Hello, hello! And welcome to another new chapter of Phantom Leader II! You guys better get ready to say goodbye to Red Bird, because this will be his last appearance for the story. It's time for the Red Bird to go back to his nest. But first, some life lessons with the Phantom.
So just sit back and enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 13: Flight of the Red Bird
Red Bird was running as fast as he can. He was inside a warehouse, the lights flickering weakly. He looked a little beat up, his uniform had tears and he had a few bruises. He ran towards the exit. He grabbed the handle, but it wouldn't budge.
"Darn it!" he exclaimed as he kicked the door. He looked at the communicator Phantom gave him, but it was busted. He was panicking as he kept kicking the door, praying that Batman, Phantom or anyone would come and save him.
"Face it, little bird," a voice said that echoed through the building. "You can't escape, and no hero is going to save you."
He turned and saw Slade walked towards him with a cold look in his eye. He turned around, only to be grabbed by the neck by Vlad, who was smirking cruelly at him. He was thrown to the ground. He looked up as the two villains laughed at him. Without warning, the two villains turned into a giant fire monster, the fiery hands closing in on him.
He gasped as he sat up from his bed. He frantically looked around and saw that he was still in the guest room of Titan's Tower. Jason looked outside the window and saw that the sky was beginning to change color.
His shirt was drenched in sweat, and so was the bed. He sighed as he rubbed his face. It's already been weeks since his abduction, but he still hasn't got over it. Every time he was left alone, he kept seeing himself in the warehouse, beaten and tied up, just seconds away from dying.
He shuddered as he thought about what might have happened if Phantom hadn't come in the nick of time to save him.
He tried to act like everything was fine, but it wasn't. He was scared. That's why every time the Titans did a mission, he would either stay in the Tower with supervision, or go with Phantom. He just hoped that he could get over this. He doesn't, his days as Red Bird will be over.
"I need a shower," he sighed as he stood up and took his shirt off.
Later…
"Guard your left more!" Phantom shouted as he aimed a kick on Red Bird's left. Red Bird lifted his staff to block it before he swung at Phantom's head, who easily blocked it. "Don't make your movements obvious!"
With Red Bird's chest unguarded, Phantom jabbed Red Bird, sending him down on his bottom. It was their morning spar, since Phantom decided to train Red Bird while under his watch. He admit that Red Bird was a very skilled fighter, better than him even.
But right now, he noticed that Red Bird's movements were a little stiff, hesitant even. He's been noticing that Red Bird has been a little hesitant. Red Bird began spending little time on the field, and even when he did, he would only accompany Phantom.
"That's enough for now," Phantom said as he took a deep breath.
"Wait, I can go on!" Red Bird said as he quickly stood up.
"You're distracted," Phantom said as he looked at Red Bird. "You can't fight well if your mind is distracted."
Red Bird looked down in shame, causing Phantom to sigh. Truth be told, he knew what Red Bird was going through. When he first started being Batman's apprentice, he was afraid of his powers and couldn't use it. It was only when he faced his fears that his powers returned to him.
"Look, if you're ready to talk, just tell me," Phantom said before exiting the training room, leaving Red Bird alone.
Phantom was walking towards the kitchen to grab a drink. When he got there, he wasn't surprised to see Raven. She is the one who woke the earliest in the team. On her hand was the usual purple mug of herbal tea.
"Morning, Rae," Phantom greeted as he grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.
"Morning," she greeted as she took a sip. "Is Red Bird still having problems?"
"So you can tell," Phantom said with a sigh. "He's still thinking about what happened with Slade and Plasmius. And I can't blame him. He's still young, and what he experienced isn't something you forget."
"Do you want me to talk to him?" the empath asked.
"No," Phantom said as he looked at her. "Jason's a strong kid. I know he can get through this, but only if he wants to. Just give him some time."
Raven looked at him before nodding. She trusted his judgement, so she would let him do it his way. They spent the next few minutes in silence before the rest of their team joined them for breakfast.
Once they all ate, it was time for their daily patrol. It was Robin's turn for monitor duty while the rest would patrol the city. As usual, Red Bird was following Phantom, who was flying in the air.
"Have anything to report?" Phantom said as he and Red Bird finished patrolling their part of the city.
"None."
"Nope."
"The nada."
"Well, it has been a quiet week," Phantom commented, looking at the city. "But still, keep an eye out for trouble."
Red Bird was standing on the edge of a building, looking like he was thinking something important. He was thinking about whether he should still be wearing this costume. He noticed that he couldn't fight the way he used to before. All he could think about was his close brush with death.
But he didn't want to quit. Being Red Bird gave him a purpose from being a petty thief to a hero. Well, a sidekick to a hero, but they were the same difference. He wanted to remain as the Red Bird.
He sighed, wondering how he could get over his fear. He suddenly heard something behind him. Turning around, he spotted a shadow running inside the building. Narrowing his eyes, he followed the shadow in the building.
He rushed inside, jumping down one stairway at a time. After jumping down four stairways, he was in a long, dark hallway. He saw a door that looked opened. With narrowed eyes, he walked towards the door, feeling his heart beating with every step.
When he opened the door, he gasped as he saw the room full of explosions. He saw that it had a timer on it, with about twenty seconds left. In a panic, he turned around to run, only to find a wall in front of him.
He began pounding on the wall, trying to break it as the seconds tick by. He looked back as the timer almost ran out. He closed his eyes, waiting for the explosion to happen.
"Red Bird?" a voice said causing him to open his eyes. He was surprised to see himself back on top of the building, with Phantom in front of him. He looked around wildly, looking for the bombs. "You okay there?"
"I…I'm okay," he said as he stood up. Was he going crazy?
Phantom didn't believe him, but he respected his decision on not telling him. He used to keep secrets to Batman, so he understood what he was going through.
"Listen, Red Bird," Phantom said, getting his attention. "There was a time when I was afraid to use my powers."
"Really?" he said, looking surprised.
"Yeah," Phantom said as he looked at his glowing hands. "I was too afraid to use my full power, so I had to train my body and hone my skills. But every time I try to use my powers, my mind wandered and almost cost me the mission, and lives."
Phantom then looked at Red Bird with a look of understanding. "But when Gotham needed it, I pushed through my fears and used my powers, even better than before."
He placed a hand on his shoulder. "Just know that fear restrains us, but only if we let it."
Red Bird looked at Phantom before back to the ground. After that, the two went back to the Tower, unaware of a pair of eyes looking at them with evil intent.
Later…
Phantom was walking through the hall, wondering why it was so quiet. Usually, he would hear Beastboy and Cyborg playing videogames at the living room. He entered the living room, expecting to see his team happily playing doing their usual thing, only to see an empty room.
Okay, now he was worried.
"Guys?" he called, walking in the room, looking around with a sharp eye. "Beastboy? Cyborg? Raven!? Robin!? Terra!? Red Bird!? Starfire!? Where are you guys!?"
Phantom grabbed his T-Comm and tried to contact them, but all he received was static. With a worried look, he started running through the Tower, calling their names. When he saw that no one was in their rooms, he decided to fly out to look for them. Just as he was about to phase through the roof, it exploded, sending him on the ground.
Dazed, he looked up and his eyes widened when he saw all his Ghostly enemies looking down on him with eager expressions on their faces.
"Hello, Whelp," Skulker said with a cruel grin.
Meanwhile, Cyborg was calmly walking through the streets, feeling a sense of foreboding. He just decided to talk a walk and get some fresh air, maybe do some window shopping. But after a few hours, he began to feel like something bad was gonna happen.
"Excuse me, sir!" a voice said, getting his attention. He looked and saw a man in a suit standing next to a car with the hood up. "Can you help me?"
"What's the problem?" Cyborg asked as he walked towards him.
"My car won't start," he said, gesturing at the hood. Cyborg walked towards it and checked it out, only to see no problems with it.
"Are you sure there's-AAAUGH!" Cyborg screamed as he felt something attack him from behind. He fell to the ground and slowly turned his head. He saw several men in black suits before he felt himself being picked up.
"You will make a very interesting test subject," one of them said before blacking out.
Terra was walking through the beach, looking at the sea. She was playing with the sand, using her powers to make sand sculptures of her friends. She hummed as she looked at the night sky with a small smile.
She looked back on her sculpture and was about to make them move when they suddenly exploded, surprising her. Her hands suddenly glowed yellow, causing the sand to rise up in the air and turning into stone.
"W-what's happening!?" she exclaimed as she tried to control the glow in her hands, only for them to grow brighter. The tower suddenly flew up into the air and headed towards Jump City, much to her horror.
Starfire was happily flying over the city, looking over it. She enjoyed the cool night air this city has. It was much different to Tamaran's, which was hot. The cool air felt nice on her skin.
"Well, well, well," a familiar voice said behind her, causing her to stop in shock. She turned around, only to be blasted by a purple Starbeam. She landed on a rooftop, groaning. She looked up and saw Blackfire, smiling at her cruelly.
"Hello, sister," she said, her eyes and hands glowing. "Did you miss me?"
Raven was waking in a dark cave, fear and worry etched on her face. She looked around, feeling a sense of dread in her chest. Suddenly, a portal opened in front of her and she gasped in horror.
"No, it can't be!" she exclaimed as she tried to stand up, only to remain frozen. Glowing ruins appeared around her, swirling around her, changing.
"It is time!"
Beastboy was in the desert, running through the sandy ruins as a cheetah. He enjoyed this feeling of the wind rushing past him. He was feeling a little holed up in the Tower, so he decided to fly somewhere deserted and spend a few hours there.
He reverted back to human form and stretched his limbs. He took a deep breath, enjoying the non-polluted air. He looked at the sky, which was full of stars, something he hasn't seen in Jump City.
His ear twitched when he heard something behind him. Confused, he turned around, only to be hit with a dart, giving a surprised yelp. He pulled out the dart and was about to shout at the one who fired, only to feel woozy.
He tried to keep standing, only to fall to the ground. The last thing he remembered before blacking out was some boots coming towards him.
Robin was in a train yard, looking at the circus train that he used to work with from the shadows. He heard that they were coming. He wanted to see how they were doing, so he decided to go to the yard and watch them. He gave a nostalgic smile as he watched some familiar faces laughing around and practicing their routine.
He missed them, and he missed his parents. He vowed that Plasmius will pay for what he did to him, from killing his family to turning him into Red X. He sighed as he prepared to go back to the Tower, only to be shocked from behind. With a pained scream, he fell to the ground, blacking out.
Red Bird in his room, thinking about what Phantom told him. He had trouble believing that Phantom used to be scared, but then again, Phantom used to be his age. So maybe he can get over this.
He perked up when he heard something from the hallway. Narrowing his eyes, he stood up from his bed, pulling out a batarang, and walked out his room. It was dark and suspiciously quiet.
He stealthily ran towards the Ops Room, hoping that someone would be there. When he got there, it was empty and dark.
"Hello?" he called as he walked in the room. "Is anyone here?"
"No one but us, little bird," a voice said behind him. Ice flowed through his veins as he turned around, looking at the cold, gray eye of Slade.
"What are you doing here!?" he exclaimed in panic.
"Your little tower wasn't so hard to enter, once the annoyances were gone," another voice behind him said. He turned and saw Plasmius, his eyes glowing red.
Red Bird stepped back away from them, only to hit something. He turned and saw explosions, enough to blow up the Tower to kingdom come!
"And now, your big brother isn't here to save you," Slade said as he pulled out a trigger from his belt. "Say goodbye, little bird."
He pushed the trigger and the bombs exploded. The fire erupted around him before turning into a monstrous inferno with red eyes and fiery fangs. The monster lunged towards him as he stood there, paralyzed with fear.
He looked at his shaking fists, not knowing what to do. He suddenly remembered Phantom's words. He looked back at the flaming monster before he stopped shaking. He's not going to be afraid anymore. He stared right at the monster, no longer shaking in fear.
When the monster touched him, it exploded in contact, turning into dust, surprising him. Suddenly, the world blackened before crumbling into nothingness. He found himself in a dark space, floating on it.
"Where am I?" he asked himself before he noticed a light shining behind him. He looked and saw that it was a window of some kind. Curious, he floated towards it and looked through the light. His eyes widened when he saw that it was Phantom, only he was surrounded by a lot of Ghost enemies, all laughing and mocking him. Lying in front of the beaten Phantom was Red Bird and Titans, all dead.
"You failed to save them, just like you failed to save your family," Skulker said in a mocking tone. "All that training, and for what? For nothing!"
"Darn it…" Phantom said in a weak tone.
"Phantom, that's not real!" Red Bird exclaimed as he was about to pound the window, only for him to slip in it. With a scream, he fell through the window and landed next to Phantom. The halfa looked at Red Bird in confusion before looking at the dead Red Bird.
"Red Bird?" he said, looking back and forth. "But then, who's that?"
"Phantom, this isn't real!" Red Bird exclaimed. "It's all a trick!"
"A trick?" Phantom said in disbelief. He just witnessed his team getting killed in front of them by his enemies, watching helplessly.
"Stop being scared!" Red Bird exclaimed. "This will all stop if you stopped being afraid!"
"Enough, time to die, whelp!" Skulker exclaimed as he flew towards Phantom, a blade appearing on his wrist, ready to cut Phantom down.
But he wasn't looking away. He stared at the coming knife unflinchingly. When it touched his neck, it dissolved. Skulker and the other Ghosts screamed as they slowly dissolve into nothingness, so did everything around them.
There was an explosive bright light, the two heroes fell to the ground, surrounded by darkness. Phantom slowly stood up and looked around in confusion.
"Red Bird, what's happening?" Phantom asked in confusion.
"I don't know," Red Bird replied honestly. "I just got freed from my nightmare."
"Hm…if you found me, then the others might be here," Phantom said as he stroked his chin. "Let's find them."
Red Bird nodded and the two blindly ran through the darkness. A few minutes later, they found another glowing window. They ran towards it and when they peeked through it, they saw a robot kneeling on the ground, crying in anguish.
"That's Cyborg!" Phantom exclaimed in shock. "We have to get him out of there!"
Before the two could enter his head, a black-gloved hand suddenly grabbed the two and threw them away from the window. The two looked and saw large woman wearing a skintight, green and black body suit that covers everything but her face., complete with a green cape.
"You won't be freed!" she exclaimed as she glared at the two heroes. "You will be destroyed, by Phobia!"
"You know her?" Red Bird asked as he looked at Phantom.
"No, but I plan to," Phantom said as he pulled out two Ecto-rangs. "Go get Cyborg while I keep her busy."
Red Bird nodded before running towards the window. Phantom flew towards Phobia, throwing the two Ecto-rang. She just smirked, and with a big swipe from her hand, deflected the Ecto-rang and Phantom to the ground.
"You can't beat me, not while you're in my world!" she exclaimed as she went to flatten Phantom with the palm of her hand. He quickly rolled away before flying up, firing Ghost Rays and grenade disks at her.
Meanwhile, Red Bird was in Cyborg's world, watching the metallic hero kneeling on the ground, exclaiming "WHY!" and "NO!" while the men in lab coats laugh at him.
"Cyborg!" Red Bird exclaimed, getting the robot's attention.
"R-R-Red Bird?" Cyborg said in a robotic voice. "W-w-what are you doing here?"
"This isn't real!" Red Bird shouted. "This is all in your head!"
"What?" Cyborg said, looking at Red Bird with red eyes. "What do you mean?"
Before Red Bird could reply, the scientists grabbed Red Bird and shackled him to the wall. Red Bird struggled as they pulled out several, painful-looking tools.
"Oh look, another test subject," one of them said in a malicious manner. "Let's see what we can make out of him."
"Cyborg! Stopped being scared!" Red Bird shouted to the robot. "If you stopped, you won't be afraid anymore!"
Cyborg looked at Red Bird before at his reflection on the floor. He was always afraid of losing his human part, to become an emotionless machine. He looked at his robotic hands before he clenched them.
Red Bird struggled harder as the mad scientists walked nearer to him. This may not be real, but he didn't want to take the chance. He felt his face getting marked by a marker. His eyes widened as a scalpel was going towards his face.
Before they could cut him, the scientists were blasted away by a sonic cannon. Red Bird looked and saw that the robot fired at them before punching its face. The metal started crumbling before revealing Cyborg's face.
"Booyah," he said as the extra metal around him crumbled, giving him his normal appearance. When the metal bits touched the ground, the world started crumbling as well.
The two fell back in the dark place where Phantom was fighting Phobia. The halfa was not faring well. Despite this being just an illusion, he was getting beaten very badly.
"AAAAGH!" she suddenly shouted as she began to grow smaller.
Phantom looked at her with wide eyes before at Cyborg and Red Bird. "So, she becomes stronger through fear. Guys!"
The two looked at Phantom, with Cyborg staring at Phobia with wide eyes.
"What's happening!?" he exclaimed as they rushed to help Phantom. He fired at Phobia, knocking her a few feet away.
"Long story short, we need to free the others!" Phantom exclaimed as he fired at Phobia, causing her to scream. "Go find them! I'll handle her!"
The two nodded before running off while Phantom flew towards Phobia. He needed to keep her distracted so Red Bird and Cyborg can free the others.
Cyborg was inside Beasboy's fear, which was him being hunted like an animal and about to be turned into a stuffed Beastboy.
"Someone, help me!" he exclaimed as the men pulled out their machetes and other scary looking tools.
"Hold on, BB!" Cyborg exclaimed as he charged towards the hunters. "I'm coming!"
"Cy!" Beastboy exclaimed in relief. He watched as his titanic friend fight the hunters. He was doing well, bashing their heads and blasting the and blasting them off their feet, until a hunter from behind used a Taser spear and shocked Cyborg from behind.
Beastboy watched with horror as his friend was pinned to the ground. Growling in anger, he tried to transform to free himself from the table. With a roar, he transformed into a gorilla. With a loud roar, he charged at the hunters and was about to swipe them, but they disintegrate upon contact.
Meanwhile, Red Bird was in Robin's fear, watching as Robin was strapped inside the Ghost Portal by Vlad. He watched him struggle by his binds as Plasmius readied the machine.
"Robin!" Red Bird shouted getting his attention. "Snap out of it! This isn't real!"
"Red Bird?" Robin said in confusion, staring at the boy with wide eyes. "What do you mean this isn't real!"
"It's an illusion!" Red Bird shouted before he was blindsided by Vlad, causing him to slam to a metal wall. "Ow…a very solid illusion…"
He was hoisted up to the air by Vlad, who was ready to blast him to ashes. Robin looked at them before at his bindings. This was all an illusion. He hoped it was. He didn't want to become a monster like Vlad.
"This isn't real," he muttered to himself, struggling harder to free himself. "This isn't real!"
With that shout, he was free from his bindings and quickly charged at Vlad. He blindsided older halfa and kicked him to the wall just as he was about to fire at Red Bird. The moment he hit the wall, Vlad dispersed into the air, as well as the lab.
The two fell to the ground and saw Phantom flying towards them, landing on the ground roughly. He groaned as he rubbed his head.
"Phantom, what's going on?" Robin asked before he saw Phobia stomping towards them. "And who's that!?"
"Short story; free friends, we win," Phantom said as he rubbed his head. "Any of you guys wanna tag in?"
"Booyah!" the three started when they heard that. They saw Cyborg flying towards Phobia like a cannonball. He hit her in the stomach, causing her to double over. They then heard a roar and a green T-Rex was rushing towards Phobia. The dinosaur slapped her with its tail, sending her to the ground.
"A monster fight where I want the monster to win," Phantom commented as Red Bird and Robin helped him up his feet.
"Who else is missing?" Red Bird asked.
"The girls," Phantom said as he rubbed his ribs. "Man, for an illusion, she packs a wallop."
The three split off while Cyborg and Beastboy fought Phobia. Phantom found one and went through it. Inside, he saw Jump City crumbling as spires of earth erupted from the ground. He saw Terra at the center, but her body was covered in stones, gluing her to the ground. She was crying as she struggled to free herself.
"Help…someone," she said hoarsely, like she spent the day screaming.
"Terra!" Phantom shouted as he flew towards her, dodging the spires erupting below him. He landed in front of her, causing her to weakly look at him.
"Phantom…help me…" she pleaded, her eyes glowing yellow.
He run towards her, only to be caught by the earth, trapping his limbs by rocky tentacles. He tried to phase through it, but something cancelled his powers.
"Terra, control your powers!" he shouted to the blond.
"I…I can't," Terra said with tears flowing from her eyes. Her fears came true, she finally lost control of her powers, and the city is paying for it.
"Yes you can!" Phantom shouted. "Remember what I thought you! You control the power, Terra! It doesn't control you!"
Terra looked at Phantom, his eyes shining fiercely. Nodding a bit, she took a deep breath and calmed herself. She willed the earth with own power, fighting the power. A yellow glow surrounded her before she released a loud shout and the glow dispersed, so did the world.
The two then found themselves back in the dark area, where Beastboy and Cyborg were fighting Phobia.
"What is this place?" Terra said in confusion.
"No time to ask!" Phantom exclaimed as he noticed Phobia growing weaker.
Robin found Raven, and he was actually afraid of what was happening. The world was on fire, people turned to stone and Raven was floating above her father, with the skeletons of the Titans hanging on his neck. He saw Raven had four, red eyes, her skin an angry red and horns from her fore head. There were tears leaking from her eyes as she watched the destruction she caused.
"Raven!" he shouted, getting the girl's attention. Her eyes widened as she saw him running towards her.
"Robin? You're alive?" she said in disbelief.
"This isn't real! All of these isn't real!" Robin shouted before a red glow covered his body and hosting him to the air.
"So, one of the bugs survived?" Trigon said in a deep, powerful voice as he levitated Robin near him. "It doesn't matter. I'll just kill you again!"
"Raven, you don't have to be afraid of him anymore!" Robin shouted as he felt enormous pressure squeezing him. "You're not alone! I'm here! I'll help you! So don't be afraid!"
Raven looked at him with her four eyes before at Trigon. Could she really be brave enough to fight her father, the demon of all demons? All her life she dreaded this moment, to be caused of the end of the world and her friends' demise.
A painful scream shook her out of her thoughts as Robin was slowly crushed to death.
"No!" she exclaimed before she raised her hands, casting a spell. Her eyes were glowing as she glared at her father. "Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos!"
She fired a beam of magic towards Trigon, blasting him on the chest. With a roar, he suddenly dispersed, freeing Robin. He fell towards the burning Earth as Raven flew towards him. In a flash of bright light, Raven was back to normal and on top of Robin.
"Robin? What's going on?" she said as she looked around in confusion.
"Um…" Robin said, blushing a bit from the close contact. Raven then notices before she quickly stood up, blushing a bit.
"Guys!" a voice exclaimed, causing the two to jump and turn, seeing Phantom and Terra running towards them. "Good to see you here. Now all that's missing is Starfire."
Red Bird was dodging blasters caused by the Gordanians, the aliens that Phantom and his team fought before becoming the Titans. Leading them was Blackfire, who was cackling evilly. Starfire was behind the army, bounded and dressed like Blackfire.
"Starfire, a little help!" he shouted as he threw a disc grenade to a big group of Gordanians, sending them scattering.
"I cannot break free," Starfire said with teary eyes. "Where are the others? Have they abandoned me?"
"No, they would never do that!" Red Bird shouted before he was piled by a group of Gordanians. He was grabbed by the arms and lifted into the air. "They're your friends, and would never betray you!"
"Don't listen to him, little sister," Blackfire said with a cruel smirk. "Why did you think I got here so easily."
"She's lying! Heck, she's not even real!" Red Bird shouted.
"What?" Starfire said, looking at Red Bird with confused, teary eyes.
"This is all an illusion, and you can break it!" Red Bird shouted. "You just need to stop being afraid!"
He screamed when Blackfire fired at him. "Silence! It's time we finish this annoyance."
Starfire watched helplessly as her sister floated towards Red Bird, before she remembered what he said. Was all of this really an illusion. All of this, her greatest fear, wasn't real? For her friends to betray and abandon her to her sister and become the slave of the Gordanians. If this isn't real, then she needs to stop this!
With a growl, her eyes started glowing before she blasted her restraints away. She flew towards Blackfire and punched her on the face, sending her to the group of Gordanians. They dispersed into the air as they made contact to each other.
The Titans were fighting Phobia as she slowly weakened. She thought she could handle these children, but they were troublesome than she thought. The only thing keeping her standing was the last source of fear was that alien girl.
Which suddenly disappeared, causing her to shrink to her normal size, surrounded by the Titans. In a bright light, Starfire and Red Bird next to the Titans.
"Now then, time to show you why you should be afraid of the Teen Titans," Phantom said as the Titans surrounded her, making the villainess gulp in fear. "Titans, go!"
She screamed as they all attacked, breaking the illusion world she created. The Titans all gasped and stood up, finding themselves in their Living Room. They looked around frantically before spotting Phobia, who was kneeling on the ground, panting in fear.
"No!" she exclaimed as she spotted the Titans. She looked at them with terror in her eyes. "Stay away!"
"…I think we broke her…" Beastboy commented as they looked at each other before at the frightened villainess.
"I guessed I have to wait before asking her why she attacked us," Phantom commented, rubbing the back of her neck. "Let's take her to the prison. They can help her there."
The Next Day…
"You sure you don't wanna stay for a while," Phantom commented as he and Red Bird stood at the garage, with Red Bird on his new motorcycle, ready to go.
"Yeah, I wanna go back and help Bats out," Red Bird said with a small grin. "And well, I wanna learn more from him. I wanna become like you."
"Don't be me, be yourself," Phantom said as he placed a hand on his shoulder. "Be the best Red Bird out there."
Red Bird grinned before he put on his helmet and hefted his pack. He gave him a two-fingered salute before he drove through the exit. Phantom watched his little brother figure go before he smiled. The two sparred before he left, and it was like he was a different person. He wasn't holding back anymore.
"You gonna go far, kid," Phantom said as Red Bird rode through Jump City, ready to go back to Gotham City.
And there's the life lesson. Don't be afraid, and it is Halloween now, so yeah. Hope you guys had your yearly free candy, because I sure did. All those leftover candies, hahahahaa! I'm gonna have a headache tomorrow.
So yeah, Phobia appeared, a villainess who can show people their worst fear, like Scarecrow, without the gas. And the Titans had to fight their worst fear, an appropriate chapter for Halloween.
