Tap tap. Tap tap. Tap. Her fingernails dance against her desk. Tap tap. Tap.
She glanced at the door, around the office, up to the clock.
The hands couldn't POSSIBLY tick any slower.
She took a sip of the sugary, caffeinated soda on her desk, because that was totally gonna help with how jumpy she was.
She turned back to her laptop, hoping Sam and Callen couldn't sense her antsy tendencies. Sadly, only a moment later, Sam opened his mouth.
"You okay Kensi?"
"Yeah, fine," she tried to deny.
"You sure, you've been a little jumpy today." Callen smirked at her, and she wanted to hide behind her laptop screen. When she didn't reply, he looked at Sam and said, "She misses him."
Kensi wanted to scream.
She hadn't seen Deeks in two months, as Max had gone undercover. Hetty had informed her (and only her, the little woman was trying to earn some points back with her female agent) that his operation was complete, and he should be back at the NCIS office around 3.
And damn, she couldn't wait.
She was extremely pissed off that Callen and Sam were going to sit here and tease her. She never had older (or younger, for the matter) brothers to tease her about the boys she dated, but she hated it. Because Deeks, Deeks didn't deserve to be teased.
She opened her mouth, and before she knew it, she was letting Sam and Callen have it.
"I do, I do miss him. And can you blame me? He's the only person who makes me happy, and I deserve that, I…" she paused, realizing how much of a scene she's making. "He told me I deserve that."
Out of the corner of her eye, she sees him, standing in the doorway. She thinks she's seeing things, but when she turns her head, there he is.
Neither Callen or Sam say a word when she stands up, crossing the room toward him. He drops his bags and opens his arms to her. She latches on to him, taking in the sight and smell of him. She feels her feet lift off the ground, and she's gone. She doesn't care if Callen and Sam see it. She doesn't care if people stare.
He's home.
