Willow talks with Luz, Amity, and Gus outside the castle in the garden. "I know it sounds crazy, but I swear by the titan it is the truth. Azura and the Guardians are dead. I saw their graves." Luz and Amity looking towards the windows lining the banquet hall seeing Azura, the guardians, and their friends eating and talking. Luz, "But it doesn't make any sense. If she and the guardians are really dead. Then who are those people?" Amity in a hurt tone, "Willow are you positive?" Willow, "Amity I know what I saw. You both have to believe me." Luz shouting, "No! You're horrible to say such things." Amity in response, "Yeah Willow, if you wanted to destroy what is precious for us. You have succeeded. And I can't be near you right now. In fact, neither of us can." Looking at Luz as she gets on her staff, "Come on honey. Let's get out of here." Luz in aggravation, "Yeah, Stringbean and Ghost get us as far away from here as possible. Suddenly the air here has become toxic." They fly away as Willow shouts, "Amity! Luz!" Gus steps forward to say, "They are both taking this very personally." Willow pulls out Clover and her staff and gets on as she says to him, "I'll talk to them. Whether they want it or not." Flying off after them.

Willow then finds Luz and Amity down on their knees crying and cradling each other as the they stand before Azura's grave. Willow gently steps forward and gently says their names. Luz says in response, "You were right, but we didn't want to believe you." Willow bows her head in sorrow, "I'm so sorry. Both of you." Amity and Luz stand up with Amity speaking first with tears in her eyes. "No we are sorry for we acted towards you. You were telling us something that we needed to hear, but didn't want to." They all hug and turn back to Azura's grave. Luz, "She's dead. All of them. They're just, gone." Amity falls into Luz's arms with Luz gently stroking her hair and reassuring her by saying, "It's alright sweet potato, I'm here and so is Willow."

Willow looking back in the direction of the castle asks, "If Azura and the guardians are really dead. Then who are those people? Grim walker clones or magical robots?"

Luz stands with Amity fully up and with a stern look of resolve states, "I think it's time we got some real answers. Also have you both noticed something else that doesn't seem right?" Amity and Willow both ask, "What?" "Heckati's grave." Amity, "What about Heckati?" Luz, "Her grave is not here with the others." Willow, "I just now noticed that." Amity, "What does it mean?" Luz, "I'm not sure, but I think it's time to do a little meddling."

The three friends find the snack seller from before with Luz standing in her path shouting, "Stop!" The woman then asks, "What can I do for you?" Luz with a very serious look asks, "You can help by answering this. What can you tell us about those graves on the hill by the guardians castle? Specifically, why are there statues of Azura and the guardians standing over them? With their names and saying they are dead when we were just talking with them less than half an hour ago?" The lady then calmly tries to end the conversation by saying, "Uh sorry I can't keep my customers waiting…" Amity puts her abomination slime covered hand on the cart as she asks her, "What customers? The kids in the park. I've seen you go there at this same time for the last few days we've been here. And you know what I noticed. You always give the exact same treats. They always ask for the exact same ones." Snack Lady in response with a little sweat on her face and an eye twitch, "Well they just know what they like." Willow then questions her, "How come we've seen you elsewhere, but we've never seen you stopping and selling snacks to anyone else? Only selling to those kids and parents who are always in the park. At this time." Sanck Lady with a look of concern, "Well business is kind of dead everywhere else except there." Luz then asks, "Why is it no one else in this city asks you to stop and sell them treats? Why only there and to those people?" "Look I need to get to get back on my route. I've got a schedule to keep…" Amity then smahes the cart and makes a large abomination hand to grab her and put her against a wall as she shouts, "What is going around here? Why are you being so evasive? Why is nothing in this world making any sense? I and the rest of us need answers. Tell me!" "Please," the snack lady says frightened, "not so loud, she might hear you." Luz, "Who? Who is she you are referring too?" Willow tells Amity, "Amity I think we've gotten all we're going to get from her." Luz puts her hand on Amity's left shoulder as she says, "She's right. Let her go." "Fine," Amity says in frustration as she lets the lady go. They all turn to see the cart Amity had crushed is restored with everything in it un-damaged. The lady takes her cart and quickly runs off shouting, "Enjoy your day ladies." Willow then says, "Well this is certainly getting curiouser and curiouser." Luz in response, "You got that right."

Later they land outside the public library. Luz asks Amity, "A library?" Amity, "I want to learn more about this world's history." They open the doors to discover nobody inside. "Hello," Luz says into the air but there is no response. Amity makes a slime megaphone and Luz shouts with all of them covering their ears, "Hello!" Hearing the hello echo around the space. Only for there to be no answer. No one running up to tell them to be quite. No librarian shushing them. Nothing and nobody which makes them all suspicious. With amity being the first to ask, "What kind of library is open, but has is no librarian and no visitors?" Luz, "Yet another layer to this mystery. Let's see if we can find some real answers here."

They head over to the history section. Luz takes the first book off the shelf hoping to get answers. Only to discover, "Blank?" She throws it away and checks another. Only to find it's blank too. Willow and Amity do the same thing. But every book they find is blank. Luz shouts, "They're all useless!" She then accidentally knocks over the entire book shelf which causes all the others to fall dominos in a circle. They all step out of the way so as not to get crushed. Then before their eyes the shelves right themselves and all the books float into the air and put themselves back on the shelves exactly where they were before.

Luz, "Okay girls there is defiantly something seriously wrong here. Even magical books don't re-shelve themselves." Willow then suggest, "Come on, let's check the news archives." They find a sign that says news archives in the basement. Amity tries to flip on a light switch. Only for it not to work. Luz then activates a light glyph and uses' it like a flashlight. They walk down the stairs and find a door marked news archives. Luz puts the light orb above them and discover a brick wall behind the door after opening it. Saying in disdain, "Why am I not surprised?" Willow in anger as her eyes glow blight emerald green, "I've had enough of this." She makes a fist of Stonewood and smashes through the wall. Luz offers, "After you Willow." They eventually find themselves in a large underground chamber that seems to be directly under the city center. Full of rubble and crystals. Luz asks, "Looks like a underground emergency shelter. Though it appears to have been through an earthquake." Willow then notices scorch marks on some of the rubble. "No, look at this. These scorch marks were not made in a random explosion. This was precise and aimed. These are battle scars. Looking more like this place has been through a war." Amity clears away another stand of rubble and screams. Luz and Willow run over to her and see what frightened her. It's a man who has been encased in red crystal. Then they see that there are hundreds and possibly thousands of people also encased in red crystal.

They then find at the far end of the chamber a work bench and spell circle in the floor with runes and glyphs Luz has never seen before. Willow asks, "Guys I'm getting a very un-settling feeling here. It feels like this a tomb that has been through a war." Amity at the desk finds a in a drawer, "hey I think a journal." Luz rushes up to say, "Hey you know you can't someone else's personal thoughts and feelings. Although if whoever wrote this thought they might get captured or something else would happen. Then they might have a note with a clue." She opens it and discovers, "hey, this is Heckati's journal." Luz and Amity's attention shifts to Willow when she says, "Guys, look at this." She holds up a newspaper with the front page saying in huge letters 'Guardians killed in battle as World War is declared.' Amity looks at the date on the paper. Saying with alarm, "50 years ago." Then Luz shows them Journal as she says, "not only that. Look at this," she says as she shows them the last page of the journal. Luz, "The date on the final entry. It's the exact same day the author of the Azura book series said she received her inspiration for the first book of the series."
