Okay, I am on a roll! My rustiness is gone and I can type again! Please enjoy another chapter!
Chapter 3: Hero Rising
"Is this enough?" Terra grunted as she was levitating two giant boulders, sweat appearing on her face. She was wearing a black shirt with a yellow T in the middle, brown shorts, some goggles and brown gloves.
"One more minute," Danny said, looking at a watch.
It's been three weeks since Danny decided to train Terra to control her powers, and she's been improving a lot. She can levitate boulders and control where they land, she can control the earthquakes she makes, create walls, and can ride on a boulder. She wasn't an official Titan yet, but she didn't mind.
Right now, Danny was training her endurance on how long she can levitate boulders. After a minute, Terra dropped the boulders with a sigh and fell on her bottom.
"Good job, Terra," Danny said with a grin. "You're improving faster than I thought."
"Thanks…" Terra said, panting for air.
"Take a shower and rest," Danny said. "We'll start later."
Terra nodded and stood up, running back to the Tower. After a nice shower and fresh clothes, Terra walked towards the living room, since she still doesn't have a room yet. When she entered the living room, she found her friends doing their usual thing; Beastboy, Robin and Cyborg were playing videogames, Raven was reading a book, Starfire was cooking and Danny was eating her cooking.
For days, Terra got to know her new family. Robin would suddenly act goofy all over her, Beastboy and Cyborg would ask her to hang out with them, Starfire would ask her to taste her cooking, which she actually find tasty, Danny would help her control her powers, and Raven…she's hard to understand.
"You feeling okay there, Terra?" Danny asked, finishing his meal.
"I'm all right," Terra replied with a nod. Her stomach suddenly growled. "Are there more of that?"
"There are plenty more, friend Terra!" Starfire happily said, happy to have another one who eats her cooking.
"So Terra," Robin said as he joined them. "How's training going?"
Robin was really glad that Terra didn't have to keep her powers a secret and decided to tell the entire team.
"It's going great," Terra replied, eating the weird dish. "Danny's a really good teacher."
"I'm only teaching you the ropes," Danny said, the spoon in his mouth. "You're a natural, Terra. You managed to control your powers faster than I thought."
Terra grinned at the comment while Robin laughed. Raven shot Robin an annoyed look before returning to her book. Terra noticed the look and was confused. Danny, on the other hand, grinned.
"This will be interesting," Danny muttered as he drank a glass of water.
After a few minutes of relaxing, it was time for training. Everyone was in the training room, looking at Danny.
"Okay, you guys," he said, holding a remote control. "This will be a team exercise. You guys will split in teams of three. Your goal...is to get this."
Everyone looked as Danny held out his cape, much to their dismay. He smirked at their bewildered expressions.
"The team who manages to get my cape will be in charge of training for the next two weeks," Danny added, getting their interest. "The losing team…will have to get extra training with me."
He grinned as he got the expected results. His training was gruesome and back breaking. He pulled out a clipboard and cleared his throat.
"Okay, Team A will be Cyborg, Beastboy and Starfire. Team B will be Robin, Raven and Terra."
Cyborg, Beastboy and Starfire cheered and high-fived while Robin felt awkward at the tension around as the two girls stared at each other. Minutes later, Danny stood between the two teams, stretching his arms and legs.
"Okay guys, just to be fair, I won't use my powers," he said with a grin.
"You better not make this too easy, Spooks," Cyborg said as he readied his cannon.
The bell rang and Danny found himself surrounded by the two teams. Before they could grab him, Danny leaped up into the air and landed behind them. He suddenly pressed the remote and the room suddenly shifted. Suddenly, the ground started raising unequally and more Dannys appeared, grinning at them.
"Let's see which team will win first," they said at the same time.
"Okay team, here's the plan…" Cyborg said as he made Team A huddle.
"Okay guys," Robin said, turning to look at his team. "Here's what we'll do..."
Later…
"I still blame you for this," Terra said, holding a broom.
"You got in my way," Raven said simply, fixing the walls.
"Can we focus on fixing the room?" Robin said as he carried a trash can full of rubble.
A few minutes ago, Team A won while Team B…accidentally destroyed the room. It was going on too fast; first, Stafire flew up into the air and fired a giant Starbolt, showering the room with a bright light. Then Cyborg fired a rocket at the real Danny, who quickly dodged to avoid the sudden attack. While they were fighting, Robin was about to position himself to begin their plan. Raven was about to use her powers when Terra accidentally mixed her powers with Raven's, causing the room to suddenly explode. During the confusion, Beastboy, who turned into a bug and was on the rocket Cyborg fired, turned back to normal, clutching Danny's cape. Meanwhile, Robin got caught in the chaos his teammates made, getting buried waist deep in the floor.
While Team A were enjoying their victory and started making plans for their training regime, Terra and Raven were having a not so friendly debate, ignoring Robin, who was asking for help. After Danny helped Robin out, he told Team B to work on their teamwork, starting by fixing the destroyed training room.
Robin sighed as he looked at the two girls, who were not facing each other. He doesn't know what's wrong with them. Raven seemed to be colder than usual and Terra seemed somewhat nervous whenever she's around.
"Women…" Robin muttered under his breath, shaking his head. "So complicated."
"You say something?" the girls exclaimed, glaring at him.
"Nothing," Robin said as he hurriedly took steps away from them. "Just talking to myself."
Later…
Robin landed face first on the sofa, groaning as his arms throbbed painfully. Raven was calmly meditating in front of the window while Terra was drinking a soda. They finally fixed the training room and were dead tired by all the hard work.
Now all they wanted to do was lie down and rest-
"Training time!" Danny exclaimed as he walked in the living room. He smirked as he heard his friends groan.
"You're evil," Robin said as he forced himself out from the sofa.
"Hey, that's what you get when you lose," Danny commented with a shrug. "Now up to it. Chop, chop!"
Before the three could complain, the alarms started ringing. Danny suddenly turned serious as he ran towards the computer. As he started typing, the rest of the Titans ran in the living room.
"What's the problem?" Cyborg asked as the giant screen showed the bank being overrun by…
"Sladebots," Danny growled, his expression darkening. "So he's back."
"Who's back?" Terra asked, confused at the Titans' reactions.
"Slade," Robin replied in a dark tone.
"Who's that?"
"Let's say we have bad history," Danny replied as he cracked his knuckles. "Time for me to repay that little favor."
"Let's go!" Robin exclaimed as he started running towards the door, only to be stopped by a hand.
"Hold it," Danny said as he forced Robin to turn around. "You're staying here."
"What?!" Robin exclaimed. "Why?!"
"This is Slade we're talking about," Danny said. "Who knows what he'll do."
"So you're gonna leave me here all alone!?" Robin demanded with a glare.
"Who said you're gonna be alone?" Danny asked with a grin. "Terra and Raven are gonna watch your back."
Robin gave him a look that said 'you gotta be kidding me.' Terra and Raven looked at each other before huffing.
"No complaints? Great!" Danny said quickly. "Titans, move out!"
Not waiting for a comment from the three Titans, Danny, Starfire, Cyborg and Beastboy dashed out the door. The three stood in awkward silence, feeling very uncomfortable.
Bank…
The Sladebots were grabbing all the gold and money they could get from the vault, putting them on giant sacks. Just as one of the Sladebots was about to close the sack, an Ecto-rang suddenly hit it on the head, destroying it.
The robots looked at the entrance and saw Danny Phantom, Starfire, Cyborg and Beastboy glaring at the robots, ready to fight.
"Don't tell me," Danny said as he grabbed a couple of Ecto-rangs. "Slade got his ATM card eaten."
The robots pulled put their blasters and aimed it at the Titans.
"Titans, go!" Danny exclaimed as he flew up in the air and threw the Ecto-rangs at the robots, stabbing them on the head. The projectiles suddenly beeped before it exploded, turning the robots into scrap metals.
Cyborg jumped towards to robots, landing in the middle of the group and crushing a few. He then grabbed the nearest robot and used him as a weapon, bashing it to other robots. He then threw the robot to another group, breaking them.
"Strike!" he exclaimed before he charged his sonic cannon.
Beastboy turned into a small bird to dodge the blasters. He flew up high in the air and turned into a giant elephant. He landed on a large group of robots, turning them to bits and causing a small earthquake.
Starfire kept firing at the robots, blasting them to bits. She suddenly got do piled before she blasted them to the roof, scrap metal raining from the sky.
Soon, all was left were piles of scrap metal. Danny looked around the room, feeling a bit uneasy.
"This doesn't seem right…" Danny muttered, kicking a piece of metal.
"What'd you mean, dude?" Beastboy asked, looking at the halfa.
Suddenly, the vault doors closed, startling the Titans. Before they could react, a screen pop out from the ground. The screen blinked to life and a masked face appeared, a face Danny hated with all his being.
"Slade," Danny growled, his voice filled with acid.
This was the man who made him hurt his friends. This was the man who endangered the entire city to gain his selfish desires. The man who forced him to be his apprentice.
"It's been a while, Danny," Slade said like he was talking to an old friend. "I was thinking you'd be in a mental home. Guess I was wrong."
"What do you want, psychopath?" Danny demanded, clenching his fist.
"I'm just here to tell you that your precious tower will be down under," Slade said, causing the Titans to widen their eyes. "In about thirty minutes, Titan's Tower will be gone."
"We don't have time to mess around!" Danny exclaimed, turning his back on the screen. "We have to go!"
Suddenly, the ground started shaking and something burst from the ground. Everyone slowly backed away as Cinderblock and Plasmas appeared in front of them.
"Let's see what will fall first; the Tower or you," Slade said as the two monsters attacked.
Titan's Tower…
Robin sighed as he sat down the sofa, looking at the darkening sky. Raven was on the counter, holding a mug of herbal tea while Terra was standing out the window, looking at the city.
"I'm worried…" Terra suddenly said, surprising them. "They've been gone for a while now."
"Don't worry about them, Terra," Robin said. "They'll be fine. Besides, I'm more worried about us not having to do anything. But at least we get to relax."
Suddenly, just as the words left his mouth, the entire Tower suddenly started shaking.
"Me and my big mouth!" Robin said as he stumbled out the sofa.
"An earthquake?" Raven said, trying to remain calm.
"No," Terra said, looking shocked. "This isn't an earthquake. Something's under the Tower!"
"W-what?!" Robin exclaimed.
"How do you know?" Raven said, looking at Terra.
"I can't tell, but I can feel it," Terra said with a confused expression. "And it's big."
"We better check it out!" Robin exclaimed as he stood up and ran out the door. "Let's go!"
The two girls followed him through the door, trying not to fall from all the shaking. Once they got exited the tower, Terra used her powers to dig underground, making a path.
The three then landed in a small mine path. The three all looked at the mine in confusion, seeing that they were manmade and recently. They followed the path, running for what seemed like hours. They finally reached the end of the path; a giant cave being supported by beams. In the center of the cave was a giant drill that was drilling downwards.
"That thing is drilling towards the ocean!" Robin exclaimed. "If it keeps that up, it'll sink the entire island!"
"Then let's break it!" Terra exclaimed as her hands glowed. A giant boulder started floating above her before she threw it towards the machine.
Before the boulder could reach the machine, something fell down from the ceiling and stopped the boulder from reaching the drill, sending it to the ground, creating a cloud of dust.
"What was that?" Raven asked as the smoke cleared.
Their eyes widened when they saw a man standing on the boulder, a man wearing black and gray armor and a black and orange mask.
"I see there are still some pests here," Slade said as he jumped down from the boulder. "Guess I'll have to take care of it."
The three heroes tensed as Slade walked towards them, his hands behind his back. Terra growled and raised her hands, levitating some rocks and shooting it towards Slade. Slade just stared at the projectiles before he started punching and kicking them, turning them to dust.
"Impressive," Slade said as he looked at Terra, who was shock. "You're good…for a newbie."
"Azarath. Metrion. Zinthos!" Raven shouted as a bunch of screws from the beams were surrounded with magic and threw them towards Slade.
Slade pulled out a Bo staff and twirled it around, blocking the incoming metals. Robin pulled out his Bo Staff and charged at Slade. He kept swing, jabbing and kicking, but Slade either blocked or dodged his attacks. He then quickly whacked the staff of Robin's hand before kicking the Boy Wonder away.
"My, you kids have gotten a bit better since our last encounter," Slade said as Robin landed on his feet, wincing a bit. "But only a bit."
Terra growled at the man. She spotted a boulder and tried to use her powers on it, but Raven was thinking the same thing. Just like what happened in the training room, the two powers mixed and the boulder exploded.
"Don't get in my way!" Raven exclaimed, looking at Terra.
"You were in my way!" Terra shouted.
"Guys, focus!" Robin exclaimed, but it was too late; Slade charged, grabbed Terra and threw her towards Raven. The two stumbled to the ground as Robin threw a birdarang towards the masked villain, who slightly moved to avoid it.
Robin jumped towards Slade and tried to kick him, but he grabbed his leg and swung him towards the girls, who were trying to stand up. The three stumbled to the ground, groaning.
"Don't tell me you're tired already," Slade said as he watched the three heroes stand up. "I'm barely warming up."
The three glared at him before the entire cave started shaking again. They were running out of time.
"We have to stop that machine!" Robin said to the two girls.
"Maybe I can use my powers to-"
"Don't you think you caused enough troubles with you powers?" Raven asked, interrupting Terra.
"Well maybe if you weren't in my way," Terra said, glaring at the empath.
"Will you guys stop it!?" Robin shouted, looking at the two girls. "We have bigger problems to worry about! Stop fighting each other and start working together!"
The two girls looked at Robin before they looked at each other. They felt guilty for acting like immature cheerleaders. The two nodded at each other before they smiled at Robin, who grinned at them.
"Okay, just like we planned," he said. The two girls nodded before they faced Slade, feeling more confident.
"I don't know what you're planning, but it won't work," Slade said calmly.
"Go!" Robin exclaimed as he threw a disk grenade at Slade, who jumped to dodge it. Before Slade could react, he suddenly stopped in midair, much to his surprise. He looked down and saw Raven using her powers on his legs.
"Yoohoo!" a voice said. Slade turned and his eyes widened when saw Terra flying on a boulder towards him. The blonde jumped of the boulder as it slammed Slade towards the wall.
"That's gotta hurt," Robin said with a wince. Suddenly, the cave shook again and water spouted out from the hole. "Oh no, we're too late!"
The three ran towards the drill, their feet submerged in water. They could feel the island sinking downwards as water started filling the room.
"We have to stop the island from sinking!" Robin exclaimed as the water reached their waist.
"How?" Raven asked as she flew up to avoid the water.
"Maybe I can do something," Terra said as she clasped her hands together. Her hands started glowing brightly as the entire cave suddenly stopped shaking. Robin looked down and saw the water levels lower.
"Terra, you're doing it!" Robin exclaimed, looking at Terra. His eyes widened when he saw Terra straining herself as she lifted the entire island. "Terra!"
"I…I'm okay," Terra grunted, sweat rolling from her face. "I can do this…!"
"Not alone," Raven said as she landed next to Terra and grabbed her hands.
The two smiled at each other before they focus their power on lifting the island. Robin watched in awe as the two combined their powers. Soon, the water was gone and Terra levitated a giant boulder and bashed it to the drill, covering the hole.
Once it was over, the two girls fell to their bottom, gasping and panting for air. They looked at each other before they smiled.
"Now to get Slade," Robin said as he ran towards where Slade is. When he got there, he stopped dead. Instead of a beaten up, masked person, there was a broken robot, sparking and buzzing. "You have got to be kidding me!"
"It was a robot?" Raven asked as she and Terra walked towards Robin.
"Wow, no wonder you hate him," Terra said as she looked at the robot.
Meanwhile, Danny, Starfire, Beastboy and Cyborg, who looked tired and bruised, just arrived at the island and watched with amazement as they watched the island, which was sinking a moment ago, was back to normal.
"They did it," Danny said with a smile as his friends cheered.
One Week Later…
"Take a break, Terra," Danny said as he watched Terra used her powers to create sculptures.
"Thanks," Terra said with a sigh as she sat on the ground.
It's been a week since that sudden attack from Slade, and Terra was training harder than usual. Ever since that fight with Slade, not only did she stopped the island from sinking, but she finally got along with Raven.
"By the way, Terra," Danny said, causing the geokinesis to look at him. "I have something to show you?"
"What is it?" Terra asked, curious.
"Follow me," Danny said. "And close your eyes."
Terra, with a confused look, did what she was told. She let Danny lead her in the Tower.
"Okay, we're almost there," Danny said to her. "Just a few more steps."
"What's the surprise?" Terra whined, getting curious.
"Here!" Danny said as he removed his hands from Terra's eyes.
"Surprise!" the Titans shouted, surprising Terra.
They were inside a newly painted room; there was a bed, the walls were painted like the desert, the ceiling were painted like a starry sky and the window had a great view of the sunset. She was awe and touched at what her friends did to her.
"I…I don't what to say…" she said quietly.
"Think of it as being an official Titan," Danny said with a grin.
"R-r-really?" Terra said, surprised.
"Congratulations, friend Terra!" Starfire exclaimed as she hugged her tightly.
"T-t-t-thanks…" Terra said, trying to get air.
Starfire let her go as the others offered their congratulations to the newest Titan.
"But before we can accept you," Raven said with a smirk.
"There's a little initiation," Beastboy said with a mischievous grin.
Terra's eyes widened with horror as the Titans pulled out a rubber chicken, a pie, a pink wig, a unicycle, a pink tutu and camera. She tried to run, but they quickly got her and ignored her pleas of mercy.
While Terra was doing the initiation, Danny was still thinking about Slade.
So he's back, Danny thought while his friends laughed. But it won't be like last time. I will stop him.
