I've been feeling an itch to write, and the major writers block for this story disappeared after I went through from chapter one and changed a few things. If you are new to this story, then you are okay. If you haven't read since my last update all those years ago, then please go and read it from chapter one. The prologue has not changed except for one word.

Thank you to all of you for being patient. I hope to continue with the story and not get stuck like before.

Chapter Three

"We have to share a bathroom?" Lily asked, her voice raising with each word.

"I didn't know," James said with a shrug, looking afraid for the fight he was expecting.

her anger grew at the thought of having to share a bathroom with James, and looking at him on the other side of the bathroom was making her even angrier.

Lily closed her door without answering him. Lily couldn't go yelling at him now that she was trying to friends with him. Besides, she thought to herself, it wasn't his fault. How could she expect him to know they would have to share a bathroom if she didn't?

With a deep breath Lily opened the door again, and saw that James had closed his door too. Not thinking about it, she went through the bathroom to the door that led to his room and opened it.

His room surprised her, to say the least. The walls were a dark blue, the opposite of her pale blue. The desk and dresser a dark colour of wood, which matched the simple bed frame, black covers adorned the bed.

James sitting on his bed, looking at Lily wondering what she was going to do.

"Lily? What are you doing?" He asked.

"I wanted to apologize; I didn't want you to think I was angry at you." answered Lily, staying where she was at the door. There was no way she was going any farther.

"Thanks Lil," he said about to get up off the bed.

Lily left quickly before he could get up. She closed his door and half ran to her room closing it too, before collapsing on her floor shaking and gasping for a breath.

Flashbacks crept into her mind.

Flashback 1:

"Lily, darling, come in here and help daddy with something, please," I heard his voice come from upstairs, it didn't have the hardness it had since I first got home from Hogwarts.

"Coming daddy!" I ran up the stairs, not wanting to upset him.

"I'm in my room doll," I went to his room, and opened it.

"There's my gorgeous girl!" He came stumbling to me, holding a glass with a strong and yucky smell, and the smell came off his breath. He put the drink down on the ground before grabbing me around the waist and flung me onto his bed.

"Now, Lily dear, don't say a word about this. This here, this is special." He undid his belt and came climbing onto the bed.

Flashback 2:

"Oh Lily dearest, where are you?" I heard him calling from upstairs, using that voice that I dread and came to fear more than the harsh voice that came with physical pain.

"I'm in the kitchen daddy," I felt my body tremble.

"There's my buttercup," he came up to me and round his arms around me kissing my neck.

Flashback 3:

I felt a tug on my hair before the slap that woke me.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" Inside I groaned; this is not going to be a good day.

"I'm sorry daddy, what time is it?" Knowing it wasn't that early, the sun wasn't even up yet.

"3:00 in the morning! You know the rules, you gotta keep me satisfied, woman!" I saw his eyes flash with hunger before he ripped the sheets away from me and tore my night shirt off me.

"Lily? Lily!" she could faintly hear someone calling her name.

"Oh damn it, Lil! Get up, oh Merlin, Lil!" She felt hands touching her face and arms, pushing hair out of her face.

Lily opened my eyes and saw James, who was bent over her wearing a worried expression. Once James saw that Lily's eyes were open, relief washed over him.

"Lily? Are you okay? What happened? I heard you scream, then I came in and found you on the ground shaking," James looked so concerned it actually pained her to see him this way and not give him the answers he wanted. "What happened?" He repeated the question.

"I don't really remember." The lie rolling of her tongue easily.

"Are you sure?" James asked, bringing his hand up to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear before helping her sit up.

"Yeah, I just remember coming in and the rest is blank. I'm sorry,"Lily said looking at him.

"That's not something to be sorry for Lil, I'm just glad that you're okay. You are okay, right?" The concern in his voice came through again.

"I'm okay James," Lily tried getting up but her legs wouldn't hold her up. James caught her before she fell and carried her to her bed, laying her down on top her of blanket.

Lily started to hyperventilate remembering things that happened to her from all the times her father has done something kind like James just had, but would then take advantage of her.

"Get some sleep, it'll help." James put his hand to her cheek before leaving through the door that led to their shared bathroom. His mind whirling, trying to piece together what happened.

Lily stayed tense, sitting in her bed until she finally realized that James wasn't coming back. She was safe, she slipped into a deep sleep.

Lily woke up feeling extremely well rested to her surprise, and with just enough time to get ready for breakfast without rushing. She went to open her door, carefully and slowly in case James had locked it or had forgotten to. Finding it empty Lily went to the other side to lock James' door, and began her morning routine. She couldn't help but think that whoever came up with the design to this, for two people to share a bathroom like this was just not thinking at all.

Lily was just finishing up when James tried to open his door, which scared her so bad that she nearly dropped her mascara.

"Just a sec! I'm almost done." Lily called out, putting the mascara away and giving herself one last look on the mirror.

She walked over to his door and unlocked it, and was barely out of the way when James came bursting in.

"Lily, Lily. Please, go. I really, really, have to pee. I tried waiting but I couldn't and this is just gonna happen if you don't get out of here." James said with such speed Lily almost didn't catch what he was saying.

With a nervous laugh Lily quickly got out of there, heading to straight to her dresser. Once she changed, she decided to wait for James in common room so they could walk to breakfast together.

James came down not too long after Lily had sat down with a book to wait for him.

"Did you wait for me?" He asked.

"Yeah, I figured if we're doing the friend thing we can start by going to breakfast together." Lily said standing up, puttering her book on the coffee table.

"Cool, yeah. That sounds good," James said with a smile.

They went through the painting, and began their short walk to the Great Hall which started off a little awkward. Neither of them really knowing what to say. Their track record together has been pretty terrible, but that can be turned around. Right?

"You know that book that you always carry around? To Kill a Mockingbird?" James asked suddenly.

"Yes, of course." It's one of her favourites, she always tries to read it once a year. Which means she carries it around with her almost everywhere.

"Well, I borrowed it from a," James paused, "a library. It's actually really good Lil. I had always thought that it wouldn't have been because, well, it's a book but I enjoyed it."

Lily actually missed a step from shock, James read a book. And not any book, but a book he has seen so many times in her hands and he actually read it.

"Wow, what did you like about it?" She asked.

He smiled, and launched into great detail about what he enjoyed and what he didn't. They spent the rest of the walk deeply discussing the book until they reached the Great Hall.

"Would you, uh, would you want to sit with me today?" Lily asked, spotting Alice and Marlene.

James took a second to answer, smiling a little to himself. "Sure, would you mind if I went to tell the guys to join us?"

"Of course," Lily says, walking over to sit beside Alice.

As soon as she sat down they were both looking at her funny.

"Look, before either of you say anything. James and the rest of the guys are coming over to eat breakfast with us. So please. Behave and I'll tell all the little details on the way to class."

Before they could answer Sirius plopped down beside Marlene, "So what do we have over here?" He asked to nobody as he went around the table grabbing everything he could get his hands on and started to stuff his face.

"Really Padfoot, even in front of the girls?" James said, taking a seat beside Lily.

Sirius said something that no one could understand, Marlene looked at him with her eyebrow arched.

"Well, now that the dog is here. How was everyone's summer?" Marlene looked at James as she said it.

Behave Marlene, Lily couldn't help but think as James opened his mouth to answer her.

"Pretty much the same as always, you know my parents. They leave most of the summer to do work stuff all over the country."

"You locked yourself up in your room to read all those books, definitely not the same." Sirius exclaimed with his mouth half full.

James shot him a glare, not everyone needed to know how he really spent his summer. James was too bust pretending that Sirius didn't say anything to notice that Lily kept looking over at him until they departed for class. Even then, she glanced back once before turning a corner.

For the record, I do know have changed events that Rowling said to have happened to fit the plot of this story! Thank you for sticking with me and please, review! I would love some feedback!
