The next night Sarah, Ethan, and Benny meet in Ethan's room. Benny's making garlic bombs, Ethan's making wooden pencil bullets, and Sarah is just thinking. She has a bad feeling in her stomach that she just can't get rid of. She knew Jesse was weak, but something just made her feel uneasy. Luckily, Benny distracted her.

He set his holy water balloon on Ethan's bed and stood up to address the group, "Let's go over the plan. That way we don't have any surprises."

"Well, I am going to meet Jesse at around nine in one of the hallways while everyone's at the dance. You two are gonna get there early and hide so when he arrives you are a surprise. Benny hides in a locker and Ethan hides in the vent box." Sarah explained

"Why do I have to hide in the vent box?" Ethan complained

Benny laughed under his breath. "You're hiding in the vent box because you're the smallest. Also the weakest out of us three."

"I have a tanning bed lightsaber, don't test me." Ethan warned as they all started to laugh.

Sarah broke up this laughter. "When Jesse arrives, he probably won't be alone so our first goal is to take his friends out. He's weak coming back with little blood in his system so hopefully this won't be too difficult. I have this terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach and I just don't know why."

"Sarah, it's okay." Ethan empathized, placing his hand on her shoulder. "We can do this. We killed him last time. We can do it again."

"Get changed into your suits and I'll meet you downstairs." Sarah said, leaving the room.

Once gone, Ethan sat down on the bed with a look of worry. Benny noticed this sudden change and sat down beside him on the bed, "What's wrong, Ethan? Are you worried about fitting in the vent box because we can switch if you want."

"It's not that." Ethan sighed, twiddling his fingers. "Do you think Sarah would ever...go back to Jesse?"

"No way!" Benny exclaimed, noticing the look on Ethan's face. "Why do you ask?"

"Well, I had a vision. She was lost in a fog and then she was over a body with blood dripping from her lips. You don't think Sarah would ever turn, do you?" Ethan asked

"Dude, she's been fighting it for this long. Why would she change now? But you and I on the other hand, have to change into these." Benny reassured, holding up one normal looking suit and one that looked like it was from the eighties. It was blue and orange.

Once changed, Benny admired himself in the mirror. Ethan didn't agree with the suit as Benny looked like a clown, but Benny was an odd kid. Him actually liking the suit wasn't even a surprise. He thought it was stylish and in the end that was all that mattered.

Benny grabbed the duffle bag and the two headed downstairs. Halfway down, Sarah walked into the hall. Ethan's mouth fell wide open and Benny closed it for him.

She looked as beautiful as ever. Her dress laid across her body like it would on a Greece goddess. The beautiful shade of purple sparkled in the dim light of the hall and Ethan couldn't keep his eyes away from her. When she noticed his stare, he quickly looked away and the trio began for the door, only for Ethan's mom to butt in.

"Wait. You can't leave without a picture." Ethan's Mom said, grabbing her camera.

"Really, Mom?" Ethan whined

"Just humor me." Ethan's mom said as the group posed. Ethan looked at Benny and Benny looked at Ethan as they had the same thought. She had the camera up and as she pushed the button, Ethan and Benny jumped in front of Sarah.

His mom looked down at the photo and looked back up, "Guys, you completely covered Sarah. Let's take another one!"

"Gotta go, Mom."

Before she could say another word, the three were in the driveway. They got in Benny's Grandma's car and drove to the dance. Sarah was silent the whole ride, which Ethan only noticed. When they arrived, Benny went ahead and Ethan pulled Sarah aside. She didn't look like her confident self and he had to make sure she was okay.

"Do you still have that bad feeling?" Ethan asked

Sarah nodded with worry, "I do. I've never felt like this before. Ever since I became a fledgling, I have been fearless in any situation, but something about tonight scares me. I shouldn't be scared, but I am."

"Sarah, you are a vampire badass. Everything is going to be fine." Ethan reassured, placing his hands on her shoulders. Then a spark of pain shot through his body and everything washed away.

The vision from before replayed in his head. Sarah was lost in fog and then appeared with blood on her lips, standing over a body. Except this time the vision showed who the victim had been. When he was shot back into reality, he was on the ground with Sarah sitting beside him.

"Are you okay?" Sarah questioned with worry.

Ethan quickly got to his feet and faked the best smile he ever had, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a vision, that's all."

"What did you see?" Sarah asked

"I saw tonight's battle and we'll win. Now let's go get ready for the fight to come." Ethan lied as Sarah tried to smile.

He escorted Sarah inside, his heart racing a mile a minute. Once inside, she went to prepare as Ethan headed into the dance to find Benny. Ethan wanted to tell Sarah and Benny what he saw, but if he did, then they wouldn't feel confident in the fight with Jesse.

When he found Benny, he was sitting by the food table with a punch cup in hand. Which from the three empty cups beside it, hadn't been the first. Ethan pushed down his worry and pretended like everything was fine. Even though he knew it was far from it.

"What took you so long?" Benny asked mid chew

Ethan smirked and took a cookie, "I had to talk to Sarah and I see you got into the snacks and...drinks. Do you really think you should be drinking so much punch?"

"The key to fighting vampires is to hydrate. Dusk can teach you a lot, aside from the sparkling skin. That is so unrealistic." Benny explained, taking another swig of his punch.

"You watched Dusk?" Ethan asked, laughing under his breath.

Benny rolled his eyes. "When your friends are vampires and the people that are trying to kill you are vampires, watching movies like Dusk help. Once you get past the chick flick romance and awkward staring, it's actually quite good. Some of the moments are quite realistic when it comes to vampires."

Ethan continued to laugh as Benny's eyes went wide with joy. Ethan looked toward where Benny was looking and found the one person Benny never stopped adoring, Della. Which he clearly couldn't keep his eyes off of, "There's Della! Wow! Should I ask her to dance?"

"No. Sarah's gonna give us the signal any second. Then it's time to kick some butt." Ethan insisted

"Whose butt are you kicking?" Rory asked, coming up to them in a spacesuit.

"What are you wearing?" Ethan and Benny asked at the same time.

Rory was in a full space suit with a helmet and boots to match. He looked like he got it at some thrift shop. Neither Benny nor Ethan could comprehend how or why Rory thought that was a good idea. When the staring continued Rory responded to their question, "You said we're wearing suits."

"Not space suits, Rory." Benny said with an annoyed tone.

"You're just upset because you didn't think of it." Rory mocked, walking off toward the cookie table. Even though he was a vampire, cookies were a great way to numb the cravings.

Suddenly Ethan's phone goes off, "Oh! It's Sarah. Jesse's here."

"What?! No. What about Della?" Benny asked as Della was dancing on the other side of the gym. The girl of his dreams was right there, but he couldn't reach her.

"Forget it, man. Sarah needs us and Jesse needs to be taken down. Grab the bag and let's go. You can dance with Della later." Ethan insisted

"But before we go, I gotta go!" Benny whispered, doing the potty dance.

"Forget it! There's no time. Come on, let's go." Ethan said as he pulled Benny out of the gym. They got into their positions and watched as Jesse and Sarah entered the hall from opposite sides.

"I was worried you might not show." Jesse smiled

"Wouldn't miss it." Sarah retorted

"Jesse, come on! There's a smorgasbord of freshmen in there." Erica said, entering the hall. When she saw Sarah she stopped short, "Sarah, what are you doing here?"

"What we need to do. Do not try and stop us!" Sarah warned

Jesse raised a brow. "Who's us?"

"Same us that killed you last time." Ethan said as he and Benny got out of their hiding spots. Jesse's smile widened, which did not cause the same happiness in the others. Something felt off and not in a good way.

"Good. You got my invitation." Jesse smirked

"You knew I would bring them here?" Sarah questioned with worry lacing her words.

"Of course, and you're not the only one who brought friends."

Suddenly, two other vampires came into the hall. One approached Benny and the other approached Ethan. Both baring their fangs at the boys.

"Too weak to fight your own battles, huh? Lame!" Benny mocked as he incinerated one of Jesse's friends with a garlic bomb. While he did that, Ethan whipped a stake from his pocket and shoved into the other vampire's chest.

Jesse was surprised at how strong the boys had become, but Jesse had a backup plan. He looked at Erica and winked. Her eyes began to glow as she appeared behind Sarah. Once in position, she grabbed ahold of Sarah's arms and held them tight behind her back.

Ethan began to step toward them, but Erica hissed at him. Jesse smiled as he explained her actions. "Erica and I had a special chat earlier. Hold onto her, please."

"Yes, I'll hold onto her." Erica repeated in a monotone voice. Sarah tried to break free, but Erica's grip was like cement.

Sarah struggled against Erica as she was pulled from the hall. "Erica is in a trance. He's not as weak as we thought..."

Erica took Sarah into the other hall. Jesse now alone looked toward Benny and Ethan with a devilish grin. Ethan's and Benny's eyes met and they knew they had the advantage right now. Benny decided to try first.

"Kramatak, vamkar..." Benny chanted as Jesse suddenly appeared in front of him, grabbing the collar of Benny's shirt.

His face was mere inches from Benny's. "You've got something else to say?"

"I have to use the bathroom." Benny gasped

Jesse's smirk widened as he dragged Benny down the hall. Benny tried to break free, but he dropped his weapons when Jesse grabbed him. Jesse pulled Benny into the bathroom, throwing him into the hard tile wall. He hit the floor with a thud, losing all the breath he had

Once Benny was knocked out, Jesse left the bathroom to be confronted by Ethan. He snarled as Ethan pulled out his lightsaber. Ethan slammed into Jesse's throat and that made him furious. He screeched in pain, but stayed strong and stood his ground.

Jesse grabbed, burning his hand in the process, the lightsaber and threw it out of Ethan's hands as he grabbed Ethan by the collar. Jesse then dragged him into the nearest classroom and threw Ethan over some desks. Ethan got to his feet noticing a long skinny board near him. He picked it up, snapping it in half and throwing it at Jesse. The thing was Jesse moved too fast and the wood hit the floor as he appeared behind Ethan, "Wasn't part of your little plan, was it?"

"No, not really." Ethan said as Jesse grabbed Ethan with his cement grip and dragged him out of the room.

"Erica, listen to me. This isn't you. Jesse has you charmed, snap out of it." Sarah begged as Erica turned her around so they'd be face to face.

"Shut. Up." Erica hissed, grabbing Sarah by the throat while squeezing as hard as she could.

"I'm your friend. Look into my eyes, please!" Sarah pleaded as Erica got real close. Once she was close enough, Sarah headbutted Erica.

The sudden pain caused the trance to break. "Ow! What the heck? What's going on?"

After Sarah explained the situation, they headed back to find Jesse dragging Ethan down the hall. Ethan looked weak and that made Sarah's blood boil. Jesse wasn't going to hurt anyone else she cared about, not after damning her for eternity.

"Let him go!" Sarah yelled, causing Jesse to stop and look toward her.

"Why do you even care about this meat? In 500 years, you won't remember it's name. Come with me and be what you're meant to be. I'll even let him live if you just take my hand." Jesse offered, outreaching one of hands.

"Don't listen to him, Sarah!" Ethan pleaded as Jesse squeezed Ethan's arm tighter, causing him to gasp in pain.

"Get it through your tiny bat brain. If you hurt one of my friends, I will make you regret it. Even if it takes a thousand years. But I will never, never, be one of you." Sarah threatened

"We'll see." Jesse said, turning around to grab hold of Ethan's arm, pushing down his sleeve, as he sunk his fangs into Ethan's wrist.

"Gahhhhh! Gah. Gahhh!" Ethan screamed, trying to pull his arm out of Jesse's grasp. After Jesse had had enough, he dropped Ethan onto his back as the transformation began.

Ethan felt like his entire body was on fire. It was like nothing else he had ever felt. He couldn't think, he couldn't breathe, and he definitely couldn't speak, aside from screaming. It felt like his blood had been replaced with lava and the oxygen in his body was being burned up.

Just at that moment Benny woke up and ran to find everyone looking down. He looked where they were looking and found his best friend crumpled up in pain. Benny's eyes went wide while he yelled, "Ethan!"

"Will you save your humanity...or Ethan?" Jesse questioned, pausing for effect. "It's your choice. See you soon, very soon."

With one last smile Jesse disappeared, leaving Ethan to writhe in pain. Sarah decided she had to do the right thing. She got to her knees near him when Ethan backed away holding his wrist.

Ethan couldn't let his vision come true. Sarah had been over his body and if he could stop that, then he would. Even if he became a vampire in the process, "No. I will not allow you to damn yourself because of me."

"She's already damned." Erica said, looking down at Sarah.

"I can't let you do this." Ethan said as pain surged through his body. He could barely stay on his feet, but he had to for Sarah's sake. She didn't want to be a full vampire and he wasn't going to make her one. Not if he could help it.

"Ethan, stop. This is the only way to save you." Benny said, not understanding why Ethan was being so strange.

Ethan shook his head."I'm sorry." Said Ethan scrambling down the hall.

He backed away and scrambled down the hallway. Ethan made it to the end of the hall and down some steps, almost falling as his insides were burning. Ethan made it all the way to the front curb when Sarah caught him.

"I'm not going to let you do this. I care for you too much to let this happen to you." Ethan said, barely holding himself up.

"I have to." Sarah said, grabbing his wrist tightly.

"No." Ethan insisted, pulling his wrist away as he tried to stumble toward the road.

Sarah was getting sick of his feeble attempt to get away so she tackled him to the ground. She straddled him so he couldn't get away again. "Ethan, stop this."

"I will keep fighting until I am no longer human. I will die and even become the thing I fear to save you. I will never stop fighting for you." Ethan yelled, struggling weakly in her arms.

"I know, but I can't let you be cursed. I'm sorry..." Said

Sarah put his wrist to her mouth as she sank her teeth into his skin. His blood exploded in her mouth as she drained the venom from him. Sarah had never tried human blood before and it was the greatest thing she had ever had. Something about Ethan's blood was different than blood she's smelled, his was intoxicating. Luckily she controlled herself and moved away as he fell unconscious.

She noticed Benny and Erica running toward her so she licked her lips and picked Ethan up like a bride. Benny stopped right before her and looked from Ethan then back to Sarah. "Is he okay?"

"I got to him just in time. Get him home and try not to get into any more trouble." Sarah said, handing the heavy and unconscious Ethan to Benny who could barely hold him up.

Benny carried Ethan to his grandma's car as Erica whispered to Sarah, "How did he taste? Disgusting? Grotesque?"

"He was intoxicating." Sarah said, watching Benny drive off with Ethan in the passenger seat. Sarah felt awful for what she did, but if she hadn't Ethan would've become a vampire and she wouldn't be the cause another one of her friends was turned.

"Seriously?" Erica asked, completely surprised. That surprise turned into a devilish grin. "Now that you're a full vampire, let's go have some fun."
