(Under Central…)

Pipes weave around each other, forming tunnels underneath Central City. These tunnels hold secrets that only high military ranks know about, secrets that could destroy a whole nation. The darken tunnels lead to a cavern in the center of it all, of everything. In that cavern sits a man who was connected to them. Literally. A few tubes connect down his spine as he sits in his chair, pondering hard about what he had just heard from Lust and Gluttony. His light hair seems to vanish under a stream of light that encircles his big, tube chair. He rests his chin on his hand. Which was propped up on the armrest, thinking over what he had heard from his children moments before.

"When Gluttony bit her arm off, there were black sparks everywhere. And after a minute her arm re-attached itself to her." Lust says in that sly voice, crossing her arms. Her eyes having a twinkle of curiosity about them.

"Yeah, and she tastes yucky!" Gluttony scrunches up his nose at the thought, being childish like he always was.

"Was there anything else unusual about her?" Father asks, not showing any outward interest in the girl, but on the inside he was curious about her. How could her arm attach itself back on as black sparks flew around her? It surely couldn't have been the Philosophers Stone.

"Yes, one of her eyes was silted," Lust points up, bringing her hand towards her eye as an example, "Like this. But it was only in one eye." He thought about this for a minute.

"You may leave." He says without looking at them, his gaze fixed on the ground.

"Yes Father." Lust says as she exits the room with Gluttony following her.

After of few moments of searching through his knowledge about what occurred at the lab, he came to a conclusion. He was almost 100% sure he knew what was going on, but did the girl? It happened about a hundred or two years ago when he saw it happen, but he was sure it was THAT person again.

"But does she know what's happening to her?" He mumbles aloud, still thinking. She would make a great pawn and maybe even a human sacrifice. But he needs more information about her before he could come to a decision. He had crafted this country very carefully from the beginning of it. One slip up in information and it would all crumble.

"Envy!" he bellows. The doors open a few seconds later. Envy, in his usual attire, waltzes in looking bored out of his mind.

"What do you want?" He grumbles, almost like a rebellious teenager. Once Envy was in front of him, he crosses his arms expectantly.

"I have a small assignment for you," Envy raises a brow at this.

"You remember that girl from the lab?"

"Of course I do! How can I forget! Do you want me to kill her?!" Envy exclaims with obvious excitement at the thought.

"No my child, I want you to get information about her. You may do this however you wish, just don't kill her. Understood?" Father informs, a strong tone arising at the last sentence. He knew Envy could get a little carried away at times; this is one of his many problems. But all of his other children were on assignments of their own; Envy was the only one he could ask to do this.

"Yeah yeah, whatever. But if you do need me to kill her, I want to be the one." He waves over his shoulder like shooing a pest, walking towards the door.

"And why is that?" Father asks in mock curiosity. Envy turns towards him fully, a sick smile on his face.

"Cause I haven't killed a girl in a long time!" his eyes shone with cruel excitement and he exits without another word.

The train slowly starts to pull out of the station as we wave to the group of people waving us off. Gracia, Elicia, Armstrong and his men wave us off as their figures get smaller and small, the train gaining speed. I was kinda squished against the window because Al was sitting beside me. Ed was across from us with Winry sitting beside him, having more room than I do.

I put my elbow on the armrest, resting my head on my palm. The car was pretty full; almost every seat had at least one person in them.

Ed, Al and Winry made small talk most of the way until the sun started to set. I mostly just ignored them and was lost in my own thoughts. Thoughts about Hughes and his family. Since Hughes decision this morning, I've been trying to think of a way to help out Gracia. I couldn't come up with anything that would seem appropriate or something I could do.

The only idea's I have are one, I could help out around her house once we get back. But…I'm bad with kids and with house work. Anyway, I think Ed and Al would want to keep an eye on me just in case something happens. The stone and everything, right?

One of my other ideas was to make her something, like cookies. But there are a few flaws in that plan too. Like not having money for ingredients and no kitchen available to us, that was a bit of a problem. And I suck at cooking things…

Those were the best idea's I could think of. They were really cliché and original, but I couldn't think of anything else. And I can't ask anyone about it since they don't know about Hughes death. Ugh, maybe once they find out when we get back to Central I could ask them. Winry and I could do something once they find out. I think she'll like that idea, but she might lock herself in her room like she does originally in the series. But who knows, maybe it'll be different with me here.

Ugh, this is so flipping complicated! I don't know what's going to happen and what's not! Argh! I scrunch up my brows in frustration, still thinking.

"Bree? Bree!" Winry calls out to me, waving her hand in front of my face.

"Huh? What?" I lift my head from my hand, looking around.

"What's wrong?" Winry asks, tilting her head slightly.

"Oh nothing! I was just thinking and spaced out," I laugh awkwardly rubbing my hand on the back of my head. She gives me a confused frown while Ed and Al give each other the look. By the look, I mean the look they give each other when they know that's something's up.

"Well, I was just saying that my clothes look really good on you!" Winry exclaims happily, "If you want, you can keep them."

Winry insisted that I wear one of her outfits and her wrench was the one that got me into it. I was wearing one of Winry's white tank tops and one of her black miniskirts. If my friends could see me now, they would never let me live it down. And I hated this miniskirt, since I've never worn any kind of skirt or dress before. But I couldn't change in the fear of The Wrench coming at my head again. So I kept quiet.

"Oh no, they look better on you!" I laugh, blushing slightly and fidget in my seat.

"Hey Ed, why is it suddenly so important to go see your teacher anyway?" Winry asks suddenly as the sun sets beside us. The car starts to have a warm orange glow.

"There's a couple of reasons. I'm tired of getting my butt kicked." Ed replies, "And our core needs some work."

"So this is a combat teacher?"

"Yeah, the second reason is that we wanted to ask her about the Philosophers Stone."

"Let's hope that she gives us time to ask and explain ourselves." Al pipes up.

"Yeah, considering," Ed starts as his face pales at the thought, "Considering…She's going to kill us when she finds out what happened." Al and Ed start shaking and almost crying.

"It would've been nice to have a girlfriend before I die!" Al exclaims, his armor rattling. I couldn't help but smile and tried to hold back my laughter.

"Maybe you guys should get a new teacher." Winry sweet drops.

"I'll be there to record the whole thing so don't you worry." I snicker as I look back out of the train, watching the sun set.

"Oh great…Just wonderful." Ed mumbles.

"I'll be there to record the whole thing so don't you worry." I snicker as I look back out of the train, watching the sun set.

"Oh great…Just wonderful." Ed mumbles.

"Yeah, you'll thank me later." I shoot back as Hughes enters my mind again. Wait a minute, maybe he won't die after all! Like I said before, nothing's set in stone just yet. He might be extra cautious because of my promise and might have gotten away! But it hasn't happened yet, it's the evening and he dies when it's night time. He might get off of the hook tonight. All I can do is wait until we get back to Central. For now, I just have to focus on the situations at hand until we get back. Who knows, when we get back he might be in his office working Sheska to death and laughing with that smile on his face. I close my eyes and smile at the thought. Maybe everything would turn out all right; I just have to believe it.

"You want some Bree?" Winry asks as she starts to pass the apple pie around. It looks so flipping good, I couldn't resist. It was the next day, somewhere in the morning. All night, I couldn't sleep cause all I could think of was Hughes. I wish there was some way I could find out what happened but I know there is nothing I could do. It nagged at me and still is, but I couldn't let it show. I had to pretend I was all right.

"Sure, thanks." I smile, accepting the slice Winry gives me on a napkin.

"This is the best apple pie ever!" Ed exclaims after his first bite. Curious, I took a bite out of mine and oh boy it was amazing! I stuff my face with it, yeah it was that good!

"Isn't it!? Mrs. Hughes is an excellent cook!"

"Yeah, and that quiche she made for us! That was amazing!" Quiche? When did she make them…oh right, the first episode! I knew that…

"I actually put that down on the list of things I'm going to eat." Al says, laughing a little.

"Well she gave me the recipe so I'll make it for you Al!" Winry says, smiling.

"Awesome thanks!" Al exclaims, putting his arms up in victory and I could tell he was smiling like an idiot. I kinda had to duck because of his arms, again, not a lot of room. I laugh with them as they talked, Hughes being in the back of my mind the whole time.

"EEEEEEKKKKK!" Winry squeals loudly while turning around in circles. Oh my gosh! How can she get her voice that high?! I don't think I could get my voice that high, ever!

"We should've left her at the station and headed to Dublith." Ed grumbles, standing in the shade of a building. It's so flipping hot out! This is even worse than when I went to Arizona in the middle of summer!

"Sadly, I agree. I'm dying in this heat!" I say, standing next to him.

"EEEKK! Bree come look at this!" Winry exclaims as she drags me over to a window display.

"AH! My shade!" I yell and reach out to it. Ed smirks like this was revenge.

Jerk face.

"It's the latest Gods model!" Winry shrieks as she puts her hands on the glass. I stare at it kinda unimpressed. But I got to admit, it was really shiny…

"That's cool and all, but let's get back into the shade before we become extra crispy." I say. But it's like she didn't hear me. Her eyes were literally hearts as she rambles on about the suspension and crap. I sigh, trying to sneak away but without looking, her hand reaches out and grabs the collar of my shirt. I struggle and run in place. Who knew she had a freakishly strong grip. Probably from all of the wrenches she throws…

"Hey Winry, we should probably keep moving…" Al comes up to us.

"Ok!" She exclaims and starts walking, her hand frozen in a death grip on my collar.

"Winry! Would you let go!?" I yell at her, more than a little ticked. I wave my arms around to try to get her attention.

"Oh! Sorry Bree!" She exclaims as she lets go. I fall flat on my back, glaring up at her.

"Really?" I mumble as I get up and dust myself off, Al fretting over me.

We walk around for a bit with Winry squealing the whole time. I drag my feet, the heat was really starting to get to me. I've played sports in the heat, so I'm used to it to some extent. But the heat here is unreal! It's like we were walking around in an oven or something!

But there was something else going on here, somewhere in the shadows, like there was someone watching us. In the corner of my eye, I could see a black spot on the roofs above us. But, whenever I look straight at it, it disapears. Like it just vanishes into thin air. But the creepy thing was that it would always come back after just a few minutes. Each time it came back, I got a chill down my spine. Like the one I got from Gluttony when he tried to bite my face off. It was like I was playing Slender Man, I don't know where it is but I know there was something out to get me.

"Hey kid, come back here a sec!" Someone calls out and we all turn around. Suddenly, a swarm of people surrounds Edward and I'm push back towards the outer ring. I fall on my butt, surprise that so many people could poof here in a millisecond. Over the roar of the excited crowd, I could hear Ed protesting. Suddenly, clothes hit my face and they drape over my head. Ed's pants fall onto my lap as his shirt covers my face.

"Hey! Watch where you're throwing things!" I yell to no one in particular. Remembering Paninya stealing his watch, I dig through Ed's pockets but didn't find it. Wow, Paninya works fast! How did she get it?!

"Where are my clothes?!" Ed yells. And I get up, pants in hand. I push through the crowd that had split into two different groups, leaving Ed to stand alone. I notice that all that Ed had on were his boxers which make me blush and look away.

"Here." I say, throwing the pants at his face. He catches them easily, raising a brow at me.

"Why's my shirt on your head?" He asks as he slips his pants on, much to my relief.

"Wha- oh yeah, it just landed there." I say, swiping them off my head embarrassed. He chuckles lightly, feeling around his pockets as his face drops.

"Oh no…" he says, horrified. This grabs the attention of Winry and Al.

"What is it Ed?" Winry asks, both of them walking over to us.

"It's… gone..." Sweat starts to flood down his face in shock.

"What is?"

"My State Alchemist Watch…" They all flip out, screaming in panic. Pfft, that's what you get for letting people rip off your pants.

"Sounds like you've had a run in with Paninya." Some guys near us say.

"She a pick pocket that targets tourist." The other guy says.

"Where can we find her!?" Ed asks. Oh boy, here we go…

After running around in circles everywhere in the oven-city, and by everywhere I mean everywhere in the city, we got stuck walking the desert mountains to Dominic's place. It was way hotter up here than it was in the town! Everyone except Al was dragging their feet on the trail, sweat dripping off of our chins. Where is the stupid place! I'm going to become Extra Crispy Bree Bacon soon!

But that feeling of being watched was still with me. So far the conclusion I've came up with was the possibility a homunculus was watching us. Like a guard dog to make sure we were ok or something. Or maybe they want me after what happened at the 5th lab. My mind refused to work because it was getting slow cooked, so that's all I could really come up with. Soon, I'd forgotten about the matter entirely because of the heat and exhaustion.

"They said this guy lives deep in the mountains so he can find the best quality ore here…" Winry says, trailing off at the end. "Are you sure we're going in the right direction Ed?"

"What are you complaining about? This is all your fault for dragging us here in the first place." Ed grumbles.

"Well I'm not the one who let his watch get stolen!" Winry yells, her hair standing straight out.

"Oh really!" Ed rounds behind at her

"Guys, fighting's not going to help us!" I yell at them, irritated.

"We aren't fighting!" Winry yells, and I'm too tired and hot to fear her at this point.

"Yes you are!" I yell back, "This is all Ed's fault for stripping out in the middle of the street!" I point at him accusingly.

"Hey! They took my clothes off! It's not like I wanted to strip!" he yells his defense.

"Hey guys," Al says calmly.

"WHAT!" We all yell at the same time.

"Is that her?" he points over to a wooden bridge where Paninya was running across. We all could definitely see the gleam of the watch in her hand. Oh great, let's get ready for some running! Ugh…

"HAHAHA I GOTCHA NOW!" Ed yells, his face twisting in terrifying pleasure. He races off after her, using his alchemy to make pillars for him to run on. I sweet drop at his sudden burst of energy.

"Come on, we gotta catch up!" Al exclaims and we race down the mountain side and run across the bridge, forgetting about the heat. Ed was throwing earth fist at her (which she dodges) and behind him we could see the house a few hundred yards away.

"Let's set a trap Al!" I tell him as he nods. We get there in a few seconds and Al starts to draw a transmutation circle on the ground. In the distance, we could see dust heading our way. "Hurry up Al, they're coming!" I urge.

"Done!" he exclaims, standing up, "All we have to do now is wait." And may I say, that was only a second after he said that. After that statement, Paninya lands in the middle of the circle and it didn't seem like she notice it.

"I've been waiting for you." Al says as he activates the transmutation. The ground erupts in blue electricity and slowly a bird cage surrounds her. Once it was done constructing itself, I let out a low whistle. This thing was huge!

"Hey Al, you should teach me that trick sometime." I say to him, still looking in awe at the thing.

"Give me back my watch!" Ed screams as he comes running towards us, still with his angry face on. He comes in about a foot from the bird cage until she swings out her shin sword form her automail. Ok, that was way awesome! I look over to Winry to see she was staring at Paninya filled with pure joy. I.E. Her face was red and was smiling like crazy.

"Don't forget to breathe!" I say teasingly, nudging her in the arm to get her attention. She takes in a huge gulp of air and gasps a little, still with that smile on her face. I didn't really think she wasn't breathing!

"Winry!" I say in alarm but an explosion brought my eyes back to the scene. Paninya had used her knee-cannon and was running towards us. Looking back, I could see an almost evil glint in Winry's eye and I take a step back away from her. Her arm shoots out as Paninya runs pass us, grabbing it and almost tripping her.

And that is how we ended up in their house in the middle of a thunderstorm. And I was twitchy the whole time. I mean, Mrs. Satera was going to have a freaking baby any moment now! How can one not be nervous about that?! And once the time came, the house would fill with frighten screaming that I would hear from the other side of the house. Forgetting what was happening, I would rush over in a panic. Once there I'd see Mrs. Satera on the bed, and my knees would most likely buckled underneath me. And I would faint.

I wanted to run and hid somewhere, anywhere but here. Even Father's creepy Pipe Palace place.

*** 1 hour later ***

"Bree! Get towels with Paninya!" Winry yells at me with a pointed finger. Still in a state of shock and horror, Paninya grabs my arms and drags me through the house. Finally, my senses start coming back to me, and I run by Paninya's side.

"You think she'll be alright?" Paninya asks as we turn a corner.

"I think so." I smile, half lying. I didn't know what would happen. After the whole thing with Lab 5 with Gluttony being there I don't know what-is-what anymore. I mean, she could die or something. And it would be all my fault since I'm in the picture now.

We stop at a closet and I throw it open, see towels on the bottom self, and started toss them into Paninya's arms. Paninya jogs in place as the towels sneak up to her brown, anxious eyes. Throwing the last one on top of my own pile, we both take a preparatory step forward before we run back down the hall. The lights above our heads blink on and off for a second until they finally shut completely off, the whole house went silent with only the sound of rain softly pattering on the roof top. We both catch ourselves, looking around in confusion.

"What happened?" She asks, looking at me in the little light from the storm outside.

"Maybe the storm knocked out the power..." I trail off, something in my stomach not feeling right.

"No, we should have power from the windmills outside. Technically speaking, we should have a ton of power right now."

"Ok...You should go take those to Winry, I'll go find a flashlight!" I set down my pile of towels and start down in the opposite direction. Behind me, I hear a "Rodger!" and pair of pounding automail feet on the floor boards.

Not really sure where I would find a flashlight, I go from room to room. In each room I find nothing. The house remained dark with the noise of people running about, the rain on the roof, and the occasional thunder.

When I open my fifth door, something was off. Like, really off. It was dark, of course, and the room had very little furniture. A desk, chair, and night stand stood in the room. But, on the left wall, the window was open. Rain rushed in, creating a lake of water on the wooden floor boards below.

Why is the window open? Nobody has come to this side of the house since we got here… I rush over and close the window, locking it to the frame. I stand there, shivering for a moment, trying to calm my paranoia.

Something was off really, really off. I can feel it in the pit of my stomach. I close my eyes and strain my ears for any sound that wasn't normal. Rain pounds the roof hard and lightning flashes outside with a thundering roar. A cold sensation trickles down my spine as I slowly open my eyes. My heart starts pounding and my breathing becomes labored. I gradually turn around, carefully scanning the room for anything out of place. Desk, night stand, dark corner…

My eyes stop at the corner closest to the door. Comparing the four corners of the room, only one of them had a dark spot on the bottom. I jump onto the window seal, not sure what the spot was.

Suddenly, a pair of red spots that reminded me of eye's open in the shadows of the ominous corner. My hands grip the window seal I was sitting on, waiting for it to do something.

What is it?! There was nothing about this in the series that I can remember… Maybe it's some sort of chimera? Maybe it's Nina's ghost come back to haunt me!

Then, lighting flashes outside.

Crouching in the corner of the room was a black haired figure with piercing violet eyes. He stands up, stalking towards me in that egotistical way he walks. Pointed teeth, sick and evil, slowly appear behind a grin.

"You look surprise Blondie," Envy says as he stands in between me and the door, "What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?" I shrink away, and my back presses against the cold glass as thunder booms outside. Mouth dry, I try to form words.

"Wh-Why are you here?" I squeak, looking towards the door to our left for escape. Should I? could I even make it to the door without Envy killing me first?

"Trying to escape, are we…?" He smirks as his hand shoots out and grabs my throat. My fingers dig into his arm, trying to tear it away hopelessly. I start to kick my legs, attempting to hit something that would make him let go. He starts to laugh this throaty, gruff laugh. His eyes gleam with sick pleasure at my efforts to fight back.

Ticked off at this, I kick him as hard as I could in the spot which would make most guys cry like a little girl. He lets out a short grunt of pain and his grip loosens just enough for me to rip his hand away. Diving under his arm, I lunge for the door. Suddenly, he grabs my arm with an angry growl. He spins me around and into the window, causing it to shatter and I find myself flying through the rain into the cliff. My head slams into a jutting rock, causing me to see black spots as warm liquid runs down my neck. I fall to the muddy ground, watching dazedly as Envy stomp over, fury in his eyes.

"Now you've really done it!" He roars.

Towering over me, he brings his leg back, swings, and kicks me in the stomach. I gasp in pain as I, again, hit the cliff with a loud smack. Falling back to the ground, a metallic taste fills my mouth as I clench my throbbing torso. Through the rain and tears, I look up to see Envy bringing his leg back for another blow. I close my eyes, waiting for his kick. But it never came. I open my eyes to find him still angry, but with his leg back on the ground.

"Is…" I start as he gives me a heated glare, "Is that all you came here to do?" I gasp, getting on my hands and knees, shivering as ice cold rain soaks through my clothes, mixing with my blood. He lets out an angry sigh of defeat as I fall onto my side, too beat up to even try to stand. Why did he stop? Isn't this what he likes to do in his spare time?

"Pfft, no." He says gruffly, crossing his arms with a snarl on his face.

"Then…what do you want?" I start slowly scooting back so that I was up against the cliff.

"Information." He states simply. Information? What kind of information?

"What? What sort of information…?" I ask hesitantly.

"Information about you…" He says, a twisted smile slowly spreading across his face. "And, I can get it however I wanna…" He says with a dark look in his eye, and starts to slowly creep towards me.

I try to see if one of my powers was to pass through solid objects.

"What do you want to know…?" I mutter, as he grabs the collar of my shirt and hoists me up to eye level, letting out a surprise gasp.

"Everything." Envy states. Then I say the most stupid thing.

"No."

He slaps me.

"What the hell happened at Lab 5?" he growls as I cough on the muddy ground, curling into a ball.

"I told you, I don't know!" I gasp.

"Tch, you have to know something," He says, grabbing my hair and yanking me up, "So tell me."

"I don't know!" I yell, squeezing my eyes shut so that my eyes wouldn't start tearing up.

"Your just making this harder on yourself…" He purrs.

"It's you that's making this harder!" I screech, my voice almost in shreds. I lash out with my legs in anger as a last attempt. This isn't good, I think I lost too much blood…I'm starting to black out again…

"You're not telling me what I need to know!" Envy growls as he throws me to the ground. A shout of pain escapes from my lungs.

"Maybe that's because I don't know myself!" I say after a moment of swallowing the pain, my ragged throat making it difficult to say anything at all. I look up at him to see a confused Envy. His eyes scan me, searching my face to see if I'm lying or not. After a minute, he turns away and he crosses his arms. I lay on my side, face turn up to him as I await some form of abuse. But none comes.

"If I find out your lying, I'll kill you." He barks at me. With that, he vanishes into the storm. I lay there, dazed, trying to make sense of what happened. Why didn't Envy keep hurting me? I thought Envy likes doing that kinda stuff. Maybe he just got bored with me…

I felt the mud around me started to cling just like clotted blood. The pouring rain seemed thick and made it hard to breath, it felt like I was drowning under the weight of it.

Suddenly, the once dark house light up in the night a few yards away from me. I twitch violently, covering my eyes with a muddy hand. I could see the silhouettes of people running around, shouting something I couldn't make out in the rain. Until one stops at the broken window as I try to make it out. Who was it? Did I know them? Lighting lights up the sky as my eyes adjust suddenly to it, closing them. There was a soft thud, but I didn't bother to open my eyes again. I was too tired. All I wanted was to sleep the pain away, to go home.

Home.

Where was that?

I knew it wasn't here. But I can barely remember it now that I think about it. What was my house like? What smell hanged around the kitchen? What was my room like? And what did my parents look like? I don't even remember their names. Why? Why can't I remember? How did I even get here? It's like one by one; they vanish from my mind until I was left with an empty shell.

Did I have amnesia or something? Did I hit my head against something hard and got knocked out? It was probably when Envy was throwing me against the wall…But still, why can't I remember these things? I lived in my house for fifteen years and I've been away only a few months…so why? Was it Truth's doing? I wouldn't be surprised…but what's the purpose? It didn't make any sense!

Whatever, I don't care what Truth's done. I'm going to remember no matter what. Start with something easy. What was mom's name. What was her name!? What's her smell, feel… Maria Hunter… Yeah…that was her name! Maria Hunter! Slowly, things start to come back to me like a veil being lifted.

Someone was shaking me, calling to me, but I wanted them to go away. I was trying to remember things and I wanted to remember right now. And I was so close too! Go away person!

"Bree!" The person says roughly as my eye's snap open with alarm. Through the rain, I could make out Edward who had me in his arms.

"Huh?" I say dumbly like I was just woken from a dream, my voice sounding horse and like the crackling of autumn leaves. All thoughts of my home vanished. Even the thought of thinking of home slowly starts to fade.

"What happened?" Ed says softer, the alarm in his eyes turning into worry and comfort.

"I-" I bite my tongue. He can't know that Envy was here, who knows what might happen. I could change the story drastically with just a few words. I didn't want to do that again, not with Nina. But who knows, maybe I killed two more people out of the four I've already killed. "I can't remember…" I turn my head away, not wanting to look at his face. Cause I know that he'll figure out I'm lying. Probably already has by now…

"Fine, let's get you inside. You're probably freezing." He says as he lifts me up into a standing position.

"Put your arm around my neck." He orders. Thinking he's going to help me walk back, I obey. But I give a squeak of surprise as he scoops me up into his arms. My head fills with vertigo and the ground seems to be far away, hard, and unforgiving. My fingers dig into his shoulder, afraid that he was going to drop me. I press myself against his form, closing my eyes for no apparent reason.

"What's wrong?" He asks in alarm, his arms not moving from their position.

"N-nothing. Just please…" I say with hysteria, "Don't drop me." I whisper, my whole body tensing up. Great, now he's probably going to laugh or something at my sudden, stupid fear.

"Silly," he says as he starts to walk back to the house.

"I'd never do that."
