A/n: Nope, I'm not back. Nope, didn't edit this once. Haven't even read back over it. It has been done eight million times. I apologize for this.

He's running around the store cursing himself. He couldn't have possibly fucked this day up any more.

He woke up early, started a pot of coffee and took Monty out for his morning stroll.

He felt the little velvet box in his pocket. It felt heavy, like it carried the weight of the world. It at least carried the weight of his world. It was a reminder that today was the day that his life was about to get a whole lot better, or a whole lot worse.

He slipped the box in his pocket because he knew if he didn't start mentally preparing himself now, he'd chicken out before night's end and put it back in the drawer until the next time he felt brave enough. Not because he didn't want to marry her with all his heart, but for fear that she wouldn't want to marry him.

There's no doubt in his mind that she loves him. There may have been before, but not now. She wanted to be bold with him. She's showed him, many many times how much she loves him. Her forgiveness for the deceit of the Internal Affairs investigation shows him how much she loves him. But he kind of doubts her willingness to wear a wedding ring and change her last name.

But her and her cupcake girls did talk a hell of a lot about fantasy engagements, and she's got a subscription to just about every bridal magazine that exists.

He's got nothing to worry about, but his everything is on the line.

Upon returning from their walk, he releases Monty from his leash. He was still lost in his thoughts as he reached up into the cupboard to grab their two coffee mugs.

Okay, he thought. Super casual. Don't be weird. Wake her up, hand her her coffee in her favorite mug. Cuddle, feed her. Watch all her favorite movies. Ask her if she wants to get all dressed up and go out. Wine and dine her. Bring her back home, appreciate her dress. One knee...

While his head was eight million miles ahead of him, he fumbled around with the mugs. Kensi's fell from the cabinet, hitting the floor and shattering.

His heart stopped. What a great way to begin a marriage, with her wanting him dead.

He falls to the ground, collecting the broken pieces of her mug. Her Wonder Woman mug. It was completely destroyed, and no amount of super glue was going to be able to fix that.

In a panic, he swept up the floor. He peeked his head into their bedroom, and heard one of her adorable snort-snores, and knew he was out cold. He pulled on his shoes and made a mad dash for the Dollar Store.

He's not sure if he thought that finding the exact same mug would be easy or if he was operating on pure fear, but as he roamed the aisle where he'd bought the mug in the first place, he'd had no luck. No Wonder Woman mug.

He thought about the way she'd laughed and kissed his jaw when she'd opened it, responding with, "I love it, thanks baby." And she'd meant it too. It was one of the first things that had gravitated its way over to his house, long before they moved in together. When she didn't go to Starbucks in the morning, that mug was how she got her caffeine fix.

He was about to accept defeat when his eye caught a pink pastel little mug, a purple bird on the side. It was no Wonder Woman, but when he read it, it clicked to him. His Ladybird made it all worth it.

He bought the mug and hoped she wouldn't kill him.

The coffee didn't taste too shitty (actually, it did) when he got back home, despite having sat a while. He adjusted the temperature, and washed her new mug out in the sink, before pouring the both of them coffee.

She strolled into the kitchen as he poured, and his heart was racing. The box in his pocket reminded him why he didn't want to die today.

"Hey, what's got you up so early. I was looking forward to Saturday morning snuggles." She was wearing short shorts and a tank top and her voice was just as beautiful.

"I was just, um, making coffee, and I took Monty on a walk. There will definitely be time for Saturday morning snuggles."

She furrowed her eyebrows. "Something wrong Deeks? You're acting weird."

"Yeah," he paused. "I dropped your mug."

"My Wonder Woman mug?"

"Yeah."

"That was my favorite mug."

"I know. I'm so sorry. I went to the store to try to find a new one, but I couldn't." He turned to grab the new mug and hand it to her. "I know its not the same, I'm so sorry Kens, but..."

She took a moment to read it, and pulled it to her lips for a sip of the coffee.

love beyond words

His heart was stopped as he waited for a response.

"You know the only reason I had any sort of attachment to that mug is because you gave it to me, right?"

His heart started beating again. "Really? You're not going to kill me?"

"No, Deeks. I'm not going to kill you. I'd miss you too much." She looked back at the mug. "This is an incredibly cheesy replacement mug. But its also kinda romantic and totally you so I kind of like it."

He couldn't honestly form words.

"Deeks, you look like you've seen a ghost. What's wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong."

"Yes there is. You're freaking me out. Talk to me."

There it is. His leap of faith. This wasn't how he'd planned it, but it'll have to do. There's no where he'd rather be than this moment with her.

He pulled the box from his pocket and fell to one knee.
