd thing given Gems didn't need to sleep but perhaps she enjoyed doing it. Jasper was hard pressed to understand why but she hoped she'd wake up soon. She left that room and left to another one opening a door to show a holding cell with three energy walls and a single metal one. In it sat one blue gem staring at the hard wall. "Lapis." Another person Jasper began to see in a different light after all this time. After being seperated jasper had retreated into her gem to gather her sanity and she found herself impressed with Lapis, she wasn't weak not in the way so many were. Physically she was hardly but her will her will was great, Jasper may not have been sane during the fusion but she could feel it her power and consciousness being taken from her tore and ripped as she fought uselessly.
Malachite was ripping and breaking them but Lapis held her back held both of them back with her will alone. Jasper may not have liked Lapis, like she hated Rose Quarts, but she respected them. Jasper didn't know why she came here, she supposed she should hate Lapis but try as she might she lacked hatred. "What do you want?!" Her voice was quiet but powerful and Jasper actually stumbled with her words before Lapis brushed her away. "If you don't have anything to say then leave." Jasper didn't know why but a sense of urgency gripped her. "We captured the gems." She wanted to punch herself for that. Lapis seemed hopeful and something in Jasper made her sick to her stomach knowing it was about to crumble.
"Unfortunately, Rose was a Causality." There it was, the moment to stuck home and detonated. Jasper felt something was it shame, self loathing, anger she didn't know but one thing was sure, it didn't feel good. Lapis just seemed to shut down for a second and she almost was her flicker as if she was disrupted. Then her face went blank and she just stared, that thousand yard star that Jasper had seen in so many gems in, her own eyes. Jasper awkwardly stepped away from the cell moving to leave but Lapis wasn't listening or seeing her leave. Her water wings appeared and disrupted falling as gravity took hold and splashed onto the ground. Lapis dropped to her knees and the water moved taking Steven's form before placing it's hand on her shoulder. Lapis hugged it like it was her lifeline and Jasper didn't notice a tear slide down her cheek.
Then the whole robot started shaking.
"what was that!?" Greg buckled and fell along with many other humans as the robot seemed to tip before righting itself. They were suspended in a cage with bars on all four sides only the ceiling and floor being solid with four beams attached to the top keeping it in the air. The gem were on the opposite side of the room in the same set up but with energy fields instead of bars. "Do you think we got hit by something?!" Connie nearly fell when the robot tipped again but her parents steadied her. The sound of metal groaning and bending was heard as dents appeared on one side of the room the one leading away from the elevators before a hand punched through. The person wiggled the hand before pulling it out and punching again making the hole larger. More groaning was heard a terrible sound as the metal was bent and twisted into a large enough hole to let the person in.
He was tall though not to unusually so maybe a little shorter than Garnet, he wore a skin tight dark blue jumpsuit with pink accents going from his armpits down to his legs. Over the jump were light blue armored pieces covering his forearms, shins, feet, and chest. His shoulders were bare but he turned his head and looks at Garnet a small smile on his face before his shoulders glowed and the same shoulder pads though they seemed less oval shaped and more like fins(2) His face with the exception of his mouth and nose was completely covered though light slightly tanned skin the same shade as Steven's was visible. The rest was covered by by a light blue helmet that hid his hair and ears, his eyes were covered by a five sided red star that fused to the rest of the helmet. Garnet raised and eyebrow noting the purple ten sided star in the center of his chest. "Phew you're all here." Topaz reached behind his back pulling out Rose's sword from its position in the scabbard attached to the back of his armor and began spinning it as it hovered by his hand.
"who to free first?" Topas flung the pinning sword at the human cage making it drop before manipulating gravity to slow its descent he did the same to the gem cage before walking over and sticking his hand thorough. "Cooooooommmmmmeeeee oooooooooooonnnnnnnn!" Topaz tried to stop shaking as it shocked him but his human side was tingling badly. The gems stepped though quickly going over to the human cage Garnet grabbed and pulled but found the metal nearly comepletely unyeilding even with the left over power from Blue Diamond. "Wow this most be strong stuff if you can't bend it that much." Garnet huffed before moving aside slightly urked. "By all means." Topaz got nervous his words had messed up his entrance. "Really ugh okay." Topaz tugged and they groaned before bending under his strength like paper clips. 'That wasn't nearly as hard as i thought, HOW STRONG AM I?!'
Topaz decided it was a question for later as he called his sword back to his hand and made a few more slices to see if the sword was okay. "Huh actually feels sharper." He sheathed it before finishing and allowing everyone to pile out. "Follow me!" Topaz ran towards the entrance he made just as the door opened and Jasper came through. "What?!" Jasper couldn't blink before Topaz had closed the distance and kicked her in the chest hard enough to dispell her. "Lets go!" Everyone suddenly got over their sgock and did as he said. Topaz moved back to the hole he made and began to pry it farther open making it so everyone could hussle through one problem though. "How are we suppossed to get out form here?!" Amethyst was right the robot was trashed by him but it was still standing and they were still several hundred feet in the air.
Topaz rolled his eyes before rocks exploded out the side of the cliffside and wove themselves into A solid stone path that lead to solid ground. "I dont know maybe by walking." Topaz shrugged wondering where that came from before gesturing for the, to go. "And what will you be doing while we're escaping?" Topaz shrugged. "Covering your escape, plus there are more gems to save, maybe two or three if you get me." Garnet could sware he winked at her before he went to the elevator and pushed a button. "Lets go!" Everyone scrambled before runnig Connie in the lead and Greg covering the back.
Topaz rolled his shoulders feeling the kinks in them relax from the motion, it was odd but he would swear he could hear three different gem signatures that still needed help. Lapis was the obvious one but the other two were escaping him he moved his foot and noticed Jasper's gemstone on the elevator floor and picked it up. It was a bad move as suddenly flashes of war destruction and pain shot through him and he felt emotions mpnot his own play through his mind. 'ROSE QUARTS!' Topaz shudded before gripping Jasper's gem as gently as he could trying to reach out to her. He didn't know why he was trying to use his power to ease the pain he could feel but something in him just told him to help her. It was weird but it was right. Briefly he wondered why Jasper of all people was in pain but then he remembered what Jasper had said to Steven about the war and like a flood gate it all rushed him.
Topaz felt his heart clench like a heart attack as he felt the full wait of the emotions he didn't know existed and brought him to his knees in anguish. His mind filled with visions of gems dying shattered by a mighty blow or a blast of light. Then when it all stopped he heard crying, sad pained crying. Topaz could feel tears and realized Jasper was crying and he was crying with her. He didn't stop to wonder why, the steven part the diamond part and the part that was all him were all weeping as one. The elevator stopped and Topaz moved to the side getting out and locking in on Lapis' gem energy. Topaz stopped before looking at the gem in his hand before setting it down and pumping a little energy into it to hasten her regeneration. 'There's no such thing as a good war.' Topaz took off running.
(1) I find this line wholly ironic because i made Topaz's personality to be a mix of Steven and Diamond except missing what could be they're biggest faults hes steven without the Naivety and Diamond without the world weariness. Which is an interesting mix.

Authors notes. I'd like to show that Topaz has a few powers of his own like telepathy and strong empathy which he gets from both sides of it. He's also got several powers neither Steven, Rose, or Diamond have because really nothing else like Topaz exist.
