David Guetta - Dangerous

Chapter 57

Over and over

Elijah observed the shocked faces of the Salvatore brothers carelessly when he and Elena marched in. His little chat with the doppelganger had made her to understand that he was done playing games, he was in charge now. She hadn't really had any objections; she was desperate to keep her loved ones safe now when Niklaus was in town and she understood that she would probably have to die in order to do that. They might actually have a chance now when Niklaus thought that the Bennett witch was dead, but that was only if certain foolish young vampires wouldn't try to mess everything up.

"You invited him in?" Damon asked disbelievingly.

"Yes," Elena replied quietly. "He agreed to help us."

"Right, sure," Damon snorted.

Elijah's eyes narrowed, he had agreed not to kill these young vampires, but he hadn't said anything about not hurting them.

"First I want an apology," he stated icily.

"I'm sorry," Stefan said immediately.

"For what?" Elijah asked.

Stefan seemed a bit confused.

"For daggering you."

"That was a foolish thing to do, yes, but not nearly as foolish as taking my Eva."

Damon rolled his eyes, but Stefan nodded, he looked very serious.

"I understand and I sincerely apologize. If it makes any difference, we would have never hurt her."

"Oh please…" Damon snorted, but Elijah was done tolerating his arrogant attitude. No more than a second later he was in front of the older Salvatore and slammed his fist through his chest. Damon's eyes widened with shock when Elijah squished his heart.

"Stop!" Elena shouted desperately, but Elijah paid no attention to her or Stefan who tried to plead for his brother's life.

"You broke my daughter's neck," Elijah snarled. "Do you know what I do to people who hurt my child?" Elijah paused and tightened his grip, making Damon to gasp in shock. "I hurt them more."

"I'm…sorry," Damon managed to gasp.

Elijah looked into his eyes for few seconds, making sure that he got his message before removing his hand. Damon would have collapsed on the floor if Elijah wouldn't have grabbed him by the collar of his shirt.

"One more thing," he stated and effortlessly snapped Damon's neck.

Calmly he picked up a handkerchief out of his pocket and wiped his bloody hand while turning to look at Stefan and Elena who seemed shocked.

"Now we are even. Let's talk about Klaus."

I felt strange when I opened my eyes, I couldn't understand what had happened. Why was I so sleepy, I could barely lift my hand? Where was I? After a brief struggle I managed to roll on my side, I was in bed. In a king size bed between satin sheets. What… My senses sharpened immediately, I couldn't recognize the room. Slowly I managed to get into a sitting position and noticed that I was wearing my pink lace nightie.

It was custom-made especially for me, just like most of my clothes; I didn't want to wear children's clothes unless it was absolutely necessary. Wearing womanly nighties when I was alone in my room was one of my secret joys; for a short moment they helped me to think that I was a real woman, although I was aware that no normal man could ever find me attractive. Why was I wearing it now?

I tilted my head when I heard something from the next room. The TV was on. Cautiously I got up; my legs were shaking a little. This wasn't good, why couldn't I remember what had happened… Papa. I had gone to help papa. I tried to move towards the door with my vampire speed, but that certainly didn't work out, I almost fell down. What was wrong with my body? Finally I managed to hobble to the door and yanked it open.

"Papa!" I called and lost my balance, but someone caught me before I fell down.

"Woah, woah, easy," Kol's voice said. He lifted me up and carried me to the sofa. It seemed that we were in a hotel suite.

"Kol?" I muttered.

"Yes, I'm right here, darling," he replied and carefully placed me on the sofa. "How are you feeling?"

I looked up when he sat down next to me.

"What…what happened?"

He seemed uncomfortable, but his lips curved into a smirk.

"We can talk about that later, it seems to me that you could use a bite first…"

"No, I want to know what happened. Is papa alright?"

"Yes, he's fine."

I was relieved, but I couldn't understand.

"Where is he?"

"He's… not here," Kol replied.

I frowned; I didn't like this at all.

"I can see that. Where are we?"

"In Georgia."

"What? Why?"

He shrugged.

"This seemed as good place as any. And I thought that you would be more comfortable sleeping in a bed than in the car."

I crossed my arms and glared at him.

"Kol Mikaelson, you will tell me right now what the hell is going on."

He grinned.

"Well, Eva Mikaelson, how about I start by telling you that I have missed that bossy tone of yours."

"Of course you have," I snapped. "You liked it so much that you left me. Again."

He was quiet for a moment before replying.

"Elijah saw me kissing you."

My eyes widened.

"What? Papa has never said anything about that."

"Hmm," Kol muttered and rubbed his nose. "His right fist certainly spoke to me loud and clear."

I stared at him disbelievingly.

"And you just left without even saying goodbye?"

He pressed his lips together and looked away.

"Eva… I love you; you know that I do, but the things that Elijah said… He wasn't completely wrong. Being close to you makes me complete, you are a part of me, but..."

Yes, there was always but. I couldn't blame him for that; we both knew that there would be no happy ending for the two of us. I was trapped in this body and he deserved to be with someone who could give him what he needed. For some reason we just kept torturing ourselves.

I loved Kol with all my heart and I loved Klaus too, despite of everything that had happened. Yet my love for them was somehow different, with Kol it was primal and unpredictable like a flame and with Klaus like the love of an old married couple who have had a lot of differences, but who had eventually accepted each other the way the were with all their faults.

Somehow the three of us had been connected from the moment they had taken my life and I knew that connection would always be there. It wasn't easily explained, like my relationship with papa and Rebekah, they were my mother and father, what I had with Klaus and Kol was…complicated to say the least. Kol and I were quiet for a long while until I remembered what I was wearing and felt embarrassed.

"Could you hand me that blanket, please," I muttered.

"What, yes, sure."

"Thanks."

I tried to look dignified when I wrapped the blanket around me.

"I don't usually… Where did you get this nightie anyway?"

"From your suitcase," he replied. "And don't worry, I didn't dress you, a nice elderly cleaning lady did."

"Oh."

I felt even more embarrassed, apparently I had been so busy packing that I had taken this nightie instead of one of my "normal" ones.

"It looks nice," he stated discreetly.

"Sure," I huffed. "Feel free to laugh if you want, sometimes I just… I want to pretend that I'm a real woman. And yes, I'm aware how pathetic that is…"

"No, it's not," he muttered. "You are beautiful, Eva."

"No, I'm not, but thank you for saying that."

He lifted me onto his lap and made me to look at him.

"You are beautiful and you are a real woman, anyone who looks into your eyes can see that."

I didn't believe him, but his words still warmed my heart.

"Thank you," I said and kissed his cheek. "I could have that bite now, but after that I want to know everything."

"My blood or human blood?" he asked.

"Yours, please. I've missed it."

He grinned and handed me his wrist. I took it without hesitation and smiled at him while my fangs came out, I was starving.

"My little beast," he hummed when I punctured his skin. His blood tasted as delicious as ever, I truly had missed it. I rarely fed straight from the source these days, but sometimes I still went out hunting. It wasn't so much fun by myself though. Like a gentleman, he handed me a handkerchief after I was finished.

"Thank you," I said smiling and snuggled against him. At the moment I didn't care that he had left, I was just happy that he was here now.

"Where have you been?" I muttered.

"I traveled," he replied and leaned his cheek on the top of my head. "You got the gifts I sent you, right?"

"Yes, thank you. Now talk to me, what is going on with papa?"

"He wants you to be safe," Kol replied, his hand was stroking my hair. "That is why we are staying here for now."

"What is he doing in Mystic Falls? I know it has something to do with Klaus."

Kol didn't say anything; I pulled away and looked at him.

"Tell me."

Kol closed his eyes and sighed.

"Elijah is going to kill Nik."

"What?" I gasped. "What…what are you talking about?"

He tried to look away, but I cupped his face.

"Kol?"

"Rebekah is gone," he said quietly. "I'm sorry I have to be the one to tell you this."

His words made no sense to me, none of this made sense.

"Gone? What do you mean gone?"

"You remember that night in Chicago when Mikael showed up?"

"Of course," I muttered. I had stayed home that night and nothing had been the same again. Kol hadn't been there, but papa had picked me up the next day and told me that we needed to leave, Klaus had gone too far. "What about it?"

"Nik… He killed Rebekah that night. Not just daggered her, he sank her body at the bottom of sea."

"No…" I muttered, I refused to believe this. "She…she left with Stefan…"

"She tried to, but… Elijah was too late to safe her."

I couldn't move or made a sound, this couldn't be real. No, Klaus wouldn't have… Papa would have told me. No…

"Take me back," I muttered, my voice sounded strange. "I need to see papa."

"No," Kol replied quietly. "We are staying here, I gave Elijah my word."

"Take me back," I repeated and tried to get off his lap, but he didn't let me go.

"No."

"Let me go."

"No."

I was really struggling now, but he was stronger, his arms were like chains around me.

"Let me go! Let me go!"

I struggled as hard I could, I bit, scratched and screamed, but he didn't let go. Slowly my screams turned into hysterical sobs, my mind refused to handle this. I would never see Rebekah again and soon Klaus would be gone too. This was just too much.
