Abasi looked at the man up at the terminal confused.
Her magical séances were telling her that the man was indeed Kaiba but that it wasn't him either. She wanted to agree with the later as he looked to dirty to be Kaiba. The Seto Kaiba she knew took care of himself and the guy up there looked to unwell for that to be him.
"Yugi you don't have a ghost of a chance beating Kaiba because this time he is a ghost." Kimo said as he laughed.
"A ghost?" Yami asked confused.
"Stop it Kimo." Mokuba snapped.
"It's a fact." Kimo said. "Two witnesses saw him fall to his doom."
Yami and the others were all surprised by this news, well Mokuba shouted at Kimo that he was lying about Kaiba being dead. Wanting to make sure that it wasn't some kind of trick Abasi called on an ability that came with having foresight, True sight. Using it would drain her a little but it had never failed to tell her if someone was telling the truth or not. Yami could séance her magic so he looked at her to see what she was doing. He saw that her eyes had a faint glow about them but it soon faded. Seeing that he was looking at her, Abasi frowned well she nodded.
Indicating that Kimo was telling that truth.
"Get over it. All that's left of your brother is your memories and a very cranky ghost out for revenge." Kimo said, but it couldn't be Kaiba up there. Abasi had meet two ghost since she had started her training when she was a child and never had they felt like this man did.
"It's not him." Yami snapped seeming to pick up on her doubt and confusion. Also he had to believe that Kaiba was alive if only for Mokuba's sake.
"Well he's seen better days but it's time to duel with the ghoul." Kimo said.
"Gee wright that line on your own or did Pegasus tell you to say that?" Abasi asked him.
"It's not him, that guys nothing but a fake. A trick by Pegasus. Don't worry Mokuba, I'll win your freedom then we'll find your brother." Yami said as he headed over to the terminal. On the way Abasi fell into step with him. "Is Kimo really telling the truth?"
"As far as he knows it is. That guy up there to my séances feels like Kaiba but not him. There's too much darkness that surrounds him. Sorry that it's not of much help but I figured that you needed to know." She said.
Yami was quiet for a moment as he thought over what she had said and an idea occurred to him. "If your séances are right I may have an understanding of who I am facing. Thank you Abasi."
She was a little confused but didn't say as much as she left him to join the others to watch and stay close at hand to help Mokuba. She knew that even if Yami won Kimo wouldn't give him up without a fight.
"Yugi, you look like you've seen a ghost." Fake Kaiba said.
"That's enough." Yami snapped.
"I am no longer of this world, and it's all because of you. I could have had it all but when you beat me you took more than just the match. You stole my life and destroyed my soul." Faker said.
"You're nothing but an imposter. So stop the lies and let's start the duel."
"Fine with me. This time you won't beat my cards." Faker said
"You might look like Kaiba but there's no way you can imitate his deck." Yami had a good point but the faker didn't seemed fazed.
"You mean my deck." That got a growl out of Yami.
"Beat him Yugi he's nothing but a fake." Mokuba said.
"Ya that ghost don't even look like Kaiba." Joey said in agreement. Of course the debate of whether or not the faker was a ghost or not came into question at that point. Abasi ignored the talk as she tried to figure out who it really was that Yami was dueling. She knew for sure that it was a set up by Pegasus when faker said that if he won Kaiba Corp was all Pegasus.
The wager was three stars, which meant that if Yami won he and Yugi would have six. The duel finally started and Faker went first as he summoned Hitotsu-me Giant. It had 1200 Atk and 1000 Def points which wasn't bad for a starting monster in fact it was the same monster that Kaiba used at the start of his last duel with Yugi/Yami.
"There's a card just like that in my brothers deck." Mokuba said as he looked up at the hologram of the familiar monster.
Joey turned to him. "Hey just because it the same card doesn't mean it's the same deck."
"Joey's right that is a common card. The real Kaiba's deck has some of the rarest cards that can be found in the game. I doubt the faker has half of them." Abashi said but she didn't believe her own words. An idea had started to form in her mind, if there had been witness to "Kaiba death" then maybe-
Yami thought that the faker was trying to throw him off by summoning that card but he was determined to not let that happen. He summoned Dard Magician onto the field. As its attack points were much higher than faker's giant his magician easily took it out and dropped his life points to 700.
Faker wasn't bothered by this. "You're as strong as ever Yugi." He said with a laugh. "It's funny how things have come full circle Yugi, what are you thinking in that feeble brain of you're right now? I bet I know, you've come to the conclusion that no matter what, there's no way you can win and you couldn't be more right. Even a simpleton like you now knows that I must be Seto Kaiba and once you except that fact, except defeat."
"I don't care who you are, you're going to lose to me just the same." Yami snapped at him.
"But Yugi, you barely beat me the last time we dueled and this time your big advantage is gone." That set off a whole new set of alarm bells in Abasi's mind. Does he know that the Exsodia cards are gone from his deck, and if so, how?
"What do you mean?" Yami asked.
"Exsodia. You've lost Exsodia."
Everyone was shocked. "How did he know?" Abasi demanded.
"You could only beat me with Exsodia in your deck and without it you can only lose." The faker said before he laughed.
"Are you here to play head games or Duel Monsters?" Yami asked him not letting the fake Kaiba knew Exsoida was gone get to him. "It's time for your move."
"And it's going to blow your mind. This next card is a blast from the past, with the emphasis on blast." Faker said before he flipped the card he had drawn to revile that it was a Blue-Eyes White Dragon. They all watched as he summoned it to the field.
"Only one deck has that card." Joey said.
"Then it's true what they say, could it be true?" Mokuba asked. Yami of course started to consider that maybe Kaiba was dead.
"Ha ha, looks like the advantage is mine. Don't worry Yugi, my feelings weren't hurt when you called me a liar. Now admit that you were wrong. Not having a real body isn't so bad, you would not believe what I save in food bills alone. But I still get to enjoy the finer things in life, like revenge and I'm going to enjoy its sweet taste for a long time." The faker said.
"Shut up!" Mokuba snapped in desperation as his eyes filled with tears. "Please someone make him go away."
Abasi looked at Mokuba when she heard him before looking back at the faker, focusing as hard as she could. "Huh? Almost breaks my heart, if I had one." Faker said. It was in that moment she saw him for what he really was and she nearly broke out laughing when she did. She could see that Yami was too angry to think. She knew that she had to find a way to tell him she had figured the faker out and get Yami to focus.
Faker was laughing again. "I won't attack just yet, why rush to victory when I can draw it out as long as possible instead." "He then put a card face down and ended his turn.
Yami put his Dark Magician in defense mode and summoned his curse of dragon, also in defense. It was too bad that the Faker thought of that as he reviled his face down was Stop Defense, which meant all of the monsters on the field in defensive positions were now forced into attack mode. He then easily took out Yami's curse of dragon dropping his life points to 1000.
Yami was trying to think of a way to beat him when Kimo spoke up. "Yugi, you got to admit for a stiff this Kaiba sure got game."
"That's not my brother, there's just no way." Mokuba said. "Yugi you know that's not him. Everyone thinks he's a bad guy but I know my brother and he's not mean like this. He's my best friend that thing not him. Ya just got to believe me."
That was all the opening she needed.
"That may be true Mokuba." Everyone turned and looked at Abasi in shock as she said this. "But it could also be him or a part of him that drives him to get revenge against Yugi."
She was looking directly at Yami as she said this but he didn't get what she was trying to tell him as he used his Magical hats to hide his Dark Magician. The faker was fazed by this for a moment but he quickly got over it.
"Are you so desperate that you have your Dark Magician doing simple hat tricks?" he asked.
"Abasi what did you mean by it could be a part of Kaiba?" Tristan asked her but she didn't hear him as she tried to think of another way to tell Yami.
"It's not a trick and it's not so simple. Your move but you better think twice before you choice." Yami said as he grinned. "Just do the math. 4 hats, only 25% chance that you'll find the Dark Magician. The real question is what else is hiding beneath those hats."
"Way to go Yug. Hay now that's what I like to call pulling one out of her hat." Joey said, happy that his best friend had put one the Faker but Abasi wasn't so happy. Yami needed to realize who he was facing.
"Alright." Mokuba said also happy.
Faker was still unfazed. "Humm, so predictable. I know where the Dark Magician hides."
"If you're so sure, then move." Yami said
"It's a shame that this duel id going to end so soon. White Lighting!" Faker shouted. His Blue-Eyes moved to attack the far left hat- and in doing so missed the Dark Magician. "No that hat was empty."
"Well done Yugi." Abasi said with a smile.
"All right this could work." Joy said.
"Yugi will beet that faker." Mokuba said happy as the rest of them at the turn that the duel had taken.
"Your guess was wrong. Guess wrong again and it will cost you." Yami said as he put a card face down on the field. Abasi could see that the faker didn't like this as he stared at the three remaining hats. "There are still three magical hats left and one of them holds a special surprise just for you. If you destroy the hat that hides my Dark Magician you'll win the duel. Choose the empty one and it's my turn again, but I'm betting that you'll pick the hat that conceals the trap card I just put into play."
"A trap card!"
"Now which hat will it be?" Yami asked as he gave the faker a hard look trying to intimidate him well seeing if he could figure out who he truly was. Abasi was still trying to think of a way to let Yami know what she had figured out when an idea hit her. Making sure that everyone was focused on the duel and when she was sure she started to speak a spell as quietly as she could.
"You're taking a big gamble Yugi." Joey said.
"If he guesses right it's over." Tristan added.
The Faker studied the three hats closely, trying to decide on which one he was holding his pray. "Blue-eyes White Dragon, attack the middle hat." He finally decided. Unfortunately he chose wrong again, reviling Yami's trap, Spell Binding Circle.
"A Blue-eyes White Dragon is usually unstoppable but once drained of its energy by the Spell Binding circle it's no match for the full power of my Dark Magician." Yami's Magician came out of the left hat and destroyed Blue eyes. "And that put an end to your Blue-eyes White Dragon."
This dropped Faker's life points to 500. He glared at Yami well he growled under his breath.
"Way to go Yugi!" Mokuba cheered which made Kimo growl as he grabbed hold of him again. It was then that the faker summoned another Blue-eyes and took out Yami's Magician, also dropping his life points to 500. Yami glared at him but then he heard Abasi's voice in his ear.
("Don't let him get to you Yami, you still have a chance.") She sounded like she was right next to him but when he looked down at her, she was standing next to their friends. Her eyes were glowing gold well looking directly at him. ("It's a connection spell, I'm using it because I finally figured out who he is.")
Yami listened to her well the faker laughed at what he had just done. "And that puts an end to your Dark Magician. There are only three Blue-eyes White Dragon cards in the world and there all in my deck. Your grandpa had the four but I ripped it up, but how could I possibly know that if I am not Seto Kiaba? You know I couldn't believe it when you beet all three of my Blue eyes white Dragons with Exsodia but now without that monster in your deck there's absolutely no way that you can win. Your move."
"Everyone heard about your duel against Seto, that's how loser knows about it. That's not my brother Yugi." Mokuba said. "I'm sure."
("You know the truth now, so why not tell everyone and catch him off guard.") Abasi said in his ear.
"I'm biding my time. I'll revile his true identity when the time is right." He muttered so only she would hear. To everyone else it looked like he was frustrated which was what he wanted the faker to see.
"This duel id over Yugi. I'm sure we'll be hearing the fat lady sing right after your turn. I still have Defense Paralysis active so whatever monster you pick won't be able to defend itself."
Yami drew then placed his Feral Imp on the field and ended his turn.
"It's time Blue-eyes White Dragon. Attack!" but it didn't. Instead white beams of light started to shoot out of it well the hologram fluctuated. "What are you waiting for? Attack!"
It was then Yami and the faker both saw that Blue-eyes power level was falling. "What's going on?" the faker asked well the Hologram actually started to look like it was melting, surprising all of them. Even though its matrix was collapsing it finally went to attack. They all started to think it was over but then out of nowhere Abasi felt a presence hit the filed well a familiar voice reached Yami's ears. Since Yami was connected to Abasi by her spell she also heard it.
"Yugi!"
"Kiaba?" he asked confused well the eye of Wjat on his forehead for a moment. The attack was stopped which saved Yugi's Feral Imp and the Blue-eyes vanished from the field.
"This can't be?" The faker said in disbelief.
The others all stared in surprise well Abasi tried to make since of what had actually happened.
Kimo on the other had was not happy. "It's a trick."
It was then the faker lost it. "Why, why me?" he shouted as he held his head in confusion.
"Why? Because Kaiba is still alive. He stopped you." Yami said.
"Silence I am Kaiba!"
("Now?") Abasi asked.
Yami gave a slit nod that only she noticed before he spoke. "Enough your charade is over."
"My brother is alive!" Mokuba shouted happily which made Abasi smile well she released the spell.
"What's going on?" Tea asked.
"Isn't obvious Tea?" Abasi asked her.
"It's like Yugi said. Last time Yugi dueled my brother he showed Seto the heart of the cards. This faker may have taken his deck but the real Seto Kaiba is alive and well." Mokuba said.
"Imposter!" Yami snapped. "The real Seto Kaiba destroyed that monster. I know because I séance him calling out to me when it happened. Now enough of your lies we know you're not Kaiba. Its time you show us who you really are."
"I already told you, I am Kaiba or at least I'm part of him. The darkest part." The faker was changing shape until he was an ugly fat man with really bad hair. "I can see you don't recognize me Yugi I wasn't lying when I told you that I was Seto Kaiba. The evil part of him that you sent to the shadow realm after our last duel. Now I'm back thank to Pegasus.
"You not a part of my brother anymore." Mokuba said.
"Ewe, its hideous." Tea said in disgust.
"No kidding." Abasi said. When I figured out that it was the dark piece of Kaiba I did not imagine that it would look that ugly. She thought to herself.
"I always thought that this duel might turn ugly but I never thought that ugly." Joey said getting a laugh out of Abasi.
"I guess I don't know what to call you. I was thinking about monster but I didn't want to insult the cards. It's your move. You've got a whole deck to go through and only one Blues-eyes White Dragon left." Yami said.
The faker was grinning for some reason as he drew his next card, making Abasi uneasy. "Grappler in defiance mode." He said with a laugh.
With the Defense Paralysis still on the filed Yami couldn't defended as he placed one card face down before summoning his Celtic Guardian. His guardian easily took out Grappler but it was clear to all of them that the faker was buying time to draw out his last Blue-eyes as he summoned Mystic Horsemen in defense and one card face down as well. Yami was wondering of course if it was a trap or spell card that he put down. He didn't worry about it too much as he summoned the Mystical Elf with the spell card book of spell to raise its attack and defensive point by 300. Putting it at 1100/2300. Yami then end his turn.
"Patience Yugi for soon it will all be over." The faker said this like he had the duel in the bag but Abasi knew from personal experience in tournaments that thinking that way always ended up costing you the duel.
"I'm finding it hard to believe but I'm liking the look on that guys face even less than I did before." Joey said.
"Whip that smile off his face Yugi!" Tea and Abasi cheered.
"Loser!" Mokuba snapped. "Make your move."
The faker was laughing again. "As you wish." He then drew his next card. "Ah, prepare for the Blue-eyes White Dragon."
"No way! This guy's luck of the draw is almost as good as Joey's" Abasi said in shock.
"Don't worry Yugi my brother will help out like last time." Mokuba said but that hope was squashed by what Kimo said next.
"Dream on, your luck is about to run out. Just see for yourself. Unlike the last Blue-eyes this ones at full power and your brother is in no position to do a thing about it. Cause we found where his hiding place is and now he's on the run."
"So that means Kaiba is alive?" Tristan asked
"Dimwit, it means don't expect another miracle cause this duel is about to end." Kimo said with a laugh.
Mokuba was looking a bit scared. "There's no need to worry Mokuba because Yugi can beat him." Abasi said as she didn't take her eyes off the field.
"How can he? He's facing off against the last Blue-eyes White Dragon and he had a hard enough time beating the other two even with Kaiba's help." Joey pointed out.
"Joey it you remember Yugi handled the first one just fine on his own. Kaiba only helped with one. I know Yugi has something that will do it, just watch." She said with a smile.
The faker attacked and just as Abasi had predicted Yami reviled his face down card to be Mirror force, which bounced the attack right back that the dragon destroying it. Or would have if the faker didn't counter it with Negate Attack saving it. The others were still thinking that Yami was finished but he chuckled as he help up a spell card.
"It's time to finish this duel. With Monster Reborn."
"Oh no! That allows you revive any monster lost in this duel from either deck." The faker said horrified.
"I'm glad that you know the rules. Now guess which one card I want." Yami said with a smirk before the monster formed on the field. "Be reborn Blue-eyes White Dragon!"
The faker was fazed for a moment but then he realized something and smirked. "Fat lot of good that move is going to do you Yugi. Both of these monsters are evenly matched."
"Their powers are not the same. You forgot about my Mystical Elf. She's been chanting a spell since I put her on the field. It allows the Mystical Elf to transfer her own attack power to any other monster I chose."
"What this can't be!"
"This move was inspired by Seto Kiaba himself. He showed me that you can alter the attack points of a Blue-eyes White Dragon. But I'm raising the power of mine instead of lowering it like Kaiba did to yours." Yami explained.
"This can't be happening. Oh no, NO!" the faker knew that it was all over.
"Consider this a message from the real Seto Kaiba. You lose!" With that Yami attacked and ended the duel with a blast of White Lighting. Yami then sent the faker back to the shadow realm where he belonged. Well he did that Abasi turned to get Mokuba away from Kimo to see the big lug caring the boy away into the forest.
"Oh no you don't" she growled running off after them. She caught up before they had gotten too far into the forest. "Hey! Keep your end of the deal and let Mokuba go."
Kimo turned to her in surprise but when he saw that it was only her, he smiled. "And what are you going to do about it? Stop me all by yourself? I don't think so." He said before he charged at her. She tried to avoid him well chanting a binding spell but she wasn't fast enough as she was drained from the connection spell, the use of rue Sight and visions she had had earlier on. He punched her in the face with enough force to knock her into a tree. She ended up getting the wind knocked out of her and hitting her head as she fell to the ground. Abasi watched as Kimo smirked at her before he turned and left. After that everything went dark.
Yami was just collecting Kaiba's deck and the star chip he had won when Joey broke the silence that had fallen over them. "That ghost is toast. Right Yugi?"
"I knew that the real Kaiba was alive the whole time." Tristan said with confidence.
It was then that Tea noticed a few key people were missing. "Hey that creep took Mokuba and Abasi is gone too."
They all looked around and realized that she was right. So they spread out to look for any signs of their friend and Kimo. It was Yami who found Abasi on the ground out cold. He ran to her side and picked her up. Already nasty bruises was forming around her eye. "Abasi, wake up." He said as he gently shook her.
She groaned before her eyes popped open. "Yami, I tried to stop him but I was too drained from visions and using my magic too much. I'm sorry." She muttered.
"You don't need to apologies. You did what you could." He said as he helped her to her feet and led her over to the others. She then told them what had happened.
"I can't believe it. Why didn't you get use to fallow you? We could have helped." Tristan asked frustrated.
"I didn't have time to as Kimo was almost out of sight when I spotted him. I'm also not use to back up." Abasi snapped back at him. She wasn't happy about how things had turned out either but there was nothing she could do about it now.
"Hey she tried man." Joey said also looking bummed about losing the kid.
Abasi was quiet well Yami let Yugi have control back as they walked away but before he did he could see that she was still sad about losing Mokuba. But there was also something else about the sadness that seemed to run deeper than just Mokuba capture.
