Harry had no idea where Hermione was in all the confusion of the battle but he dearly hoped that she was still somewhere around; fighting like he knew she could.
He really couldn't bear to lose another one of his best friends today...
A new set of fighters charged through the gates; many of them Order of the Phoenix members.
Moody, Bill, Fleur, Charlie, Fred and George were in the front; followed by Percy, Molly, Arthur, Rosmerta and the man who ran the Hog's Head.
Kingsley charged past all of them and immediately found himself locked into a duel with Rabastan Lestrange...
Harry looked to the sky as he narrowly dodged yet another curse and saw Oliver Wood, Angelina Johnson, Cho Chang, Roger Davies, Dean Thomas and others he knew from his years at Hogwarts that were either good Quidditch players or just good fliers in general, fill the skies on their brooms, shooting spells from varying heights.
Out of nowhere, a large, hulk of a man barrelled into him, pinning him to the ground.
"Potter, Potter, Potter... It's good to meet you at last," he sneered down at him; showing uneven teeth of varying shades of yellow.
"I can't say the same of you..." Harry cringed- not from fear or pain, but from the man's putrid breath.
"You might know me. Perhaps your little friend Lupin may have mentioned me..."
It clicked in Harry's head just then, exactly who it was he was being pinned down by.
"Fenrir Greyback." Harry ground out, still struggling to throw him off but the werewolf's grip on him was firm.
If only he could just... reach... his... daggers...
"I don't think that the Dark Lord would grudge me... a small sample if I'm the one who brings you to him..." Greyback sneered.
Several things happened in rapid succession.
Harry managed to unsheathe a dagger and with great effort, stabbed it into Greyback's arm and pulled it out sharply, dripping blood into his face.
Greyback howled in pain and drew back to attack him again, but something else crashed into him, knocking him several feet away.
"Harry, are you all right?" a feminine voice he didn't quite recognise asked him.
"Eh... what?" Harry massaged his temple with one hand (still clutching the bloodied dagger tightly) while accepting the hand offered to him with the other.
He blinked and realised that it was Tonks speaking to him.
Looking around, Harry saw Lupin and Greyback wrestling ferociously, all thoughts of wands and magic apparently forgotten.
"You'd better keep moving. You're too much of an open target out here." Tonks squeezed him on the shoulder gave him a quick smile and ran after her husband and the humanoid monster he was currently wrestling with.
Harry ran as swiftly as he could towards the castle, making it inside the Entrance Hall just as a curse hit the doors, reducing them to ashes.
Down a corridor he saw Luna duelling a masked Death Eater, dodging everything that they threw at her with an air of nonchalant grace, Parvati duelling Travers and Ginny duelling an unmasked female he didn't know.
He raised his wand, ready to come to their aid, but they were moving around so quickly that he had a strong chance of hurting any on his side if he tried anything.
Peeves zoomed overhead; cackling madly as he dropped random, heavy looking objects onto the Death Eaters' heads sounding as if he was having the best time ever as he did.
On the top of the marble staircase, Professor Trelawney shrieked as she lobbied giant crystal spheres through the air with her wand, looking much more terrifying than Harry had ever seen her.
The sounds of glass shattering filled the air as the four hourglasses that recorded house points shattered, spilling multicoloured gems everywhere, making people slip and slide even as they ran and fought.
At the same moment, several gigantic Acromantulas forced their way through the destroyed doors, drawing screams of terror from Death Eaters and Hogwartians alike.
Harry sent a whip of flame from his wand, which, although it set a few of the Acromantulas ablaze, made them shudder and rear, looking even more terrifying than they had many years ago, when he and Ron had ventured into the Forbidden Forest.
Loud thuds followed each of Grawp's footsteps as Hagrid's younger brother chased the giant spiders, grabbing a few in each hand and throwing them all the way into the lake.
"Harry!" he heard a voice screaming his name.
He looked around to see Hermione just outside the doorway, being dragged off by an Acromantula.
"NO!"
Harry ran as fast as his legs would carry him; dodging over and around all obstacles as if he was an Olympian athlete.
The Acromantula moved quickly; much too quickly for Harry to catch up to unless he used a spell on himself...
He was just about to do so when a loud exclamation of: "Arania Exumai!" came from just behind him, twin jets of blue light soaring over his head and impacting the Acromantula, making it relinquish its hold on his best friend as it soared through the air.
Bolting forward, he managed to catch Hermione and turned to try and see who had caused the spider to release her.
Isaac and Andrina Springsteen stood there, their wands still raised.
"We got your message." Isaac spoke almost casually.
"It's a bloody good thing you did or I'd have likely lost another best friend today..." Harry finally put Hermione down.
"Thank you." Hermione nodded.
Andrina smiled wryly. "The battle's not over yet. Just try to survive until the end and that will be adequate thanks enough!"
The couple ran off, immediately jumping to defence of a few students who had found themselves surrounded by a group of Death Eaters.
"I bloody well plan to. I have way too many things I want to do for me to die today!" Hermione exclaimed.
A familiar sound roared over Harry's head and when he looked up, it was to see Lucas on his hoverbike, landing right next to them.
"I received your message." he pulled a gun from his waistband and shot at a few Acromantulas who dared to get too close. "The others will be here soon."
"Glad to see you here anyway. The more, the merrier." Harry pulled out both his swords, clenching one in each hand.
Hermione eyed them. "Perhaps I should take up sword fighting one day."
"Don't." Harry said simply as he flexed both swords to deflect a pair of stray curses. "Sword fighting doesn't really strike me as your sort of thing."
Hermione huffed, indignant.
The mid-morning sun, formerly pleasantly warm for a late spring (not that they really noticed), began to feel less and less warm as the air around them seemed to freeze.
Clouds seemed to form out of nowhere, blotting out the sun entirely.
"That cannot be rain now... can it?" Lucas wondered. "The change in the atmosphere is far too sudden..."
From the forest, black hooded figures floated and all three of them immediately began to feel cold inside...
"Dementors? I thought that they were-" Hermione's voice was cut from his hearing as Harry's worst memories began flashing through his mind.
Ron's dead body and the reactions of the Weasleys and Hermione to that news, Sirius' death, the events in Little Hangleton, among others, all jumbled together in no particular order...
Hermione's silvery otter burst into being and headed for the Dementors, but it fizzled out before it could have any effect.
A silver hare, boar and fox soared past Harry, Hermione and Lucas; Luna, Ernie and Seamus had arrived, their wands outstretched.
Several people now had their wands aimed at the Dementors now.
Cho, who had landed as soon as she saw the Dementors coming, conjured her swan, a tiger burst out of Parvati's wand, an owl and a beaver from Andrina and Isaac respectively...
Dozens of Patronuses rose up; pushing back the Dementors.
Harry thought of the fun times he had in Magix, the things he had accomplished since then, happy times spent with Roxy...
He finally managed to bring forth his own Patronus; the stag rushing forward to join the others in dispelling the foul creatures.
"What were those foul things?!"
Even with everything else going on around them and all that they had been through in the almost three years since he had known him, Harry had never seen Lucas look so rattled.
Harry really couldn't blame him.
"Those foul things were Dementors." Hermione breathed.
"I never wish to encounter such foul creatures again..." Lucas declared.
"No one in their right mind would..." Harry murmured.
Two Red Fountain aircraft (one significantly larger than the other) whooshed past them in the air and the smaller one fired several blasts at a particularly large giant who fell back into the Forbidden Forest, crushing several of the trees and making an extremely loud thud that shook the ground upon making impact with it.
Lucas looked at Harry.
"I am willing to bet ten Magix Dollars that Darian is flying that ship." he said.
Harry shook his head. "That's a fool's bet. No deal."
The smaller aircraft opened up and Aki flew out on his own hoverbike, followed by about a dozen other students.
The larger aircraft opened up and a smaller amount of students flew out on their own hoverbikes.
"Hey guys!" Aki threw two small earpiece/microphone sets to Harry and Lucas. "Use 'em. It'll make like easier if you do."
Harry put on his and turned it on.
"We'll fight off the giants and help with your air cover. You guys down there do whatever else you can to help Harry down there." Darian's voice came through sounding more serious than anyone had ever heard it.
Several screams came from the direction of the castle as part of the Astronomy tower gave way under the weight of several curses and a giant who had punched it, just before being blasted away by one off the Red Fountain craft.
"We've got to-" Hermione's panic was cut off when another set of Death Eaters noticed them and attacked, drawing them back into the fight.
"Are you sure that you're okay, Camilla?" Zing asked in concern as she and the other pixies bonded to Roxy and her friends hung out with them at the resort on Andros.
"N... no..." Camilla quivered. "I can't help it... I can feel that Hermione is under great stress and in a lot of danger..."
"Probably off helping Harry with something again. I'm sure that she'll be fine!" Livy tried reassuring her.
"That just makes it worse!" Camilla wailed.
The other pixies looked at one another.
"True..." Cherie said after a while.
Roxy and the others came in just then, carrying some bags and laughing about something that had apparently happened while they were out.
"Did you see Anahita's face?" Rainer chuckled.
"Seeing as her face is identical to my own, I see it all the time." Athena chuckled. "But yes, her expression was priceless."
"What was even better was the look on that guy's face!" Krystal giggled like a maniac.
"He deserved it though. She's a young woman, like the rest of us. Not a damn piece of meat!" Roxy declared.
"When Athena stepped out though... you would have thought he never saw twins before..." Anahita rolled her eyes.
"Who knew that you could be so sava-" Roxy stopped suddenly when she noticed that the other pixies had gathered around an apparently jittery Camilla, who looked as if she was rather close to having a complete and utter emotional breakdown.
"What's wrong with her?" Krystal was the first to ask.
"Apparently, she's been having bad feelings about Hermione all day." Cherie explained flying over to sit on her bonded fairy's shoulder.
"It's been absolutely awful." Pam shook her head.
"How awful?" Athena motioned for her bonded pixie to come closer and Pam did so, sitting cross-legged atop the technology fairys's head.
"She's basically a nervous wreck, as you can see." Caramel rubbed Camilla's shoulders soothingly, in an effort to get her to calm down.
"She told me that she would be okay. I sure hope that she will be, but I just can't shake the feeelinggg..." Camilla moaned.
"I'm sure that they'll both be fine." Roxy moved over to the jittery pixie and hugged her. "Hermione and Harry are together and they work well together. Whatever it is that they're up to, they'll pull through it together. I know it."
She might have appeared confident on the outside, but on the inside, she too was a nervous wreck- she was just better at hiding it.
And this was without some sort of telepathic link with her boyfriend...
"Here, have some ice-cream." Rainer rummaged around in the bag she carried and handed a mini (though to a pixie, it was more of a giant) ice-cream cup to Camilla, before giving her own pixie- Caramel- her own.
Once everyone, fairy and pixie alike had been served, they began to talk again.
"Is there anything that we could do to make you feel better?" Anahita asked, side-eyeing Livy as she ate her ice-cream a bit too eagerly and ended up giving herself brain freeze.
"Make sure that Hermione is okay?" Camilla asked hopefully.
The fairies all looked at one another.
"Well..." Krystal looked thoughtful. "We all do have our Enchantix- except Roxy of course. We might be able to stand a good chance in a fight..."
"There's no damn way. I literally got my Enchantix yesterday!" Rainer objected vehemently. "That was the first and only time I transformed into it! I didn't even get to test out my Fairy Dust ability. There's no way that I'd know how to handle all that new power and the new wings yet!"
"Let's not forget that even if we do manage to find out precisely where Harry and Hermione are now, we could be putting ourselves right in the middle of an all-out battle where lethal spells are being thrown around!" Anahita pointed out.
"That is... a very good point." Krystal sighed.
"Not to mention that our parents would kill us all over again if this Voldemort character or his minions managed to kill us..." Anahita pointed out.
"What about the Winx Club? They managed to fight against the Army of Decay and Lord Darkar on his home turf and that was without their Enchantix powers..."
"As I've said before, they just got lucky." Rainer's tone was flat. "There's an old saying on Andros: "A mermaid's luck isn't a fairy's luck." In other words, what works for someone else isn't bound to work out for us. I'm not eager to test it!"
"Wow." Roxy raised an eyebrow. "Normally, you're the one who's all for jumping into things..."
Rainer looked her in the eyes. "Not when they involve the high probability of dying!"
Anahita nodded, firmly in agreement.
Camilla shrieked in horror. "Hermione is at Hogwarts and it's chaos all around her! I'm so scared for her! I don't want to lose her!"
The fairies all looked at her in pity, then at each other.
"If we go," Rainer started slowly. "and I die, I'm going to come back and haunt the soul out of you as ghost, Roxy..."
"I have no plans on dying in this fight." Anahita spoke flatly. "There are still far too many things out there that I have not done yet. So much knowledge to learn... However, if you went and I did not, it would never sit well with me."
"So..." Roxy looked around at them nervously. "Is that a yes or a no for a trip to Earth?"
"Reluctantly so, but yes." Anahita nodded.
Rainer simply shrugged.
They looked around at each other and transformed; four Enchantix fairies and one basic level fairy.
Zing, Livy, Cherie, Pam and Caramel flew over to their bonded fairies and hugged them tightly.
"Please be careful! I don't want to lose you!" Zing kissed Roxy on the cheek.
"I'll be fine. I'll come back alive. I promise you that, Zing." Roxy ruffled the pixie's hair playfully.
She and the other fairies gathered close together and after waving goodbye to the pixies, all disappeared.
The pixies came together for a group hug as they watched the fairies go off.
Harry had already lost track of where Darian, Aki and Lucas had gone off to in the course of the battle; having veered off to help in other ways.
The larger of the Red Fountain aircraft flew overhead and stopped to hover nearby.
The hatch opened up and with a loud roar, a familiar creature came flying out, batting aside a few Death Eaters with its large wings as it did.
"You actually brought Freida here?!" he asked incredulously.
"Why not? She seems to work well with you and Cordatorta did say yes..."
The voice that came through the earpiece nearly sent Harry into shock.
"Tony?!"
"Yeah. I ain't here for you and your friends, though. I'm here for the fighting."
The craft took off again as Harry scrambled over to the waiting dragon, which he found to be fully equipped for riding; saddle, harness and all.
"Well, you ready for this, girl?" he asked her as he hopped on.
With a snort, she took to the sky.
Soaring around, he guided the dragon to kick one giant into the lake, whereas another one was unfortunate enough to be roasted alive.
"That one's fine!" he indicated regarding Grawp, who was wrestling with yet another giant. "He's on our side!"
He dove through a crowd of Death Eaters, who let out various shocked exclamations on seeing him as they were toppled over.
"Is that Potter actually riding a dragon?!" he heard a few familiar voices behind the masks.
Harry would have laughed at their bewilderment if the situation hadn't been so dire.
He managed to Summon a few of their wands and tucked them away in a pouch, now completely empty of Spell Spheres.
A curse came hurtling at him and before he could guide Freida up and out of the way, a light green energy wall sprung up from the ground between himself and the attacker.
When he looked around to see who it was that had blocked the curse, his heart nearly went up into his throat.
"R... Roxy?" He sputtered. "But... but... what the bloody hell are you doing here?!"
"I said that I wouldn't let you fight alone and here I am!" Roxy lashed out with her Wolf Claw spell at the Death Eater who had attacked.
"I'm not alone! I'm with others who know how to fight!" Harry exclaimed, fighting off the strong urge to face-palm.
"So am I! I brought Rainer, Athena, Anahita and Krystal with me!" Roxy spoke stubbornly, flying up higher so that she was alongside Freida.
"And now that's three other sets of parents besides yours who would be lining up to kill me!" Harry groaned as he indeed spotted four distinctive sets of wings amongst the fighting. "Not to mention your aunt!"
Roxy was about to retort, when all of a sudden, the Death Eaters began to Disapparate and fly out of the Hogwarts grounds.
"Huh?" she raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
Several of those fighting for the Hogwarts side attempted to chase them, but all they seemed focused on was retreating.
"What..?" Harry paused in his chastisement of his girlfriend. "We can talk about this if we both survive this. Why are the Death Eaters retreating now?"
Only a few minutes later, he had his response as all a sudden, Voldemort's voice filled the air, speaking to everyone present.
"You have all fought well, but it shall be of no use. Even with all the help you are receiving, my forces still overpower yours."
Roxy shuddered as she heard Voldemort's voice for the first time.
"Potter, I know you are present. I shall give your side a respite of one hour. No more, no less. If at the end of that hour, you have not chosen to surrender yourself to me in the Forbidden Forest, you have chosen to let your allies continue to die for you. And this time, I shall enter the fight myself and no one in my path shall be spared. One hour, Potter."
The grounds became eerily silent after that announcement.
Roxy looked at her boyfriend.
"Don't even think-" she started, but Harry cut her off.
"No." he held up a hand to stop her. "You're not even supposed to be here, so you don't get to tell me what I should and shouldn't be doing right now. Let's just get back to the castle and see what's going on there."
Roxy scowled.
Even though she knew that he was right, she didn't care.
She had promised.
Flying in silence, she flew behind Harry and Freida as he landed the dragon just outside where the front doors used to be.
Behind them both, the two Red Fountain aircraft found clear spaces to land on the grass before the occupants hurried out to help the fighters still out on the grounds.
