What's up everybody! Now that the final battle is over what will become of Roshan after his serious injury. Do me a favor: sit back, relax, and enjoy the chapter!
When I'm asleep, I normally think of one thing that's good about my day. It might be difficult and you might think that there's nothing, but, however a bad day has been, there's only one thing, even if it's tiny, that has been good, and sometimes it can be helpful to remind yourself of that as you fall asleep. I gotta tell you, I was one heavy sleeper. Normally, it would be as if you're sleeping for a whole night and wake up to a whole new day. But this nap was like no any other ordinary naps I had taken in a long time. One thing for sure at that very moment I started waking up…everything around me smelled like tuna.
Opening my eyes is the hardest thing I've ever done. Blinking can feel like hell, it takes long seconds to open and close my eyes again until my vision is somewhat clear. Soon I started to see an object right in front of my face. Once my vision cleared, a pink nose was sniffing right in front of my face and the appearance began to look like a dark-brown furry little creature.
Roshan blinked and looked right up into the little creatures' eyes to saw it was no one other than saber-tooth cub Nadia.
"Nadia?" Roshan said
(NADIA MEWING)
(PURRING)
Roshan pushed himself onto his elbows and stood up. The boy picked up the cub and gently placed her in his arms. Nadia nuzzled into the human boys' arms before jumping onto the boys' shoulder and began licking his face non-stop.
Roshan giggled, "Happy to see you too"
(NADIA MEWING)
"She hasn't left your side, son" said a voice
Roshan paused when he saw his father enter the tent who had a look a happiness on his face. The boy set, Nadia, down and he leaned forward and the two hugged.
(RUNAR & ROSHAN LAUGHING TOGETHER)
"My son, at last, you're awake" Runar said, in relief
Roshan yawned. "How long have I been out?"
Runar gulped and was about to explain but was interrupted when Ragnar came poking his head inside the tent with what looked like a look of relief on his face.
Roshan gasped, "Uncle?"
Ragnar rushed into the tent and hugged Roshan leaving the boy confused on what was happening. Ragnar was hugging him back? 16 years it's been and now he's starting to give hugs. What gives?
"The boy lives. Our boy lives, brother" said Ragnar, wrapping an arm around his brother
"Indeed, little brother, indeed" Runar replied back
"Wait…is he…are you-?" Roshan stuttered
"Cured?" Runar said
Ragnar nodded. "Yes, your antidote worked like a charm. As you can see I'm fully recovered and back to my true original self again. If it wasn't for your animal friends I would've killed you so many months ago. And for that, I thank them all"
"Months? What does he mean by…wait, how long was I out for?" Roshan asked, demandingly
Both brothers looked at each other and gulped the same time before looking back at the, now, confused but recovered boy.
"Nine months" both brothers replied
Roshan's jaw-dropped and his face expression froze. "N-Nine…m-months?"
"Yeah, we wish there was an easy way to tell you but…" said Runar
"…but you had it coming anyway" Ragnar replied
Runar sighed. "Not what I had in mind"
The excitement was too much, Roshan felt his heart pounding faster by the minute. Nine Months? But then something else came to his head that started coming back to him.
"Manny…Sid…Diego. My guardians, my friends where are they?" Roshan demanded
Runar calmed his son down, "Relax son, all will be explained"
"And since now you're fully recovered and awake. I think there's something you need to see" said Ragnar, smiling
Roshan exited the tent with his father and uncle but when the bright light faded and his vision was suddenly cleared he blinked with bewilderment from what he saw was the most incredible life-changing discovery. Men, women, and children were working around the village…but this time…animals were helping alongside them.
Birds were helping fix tents with the humans, beavers helped build shelters for the dogs, mammoths including, bears, gazelle's, and musk ox's helped carry wood and bring back fish for the tribe. But that's not all Roshan spotted a few Howlers attending to the children and played with them.
"I knew it…I'm dead" Roshan announced
Runar stood beside his son. "No, but you gave it your best shot. So what do you think?"
"Am I seeing things, or are those Howlers?" Roshan asked
"Correct nephew, some of them had a change of heart and decided to live among us" Ragnar explained
"So they're pets?" Roshan asked
Ragnar shook his head, "Nah, more like companions. Say, 'man's best friend'"
"When you were asleep every animal visited our tribe to dedicate their lives to you and your friends after what you did for them. The sloth-looking monkey…he kinda spread the word out" Runar explained
"Then what?" Roshan asked
"We developed, 'a truce', which they happily agreed to. Now, we are one" said Runar
Roshan blinked in surprise. "You mean…no more hunting, no more killing?"
Ragnar happily patted his nephew on the back. "We're in peace. But only on land, we can still hunt the fish"
Roshan chuckled. "I…I don't know what to say, guys. This is…incredible. I just wish I was awake to see it when it happened"
"You got all your life to live, son" said Runar
Roshan hugged his father and uncle as the happiness started reviving his soul again. For the first time, things were starting to come in place. He and his father are finally speaking again and Ragnar's no longer an animal-hater. As a matter of fact, he and Runar were starting to act like real brothers. But there was one thing still missing and Roshan knew what it was.
"Say, I'd love to catch up with you guys but can tell me where…" Roshan said
Runar and Ragnar both pointed in the same direction. "They're north, you'll find them near the waterfalls"
Roshan smiled. "Thanks guys"
"See you at the feast tonight?" Runar asked
Roshan winked "You bet"
Roshan got into new clothes and gear and swinging his back-pack over his shoulder. Nadia hopped onto the boys' shoulder and together they both began making his way into the wilderness to reunite with their human and animal friends. Runar and Ragnar happily watched as the boy went off.
"I gotta say, Runar, your son is one of the gifted" Ragnar complimented
"I know. They grow up so fast" said Runar, wiping a tear from his eye
Woo-hoo, I know this seemed a little quick but it makes me happy to get back on track with my stories again. Anyway, please review and stay tuned because only two more chapters will be coming your way!
