Chapter 10: Near Death Experience
Phantom was typing on the Speeder's computer, trying to hack the robot's head. It's been hours since he started, but the robot had some strong defenses. Even Cyborg had trouble bypassing the security. He contacted the others and they couldn't hack their robots too.
His group just watched him work. They tried to give him some food and drink, but he refused, saying that he needed to crack this.
"Darn it!" Phantom exclaimed as he slammed his fists on the table, causing it to shake a bit. "Why won't this stupid thing crack!?"
"Danny," Starfire said gently, putting a hand on his shoulder. "You must remain calm. All this negative emotion is not good for you."
Phantom sighed tiredly. He knew she was right, but with all the worry and stress he felt, it was hard to calm down.
"Hey," Terra said, getting their attention. "Is your glove supposed to be glowing?"
Surprised, Phantom looked at his glove and saw the gem giving a slight glow. Confused, he moved the glove closer to his face and the glow dimmed. Narrowing his eyes, he moved his hand closer to the robot and the gem glowed brightly.
"What's going on?" Cyborg asked with a confused expression.
Phantom didn't reply, he just grabbed the head and started opening it. He tossed the wires and screws to the sides, ignored the computer chip and threw Red Bird's face away, slightly scaring the others.
He finally found what he was looking for, a green gem similar to the one he was wearing, the Phantom's Eye.
"What's that doing there?" Terra asked with a confused expression.
"It's a power source," Phantom said as his expression darkened. "And there's only one person who could use this. Plasmius."
Cyborg, Terra and Starfire all gasped at that. Phantom grabbed his communicator and contacted the others.
"Guys, go to Wisconsin," Phantom said. "I think I know who kidnapped Red Bird. Batgirl, contact Batman and tell him where we'll meet."
"Do you know who did it?" Batgirl asked.
"Here's a guess," Phantom said as he sat down in front of the controls. "This world is going to have one less Halfa if anything happens to Jason."
With that, he ended the call and told the others to buckle up. He then drove the Speeder towards Wisconsin.
Meanwhile…
Red Bird was tied up to a chair by chains, gasping for air. It's been a day and a half since he was blindsided. He was hungry and cold, but he kept his head high.
The people who kidnapped him just left him in dark, but he didn't mind. He just focus on the things Batman thought him, and it worked. It kept him focus.
He looked up as he heard footsteps coming towards him. It was Plasmius giving him a fanged grin.
"How is our little guest?" he asked in a sickening tone.
Red Bird glared at him. Vlad noticed this and just chuckled.
"Now, now, don't be like that," Vlad said as he patted Red Bird's head. "I just want to talk and all."
"I'm not telling you anything," he growled.
"Oh, I'm sure you won't," Vlad said. "But I don't need you to talk."
Suddenly, he grabbed Red Bird head none too gently. The boy winced in pain before he saw Plasmius' glowing eyes and a wicked grin on his face.
"I just need to what you know," he said as his hand turned intangible.
The boy started screaming as he felt his mind being invaded. Vlad grinned as he broke through the boy's defenses and got the knowledge he was looking for.
He already knew about Batman being Bruce Wayne because of his connection with Danny Phantom. What he wanted was the Bat Cave's location, since it held very valuable information.
"There you are," he said as he made Red Bird scream louder.
Wisconsin…
In the mansion of Vlad Masters, the front door was blasted open. Phantom walked through the smoke, followed by Cyborg, Starfire and Terra.
"You could have knocked," Cyborg said as he looked at the football stuffs in the house. "He's a Packers fanatic? You think you know a guy."
They all turned when a black raven appeared from the ground. It dissipated and revealed Raven, Robin and Beastboy.
"This is Plasmius' home?" Beastboy commented as he looked at the football stuff. "I thought it'd be more…vampiric."
"That's not even a word," Raven said.
Robin just looked around the house with a sense of painful nostalgia. The first time he walked through these halls was the day he was adopted by Vlad Masters. Through his grief, Vlad trained him into a thief, saying that what he was doing was for the greater good.
It took a long time for him to see what Vlad was really is, a power hungry man. It was thanks to Clockwork that he could change the path he took.
"There's a lab underneath his mansion," Phantom said as he kneeled and placed his hands on the ground. He then turned the floor intangible. "Jump in."
The Teen Titans all looked at each other before they jumped through the floor. Phantom followed them, letting the floor return to normal.
They landed in a lab filled with machines and tools. It even had a Ghost Portal. Starfire, Raven and Phantom remained floating, Terra, Robin and Cyborg landed on their feet while Beastboy turned to a hummingbird before turning human.
"Look for any clues," Phantom ordered. Suddenly, a blue wisp escaped from his mouth. He then noticed that all the gadgets started coming to life.
Everyone watched as the gadgets started combining and turned into a giant robot with a computer for a head. Suddenly, a green face wearing shades appeared in the screen, releasing a nasal laugh.
"Behold, for I, Technus, master of all things electronic, will use these superior technology to destroy you all-!" suddenly, Phantom appeared in front of him and blasted the robot in half. Phantom then grabbed the screen before he used his intangible hands to grab Technus.
He then flung the Ghost to the ground before landing on his stomach, causing him to gasp out in pain. The Titans watched with shock on brutal their leader was.
"Tell me where Plasmius is, now," Phantom demanded as he planted his knee on Technus' chest.
"You can't make me talk!" Technus exclaimed. "For I am Technus! Master of all things-!"
He stopped talking when a glowing fist narrowly missed his face.
"I am having a very bad day, Technus," Phantom said in a serious tone. "So don't make me show you oblivion. Now tell me again, where is Plasmius?"
Technus gulp nervously. He could see that Phantom was deadly serious. He looked at the glowing fist before at the emotionless face above him.
"Times ticking, Technus," Phantom said as the glow became brighter.
"Okay! Okay!" Technus exclaimed in a panic. "I don't know where he is, but!" Technus added as Phantom was about to punch him. "But he gave me this." He pulled something from his pocket; it was a piece of paper.
Phantom looked at the paper before the glow died and he grabbed the paper. He stood up and made a Ghost Portal before he grabbed Technus and threw him back to the Ghost Zone. He turned back and saw the Titans' wide eyed expression. He ignored their looks and unfolded the paper. What he saw were coordinates.
"You're late," he suddenly said as he looked behind the Titans. They turned and were shock to see the Batman, Batgirl and Dani behind them without knowing.
"You had it covered," Batman said as he walked towards Phantom, who handed him the coordinates. "Coordinates?"
"He's playing us," Phantom said as he clenched his teeth.
"But he won't win," Batman said calmly.
"So where do these coordinates go?" Batgirl asked as she took the coordinates from Batman. "You guys have a GPS?"
"Oh, you will need no such thing," a voice said as the computer screen showed Slade standing in an empty factory. "After all, we are just here."
"Slade," Phantom growled as his eyes glowed angrily. "Should have known you'd be part of this. After all, you enjoy hurting children. Where's Plasmius? Too much of a coward to face us himself?"
"He's busy, talking to our young guest," Slade said. Suddenly, there was another scream. They all widened their eyes when they recognized Red Bird's voice. "It appears they are still talking."
"You better hope we don't find you Slade," Phantom growled venomously. "Because if we do, I will break you."
"You're a smart boy, Phantom," Slade said. "The closer you get, the colder it'll be. But there? It's about to get a little warm." As he said that, he hold a remote and pressed a button. Without warning, the entire lab started flashing red.
"Self-destruct in T minus 10," a computerized voice said.
"Rave, shield!" Phantom exclaimed as his hands glowed brightly. Raven nodded and raised her hands, which were covered with black magic.
Green and black energies combined and turned into a dome that covered them. As soon as the dome was done, the entire lab exploded. Once the smoke cleared, the dome dissipated and they all saw the lab now destroyed and on fire.
Phantom looked at the computer and saw that it was destroyed. He growled angrily as he fired at the computer.
"Let's go back the Speeder," Phantom said as he walked towards the exit. "We could use the GPS and just let it take us there."
"You've done enough," Batman said, causing Phantom to stop and turn around. "I'll handle the rest."
"Excuse me?" Batgirl said. "You are not doing this alone."
"And Plasmius and Slade are the Teen Titans' problem," Phantom said.
"It's dangerous," Batman said.
"It's always dangerous," Dani retorted.
"I said I'm doing this alone," Batman said as he glared at them.
"And I say you won't do it alone," Phantom said as he glared back. "Besides, I don't listen to you anymore, and neither does my team."
Batman and Phantom did a glare off that made the others take a step back nervously.
"Do whatever you need," Batman said as he exited the lab.
"We plan to," Phantom said as he walked to the exit, followed by the others.
"That was scary," Beastboy said as they exited the destroyed lab.
One Day Later…
"Wake up, everyone," Phantom said to his friends. "We're here…wherever we are."
His friends started waking up, their back hurting for sleeping on the metal floor. Only Beastboy was comfortable since he turned into a cat and just curled into a ball. Outside, Batman, Batgirl and Dani in the Batwing.
They traveled for the entire night. They put the coordinates and followed the directions. It took them a long time to reach this deserted island.
"Prepare for landing," Phantom said, not feeling tired at all.
The two vehicles landed on the sandy shores. They all exited and looked at the dense trees and bushes. Batman led Batgirl and Dani to the right side of the island while Phantom led his team to the left.
The Titans spent the next minutes in the dense jungle, cutting off vines, branches and bushes, checking under every rock and searching every cave. They finally stopped in the middle of the forest, taking a breather.
"I think we got dupe," Raven said as she flicked a worm off her shoulder.
They jumped when Phantom punched the boulder, shattering it to large pieces. It was at that moment that Batman jumped from the trees, followed by Batgirl and Dani, who were empty handed as well.
"Now what?" Raven asked as they made their way out of the jungle, making their way to the vehicles.
Suddenly, their vehicles exploded, throwing them off their feet. They all groaned as they stood up and saw their ride on fire. They saw what caused the explosion; Sladebots emerging from the
"Not how I wanted to start my day," Dani said as they readied to fight.
"Titans, go!" Phantom exclaimed as he grabbed two handful of Ecto-rang and threw it to the robots. He hit their heads before they exploded. Terra used her powers to control the sand and buried the robots in the ground. Robin pulled out his Bo Staff and jumped in the middle of robots and started bashing the robots open. Beastboy jumped into the water and turned into a giant squid and started wrestling the robots that were swimming towards the island, wrapping them with his four tentacles. Starfire and Cyborg blasted the robots away with their Starbolts and Sonic Cannon. Raven used her magic to carry the robots and throw them at each other.
Batgirl and Dani were about to join the fight, but Batman stopped them. They gave him a confused look as he watched the Titans fight. Soon, all the robots were turned into rubble.
"You could have lend a hand, you know," Phantom commented to Batman as Beastboy emerged from the sea.
"You were able to handle it," Batman said as he looked at the rubble. "You handled it well."
"Now what?" Batgirl said as she stared at the smoking remnants of their air craft.
"Raven, can you teleport us back to Titan's Tower?" Phantom ask, turning to Raven.
Before Raven could reply, the sand burst open and one more Sladebot appeared. Before anyone could react, the robot started firing at everyone. It managed to hit Raven, causing her to disappear.
"RAVEN!" Robin exclaimed in horror. With a growl, he pulled out his Bo Staff and leapt towards the robot. Just as he was about to reach it, the robot fired and hit Robin on the chest, causing him to disappear.
It then fired at Beastboy, Cyborg and Terra. Phantom watched with wide eyes as his friends disappeared. It then started firing at Starfire, who managed to dodge the blasters. Suddenly, it was kicked away by Dani.
Batgirl then grabbed the robot and covered its eyes. The robot trashed a bit, firing the ray everywhere, hitting the trees and sound. It kicked Dani away before accidentally hitting her with its laser.
It then grabbed Batgirl off its back and threw her to the ground. Batgirl gasp as the robot pointed its laser to her and was about to fire when something hit the back of its head. It turned and saw a white boot before it was kicked away.
It stood up, but was tackled by Batman. The Dark Knight started punching the robot, but its armor was too strong. It then kicked the Batman off it, sending him towards Starfire. It took its chance to fire at them, causing them to disappear.
Soon, Batgirl and Phantom were the only ones left. The two just dodged the robot's laser, avoiding to get hit. Phantom turned invisible and sneaked behind the robot while Batgirl distract it. He then kicked the robot's head off, which flew straight up. The body then fall to the ground.
"Stupid robot," Phantom growled, shaking in grief and anger. Just like before, he failed to save his friends and family.
"Robin to anyone!" a voice exclaimed from the T-Comm, surprising the two teens. Phantom quickly pulled out his communicator and to his relief, saw Robin. "Can anyone read me?"
"Robin! Thank goodness you're still alive!" Phantom exclaimed with relief. "Where are you?"
"I'm in Beijing," Robin said as he moved aside, showing that he was in a different country. "Looks like that laser was actually a teleportation beam."
"Teleportation?" Batgirl said with disbelief.
"Plasmius," Phantom said with a growl. "Did you hear from anyone else?"
As they talked, Phantom and Batgirl didn't noticed the headless robot raising its hand. Without warning, the robot fired and hit both Batgirl and Phantom. Before the two know it, they were in Metropolis, on top of the Daily Planet.
"What happened?" Robin asked as he noticed a red flash.
"We're in Metropolis," Phantom said with a tired sigh. "Go and contact Raven. She might help you. Contact me if you find something."
Robin nodded and ended the call. Phantom grabbed Batgirl's arm and started flying down. Phantom then started thinking about the things they found; the robot power by ectoplasm, the coordinates, the robots that attacked them, and then that weird laser.
"This is getting more complicated by the second," Phantom commented as they landed on a nearby building. "One fruitloop is bad enough, but Vlad and Slade are…"
He stopped talking when he remembered what Slade said.
"The closer you get, the colder it'll be…"
Phantom's eyes widened before he grabbed Batgirl and started flying.
"Woah! Where are we going?!" Batgirl screamed as they flew towards Metropolis' Wayne Enterprise.
Phantom phased through the walls and made their way to Batman's other cave. Phantom dropped Batgirl and flew towards the big computer screen.
Phantom turned it on and started typing something. Batgirl watched as her friend rapidly pressed the buttons before a big map appeared on the screen.
"What are you doing?" Batgirl asked as she walked towards Phantom.
"Looking for Red Bird," Phantom said as he pressed 'ENTER'. He looked at the screen before five red dots appeared. Phantom looked at the locations before he activated his T-Comm.
"Can everyone hear me?" he said through the device. They all replied. "Good, I think I may have an idea where Red Bird is."
"Where is he?" Dani asked, her background showing she was in Paris.
"I have five possible locations," Phantom replied as he typed rapidly. "I'm sending the coordinates now. Go to the nearest location if you can. Phantom out."
He ended the call as he stood up.
"Get whatever you need," he said to Batgirl. "We're going to Sarajevo."
Batgirl nodded before she went and grab some equipment. She then went to a glass case that had a purple and black jetpack.
Once they were ready, Phantom and Batgirl, who was wearing the jetpack, nodded at each other before they flew out of Wayne Enterprise.
"Hang on, Red Bird," Batgirl said as they exited Metropolis. "We're coming."
Sarejevo…
Red Bird coughed as he was thrown to the ground. It was a day since Vlad invaded his mind He didn't remember much since then, but after that, he was sent here to an old warehouse and was being beaten by Slade.
He would have fought back, but his arms were handcuffed behind him. He had to endure the punches, kicks and throws. He could feel his bones break and blood coming through his mouth. His uniform got torn by the attacks, he even lost the white part of his eye mask, showing his swollen and blacked eyes.
"Is this the limit of your endurance?" Slade asked as he walked towards the downed sidekick and grabbed a handful of hair before squashing his head to the ground. "Pathetic. If you were my student, I would teach you to endure pain greater than this. I guess the Batman isn't as tough as they say."
He heard Red Bird mutter something. He lifted Red Bird's head a bit so he can hear what he said.
"What was that?" Slade asked. Suddenly, Red Bird spat a glob of blood, hitting Slade's eye. Angered, he smashed Red Bird's head on the ground before he stood up and wiped the blood off. He then noticed the smirk on Red Bird's face.
"You need more discipline, boy," Slade said as he stepped on Red Bird's head. The boy just closed his eyes before the pain started again.
One Day Later…
"We're here," Phantom said as he and Batgirl were on top of an abandoned village. Using the Bat Computer in Metropolis, Phantom searched for recent activities in any place with cold weather. He found five locations, and the one nearest to them was Sarajevo.
It took them a day without stop to get here. He could feel Batgirl getting tired from the lack of sleep. They needed to find Red Bird, and fast.
Phantom and Batgirl then noticed five thugs walking towards a building. Silently, the two teens followed the thugs. Once they were in the building, Phantom grabbed Batgirl's hand and turned invisible.
He then phased the two through the ceiling and saw the thugs laughed as they emptied two duffel bags full of money.
"This is the sweetest gig we did!" one of the thugs exclaimed as he took a stack of money,
"And all we did was hand that Slade guy some bombs," a big guy said as he drank a beer. "Easiest gig we ever did."
"Don't count on it," a voice said, surprising the thugs. Suddenly, there was a green blast that knock the big guy out.
Phantom and Batgirl then turned visible and charged at the thugs. Shaking out their shock, the thugs grabbed their guns and started firing. Phantom just turned intangible so the bullets would go through him while Batgirl just dodged the bullets with her acrobatic skills.
Phantom blasted the guns off their hands while Batgirl pulled out two pairs of bolas and threw it to the nearest thugs. Once they were tied up, she leapt and did a split kicked that hit their faces. Phantom just fired the other two to the ceiling, gluing them with Ecto-goo.
They heard a groan and saw the guy Phantom blasted started to wake up. Just as the thug opened his eyes, Phantom grabbed him by the shirt and threw him to a wall. The thug slammed into it before his arms and legs were restrained by goo.
"Hey, what's the big idea!?" the thug said before a punch in the gut made him gasp for air.
"I do the talking around here, pal," Phantom growled as he pushed his arm into the guy's neck. "Where's Slade?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," the man said with a sneer. "Why? He you're daddy or something?"
Without warning, he was punched in the fast so hard that his nose broke and a few teeth fell.
"Answer me again," Phantom growled, his eyes shining menacingly. "Where's Slade or I'll rip off your spine."
Phantom turned his hand intangible and phased through the man's body, much to his horror.
"You're b-b-b-bluffing," the man said in a shaky tone.
"Three…two…one…" Phantom counted down with an expression that said he wasn't joking.
"Okay! He's in another village not far from here, in a warehouse!" the man cried in horror. "He gave us some money for a few bombs!"
"Anything else?" Phantom asked again.
"T-t-t-there was a k-k-kid with him," the man replied shakily. "W-wearing a weird costume."
Phantom and Batgirl's eyes widened when they heard that. Phantom quickly removed his hand from the man's body and punched him, knocking the guy out.
"Let's hurry!" Phantom exclaimed as he and Batgirl flew out the building. He then pulled out his communicator and turned it on. "Phantom to everyone! Red Bird is here in Sarajevo, with Slade! Get here ASAP!"
He ended the call and the two flew towards the other village as fast as they can. Once they got to the village, they went towards the warehouse. Phantom wasted no time and blasted the door open.
The two entered the building and saw Slade standing there, the door falling right in front of him.
"It's about time you got here," Slade said like he was expecting them. "I was beginning to wonder if you'll ever make it here."
Phantom growled at the man in front of them. He then noticed the ground was covered in specks of blood, and there was a torn cloth with a yellow. R on it. Slade noticed where Phantom was looking at.
"That boy was tougher than he looks," Slade said. "It was fun trying to break him."
Phantom roared and charged at Slade, firing at him. Slade managed to dodge it, but he didn't dodge the punch Phantom threw to his stomach. Phantom kept punching and kicking until he released a strong Ghost Ray that tore Slade in half.
Batgirl gasped as she saw the brutal scene in front of her. She's never seen Phantom so brutal before. She jumped when Slade started laughing. She then noticed that Slade was releasing some static.
"You've learned well, Phantom," Slade said. "You finally let your anger take over you, to stop holding back."
"I knew you were a robot," Phantom said with a cold look. "That's why I didn't hold back. You're too much of a coward to face me in person."
"But you're too late," Slade said as the robot was slowly losing power. "In twenty minutes, there will be one less bird in the family." Slade started laughing before Phantom fired, destroying the robot.
"Let's split up!" Phantom exclaimed as he turned to Batgirl. "I'll take the north side! You take the west side!"
Batgirl nodded before the two flew out the building. Phantom flew from village to village, looking for Red Bird. Soon, they only have five minutes less and they were nowhere near finding Red Bird.
"You found him?" Batgirl said through the communicator.
"No," Phantom said with a growl as he exited the fifth building he searched. "He's not here."
"Darn it!" Batgirl exclaimed in anger. "Where did he take him?!"
"We just have to keep looking," Phantom said with an assuring voice as he flew to the next village.
"Look where?!" Batgirl exclaimed, the stress finally getting to her. "There's no other place to look! And we're running out of time!"
"We will find her, Barbara!" Phantom exclaimed, using Batgirl's real name which surprised her. "So don't worry, okay?" he said gently, trying to calm the girl down.
"…Right," Batgirl said as she took deep breath. "Sorry…"
"Don't be," Phantom said as he stopped at another village. "This is all…Plasmius!"
He exclaimed as he noticed the man who started all of this flying away from a warehouse that was on top of hill. The older halfa turned around and gave a sneer to Phantom.
"Well, it's been a while, Little Badger," he said as he stopped flying and looked at Phantom. "How are you?"
"I'll be fine once I break you!" Phantom exclaimed in anger as he charged at Vlad. He kicked and punched, but Vlad blocked and dodged. Vlad then caught Phantom's fist and threw him to a house.
"Are you sure you want to waste your time, Little Badger?" Vlad asked as Phantom glared at him. "You only have less than a minute."
Phantom's eyes widened before he turned to the warehouse. He growled before he shot up to the sky and towards the warehouse and was about to phase through when he was stopped by a Ghost Shield. He didn't noticed Vlad disappearing into a puff of pink smoke.
"No!" Phantom exclaimed as he started slamming his fists into the shield. "No! No! NooooOOOOOOOOO!"
Meanwhile, inside the warehouse, Red Bird was leaning on the locked door, gasping for air. He tried to escape when Slade and Vlad were gone, but he had to crawl to the door. Once he reached the door, he struggled to open it, but it was locked from the outside.
Red Bird groaned before leaning on the door, trying to think for a way out. Suddenly, he heard some beeping sound. He turned his head and his eyes widened when he saw a pile of bombs counting down.
He watched helplessly as the timer counted from 5…4…3…2…1…
He closed his eyes as the bombs exploded. Red Bird then felt someone grabbed him from behind before a green light surrounded him before the warehouse was destroyed.
A minute later, The Teen Titans, Dani, Batgirl and Batman all rushed towards the destroyed warehouse, worried in their faces.
"Danny!" Starfire exclaimed as she flew towards the wreckage. Soon, everyone started searching, pushing the wreckage out of their way.
Suddenly, one big slab of concrete was blasted away from a green blast. Everyone watched as Danny climbed out, carrying an unconscious Red Bird. Danny placed the boy on the ground before looking at the people in front of him.
"What took you?" he asked with a tired smile before the black haired boy fell to the ground.
Everyone rushed towards the two before Raven tended to their injuries. Batgirl and Dani were crying tears of relief as Raven said that Red Bird was going to be okay and that Danny was just exhausted.
Just as the timer ended, Phantom unleashed his Ghostly Wail to destroy the shield and he immediately rushed towards the warehouse. He phased through and saw the bombs exploded. Acting quickly, he grabbed Red Bird and created a green shield that protected them.
He then reverted to his human form as the wreckage piled over them. Using what little energy he had left, Danny fired a Ghost Ray so they can get out the rubble.
Batman looked at the two boys on the ground, releasing a breath that he was holding. He felt relief that none of them were dead, not knowing what he would do if he lost one of his protégées. He then clenched his teeth as he realized that Vlad Masters was behind this.
"They will pay for this," he muttered to himself as they teleported back to Gotham City.
One Day Earlier…
In the Bat Cave, Vlad appeared out of nowhere, looking at the cave before spotting the computer. He glided towards it before turning it on.
He bypassed the computer's security before he found what he was looking for, information on the Justice League.
"Excellent," Vlad said as he uploaded the files into a USB.
A Week Later…
In Titan's Tower, Medical Bay, Danny Fenton was lying on a white bed, breathing evenly. Suddenly, he stirred and slowly opened his eyes. Raven, who was watching them, gave a sigh of relief.
"How are you feeling?" Raven asked to Danny, who was lying on the bed, waking up.
"I feel like I ate a thousand greasy burgers in one go," Danny said as he rubbed his head. Suddenly, he remembered what they were doing. "What happened? Is Red Bird okay?"
"He's fine," Raven said, trying to calm Danny down as she pointed at the bed next to him. Danny turned and saw Jason sleeping peacefully. "You guys were out for an entire week. Everyone was worried for you two."
"Thank goodness," Danny said as he fell back to the bed. Suddenly, the doors opened and his friends rushed in. They tried exclaiming happily, but Raven stopped them, pointing at the sleeping Jason. Danny just grinned at them before Starfire gave him a hug, this time it was gentle.
"We were very worried for you two," she said as she let go. "We are joyous that you are fine."
"Thanks," Danny said with a smile. "Where's Batman?"
"Batman's back in Gotham," Batgirl replied. "He said that he needed to protect the city. He also said that you should contact him once you're awake."
"Okay," Danny said as he stood up from the bed, ignoring their protest. He tried transforming, but he was still too weak. Batgirl and Dani suddenly took his arms and supported him before carrying him towards the Titans' computer. The other Titans let the go alone, seeing that it was between the Bat Family.
"Danny," Batgirl said as they walked through the hall. "Thank you…"
"Hey, we're family," Danny said with a grin before he turned serious. "I won't lose my family…not again."
Once they got there, Danny started standing straighter and walked towards the computer. He turned it on and contacted Batman. After a few minutes, Batman appeared, showing the Bat Cave behind him.
"How are you feeling?" Batman asked in his serious voice.
"A little sick to my stomach, but I've been through worst," Danny said with a small grin.
"…Good job, Danny," Batman said in a softer voice.
"Still, that was a close call," Danny said with a frown. "If I was even a second later…"
"You shouldn't dwell in the past, remember," Batman said. "Besides, he's safe and that's what matters…though we have a problem."
"What?" Danny asked.
"Plasmius was here," Batman said, causing Danny to be surprised as Batman showed a footage of Plasmius appearing into the cave and hacking the Bat Computer. "He took something in my computer, but he erased every trace of whatever he was looking for."
"So that's why he kidnapped Jason?" Danny growled. "He almost killed him!"
"Whatever he took, it's important," Batman said. "We need to be ready for whatever he and Slade has plan."
"We're always ready," Danny said as he turned to Phantom. "So, when will you take Red Bird back?"
"Actually, I was thinking that he should stay with you until he recovers from…the experience he had," Batman said. "He needs time to heal, and time away from Gotham might do the trick."
"Sure, it's no problem," Phantom said, thinking that Jason must be traumatized. "We'll help in any way we can."
Batman nodded before he ended the call. He then turned to Batgirl and Dani before Terra entered the room hurriedly. ""Guys, Red Bird's awake!"
Later…
"You sure you guys don't wanna stay longer?" Phantom asked as he, Batgirl and Dani stood on top of the tower. Red Bird was still bedridden so he couldn't see them off.
"We've already stayed long enough," Batgirl said as she readied her jetpack. "Besides, Batman needs all the help he can."
"Well, safe trip," Phantom said to the two as they hugged him.
The two waved before they took off towards the Gotham. Phantom watched them go before they disappeared into the horizon. Phantom then looked at the sky, thinking about what Vlad and Slade did and what they would do to the info they took from Batman. It must have been important to make them go through all this trouble.
"Whatever you lunatics throw at us, we'll be ready," Phantom said before going back inside the tower, to ready for tomorrow and for their new guest.
What a close call! Red Bird managed to escape the grasp of death, but only barely! What Vlad took? All we know, it was related to the Justice League. What's more, Red Bird will be staying with the Titans temporarily. What adventure will the Titans do next? Stay tune for it. In the meantime, review time!
Ryumi Takastuki- Thanks for the support.
Guest- Depends on how fast I work.
gamelover41592- Say that three times and the Kool Aid guy will appear.
Taz-the-monster- Not in this story. True, Red Hood is an awesome character, but he will not be born from the dead. He will be born from the living! Bwuahahahaa! That sounded like something Dr. Frankenstein would say, so I added the laugh.
JP-Ryder- No GiW, but you were right with Slade and Vlad.
Darkverger1- Who knows? There's a lot of V-named villains. There's Venom, Vice, Vandal Savage, etc. But it was definitely Vlad.
BringbackDannyPhantom- Thanks for understanding. Besides, Danny didn't have a role there in that chapter.
PhantomDragon99- What'd you expect from Deadpool?
KuriMaster13- But then it would be boring for us.
scheffelman- Don't worry, I will. Naruto stories are addicting.
SPARTAN-626- I will, no problem.
Nicochan11- I did? Huh…well, when you write chapters for different stories, you kinda lost track.
Kaybugg1- Wait no more!
SuperiorBatman1- Yeah, Jason turning bad was a tragic, but it did inspired cool fanfics, like TBT's The Forgotten Hero. And yeah, that Robin was kinda brutal, but I think Damian Robin was more brutal.
Speedster419- I will, once the other stories are completed. Oh, and thank you for liking my stories.
gavin .dugger .5-Thanks, and they will, in the future. I mean, Vlad did just took something relating the JL. Whatever it is, it must be big!
Not a Guest- Nah, the story I was going with didn't have Jason dying. Sorry, but Red Hood will appear in the sequel of Phantom of Justice. Though you have to wait for it to be out. Hehehe.
Guest2- Nope. Just Vlad and Slade. Vlad and Slade, Slade and Vlad. Vladdy-man and the Slade Meister. V-man and the S-man. V and S. SV! Vlade and Slad.
Guest3- Nah, I'm not planning on doing a Teen Titans GO! story. Not much story. I am planning a surprise relating to Teen Titans GO!
Well, there you go. Before I sign off, I just wanna give a heads up that my summer is over and I'm going to school next week. Yeah, the days go by so fast. Which means, I need to study more and spend less time on the computer. But don't worry, I'll make some free time for my fanfics.
Well, next chapter, a special chapter! So review those questions! But this time, three-question limit! Cause answering too many questions in one chapter makes my brain go ow. See you later!
