Laryngitis?
Chapter two: The Talk and The Coughs
I was sort of in a writer's block for this story. Thanks to for an idea or two. Hope it's okay! Not sure if Matsumoto is Ooc in this or not. In my defense, she can be very thoughtful and smart at times. Also, thank you rowan1025 for helping me out here. I appreciate all the support. I am not a doctor! Do not take any medical advice from me! I do not own Bleach. Here it is. Enjoy.

A small shuffling sound could be heard on the street. If people looked for the source, they would find the tiny taicho of the tenth division quietly shuffling along behind his lutenient. He didn't look very happy. He had his arms crossed over his chest, was frowning, and glaring at the ground. He was far from happy.
"Stop feeling miserable, taicho. Being carried isn't that embarassing." Matsumoto said as she continued to walk. Hitsugaya's mouth opened a little before Matsumoto placed a gentle finger on it.
"We need to talk about somethings. You shouldn't talk though, so just listen." She grabbed his small hand and dragged him over to the tenth division garden. She sat down on a bench and patted the seat next to her. Toshiro reluctantly sat down.
"Taicho... I know you don't like being treated like a child, but when you act like a child, you will be treated as one by a lot of people. You wouldn't go to bed. That was very childish, so I tried carrying you. Kicking isn't a good thing either. It hurt, and I think you left a bruise. It was childish to start kicking someone for no reason. It was childish to run away. Adults rest when they need it. Adults admit when they need to stop working and sleep. Adults listen to Unohana-taicho. Adults don't kick people. Adults don't run away from situations that scare them or put them in a tight spot." As Matsumoto lectured Toshiro, he started feeling a tiny bit guilty. She stopped her lecture when she sensed that her taicho was talking to Hyorinmaru.
'Maybe it wasn't the best idea to kick Matsumoto.' He thought to himself.
'It wasn't very smart to run away from her either.' Hyorinmaru replied.
'I know, but she was treating me as if I were a mere child. I needed to get away.' Toshiro replied.
'Were you listening at all, master? You were acting rather childish before that by not resting. She treated you like a child because you acted like one. Pardon me for saying so, but you were being a bit of a brat, master.' Hyorinmaru lectured. Toshiro gained a tick mark on his forehead.
'While I admit I was acting a bit juvenile, I was not acting like a brat.' Toshiro rebuttled.
'Whatever you say, master...' Hyorinmaru sighed as he disappeared into the icey mist of Toshiro's inner world.
Seeing as she had his attention again, Matsumoto continued, "What I'm trying to say taicho, is that if you listen to me just this once, it will be a lot easier on both of us. I won't have to deal with you very much, and you won't have to deal with me very much. Please just listen to me this time. I want you to recover quickly, but you're just making it difficult!"
'You know she does care about you.' Said Hyorinmaru again.
'I know, but she has no right to boss me around.' said Toshiro.
'Yes, but she knows how to help. She is more experienced when it comes to things like this.' Hyorinmau advised.
'Yeah, right.' Hitsugaya snorted.
"Taicho... Soul Society to taicho... Can you hear me taicho?" Toshiro snapped back to the present. He saw a hand being waved in front of his face. He put on a frown, slapped his lutenient's hand away, and stood up.
"Where are you going now?" Rangiku sighed. Toshiro just briskly walked away, Matsumoto quickly following him. They ended up outside the tenth division's captain's quarters. Before they entered, Toshiro turned around and pointed at the ground.
"Huh? What are you trying to say, taicho?" Matsumoto asked. Toshiro just pointed at the ground again.
"Something to do with the floor... hmmm... Is it broken?" She asked again. Toshiro pointed at the ground more furiously.
"Umm... It's uneven?" She guessed as she scratched her head. Hitsugaya pointed at his lutenient, then the floor.
"You want me to fix the floor? I don't think now is the right time for that taicho." Matsumoto said as she crossed her arms over her chest and put all her weight on one leg. Hitsugaya slapped his forehead and gave her a heated glare. He took a deep breath and slowly let it out. He turned around and entered his room, slamming his door shut behind him.
"You know you can't keep me out, captain!" Matsumoto hollered at him through the door with a smile on her face. All she heard in response was something scraping againat the floor. The busty fuku-taicho tried sliding her taicho's door open, but it wouldn't budge. She tried again, but there was still no movement.
Matsumoto huffed as she stomped into her room and gently shut the door behind her. She took a brief glance around the bedroom before she headed for another door on the left side of her room. Matsumoto walked over to the door quietly, as to not alert her captain. She could hear the sound of small feet shuffling around on the otherside. A few minutes later, she heard the russling of covers. Matsumoto waited a few more minutes to insure that her captain was asleep. Only when she heard soft snoring, did she dare enter.
The fuku-taicho of the tenth slowly opened the door joining her room to the captain's. Sure enough, the small captain was asleep in his bed. Rangiku tiptoed over to make sure Hitsugaya was alright. He seemed fine. The captain was sleeping peacefully on his side. Matsumoto gave a small smile at how cute he was.
'He's so peaceful when he sleeps. Soon he's going to be a teen though. More moodswings and horomones. More grumpiness. Sigh... At least he is cute now.' Matsumoto thought as she began to leave the room. She stopped however when she saw that a chair was in front of the main door. Matsumoto chuckled slightly and removed the chair, finally going to bed.
It was just about three hours later when Matsumoto woke up from sleep. She grumbled when she heard a muffled noise and turned onto her other side to look at her clock. It was one in the morning. The tenth's fuku-taicho was just about to go back to sleep when she heard the same noise again.
Matsumoto sat up slowly and looked around her bedroom. Nothing out of the ordinary. She heard the noise again and her eyes went wide, as she rushed to the source.
Hitsugaya was twisting and turning in his bed, coughing. Matsumoto ran over to her captain to see what the problem was.
He was sweating, his face twisted in pain as he restlessly turned about. His chest was heaving and he was panting. She couldn't tell if he was awake or not, but she thought he probably was awake. Matsumoto came to the conclusion that he couldn't breath.
She sat Hitsugaya up and took a seat next to him. Matsumoto rubbed his back, trying to sooth him. When that didn't work she became panicked. Matsumoto scooped her captain up and shunpoed to the fourth division.
"Matsu...moto... gaaaahhhh!" Hitsugaya yelled as he started to curl up and grab at his chest in pain.
"No no no no. You have to lay straight taicho. You need to get oxygen into your body." Matsumoto tried telling him. Hitsugaya tried, but found that he still couldn't breath.
'Is this how I'm going to die? Lack of oxygen? Not from lack of oxygen in Matsumoto's breasts, but being unable to inhale? How pathetic am I?' Toshiro thought to himself as he tried to curl up again.
'You aren't going to die master. As long as Matsumoto has you, she won't let you die.' Hyorinmaru reassured him. Toshiro gave no response as he blacked out from lack of oxygen.
"Taicho? Taicho!" Matsumoto yelled as she saw he had blacked out. Hitsugaya was now gasping for breath. Matsumoto sped up as she became determined to stop her captain's pain.
She burst into the fourth division and sped to Unohana's room. Rangiku found the captain of the fourth on her balcony.
"Is there something I can help you with?" Unohana asked as she continued sipping her tea and starin gout at the sky.
"Taicho... My taicho..." Matsumoto panted. Unohana quickly turned her head and rushed to the young captain's aid.
"Lay him on my bed and don't leave his side. I need to gather supplies. I should be back in no more than three minutes." Unohana instructed as she left. Matsumoto quickly laid her captain down and intently watched him, wishing she could take his pain away. Unohana came back moments later.
"Help him sit up right. I'll get the medicine into him." Unohana said as she knealt down next to the two. Matsumoto sat Toshiro up right as Unohana stuck something in his mouth and pushed down on the top. The doctor quickly pulled out the container and held the small pre-teen's mouth shut, making him hold his breath.
After ten seconds, she stuck whatever it was back into his mouth another time and repeated the process. When Unohana released Hitsugaya's mouth this time, he panted for a minute or two before taking a deep breath of air.
"Matsumoto-san, would you help me prop him up?" Unohana asked.
"Of course." Matsumoto replied as she assisted the doctor. Once Hitsugaya was comfortable and breathing well, Unohana took Matsumoto into the hallway.
"How did this happen?" Matsumoto asked.
"It's because he also has an upper resperatory infection along with laryngitis. This is why I gave you the humidifier and decongestant. Did you plug in the humidifier?" Unohana responded.
"No." Matsumoto replied.
"Did you give Hitsugaya-taicho the decongestant and painkiller?"
"No. This is all my fault. How could I not follow those directions?" Matsumoto said gloomily.
"It's alright Matsumoto-san." Unohana said as she patted the lutenient on the back. "This isn't your fault. I need to keep Hitsugaya over night for observation. How about you go back and prepare his room now that you remember." Unohana suggested.
"Alright. I'll make sure taicho recovers as quickly as possible!" Matsumoto declared as she shunpoed back to the tenth division.
Unohana smiled at her antics and went in seaech of an oxygen tank. She re-entered the room with Hitsugaya in it and approached the sleeping captain. Unohana set Hitsugaya up with an oxygen mask just incase, and brushed his bangs out of his face.
She gave a small smile to the slumbering boy and said, "You don't know how lucky you are to have a vice-captain like Matsumoto-san. Very lucky indeed. Good night, Hitsugaya-taicho." With that, Unohana went back to her balcony to stare at the stars.

Phew! There you have it. I don't think it's my best work, but...yeah. Surprise roadtrips give you a lot of time to write. Don't when I'll have wifi again. Sorry! A little under my usual goal... but I'll accept it.
