CHAPTER SIX- Through Their Union
He grew impatient and cursed the Death Eater into the air. "OUT WITH IT!" Voldemort commanded. Once Macnair came tumbling back to the ground he gathered himself and answered the Dark Lord.
"She said- "The son of the servant and the brightest of mud, together in vows will create new blood. The union of serpents, with the dark magic and fire will hold the future to the greatest desires."
The room was silent as the Voldemort absorbed the prophecy into his mind. No one dared to say the first word and all knew that something terrible was about to happen to them all.
Finally, Voldemort spoke and said, "Lucius, come here." Narcissa grasped onto her husband's leg as he rose. Slowly and cautiously the elder Malfoy walked to him.
"My lord?" Lucius Malfoy said trying to be as inoffensive as possible. "Would you consider yourself my servant?" Voldemort drawled out. Lucius began to sweat but answered the best he could.
"I am your servant in every way, my lord," he stammered, hoping his answer would please Lord Voldemort. A ghastly smile came across Voldemort's face.
"Now, Severus, come here," he commanded Snape. It was only when Snape heard the Dark Lord call him when he started to piece together what was about to happen. Snape's mind was a mess but did his greatest to remain collected and stood next to Lucius.
"You are the headmaster at Hogwarts. Tell me, who is the brightest witch out of all the young ladies in Slytherin House?" Voldemort said, still smiling. Without hesitation Snape replied, "Hermione Granger."
"And this Granger girl, she is muggle-born?" Voldemort asked. Snape nodded and felt sick. Voldemort would have known immediately if Snape had lied to him and the consequences would be severe. Voldemort waited for the first person to gather what his plan would be.
The first person besides Severus to put the puzzle together was Bellatrix Lestrange. "My lord! Draco is the last living male with Black blood! The witch Severus speaks of is a Mudblood, unworthy of my nephew!" Bellatix shouted.
After she spoke it hit Lucius and Narcissa, who let out a gasp. "He is my only son! My heir!" Lucius said, his heart filling with distress. Narcissa began to cry as silently as she could.
The Dark Lord began to grow angry at their protests and shouted, "Silence! Lucius, shut up your wife or I will do it for you! Severus, let us all hear your thoughts. You are being awfully quiet," Voldemort said.
Severus' heart began to swell at the thought of Hermione being Draco's bride. "I cannot deny that the brightest witch is the Granger girl and she is indeed Muggle-born. But I do not know for certain the son of a servant has to be Draco. It could be any of your servants, my lord," Snape said as logically as he could.
"Macnair, you are certain the words you repeated to us are the exact words of the seer?" Voldemort asked the still cowering man. "Yes, yes my lord. Without a doubt! I promise you," Macnair stammered.
"Leave. All of you. I must talk to Severus alone," Voldemort commanded. Lucius lead his crying wife out of the room, followed by an angered Bellatrix and scared Macnair. Once the room was empty, Voldemort turned to face Snape directly.
"Tell me what you derived from this prophecy, now." Voldemort ordered as Snape took a deep breath.
