Chapter 7:

Sorry it's been a while~ but chapter 7 is finally up~! Sooo what will happen when Catori finds Eren~? *cues dramatic music*...well its not going to be super dramatic but things happen XD! Hope you like the new chapter! Reviewing and favoriting is appreciated!

Walking around the hallways of the basement-dungeon-thing…ya know what we're just gunna call it a dungeon…I had to make sure not to make much noise.

I could hear mumbled voices ahead and by the sound of it, it was Erwin, Levi, and from what I inferred Eren.

To be honest I'm surprised how clean the dungeon is. I didn't see any cobwebs or anything of that sort. And I gotta say the torches on the walls made the place even cooler.

I smiled to myself remembering how Hanji and I would goof around in the dungeon only to be scolded by Levi afterwards…only if he found out that is…

Focus Catori! Focus. Right how you have to worry about not being seen.

Just then I heard a scream boom down the hallway. It seemed like someone was screaming out something but it was too muffled to understand what was said.

Sounds like a male. Eren?

That defiantly wasn't Levi or Erwin screaming.

Thankfully I was already towards the end of the hallway I was walking down so after a few more strides I made it to the end. Crouching down, I leaned against the end of the hallway wall and glanced around the corner.

Yup there's hun bun.

Sure enough there was Levi, Erwin and Eren.

Huh looks like Hanji's not down here.

"Answer you piece of crap. It's not a hard question. What do you want to do?" I heard Levi say.

DID HE JUST CALL EREN A PIECE OF CRAP…Oh he's so going to hear it from me later….

Glancing over at Eren, I saw he was breathing heavily, but after a few more breaths he answered.

"I want to become a member of the survey corps and slaughter all the titans," Eren said with determination.

"Huh, well played…"

There was a short pause.

I can't believe they locked Eren up?!...I mean I understand keeping him in the basement…but putting cuffs on his hands…really?

Leaning off the wall Levi started to walk forward towards Eren, placing his hands on the bars.

"Alright then, I'll take responsibly for him. Let the higher ups know what's going on. Not that I completely trust him of course. It's more of me trusting myself to deal with him…kill him if I have to."

Oh my gosh is he trying to scare him more?!...

Glancing over at Eren I saw him stiffen with wide eyes. Clenching my fists I had to restrain myself from giving Levi a talking to….a big one…

"They aren't likely to refuse my request. My record speaks for itself, I'm sure. Good news Jeager…you're now officially a member of the survey corps." He finished saying in his usual unamused voice.

Looking back at Eren's face I saw he seemed to be in shock.

"R-really?" he said with wide eyes.

"Do I need to repeat myself?"

"No Corporal Levi," Eren said shaking his head.

I still can't believe Levi volunteered to take responsibility for Eren?...that poor boy…sooo like what I do now? I guess I know what's going on, but like what about me? I mean I'm going to be bombarded with questions eventually…should I start now ooor later….well I practically slept all day and I'm not tired so why not start now?

Standing up straight, I walked around the corner.

"So how's it go hun bun?" I said with a smile, "Oh and captain handsome."

They both seemed to be surprised that I was up, but I expected that.

"Hun Bun? Captain Handsome?" I heard Eren question.

"Catori, why aren't you in bed?" Erwin said raising an eyebrow, "I don't think it's a good idea for you to be walking around just yet. You were found in the compacted contents of a titan's stomach you should be-"

"Yeah I know, I know, but I feel fine aaand I just wanted to rub in hun bun's face that I'M ALIVE!" I said pointing at Levi.

"Too bad I wasn't awake…I so badly wanted to see the look on your face," I said leaning against the wall.

"What did I tell you about those shorts…" Levi deadpanned narrowing his eyes.

"And when do I listen to you?" I retorted, "And that's all you have to say to me after I was supposedly dead?"

Smiling I prepared myself to impersonate the short man (well I'm shorter than him but that's not the point….)

"No 'Oh hi Catori, I'm happy you aren't dead' or 'Oh my gosh I have to wipe my stoic tears with my bleached antibacterial cravat~. It's not because I'm overcome with emotion, it's because of all this gosh darn dust that you cadets-'"

"Tch, will you stop that…" Levi said clearly unamused.

Glancing over I saw Eren was in total shock, while Erwin was trying to contain his laughter.

Levi shook his head sighing, "Listen, you should be in bed and if you feel good enough to be walking around I think we all need to have a talk…a long talk."

"Why so serious? I mean geez aren't you relieved-no wait-happy that I'm alive~?" I said with a smirk.

"What did you say?" Levi said his eyes widening slightly.

"Oh nothing, just that I know deep down you were worried about me and that you're happy to have me back~. Guess I just grew on you. And don't worry your secret's safe with me…and Erwin…and Eren…and the two other guys over there," I said over to the two other military members who happened to be down here.

"Is there something I don't know about?" Erwin asked after seeing the shock in Levi's face.

"No," Levi stated with great annoyance, rolling his eyes.

Walking up I decided to be one of the friendly faces Eren would know, since he's joining the survey corps and is bound to have a lot of crap thrown at him. I want him to know he can come to me.

"Don't worry Eren, as long as I'm here you're gunna be all good. And don't let Mr. Levi scare you. He's just grumpy."

I could practically feel Levi burning a hole through the back of my head.

"You can laugh ya know. It's supposed to be funny, buut I get it Levi could be a pretty intimidating person to some, so you probably don't want to get on his bad side, but no need to worry when I'm around…especially if I'm the one making the joke."

Eren just gave me a nervous smile, not knowing how to respond.

"If you need anything, just let me know, or just let someone else know and they can get me. Ok?"

Again he nodded and this time he finally decided to speak up.

"Your name's Catori?"

"Yup," I replied with a smile.

"Don't forget that name either, it'll save you from a lot of trouble and get you out of a lot of it. Mainly from this one," I said jabbing my thumb in Levi's direction.

"Alright I've had enough of your crap. We have a lot to discuss. This is no time for goofing off like some idiot," Levi said glaring at me.

"I'm not goofing off. I'm just letting Eren know there's someone around here he can count on. And did you really have to put cuffs on the poor boy's hands? I mean really?"

"Catori," Erwin said finally speaking up.

"We do have some things to discuss. There's no point in avoiding it. Come, we'll talk in my office," Erwin continued getting to his feet.

My smile left my face and I looked down at my own feet.

Great now what do I do?!

"But Erwin, I'm fine. I don't-"

"Catori, come on. You can talk to Eren later." Erwin said in a more serious tone walking past my and Levi down the hallway.

Almost speechless I couldn't do anything but follow.

"I'll see you later Eren. I'll come back don't worry," I reassured him, putting on a small smile.

"Ok," he answered, giving me another nod.

"Come on, let's get going already, you can baby him later," Levi said following Erwin as well.

Letting out a sigh I sped up my pace.

"Yeah yeah, I'm coming," I said letting out a groan.

"And then we can get you out of those crappy shorts-"

"Oooooh~ so that's what this is about~," I teased, raising my eyebrow.

"I wasn't finished with my sentence," Levi said completely unamused. "Either way you cannot be wearing those around the base."

"Well either way I'm not taking them off, so don't get any ideas."

Levi just clicked his tongue at me and countered, "Don't flatter yourself."

"Hey you're the one who wanted to rip my shorts from my body."

Levi just rolled and then narrowed his eyes, knowing I was a lost cause.

Finally making it into Erwin's office, I plopped down in one of the seats in front of his desk.

"Sooooo what do you want to talk about," I said stifling a yawn getting a bit tired.

"I think you know what we need to talk about," Erwin stated sitting down in his chair behind his desk.

Glancing over at Levi I saw he already took the seat next to me with his legs crossed.

Well there's no going back now….guess I'm going to have to wing it.

I looked back up at Erwin with an innocent expression and tilted my head to the side.

"Weeeellll do you mind starting the talk?"

I heard Levi let out a sigh and when I looked over at him he was pinching the bridge of his nose.

"What?" I asked raising an eyebrow with a slight scowl on my face.

Before Levi could respond (or maybe not even respond at all anyways) Erwin butted in.

"How did you know you would survive Catori? It is impossible to survive being eaten by a titan."

"I didn't know that I would survive," I said calmly looking up at Erwin.

"Yes you did. You told Marco to tell Kiwi to come and find you. Why would you tell your sister to come and find you if you were going to be eaten? Wouldn't that just put her in more pain to search for a sister who is inevitably dead?"

"I just had this feeling. I had to survive. I couldn't die…I just couldn't. I couldn't leave Kiwi. I need to make sure she is safe. I couldn't afford to die."

"As noble and touching as that is, it doesn't matter. It would be impossible to be eaten by a titan and live. No one could survive that. No human could survive that."

Leaning forward I put narrowed my eyes, "What are you trying to say Erwin?"

"I'm saying nothing. Just stating what is true."

"Listen Erwin, I just figured if I was swallowed whole instead of being chomped into pieces, that I would survive somehow, that I would find some way. All I knew was I wasn't injured and I had a pair of swords. I would survive somehow. I had to."

"But you were."

"I was what?"

"You were injured."

"What no I wasn't-"

"Catori, you had suffered a broken leg and a few fractured ribs. A week of bed rest does not fix that."

"Maybe it wasn't as bad-"

"It was bad Catori. Hanji examined you and said it would take at least 6 weeks before you could go back out on the field again."

"Well she was wrong obviously."

Sighing Erwin leaned back in his chair massaging his temples.

I feel bad lying…but what else am I supposed to do?! The way they are treating Eren…Would they treat me the same despite me being different from him? And despite me being here for the last 3 years?...But it means nothing doesn't it…fear would make sure of that.

Leaning back in my chair, and looking down at my feet, I also worried about Kiwi.

Since she's my sister they would treat her the same way as well. They would put two and two together.

Sitting back up, I took in a deep breath. I had to wrap this up quick and I had to make it convincing.

"Erwin, listen. All I know is, I was saving one of our men and in the process almost died, but I didn't. I was swallowed whole and the next thing I remember is feeling someone grasp my hand. And hold it. Telling me that I was found and that everything was going to be ok," I said genuinely tearing up a bit, "It was scary. I'm not gunna lie. I didn't know if I was going to make it. But when I opened my eyes and saw Kiwi looking down at me, I knew that everything was alright…That I did my job. That I stayed alive…for her. That I was going to be able to be there for her. That I was able to do the most important thing I can ever do as a big sister…making sure that I keep her safe."

Clenching my fists I stared deep into Erwin's eyes with desperation. Despite having to lie about surviving, everything that I just said then was true. It was all true.

"I'm not a titan shifter Erwin," I said just above a whisper, "I promise."

"You promise?" Erwin said leaning forward.

"Yes…and as you know, I never break a promise."

And that part was also true.

Weeeeellll that's it for now~. Still figuring out what to do for the next chapter but it'll pretty much be about the COURT CASE!~ And as always any comments or suggestions are always welcome!
