Sarah was walking home when she felt as if someone was watching her. She turned around, but spotted nothing or no one who looked suspicious. Sarah continued on her way when hands covered her eyes
A voice sounded from behind her. The voice wrapped around her like music because she recognized the voice speaking. The words echoed around her, "Guess who?"
Sarah lifted the man's hands and turned to see the one man she didn't want to see, "Jesse?!"
"In the flesh." Jesse said with a sly smile.
"I thought we killed you." Sarah yelled through gritted teeth.
Before Jesse could retort, Sarah was ready to attack. She tore a fence post from the fence beside her and pointed it at Jessie. Her eyes went yellow and fangs extended as she kicked Jesse down the sidewalk. When his head hit the cement, she pinned him to the ground with the stake above his heart.
She began pushing down toward his chest as he grabbed onto it and tried to push it back the other way. It was an even match until Jesse's grip loosened and the stake tore his shirt. This moment of weakness made Sarah just a tad happier.
Sarah smiled. "You're weak."
"I just came back from the underworld, of course I'm weak. Do you think crawling out of your own grave is easy?" Jesse mocked with a shallow breath. "Being weak is better than being dead."
"Why did you come back?" Sarah asked, slightly cutting his chest with the stake.
Jesse looked from the stake and back to Sarah with a mocking smile. "Are you really going to use that?"
"If I have to, I will. You don't scare me anymore Jesse and I am not afraid to show you that." Sarah threatened
"I came back...I came back to finish something I should've done long ago." Jesse said, having enough strength to push Sarah off so he could stand up.
She rose up beside him as he wiped the dirt from his clothes. She crossed her arms with a look of contempt. "And what's that?"
"You'll see very soon. Meet me tomorrow night in the abandoned hall where we first met, you know the one. I'll be there at 9, so don't be late. Bring your best dress, I heard there's a party and you know I love to dance." Jesse explained
He gave one last smile before vanishing into the shadows. Sarah picked up her books and ran using her vampire speed all the way to Ethan's. They were in the backyard so she ran up to them, scaring the crap out of both Ethan and Benny. Ethan screamed like a little girl and Benny fell on his ass.
"I have to tell you something." Ethan and Sarah said at the exact same moment.
"You go first." Ethan said with a meek smile.
Sarah sighed and looked toward the both of them. "Jesse's back."
Ethan and Benny looked at one another with fear in their eyes. Sarah noticed their weird looks, but wanted them to say something before she did. Benny rose from the ground and swallowed the spit in his throat, taking a step forward. "You know?"
"Yeah, he stopped me on my way home. Told me to meet him at 9 in one of the halls at the school tomorrow night. How did you know?" Sarah asked, noticing the hole beneath their feet. "What did you do this time?
"Okay, promise you won't be mad." Ethan said, wringing his hands. She slightly nodded before Ethan blurted out what he was going to say. "We might have...accidentally set him free."
Sarah's eyes went wide as they turned yellow. She bared her fangs at the boys as she screamed. "What?!"
"Long story short we dug up the cubile animus to deal with the ghost you were possessed with. I hid it in Ethan's closet and when he touched it he had a vision of Jesse returning. We went into the yard to find footprints and then you arrived. By the way it was a complete accident and totally Ethan's fault." Benny rambled
"I didn't dig up the box and drop it. That was you." Ethan retorted, slamming his hand into Benny's chest. "So, don't go blaming me for something you did, Dorkwad."
Sarah knew Benny was about to continue and a nerd fight would ensue. She didn't have time to deal with their geeky fight and stood between them, hands stretched out toward their chests. They needed to come up with a plan.
"Fighting is not going to solve anything." Sarah said, looking between the two. "We need weapons and fast. Jesse is weak and that gives us the advantage. He thinks I am the only one coming, so you two will hide early and we will have the upperhand on him."
"We can take him out for good this time." Ethan said with a smile as Benny began to smile as well.
"You guys get the gear and I'll prepare. Tomorrow night we end this." Sarah said, vanishing into the shadows.
When Sarah was gone, Benny truly understood what that meant for tomorrow night. The dance was tomorrow night, which meant if they were fighting Jesse they would miss most of it. He whined toward where Sarah had been. "But what about the dance?!"
"We're going to kill the vampire that started all of this crap. We'll finally be free from this jerk. Don't you think that's more important than a dance?" Ethan said
Benny continued to whine. "But Della could be there..."
"Suck it up, Buttercup. We have a vampire to slay." Ethan said, yanking Benny into the house.
They defeated Jesse last time, killing him again would be a walk in the park. Besides, they had the upper hand with numbers and weapons to fill a truck. They were ready or so they thought...
