How long has it been since I last updated? Writing an author's note sure feels nostalgic…. This chapter has minor (AND I REPEAT= MINOR) spoilers for The Hidden Oracle, but only so because it reveals Percy is on the swim team. THAT'S IT.
Dear Mortals,
Do you know what sucks? Being on the high school swim team.
I mean, I'm the son of Poseidon and all, but that, in a way, is actually a problem. See, technically all I do is manipulate the water to make it propel me forwards, and BAM! I can swim. No lessons needed!
But I have to remember to breathe. Like, above water. Once I forgot and that led to a lot of complicated stuff and a huge lecture from Chiron.
And the arm motions need to be correct too, or else it looks weird if I'm just laying there and moving at the same time (Though wouldn't that be so much easier?). And I can't win, as frustrating as that sounds. It was one of the rules Annabeth created when she found out I joined- "Remember, Seaweed Brain, don't win. After all, you can't be too good or people will get suspicious.". Ah, the woes of the extremely lucky to have water powers -er, I mean the naturally talented, of course!
Using demigod powers isn't cheating right(?),
Percy
I don't know how many of my readers actually read the author's notes, but if you do, please check out the blog a-cm-of-happiness on wordpress. It's a blog one of my friends started lately and I hope you check it out. :) If you don't want too, it's okay, no pressure or anything. But if you do, just search up "a-cm-of-happiness wordpress" and if you see a page with a girl whose brown hair is tied into a ponytail and wearing a blue sweater, you've got it.
