The Shadow of Fire

Chapter 21: Spearheaded

Saturn limped along the stone walk ways of Vale, walking along with a few armed guards in tow. His recent battle with team RWBY's Ruby and Weiss had cause a lot of injuries to his body. His mind was hard at work, deciding where he could organize the rest of his forces until White Fang supplies show up. His bank accounts had been stressed from the attack on Beacon, nearly to the point of collapse. However, a little bonus for the death of many Hunters was provided by Touko, and therefore his money line was saved... for the time being. These teens needed to be killed soon.

The sound of flesh burning and a man screaming snapped him from his thoughts, spinning to face the sound.

The guard farthest back had a massive sea foam green spear stabbed through his chest, the material of the spear burning his flesh from his body. The man screamed out of utter pain and despair, his eyes rolling to the back of his head as he faded to the afterlife, dropping dead to the stone ground.

Orion emerged from where the man had stood, the glowing spear in hand.

"Ah... It's you..." Saturn said, sounding uncertain. After all, these specific guards were from muscle work, not exactly combat. "What do you want?"

"You know what I want Saturn; you to pay for your crimes to humanity, Faunanity, and to the orders of Fate." He said calmly, thrusting the spear into the ground, sparks of electricity shooting from the hole that it created.

"Well I'm not very interested anything like that... Are you selling anything else?" Saturn asked in a joking manner, reaching behind his back with his free hand.

"No jokes this time Saturn, no tricks either." Orion retorted, glaring at the man.

The guards began forming a semi circle around the man, all aiming pistols and machine guns at the God.

"Well, I can't promise that..." Saturn teased, his katana emerging in his hand, pointing the blade at Orion.

"Kill him."

The guards all opened fire at once, the sounds of the weapons unloading themselves echoed across the town, scaring the civilians away from the scene, a few police sirens echoing far in the distance.

As the guards' ammo was depleted from their respective weapons, a cloud of smoke stood where the God had just been, shielding the men from their target.

Saturn lowered his katana after a few moments, believing the man to be either gone or injured, already knowing that he couldn't be killed. But his men didn't need to know that.

Suddenly the spear rocketed from the smoke cloud, impaling itself into one of the guards, tearing though his body before rocketing back into the smoke.

As the man dropped dead to the pavement, the spear flew out again, killing another man before retreating back into the smoke cloud.

The remaining men went into a panic, racing around while reloading their weapons, each one by one getting impaled by the spear. Saturn stood at the end of the street pinching the bridge of his nose. Junior needed to train his men better if he was paying 1000 Lien a head.

Once the last guard was incapacitated, Orion pointed the blade towards Saturn, growling at the despicable human before him. He had half a mind to kill him quickly, but he wanted the man to pay for what he had done to so many people and Faunus.

"It's time to pay for what you've done Saturn Laos." Orion said, spinning the spear in his hands, the air around the duo growing heavy.

"You can't defeat me Orion, I am and always have been more powerful, more intelligent too." The crime lord stated, smiling at the God. "I can already see the outcome."

"Where I win."

"Enough talk, God. Time to meet your own Fate." Saturn said, taking a deep breath before getting into a combat stance, his golden katana above his head with the cane in the other, firmly pressed on the ground.

Orion ran forward with a harsh yell, his boots tearing the pavement up as he ran. He jabbed the spear forward, aiming for the man's lower torso to immobilize him from the waist down.

The crime lord spun to the right, dodging the spear as it passed by him, bringing the blade down on the neck of the God.

Orion spun just in time, deflecting the blades assault on him and sending Saturn stumbling back, shaking his head to get his blood flowing faster. He needed to be extra aware in order to win this particular fight.

Saturn blocked a few jabs by the spear with his katana as Orion pressed his attack, forcing the crime lord back a few inches every strike, gaining the advantage in the beginning. He knew he had this fight in the bag, he had fought a fellow God before, and he had won that, this would be a walk in the park.

Orion spun the sea foam green weapon in his hands and brought the spear down on the crime lords' head, growing bored of the confrontation already.

Saturn quickly raised both his cane and katana to hold off the spear. The trio of weapons collided in a shower of green and black sparks, both men struggling to stay in the game.

Saturn clicked a small gray button on the handle of his cane and a small thin blade emerged from the canes base, about 4 inches long. The man spun the cane in hand and slashed at the Gods chest, cutting a long line across the man's trench coat.

Orion stumbled back in shock, golden blood dripping from the wound. Saturn had just been walking with a limp, how could he be so strong all of a sudden.

Orion looked towards the man's legs as he took a few steps back. The crime lord had connected his Guardians to his legs, giving them an Aura boost for combat.

Orion's eyes widened just in time as Saturn jumped in the air, spun around, and slammed his right foot into the Gods chest, sending him flying into a nearby glass window to a Dust Shop.

Orion stumbled around as he clutched his aching head, groaning as he shook himself awake. The God dove out of the window and did a short roll on the ground, surprising Saturn and giving the God an advantage.

Orion grabbed the man's right leg, spinning on his back on the pavement and swinging the crime lord around. After a few full circle spins on the pavement, and after building up enough speed, Orion let go of the man's leg and sent him flying into a nearby car, his body tearing though the back windshield.

"Take that you loud mouthed bastard." Orion commented, grabbing his spear from the rubble of the Dust store. The God looked back towards the car after he gathered his weapon up, raising an eyebrow in confusion.

Saturn was missing.

Orion quickly looked to his right and to his left, eyes darting around to find this man. If he somehow ran away, it could take months or even years to find him again.

"Ahhhh!"

Saturn jumped up from behind the God, his duo of weapons at the ready. Saturn brought both down on the Gods back, jabbing both the cane blade and the katana into the Gods back.

The golden katana speared through the Gods back and poked out of his chest, letting out a screech in pain. Orion gripped the man's arms from behind his body, flipping him over his back and into the concrete ground.

As Saturn stood up slowly, his katana still inside of Orion as the cane fell to the ground behind the God, he let out a battle cry and charged forward, his right fist clenched tight.

Orion brought his left fist forward at the same time, the pair of fists connecting with each other's faces.

The pair were rocketed back in opposite directions, Orion holding his ground after sliding across the stone on his boots, rather than falling over like Saturn did from the impact.

Saturn stumbled up, coughing up a little blood as he clenched his stomach in pain. His vision was blurred from the assault, not able to make out much of his surroundings.

Across the street, Orion pointed his open palm at the man, slowly moving his hand upwards. Saturn suddenly levitated on command, and started colliding with building walls and nearby cars as Orion thrusted his palm back and forth and left and right.

Orion brought both of his hands to his side and clenched both palms together to form a bowl shape. As Saturn stumbled up, using a broken hood of a nearby car to stand up, the God pushed both palms forward, sending the dazed crime lord through the brick wall of a nearby wine shop, his body breaking through many of the storage shelves before coming to a halt.

As Orion paced towards the man, kicking brick and glass away as he walked, he wore a look of smugness mixed with anger. The God grabbed Saturn by the collar of his shirt and hoisted him up in the air, looking right in his eyes.

"Saturn, for breaking the laws of Fate, I condemn you to death and eterna-"

Before Orion could finish, a loud smash and the "thunk" of a bottle interrupted the man's words. The Gods eyes twitched for a moment before he fell backwards into a shelf, passed out.

In one of Saturn's Guardians, the neck half of a wine bottle was clenched tightly, the bottom half laid broken across the floor. The crime lord slowly rose up, brushing glass and stone dust from his shirt before lifting the Gods limp body from the floor with his Aura helpers.

"Tsk tsk tsk, such a shame. But I have uses for you Orion; we are going to do great things." The crime lord said, laughing wickedly at the end. He pressed a few buttons on his watch and a large black sphere opened up in the air in front of him. Saturn tossed the body into the portal and climbed in after, the portal disappearing seconds after.
