"guys, im really sorry!"

"how could you?!" Hikaru yells, anger written all over his face.

"why didn't you tell us?!" Kaoru adds, same expression as his twin.

"you just don't understand-" Hikaru interrupts me.

"what don't we understand, it seems pretty clear to me!"

"what was I supposed to say, 'oh hey guys just so you know I have wings'?!"

"no bu-" Tamaki started but it was my turn to talk.

"but what?! If I told you, how was I supposed to know you wouldn't call the police or something? how was I supposed to know I wouldn't end up as a test subject for the next lucky scientist?! How was I supposed to know you wouldn't reject me or abandon me? How was I supposed to know..."

reality...

my eyes shoot open as i sit up. after a minute i realize it was a dream and let out a sigh. This didn't surprise me all that much, ive had these types of dreams many times, just its normally random people instead of people i actually know, and normally instead of talking, they scream and next thing i know there are police and scientists and all that stuff.

"its about time you woke up" i hear a voice say behind me, causing me to jump. I turn around but all i see is Neko.

"hey kitty, what are you doing?" i pet her head.

"well i was trying to wake you up, im hungry!" i stare at her. hold on, what?! That was her?! since when did she talk?! Since when could i understand her?!

"w-what?"

"come on, im hungry!"

"since when can you talk?!"

"what do you mean tal- wait, you can understand me?!" i just nod. she seems to pause for a minute, but soon looks at me.

"we'll talk about this later, just feed me!" she jumps off the bed and runs out of the room. I stand up and slowly walk to through the door and into the kitchen where she was sitting by her bowl looking up at me. I grab the food from the pantry and poor some into her bowl.

"thank you" she says before she starts to eat. I watch her, star struck. Haruhi walks in and waves a hand in front of my face and i snap out of it. "huh? what?"

"you ok? you look like you just saw a ghost."

"i don't know... um... Neko!" Neko stopped and looked at me.

"yes?" i turn to Haruhi and motion my arms to Neko.

"you hear that right?!" she raises an eyebrow.

"yeah, of course. What about it, she meows all the time?" i stare at her, then at Neko.

"i guess your the only one." she says before continuing to eat. i grab Haruhi's arm and pull her into my room. After i close the door she gives me a look.

"what going on, why did you-"

"Neko... can talk. Or at least to me... i-i don't know! i woke up, and she talked to me, a-a-and-" i stuttered, but Haruhi interrupted.

"whoa, calm down, breathe." i took a deep breath and she smiled. "ok, now, what do you mean Neko can talk?"

"well, when i woke up she talked to me, and when i was in the kitchen she answered me when i called her, with words!"

"are you sure?" i nod, "ok lets think, there has to be a reason that your the only one who understands her... oh! What about the whole, 2% avian DNA thing, you got that one ice power from that, that one time! Maybe this is like a new power and you can talk to more than just her. What if you can talk to all animals?" she said. i thought about it for a minute and realized she could be right.

"i don't know, i guess that makes the most sense. lets g-" suddenly i remember that we have school today. "oh no!" i run to my bed and grab the spare phone the twins gave me. it was already almost 11:00! I also had about ten messages from the twins. "um... maybe we should... skip... school today?" i say, slowly opening my phone.

The texts that i got from the twins (and a couple others ;P):

6:03~ Hikaru: hey, don't forget we're going to the beach today! :)

7:10~ Kaoru: hey, where are you? Boss is freaking out, we didn't see you earlier?

7:57~ Hikaru: where are you?

8:58~ Kaoru: are you sick?

9:00~ unknown: Homura?! Daddy's so worried, where are you?! Are you sick?!

That's obviously Tamaki... wait... how the hell did he get my number?!

9:20~ Hikaru: come on, answer. everyone's starting to get worried, especially the boss.

10:48~ Kaoru: please answer, boss is freaking out. just text one of us when you can so we know your ok?

10:59~ unknown: Homura, i hope you know this will be coming out of yours and Haruhi's debt. Oh this is Kyoya.

that little- of course he'd say something like that.

"or, maybe not. I guess everyone is wondering where we are. I should probably text them and let them know were ok." i say as Haruhi sighs at her phone, which i'm guessing got blown up by texts as well.

11:02~ send to: (both)Hikaru and Kaoru: hey, sorry but we wont be coming to school today as i'm sure you've already figured out, something came up. we're ok, we just cant make it to school, can i borrow your notes for class. And tell Kyoya i said he's evil ;P

i put my phone on my desk only for it to start playing Hikaru's ringtone right after. i roll my eyes as i pick it up.

"yeah?"

"where have you been?! we were supposed to go to the beach today!" Hikaru's voice yelled, but you could tell he was relieved.

"why didn't you text either of us back?!" Kaoru's voice came through a little muffled, most likely because he wasn't holding the phone.

"i'm sorry! i wasn't near my phone, neither was Haruhi! geez, you don't have to go all 'Jurassic World' on me" I laugh a little when he sighs.

"well, at least your ok. Your coming tomorrow though right?"

"yeah, oh and can I borrow todays notes?"

"sure."

"thanks. ok well, I gotta go, thanks again... bye!" I hang up the phone and throw it on my bed while turning to Haruhi.

"well, you wanna go see if this is a new power or not?"

"yeah, how about we bring some bread to the park and see if we can find some birds?"

"oh, good idea"

after a trip to the supermarket...

we arrive at the park and sit down at a bench. "i hope this works..." I throw some bread crumbs on the ground. I hope this is just a new power... After a while, a few birds come down from a tree and start to eat the bread crumbs. I try to listen and see if they're talking, but sigh when I don't hear anything. Then a couple more appear and soon there aren't any more bread crumbs. they turn to us and I jump a little.

"hey!" one of them pokes my leg with its beak. "you gonna throw some more or what?!" I look at Haruhi and smile.

"Haruhi you were right! it is just a new power, I can hear what they're sayin-" another one pokes my leg and I jump. Haruhi looks at it and I can tell she's trying not to laugh. I glare at her before I grab the bag and dump it all out in front of the birds.

"there, you happy? stop poking me!" they all look at me for a moment before one of them hops up to me.

"sorry" and with that, they all start to eat. I watch as some of them argue a little and some of them just talk casually.

"so...what now?" I ask Haruhi, still watching the birds.

"i don't know... maybe we should tell dad?"

"no, he'll probably get really excited and want me to tell him what Neko is saying every time he hears her meow."

"good point." there's a long pause before she talks again, "well, we better get home before dad gets worried"

"yeah, ok" we stand up and the birds suddenly all fly up in a big flurry, catching us off guard. Haruhi falls back on the bench, but I end up bumping into somebody, causing not only me to fall, but for them to fall right on top of me.

"ow." I open my eyes to reveal a boy around my age. he has silver hair and eyes. he stands up with a worried look and offers me his hand. I gladly take it.

"sorry." he says, pulling me up.

"its fine, it wasn't your fault."

"are you ok?" I nod and he seems relieved. I feel a sharp pain im my back, but ignore it. "im Kaito Fusumaki." he states, holding out his hand.

"Homura Fujioka" I shake his hand.

"nice name."

"thanks" something pokes my shoulder and I look over to see Haruhi. she taps her wrist. "we should get going" she says, and I nod.

"well, I gotta go, sorry again." I say to Kaito.

"don't worry about it. Maybe well see each other around" he smiles.

"maybe" I wave and start walking with Haruhi.

at home...

when we get home, I walk into my room to see Neko sitting on my bed. "hey" I sit next to her and pet her.

"hello, where were you?" she asks as she purrs.

"testing out this new power, turns out, this whole, 'me knowing what your saying' thing is a new power."

"interesting, so you can talk to all animals?"

"that's how it seems to be"

"yay! now I can tell you when im hungry and I don't have to wait!"

"yeah ok, but you better not wake me up in the middle of the night just because your hungry"

"ok, I wont"

"good"
