A/N: I had to write this to keep my mind off everything that is happening behind this screen. I had this idea for this chapter for awhile now...I just lacked the motivation to do so. I'm here now! Enjoy this for me :)

Lookin' back I see myself, all alone with no one else.

You say I'm goin' nowhere, but come along if you dare.

Yeah I got a fast car, and I know it's gonna take me far.

You say I'm goin' nowhere, but come along if you dare.

'Cause I got a hole deep down in my soul,

And I don't wanna let nobody know,

So I'll just bury myself deep inside till I can't breathe anymore.

Shawn loved the time he spent with his father on the road. To him it felt like this was the most he's seen of his father in a very long time and he knew he would cherish every moment they had together. From city to city Shawn made sure that he collected as many things from each state so he could brag about what the sights were like to him. He also picked up a journal from one of the stores at the boardwalk in Atlantic city. Shawn was not sure why he grabbed the journal, there was nothing special about it. The small journal was cover in brown leather, it smelled like your average book and Shawn was not fond of reading books unless they had babes in swimwear. The pages held a yellowish tone to it and around midnight he was up on the bed he occupied right beside his father just thinking. It was only then that Shawn pulled the journal from the small bedside table running his fingers over the material wondering what he should do from there.

These past two weeks with his dad made Shawn feel just like a little kid again. His mother, Shawn felt a pang of sorrow hit his chest thinking of the woman, would suggest that the family should take a road trip just to explore the city. Shawn didn't come from money but he always felt thrilled when his mother would bring it up and he wanted to see the world one day. Sadly his mother filled his head with details of certain cities and what adventures they could go on as a family but it never happened. Something always got in the way and money was always the cause of it. Shawn stared up at the hideous wallpaper that made the motel room, even through the dark he could still see the teal that surrounded the sea shells that danced against the walls.

Shawn let out a sigh as his father's snoring became louder. He grabbed the pen that lay beside the lamp along with the small flashlight he picked up from Washington and turned away from his father's snoring. Shawn pulled the covers over his head, clicking on the small flashlight that had the Pentagon decorated against it then placed it into his mouth, he flipped his journal open to the first page. For what felt like a numerous amount of minutes (whatever that totaled up to be) Shawn pressed his pen against the large open space towards the right corner.

June 13th, 1996 - Maine

Dear Moon,

Shawn paused as he stared at what he just wrote. As hard as he tried every city that he traveled to he could not stop thinking about one girl in particular, and it was not his mother this time. Pru was on his mind from the moment he woke up to the moment he went to sleep. He didn't mean to scold her for going through the opportunity that was offered to her. Especially since he encouraged her to send in the tapes. Although she was very blunt when it came to her future he knew that she was just as scared for it as he was. Now that he thought back on it he hated that he acted so selfish on the whole issue. He knew that it bothered her that he said the things that he said but he didn't want her to leave, not when he just got her back. Shawn was unsure where the two stood and that irritated him endlessly. To Pru it seemed like a rush for her, for fun. Shawn wondering if Pru thought this was all a game, to see who would crack first. Shawn hasn't spoken to her since that night in the park, he didn't have the number to call the school, and he knew if he called the Lawrence household and Topanga's mother answered she would most likely shun him away.

The fifteen year old could not stand how this girl made him feel. All attached. Shawn Hunter never got attached to any girl before but Pru had him wrapped around her finger, however he would never admit that to her. Shawn rubbed his eyes feeling exhausted just thinking about her and how she made him feel. He couldn't think straight, his head felt hazy, and his heart felt like it was soaring just thinking about her see-through eyes that resembled a country spring field on a clear day with the sun shinning, how they changed to a deep teal when she was upset, to how the light freckles on her nose crinkled when she became disinterested in something, how her hair felt when his combed his fingers through, or how her kisses were almost better than his. Shawn closed his journal knowing that he could not put his feelings about Pru into words. Clicking the flashlight off, Shawn closed his eyes hoping that he dreamed about his girlfriend and only her.

The next morning Shawn and Chet Hunter packed up their things getting ready to head out onto the road yet again. Shawn did not know how long his father would keep him along for the ride since his father admitted to him last night that he was still in search of his mother. That only made Shawn want to stay by Chet's side because he knew how much his father cared about the woman and would not give up on her. Shawn was very confused when his mother became a subject, he didn't understand why she would just up and leave her family like that. The whole situation did not make any sense and he felt deeply hurt about it. Chet informed his son that he wanted to do it on his own and that he enjoyed spending time with him. Chet said that in the first week of July he would have to bring Shawn back to Philadelphia to continue his search for his wife which made the teen highly upset.

Shawn did not understand why his father did not want his son to help him search for the woman. Shawn figured something must have happened for his mother to run away in the first place and curious to know if his father had something to do with it. Chet would never tell Shawn since he still looked at him like a child and a child did not need to know about adult issues...at least that was Chet's perspective on it. Chet and Shawn parted ways after exiting the mini mart with breakfast burritos leaving Shawn to head down to the beach one last time while Chet got the RV's oil changed. Shawn was just on his way down to the beach with the burrito in hand and stopped spotting a payphone on his way.

Not only did Shawn have his mother to worry about but he also had Pru trapped inside of his mind. Shawn searched his shorts pockets for some change to enter into the slot but only found half. Shawn spoke with the operator then waited for the person to pick up on the opposite side, "If this is a telemarketer we don't want any of your hoot nanny!"

Shawn chuckled, "Hey Cor. It's me Shawn."

"Oh, Shawn! How are ya?! Where are you now?" Cory let out a round of questions, happy that he heard from his friend.

Cory sure felt a little lonely without his girlfriend or his best friend by his side. However he sent as many letters as his parents would allow him to the long haired beauty.

"I'm okay. We're leaving Maine in a bit, How you've been?" Shawn questioned turning away from a girl in a bikini who skated by.

Cory nodded his head as he munched on Morgan's sandwich making sure the young blonde wasn't around, "Great! How are the beaches? I heard they were lovely! Things here are as good as can be, Feeny let me help him with his garden and offered some tips for me to help my mom with her lilies."

Shawn groaned hearing the things his best friend's done while he's been gone. In a way he felt bad for the boy, "Seriously Cory? Gardening? That's how you've been spending your time? When I come back which will be in early July you and I are going to the park to play kick ball or something. That honestly sounds like a snooze fest."

"It's really not that bad. You can learn a lot from plants, Shawn." Cory answered with a bright smile still placed on his face.

"Yeah, okay. Cory can I ask you something?" Shawn pressed the phone closer to him.

Cory easily picked up the tone of his best friend's voice, "Of course you can buddy!"

Shawn swallowed playing around with the gold chain around his neck, "It's about Pru."

"Ohhh! I knew the time would come when you would ask me for advice on girls. I always dreamed this moment," Cory sighed staring off into the distance.

Shawn scoffed, "Cory...don't let this get to your head. Look ever since that night in the park, you remember 'cause I told you at Eric's party. I can't stop thinking about her, every city my dad and I went to I see her and I know she's not really there although I wish she could be. She's the first person I think of when I wake up and dream of at night. With her everything is confusing but it also makes sense. I didn't want her to leave Cory, I've gotten so attached to her and it's driving me insane. Ever since I left I keep feeling this pull to go to her because I always want her by my side. I-I actually consider her my girlfriend when I for one don't do long relationships but whenever I look into her eyes...she changes that. I know for sure I don't want anybody else kissing her lips because those belong to me. Do you see what I'm getting at?"

Cory thought his cheeks were going to rip listening to the way his friend spilled his feelings to him over the line. The curly haired boy knew that their time would be cut short since the operator just told the two, "Shawn I think you have officially fell in love. Don't deny it! That is what love feels like: confusing, crazy, and magnificent. Shawn the only thing you need to do is tell her how you feel and see where things go from there."

Falling in love? Shawn couldn't possibly be falling in love with Pru, could he? Just the thought of falling in love with someone made Shawn believe that was impossible. He looked at his own parents and knew that they cared for each other but they couldn't care that much for each other if his own mother decided to up and leave. He looked at Feeny and the man's always been alone but the man taught him so much. Feeny didn't depend on love like all the adults Shawn knew. Cory's parents...they were in love and they represented it well creating three children and still found time to hold a connection. Shawn looked at Mr. Turner and saw himself through the man. Shawn felt inspired with the way that Mr. Turner brought different women around but they never seemed to work out. Shawn was just like that and that was only because he didn't allow himself to get attached to them not realizing that he broke most of their hearts. Then he looked at Cory and Topanga. Shawn always knew they would end up together from the very first moment they met at the park. Shawn didn't think it was possible for himself to fall in love since he did not like being tied down by one girl. As for Pru, Pru didn't believe in relationships. She didn't believe in them since she looked at her parents who shared so much love for each other just for her father to turn around and murder the love of life. The insecurities the two teens held would always get in the way but Shawn promised Pru that he would try and so did Pru.

Shawn didn't get the chance to say goodbye to Cory now hearing the dial tone, he was so caught up in the idea of love that he started thinking about the subject deeply. Is love really worth it? Is love real? Could he possibly be in love at such a young age? He was sure that he liked the previous girls he's dated but love? That made him nervous. Shawn hung up the phone taking a deep breath and made his way back to the gas station. Shawn climbed inside the passenger seat where Chet sat in the driver's seat with a map on his lap.

"Do you have any idea where you want to go next?" Chet's spoke, his voice resembling a sailor.

Shawn glanced over at US map and pointed at the place he wanted to go.

Chet let out a whistle, "Virginia beach huh? That's gonna be a long ride my boy!"

Shawn didn't care how long it took as he strapped himself into the car while his father started the engine. As the two Hunter's rode onto the empty road Chet questioned, "Why Virginia Beach?"

"Pru's there." Shawn said softly, not wanting to meet his father's eyes.

Chet glanced over at his son and chuckled not bothering to say anything more.

Pru sat on the piano bench scribbling out notes that did not sound right. Pru sat in the cabin with Julian Lane who sat in a plushy chair near by spinning his bow around as Pru mumbled to herself. It's been two weeks in Virginia beach and Pru had class with Julian, Rocco, and McKenna. The first week was a usual week of getting to know your teacher, introducing yourself to the class and a personal one on one with your teacher which took a week for all teachers since each class had about 18-22 students. The second week had just began and the teacher already assigned the class a partner and to come up with a piece that they would have to play in front of the entire class. Pru was not surprised that her teacher made Julian her partner and was a bit annoyed that McKenna teased her about it. Pru didn't know why McKenna dropped hints every chance that she had for Pru to make a move on Julian.

McKenna's partner was Rocco and Pru found that the boy played electric guitar. McKenna did not really care for the instrument but she would make it work with her own lyrics. The assignment was to challenge yourself and go out of your comfort zone. Their teacher watched all of their tapes and provided constructive criticism on every one on one meeting he had with each student. Their teacher was strict and wanted something extremely diffcult that would surprise anyone. He said every piece could be as long as they wanted as long it wasn't twenty minutes he would accept it. Pru also heard that their teacher tended to be a very difficult grader and had very little patience. He announced that if he did not like a piece after 2 minutes the pair would fail.

Pru always took her music seriously and she liked the challenge. The man seemed like a true asshole but at least he was honest about what he expected from his new students. Julian found Pru in the cabin around six that morning already trying out different tempos for the piece they work with and the girl did not want to take a single break. Julian even brought food back for the girl to eat but she didn't bother. Pru and Julian were the last on the list who had to present their project to the class and she felt herself falling into the dark abyss who went by the name anxiety. Julian's arctic blue's glanced at the clock to see that it was now going on 8 pm. The two had one more day to get their piece together by Monday. There were five more pairs that needed to present their project before them, one of pairs which included McKenna and Rocco.

"Hey Pru. I think almost fourteen hours is enough for today." Julian stated leaning forward on his knees.

Pru raised her eyebrows taking a deep breath with her pencil still entwined with her fingers, "If you want to quit for today you certainly can. I'm working on the part that is going to knock Mr. Brown's right on his ass. See you play your strings with me for the first two minutes lightly but this one particular part is going to be breath taking. I just need to figure out the notes that will fit best on the violin."

Julian moved to sit on the piano bench beside Pru, "After we figure out this part together can we please get dinner? I'm sure your starving, you didn't eat breakfast or lunch."

Pru couldn't promise that. This needed to be perfect. She kept her eyes on the sheets in front of her not saying a word, Julian grabbed her chin noticing her breathing hitch even though she tried her best to hide it. Julian stared into Pru's eyes liking how they shined with determination, "Promise me."

Pru felt like she were in a trance keeping her eyes trained on Julian's, "Yeah sure. I promise," She muttered clearing her throat quickly turning back to her piano keys to play the most challenging part of the song.

Julian listened carefully as Pru played the beginning of the song with just the piano keys already having the strings playing along in his head. Pru started to press against the keys quickly almost as if her fingertips did not even touch the keys. Julian nodded his head to how quick the rhythm started to change from how soft it started off. Pru figured that the beginning should start off soothingly slow as Julian matched her tone effortlessly before writing the notes he played down on his own sheet of paper. Julian stood to his feet resting his chin on the violin, angling his bow and setting his fingers against the strings as he closed his eyes while Pru started the part again. Julian brushed the bow against the strings getting lost in the melody clenching his fingers against the strings every time he brushed the bow downwards. Pru almost stopped playing against the keys at how her heart raced at the tone their piece now sounded. Pru pressed on another key which Julian followed with the e-string not bothering to open his eyes.

Pru pulled her hands from the keys waiting for Julian to open his eyes. Pru had the brightest smile on her face as she jumped off the bench running over to Julian who pulled the instrument from his chin shocked that Pru pulled him into a bone-crushing hug. Her love for music made Julian fall for her more as he wrapped his arms around the girl as best as he could. When Pru pulled back he felt so much joy inside that he made her happy. Pru was just so mysterious and so beautiful. Just like her dedication when it came to music, beautiful inside and out.

Julian couldn't help but move his eyes down to her lips...

.,.,.

Shawn felt his heart squeeze as he stood in front of the door. The whiteboard on the door had Pru and McKenna written on it and he paced in front of the door fighting the nerve to get inside. Shawn had no idea how he would tell Pru that he was in love with her. Is it too early to say that? Did Pru consider Shawn her's? What if he scared her off? Shawn was not one to fall in love in the first place and he didn't think he was compable. He's known for the very first moment they met that he liked her. When they became friends at a young age, Shawn always felt the need to protect her and Pru always had his back when Shawn got into fights. Pru was right behind him swinging while Cory and Topanga ran to get the adults. She had to feel the same way right?

Shawn turned just in time for a girl to stare up at him with a frown. McKenna eyed the boy up and down a small smile appearing on her lips, "Let me guess you're looking for Pru?"

"Yeah...is she here?" Shawn asked, peeking over McKenna's head into the room.

McKenna was much shorter than Shawn and Pru combined. The girl stepped out of the room closing the door, "Nah."

Shawn frowned as McKenna made her way down the hallway and moved to follow after the strange girl. She was dressed in green and black stripped jeans with a white short sleeve t-shirt that looked as if caterpillars chewed on it and a black hat that had so many feathers around the brim. Shawn held his hands out as he walked beside the girl, "Well do you know where I can find her?"

"Yeah." McKenna answered shortly pressing on the elevator button.

"Are you going to tell me?" Shawn felt his patience wearing thin.

McKenna stepped into the elevator waiting for the boy with the good hair to enter with her, "Uh huh. But first you have to tell me who you are 'cause I don't want just anybody going after my friend. You could be a psycho for all I know."

Shawn understood that, "I'm Shawn. Shawn Hunter."

McKenna eyed Shawn up and down with a smile, "So you're the kinda boyfriend. Damn, Pru sure knows how to pick 'em."

"Pru talks about me?" Shawn smirked.

McKenna chomped on her gum watching the numbers go down, "Yeah she's mentioned you. She's down at the cabins where us music kids practice our instruments. I can take you there since it's by the caf."

Shawn followed McKenna as she led the way. Shawn couldn't help to question the girl, "What do you mean when you said 'kinda boyfriend'?"

McKenna kicked a rock out of her way turning to walk over a bridge, "Like I said before Pru's mentioned you. I asked her if she had a boyfriend and she said kinda. She doesn't talk much in the first place and I tried my best to squeeze it out of her and she started telling me bits and pieces about you guys. The description she gave me about you did not do you justice," McKenna eyed Shawn once more which made the boy grin, "Don't worry. I won't try and steal her from you."

Shawn didn't have time to figure out what that meant as he spotted the only cabin that had lights still on coming up ahead. McKenna led the way up the long ramp and up some steps chatting with the boy, "I don't know much about the two of you but I know there must be some kind of connection if you came all the way here to visit."

Shawn let out a breathy laugh after telling McKenna his dad drove him thirteen almost fourteen hours here. McKenna held the door open for Shawn and his dark sea green eyes lifted to the sight in front of him. There stood Pru in the arms of some other guy and it looked as if they were about to kiss.

"Oh my god!" McKenna yelled.

Pru jumped back glancing at her roommate before meeting Shawn's eyes pushing Julian away from her a bit. She circled around Julian who spun around to see what was going on to make her way over to the boy, "Shawn...what are you doing here?"

The look in Shawn's eyes said it all. Pru didn't like the look in his eyes, the look seemed as if he were disconnecting himself if that made sense. His fists clenched as he started to breathe heavily closing his eyes shut as they began to burn, he peeled them back open to stare at Pru one last time before he shoved his way pass McKenna leaving everything behind. Shawn ignored Pru calling after him and started to run as far as he could away from her, from everything and everyone. When he found the will to stop running he dropped to the ground struggling to breathe as he realized that Pru didn't love him back.
