History Lesson

Pulling into the parking lot he almost wants to throw up. Wolf stench. It's everywhere and though the trailer looks perfectly normal at the edge of Shreveport, Warlow knows it's anything but. He doesn't linger in his car and instead heads inside. Better get this over with. Glancing at the dark sky he's glad for Sookie's late shift at Merlotte's. It allows him ample time to deal with business and drive back before she realizes he was even gone.

He almost showed up during the day but knew that while his faery scent wasn't potent and could only be smelled from spilt blood, his vampire scent was overpowering. He was going to have to play the normal vampire tonight. Normal vampire? What a laugh. Smirking one last time he enters the trailer clutching the blue prints tightly.

"So can you do it?" He's leaning across from Jackson Hervaaux lead construction guy and Packmaster. It didn't surprise Warlow that the man who was getting up in his years had two men at his side. Wolf's could never feel comfortable unless they were surrounded by their pack. Pathetic. Still, Warlow leaned against the leather chair making sure to look as unaffected as possible. There was nothing that the mutts hated more than the enemy feeling cozy in their territories.

"Of course we can do it. The question is whether you can pay for it." Jackson answers as he stares at Warlow right in the eyes. The blue prints are stretched across the desk and though some alterations have already been discussed the real deal is barely being negotiated.

"Honestly that's not a concern to me. How discreet can you be?" Though through the pack masters face it's clear that he isn't finding Warlow amusing he moves on.

"Very, we would be in and out within two to three weeks allotting for the weather that is." Warlow narrows his eyes but skimming the man's mind he finds nothing out of the ordinary. Though he doesn't think he will find bad dealing, given how well this crew has come recommended, it wouldn't surprise him to find something akin to scams when it came to the time needed. "Also the light tight space depending on how intricate you want it, is a more delicate process." Right the light tight areas. Warlow had forgotten he would need to make something like that or the wolves would become very suspicious instantly.

"Nothing special the basement is good. Except I would need it to be accommodating to a human as well." One of the men at his side began to write things down while Jackson simply nodded. These dealings were nothing new and though vampires might not be public knowledge, human/vampire relationships weren't abnormal in the least.

"Yes well, then as soon as we can get the permits we can break ground." Warlow nodded, glad that this wasn't going to be the hassle he thought it could have been.

"Sounds excellent."

"Very well Mr. Flynn, I do think we are going to have a business deal." The pack master grins and Warlow can't help but grin as well, finally he could start making Sookie's dreams come true.

He can't help but scrub his body a little more roughly. Lingering in wolf territory always made a person smell like mutt for days after. Their scent lingered. Still he can't spend all night in the bathroom, instead he dresses quickly and rushes off to pick up Sookie.

"Oh look there he is, I told you he was coming. Bye Sam!" He hears Sookie's voice bounce off and echo in the desolate parking lot before he sees her bounding out to meet him.

"I'm sorry, I'm…" He tries to apologize as he opens up her door but instead he is caught off guard by how enthusiastically she embraces him. Her lips find his and he falls into her like she's a vortex. All he can feel are her hands gripping him and her slick tongue in his mouth, it's enough to drive him mad. She pulls away as quickly as she pulled him closer.

"You're not late, we just finished a couple minutes early. It's a week night, not too many drunk stragglers today." She grins at him and pecks him once more on the mouth. "Can we walk?"

"What?" His brain tries to catch up with her words. Her scent and touch has him all out of focus and she seems very energetic for someone who just finished a long days work.

"Leave your car here and let's walk back to my place? It's so nice out." She glances up at the moon and though she looks radiant in the Sun, like a goddess, in the pale moonlight she looks like a vixen come out play. So of course he grins and gives in to her.

"Of course, whatever you want."

"You're the best!" She kisses him quickly once more before starting down the dark road with him at her side. "So I waited tables, accidentally heard a man think about his mistress while he was having dinner with his family, and the cherry to my night: I got to see Tara sass Sam for like twenty whole minutes before he lost his cool. What did you do?" She rattles off her list quickly and even though Merlotte's can still be seen behind them he can tell Sookie is in a talkative mood tonight.

"Nothing interesting spoke to some construction crew about starting to build the house." Despite living so many years alone this is new and enjoyable. He enjoys the simple question that rolls off Sookie's tongue that asks him what he did, he enjoys that she actually wants to know the answer.

"Are you joking?"

"No?"

"That's huge news. I'm so happy for you!" The smile that lights up her face was something he should have expected but he couldn't help but still be affected by it. It almost seemed surreal that she was by his side smiling like that at him, because of him. "I can't wait until you can have your own place and get out of the motel. Not that there's anything wrong with it. But you know it's not my favorite place to be." He can tell she's trying to backtrack and realizes she thinks she's offending him.

"Relax Sookie I know how much you dislike that place. Besides I'm happy too, it will be nice to have a place where I don't have to play human constantly." It was going to be nice to be free to do as he pleased without worrying about making the daily appearance at his hotel room.

"Play human?" Her face scrunches up in confusion and he enjoys how eager she is to always learn more about him.

"Yeah you know the people of Bon Temps are a nosy bunch. It will be nice not having to walk all the way to the woods before running somewhere." Despite the fact that they're near the main road Sookie leads him a little more into the woods. She's still ensconced in her Merlotte's uniform of white t-shirt and black shorts but despite the slight bar and grill smell that lingers on her skin, he enjoys watching her figure in the moonlight.

"So your house is going to be like a vampire playground?"

"You could say that."

"How sad and here I was thinking it was going to be faery world, you know with maximum sun capacity."

"I think the Werewolves would find it odd if I asked for a sun roof."

"Werewolves?" She stops in her tracks and he realizes that though he's been telling her about vampires and faeries he's never mentioned how much variety there is in the supernatural world.

"Yeah you know humans that can turn into wolves."

"Werewolves are real? Like real, real?" She makes one hand into a claw and scratches at the air while making growling noises, to emphasize her point.

"Yes, but honestly you sound like a fiery kitten." She glowers at him for a second before going back on topic.

"That's amazing. I mean I guess I should have known that. I'm a faery and you're a faery vampire so… are all mythical creatures real?"

"Where do you think myths come from? Witches, Wendigos, shape shifters, etc all are actual things, most of them living normal lives. Well some of them, not all of them, once we all lived out in the open but over time we've all been good at hiding ourselves. Going underground so to speak."

"What happened?"

"Human kind does love to procreate. Suddenly a town of angry villagers could do more harm than they used to. It was realized that being outnumbered by your prey wasn't as ideal as it sounded, they tended to fight back in large numbers. So everyone stopped being so open and only hunted when it was feasible. Witches didn't want to get burned at the stake and vampires didn't want to be decapitated. It was for the best." He remembers how vampires had been chased out of towns, werewolves captured and tortured, the dark ages were not very nice times for humans or supes. Though thanks to his dual identity it was easier for him to stay safe it was one of the hardest times to find a good meal.

"So it's like there's two worlds, everyday human stuff and the supernatural world. I mean werewolves who do construction?"

"You would be surprised by how many businesses can be traced back to some supernatural backer."

"Interesting. What about you?" They have reached the road that will lead them straight to Sookie's house but instead of increasing her pace she seems to slow down.

"What about me?"

"Do you own some weird business, like a blood bank or something?"

"No, when your as old as me it's better to be as underground as possible. My money is all made through investments and stocks."

"Wow, so you weren't lying necessarily when you told Gran you lived off an inheritance?"

"Not really, it just so happens I created my own inheritance." She smiles at his lame joke and he reaches for her hand to lace their fingers together. "It probably helped no one else was their to spend it with me."

"Warlow?" She tilts her face up and looks directly into his eyes.

"Yeah?"

"You've been alive a long time right?"

"Yes, a very long time." She nods her head trying to take it in.

" Have you been alone for a long time?"

"For the most part, I'm not exactly a vampire that other vampires like to be around." No one liked an oddball faery vampire, especially one that had existed for a millennia. If it wasn't because of his age it was the trace of fae that alerted to others that there was something not quite right with him.

"Well don't worry because now you have me, and you still have a lot to teach me." "Forever?" He shouldn't have asked. Everything had been going so well lately and she had been in such a relaxing mood tonight, but it was the first question that had come to mind. Are you ready to be mine forever? He knew the answer he so desperately wanted was a yes, but he wasn't sure if that was feasible yet. There was a hitch in her breath and then an slight pause before he received his answer.

"I…" Turning her face she looked at her farm house before facing him again. "I think I need to learn more before saying yes. But keep asking." It wasn't what he wanted but it was more than he had hoped for.

"Don't worry I'll never stop." He leaned down and gave her a kiss one that wasn't as frantic as their earlier one. He could feel her meld into his form easily and knew that it was only a manner of time before she became his for good.
