A/N- I would like to say two things. If you don't care I will not be offended in the slightest if you skip over it and go right to Chapter 61.
1. There are only two chapters left!
2. I would like to talk about my long absence.
Sometimes life is rough and drains you of not only of all creativity, but all good feelings too. If you ever feel sad, alone, or lost, know that someone out in this beautiful world someone loves you and is thinking about you. That someone is even me! I might live on the other side of the world or not speak your language, but I care and I hope this gives comfort to anyone in need.
Enough of the mushy gushy stuff and onto the story! Thank you for reading :)
CHAPTER SIXTY ONE- We Meet at Last
"He does not! He is lying, I swear to you! He doesn't have her!" Malfoy said taking Hermione's hands in his. "Think with that brilliant head of yours!" Malfoy instructed. Hermione couldn't focus on what he was saying- panic took over her whole body.
"IF he had her he would use her. He would get what he wants most! He would not warn us or taunt us. My mother did not fail… I just know it," he said trying to reason with her. "And the Weasley?" Hermione asked as she started to see what he meant.
"It is possible he has one of them… He is trying to lure Potter to him. Us as well…" They sat together while regaining their composure. Hermione could see the logic in what Malfoy had said but she could not help being frightened. "But what if he has-" Hermione began to say before Malfoy put his hand over her mouth.
Outside the cupboard it sounded like troops marching into battle. Both sat completely still until they heard McGonagall yell, "DEFEND YOUR SCHOOL!" The Slytherins stormed out of the closet to see statues of all shapes and sizes marching towards a battle.
Confused, but very impressed, Hermione and Malfoy stood watching them. "Don't you two have someplace to be?" McGonagall said in a huff while following the statues outside. The Malfoys made a dash past the statues and up the stairs.
They were in the clear until the fourth floor where they found themselves in another fight. Witches and wizards unknown to Hermione and Malfoy were being out numbered by Death Eaters. Immediately the Death Eaters attention turned to them. They were aiming to kill. Hermione lashed every spell she could back at them while Malfoy did the same. Out of the corner of her eye Hermione saw a witch who was only a few years older than her fall to the ground, followed by a maniacal laughter.
"Nephew!" Beamed Bellatrix Lestrange. "Come to see your half-breed?" Bellatrix said while still trying to cut down the other wizards. Malfoy had clearly been taken by surprise. "Also, where has your mummy gone?" Gloated Bellatrix.
Malfoy focused all his energy on his kin. "Do not make me kill you, Auntie B," he threatened. This made her laugh even harder. Hermione was still firing spells but was distracted. Come to see your half-breed? The words replayed in Hermione's head… She couldn't possibly have her.
"Kill me? No Drakey, I think I will kill her first!" Bellatrix aimed the killing curse right at Hermione. She blocked it without a second to spare and cursed Bellatrix right back… She never thought she would see that green, deadly light come from her own wand.
Bellatrix was almost as shocked as Hermione was. Malfoy tried to be good on his threat and tried to kill his aunt in retaliation and anger. "You'll have to try harder than that," she teased. Everything was moving too quickly for Hermione. Another wizard fell to the ground, green lights were everywhere, and Draco was trying to kill his aunt as hard as she was trying to kill him.
A bright red streamed through the air. What spell is that? Hermione asked herself until she saw that it was a stream of blood… Draco's blood. Someone had slashed his back open while he was dueling. He collapsed to the ground in pain. "Time to go, Draco. He will want to kill you himself," Bellatrix said as she motioned for two large men to pick him up.
Hermione tried yet again to kill her, with no luck. She walked over to her nephew and placed her wand above his heart. "You'll come too. Or I will kill him now," she said with a voice Hermione knew wasn't joking.
Hermione dropped her wand. Bellatrix gave a satisfactory smile and began to march them down the Hogwarts stairs and into the forbidden forest. Even though it couldn't be past noon, the farther they walked into the forest, the darker it became until it felt like there was no sun at all. Hermione kept her eyes on Malfoy who was losing consciousness as well as blood. Confidently Bellatrix walked into a flattened area of underbrush and threw Hermione to the ground as the Death Eaters holding Malfoy up dropped him as well.
She could hear a delighted laughter that was the single most chilling sound Hermione had ever heard. "Mrs. Malfoy, we meet at last," said Lord Voldemort.
