A/N: Watching America's Next Top Model while writing this lol...hope there's not too many mistakes. I think this chapter is more of a filler but it's still an important chapter.

Got a feeling that I'm going under,

But I know that I'll make it out alive.

If I quit calling you my lover

Move on.

You watch me bleed until I can't breathe

I'm shaking, falling onto my knees

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches.

-Shawn Mendes, "Stitches"

"Goodbye John Adams! I will not miss you, farewell! Farewell!" Pru yelled spinning around the hallway throwing confetti around.

Topanga laughed at her cousin after emptying her locker. She knew Pru would be happy that today was the last day and thought that she would skip out on coming to school since it is a half-day. Topanga also noticed that Pru seemed to be in higher spirits lately and didn't have to know that Shawn had something do with that.

"Miss. Jewel I would appreciate it if you didn't add more work for the janitors this evening. I hope you have a great summer, Miss. Lawrence." Mr. Feeny finished with a nod as he walked by the two girls.

Topanga glanced over her shoulder as she answered Mr. Feeny, "You too Mr. Feeny."

Pru snorted, fixing the straps on her bag, "Kiss up."

Topanga shook her head at her cousin leading the way out of the building, "How am I being a kiss up? Mr. Feeny is one of the best teachers we will ever have and I'm just being friendly."

"Uh huh." Pru mumbled as the sunlight reflected off her eyes.

The two girls set on their journey around town instead of heading home. It was a beautiful day to just enjoy the sun-rays and who wants to be stuck inside when the sun wants you to come out and play? Pru stopped into her favorite bakery and waved at the couple who owned it.

"Mr. and Mrs. Westbrooks! How are ya? This is my cousin Topanga."

Mrs. Westbrook smiled warmly at both of the girls, "Hello Pru. So that's your name...Topanga? It's very sophisticated. I always love the sound of uncommon names but my mother just had to name me Madeline."

Topanga smiled, "Well I think Madeline sounds pretty sophisticated. Don't you Pru?"

Pru shrugged her shoulders; she had her eyes on the the doughnuts that were calling her name. Mr. Westbrooks noticed that and grasped onto Pru's hands with both of his with a wide smile, "What can I get for you?"

While Topanga and Madeline carried on their conversations about names, Pru ordered as many goods as she could. Pru was one of the Westbrooks' favorite customers since she tended to spend the most money inside of the bakery. Pru held onto her tray and turned to the shop eyeing a place to sit, after her eyes darted around for a bit she spotted a window seat.

"Pru when you come back to pay, We would like to discuss something with you if that's alright?" Mrs. Westbrook asked the average height girl.

Pru glanced over her shoulder her eyes meeting Madeline's and with a small nod she lead the way over to the bar stools. Topanga spun in her stool as she plopped down while Pru ripped the wrapping paper from her double fudge brownie with white chocolate chips. She wasted no time devouring the two brownies as she watched people walk by the bakery with shopping bags on their wrist.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Topanga asked, placing her hand over her mouth as she chewed on her banana nut muffin.

Pru ran her tongue over her teeth getting the rest of the fudge off and let out a small burp. Topanga raised her eyebrows at that and glanced around to see if any remaining members in the bakery heard.

"Shawn has a coin collection." Pru started, grabbing the sugar m&m cookies.

Topanga tossed her hair against her back, nibbling on the muffin before saying, "Oh really? I didn't know Shawn collected things like that."

Pru bit into the cookie, "Yeah...he showed me last night. I spent time with him and Jett."

Topanga listened carefully. Shawn was in the process of living with Mr. Turner until Mr. Hunter ended up getting arrested the same time Shawn did for not paying his parking tickets. Topanga was also aware that Cory talked to Mr. Hunter trying to persuade the man to come back because Shawn missed him dearly.

"I was wondering where you went." Topanga commented, "Did you have fun? I always have fun when I go to the Matthews."

Pru knew that it was only a matter of time that Topanga and Cory would get back together. The two were just meant to be, no matter what they went through they would always find themselves back in each other's arms. Now that Shawn was...Pru's boyfriend she wondered if that would be the case for the both of them. Their relationship is something that Pru always valued, Shawn finally got the girl that challenged him. Pru did not want to persue a relationship with Shawn because she loved their friendship more and that was a constant battle with herself. Somehow she gave in. Somehow she wanted to give this a go.

"Yeah it was...nice. We played stick ball, watched the game, Jett burned the mac and cheese so I ended up making hot dogs and beans for everyone. Then Shawn and I went back to his room. It was different than I remembered it...older. He had lots of movie posters up on his walls and he showed me his coin collection. I teased him about since he liked to tease Minkus on his butterfly collection. There were no doubts running through my head anymore about us when we lay side by side on his bed that night."

Topanga's smile dropped as she took in Pru's dazed stare, "Then why do you look worried?"

Pru didn't give her cousin an answer right away. Instead she finished her cookies and moved onto her scones keeping her eyes on the locals who appeared and faded from her view. Topanga waited patiently for Pru to answer but she could feel herself wanting to say something more.

"Shawn told me that during the summer he was going to go tour the world with his dad. I'm not upset over that because I totally get it. He misses his father and wants to spend time with him but I don't see Jett sticking around. That sounds horrible doesn't it? I'm judging his father's character when he's a nice guy but I feel like he's too worried about himself. He goes after Shawn's mom, leaving his son by himself for a year. He wouldn't have came back to Philly if he didn't get caught with the parking tickets. I just don't want Shawn to get hurt after their trip...what if he doesn't stay?"

Topanga smiled at the concern Pru showed for Shawn. Pru had feelings, Topanga knew that but the girl didn't show them that much. They usually came out by accident or bluntly but this time Pru was straight forward. She knew how important it is to have a relationship with your parent(s) or whoever raised you, she just hoped that Mr. Hunter would take Shawn's feelings into consideration this time.

"If you don't have faith in Jett then have faith in Shawn. Just be there for him if that happens, that's all you can do. Pick him up as many times as he's done for you."

Pru turned to Topanga not saying a thing. Of course she would never say that she had doubts of Shawn's father to Shawn's face. She knew how to keep things to herself but she hated seeing anyone she cared about get hurt in the end. There is a part of Pru that knew that she might be the one to hurt Shawn the most and she would not be okay with that.

"What if I'm not there and he comes back early? I don't want to be one who's not there for him."

Topanga grasped Pru's hands, "Oh Pru. Where will you possibly go? You're going to come back eventually and if that happens then he always has Cory until you do come back. Don't overact...everything will be fine."

Pru ran her fingers through her hair, "That's just it Pangz. I don't know if I will come back."

"What do you mean?" Confusion was written on Topanga's face.

"I'm going to Virginia Beach for the summer. I was accepted into the music program and they called earlier this morning telling me that they are offering me a permanent spot at the school for junior year."

Topanga threw her arms around Pru's shoulders, "Oh my god that's great PJ!"

Pru sighed, "Yeah it is but...I just need to break the news to Shawn that I might not be coming back."

Pru met Shawn at the park later that night. She didn't attend Eric's graduation get together because she was too trapped in her own thoughts. She didn't know how she would break it to Shawn and Pru didn't know how he would react. Pru was unaware if she wanted to stay at the school permanently she would just have to see how it went to determine what she truly wanted to do. Right away she spotted Shawn sitting on a swing and he pushed himself off walking the distance to meet in the middle. Once the two were close enough Shawn cupped Pru's face and wrapped his arm around the small of her back, pressing their lips together while lifting her a bit. Pru fought the urge to laugh into the kiss but Shawn could taste her laughter, that was something he loved to do when they kissed. He knew the effect he had on Pru when it came to their lips saying hello and he hoped he could taste her laughter for eternity.

"Hey." Pru greeted as Shawn placed her on her two feet.

Shawn intertwined their hands heading over to the swings, "Hey."

The two sat side by side on the swings, they sat in silence enjoying each other's company and the rather irritating squeaks the chains made above their heads.

"So what do you want to talk about?" Shawn turned his head to Pru.

Pru kept her eyes on the flock of birds who ripped through the sky drifting to the small stars that showed their light. The brunette often found herself jealous of birds or anyone that could get a chance to see the stars as close as they could. In school when she was younger and the question came up about what super power would you like, she always answered flight. The stars made her feel like there is still good in the world. She had something good, she had Shawn. Pru wanted to see the world and wondered if the stars looked different no matter where she went.

"Pru?" Shawn called his girlfriend's attention.

Pru turned to Shawn watching concern appear between his eyebrows. Pru leaned forward wrapping her arm through the chain and through Shawn's arm along with the chain. "You might not like what I have to say."

"Oh no." Shawn mumbled glancing down at his lap before meeting Pru's eyes.

"I got accepted into the symphony program and that's where I'll be this summer."

Shawn grinned, "That's great Pru! I'm proud of you."

With a thin smile Pru felt her heart become a bit warmer at what Shawn just said. Pru's never been told that someone was proud of her and to hear Shawn say that made her insides go haywire.

"Thanks...but there's more," Pru watched as Shawn frowned and continued shakily, "The school called this morning before I left for the day and they told me that they're holding a position for me to attend the school regularly."

Shawn's frown only deepened, "Meaning...?"

Pru closed her eyes not waiting to see any other emotion on Shawn's face as she said this, "Meaning that I would leave John Adams and go to Virginia Beach for my junior year."

When Pru felt herself swing backwards that's when she realized that Shawn unhooked their arms, giving their selves a great amount of distance. Her eyes opened as she saw Shawn standing with his back to her, he had his head tilted towards the sky and his hands on his hips. Shawn took a deep breath as he spun around to face Pru, "Is this because I'm leaving for pretty much the whole summer with my dad?"

"No. That has nothing to do with this at all, I'm happy that you're spending time with dad you need that."

Shawn chewed on his bottom lip before adding, "Well I need you too. Just like you need me."

Pru pulled herself off the swing and stood in front of Shawn, "I didn't say that I was going to accept. I don't even know if I'll like the school, I just thought I should tell you about this great opportunity."

"Yeah...yeah it is a great opportunity if it were here. If it were here in Philadelphia then I'd let you do it."

Pru crossed her arms playing over what Shawn just said, "You would let me do it?"

Shawn bit down on his bottom lip and placed his hand on Pru's shoulder but she stepped back out of his touch. "I didn't mean it like that and you know that."

"Shawn...Virginia Beach is five hours away. It's not like I would be that far away from you."

"So you are thinking about leaving? After we fought so hard to be together you're just going to throw it away from some school?!"

"Some school?! Shawn that school could determine my future, it could open up big doors for my music. If I can remember correctly, You were the one who pushed me to send in those tapes."

"What you're basically saying is that you don't see me in your future. You know what? I wished I never convinced you to send those tapes in because you wouldn't consider leaving me." Shawn turned his back to Pru not liking the way this girl made him feel.

"I never said I didn't see you in my future! I don't want to leave you but- I just thought you would be happy for me." Pru placed her hand on chest as she voiced her vulnerability to Shawn.

"I would be if you weren't miles away. This is just a great day, I get my father back and find out that my girlfriend won't be here when I get back."

Pru thought about this. She understood where Shawn was coming from, his mother left, his father left, and now she could possibly be leaving. She's never tried a long distance relationship before and she knew Shawn's never done that before but if their relationship meant anything they would try. Pru didn't make her decision about the school just yet but she would however keep an open mind about it.

"I want you to miss me like I'm going to miss you when you're with your dad. You play a big factor in what my decision will be but I'm not going to let you control what I do. I care about you and I want your support. I want you to miss because I won't always be available to you twenty-four seven, we need that. We need to be able to trust each other with distance in between in us. This way we won't take each other for granted and if one of us gets an opportunity that might change our lives, the other has to understand and let them do it without the other holding them back." Pru stated as she wrapped her arms around Shawn's shoulders.

He clenched his jaw not meeting Pru's eyes. He was clearly upset and knew that Pru always knew what she wanted even if she tried to down play it. Pru placed her forehead to Shawn's breathing in his scent, feeling his hands press against her back, they had each other.

"I want to be with for as long as I can. I want to care about you for as long as I can." Shawn whispered opening his eyes and his eyes said it all.

Pru gave Shawn a painful smile before kissing his lips. Shawn gently rubbed Pru's back as he pushed her closer to his body, the small of his tongue could be felt against her lips. When Pru broke the kiss she stepped back running her fingertips against her lips trying to remember the kiss for as long as she could.

"Now what?" Shawn breathed.

Pru gave Shawn once last smile, "That's the fun and the most scariest part Hunter. Who knows?"

And she made her way out of the park leaving Shawn standing there. He licked his lips not liking the way that particular kiss tasted, it tasted like goodbye.

A/N: I made this chapter short for a reason...I know how much you probably want to yell and scream at me right now but this had to happen for a reason.
