Okay so the first chapter was supposed to be Agencyshipping but once again Mangaquestshipping just crept up on me and I find myself writing them. So here it is.
Crystal hummed to herself as she walked back towards the her home, a large bird tied to her belt. She cleaned her knife with her shirt as she walked. She was a huntress, well known for her deadly accuracy when throwing knives. Though she does perform on the street for entertainment. She found an odd flower in her hat the other day but when she would've thrown it away, her sister had woven it into her belt among her knives.
Crystal stopped when she noticed a shadow in front of her home. The creature moved and her heart stopped when she realized that it was a wolf. She quickly drew a throwing knife ready to kill the creature but stopped when the creature came happily toward her. She stopped when she recognized the creatures tawny eyes. She crouched down in front of him and ruffled the wolf's fur.
"Where have you been Gold?" She cooed to the creature with the name she gave him based on his tawny eyes. It had been a year since she saw the wolf and thought that the wolf had returned to its pack. She had been lonely without the wolf for company though. She walked into the house and wasn't surprised when the wolf followed her.
Gold jumped onto the couch despite the glare Crystal gave him. He just waved his tail at her and she laughed softly. Gold had missed that laugh during her imprisonment. He watched Crystal intently as she gracefully moved around the kitchen. It seemed that not much had changed since he left and he was glad for the familiar setting.
Crystal had dark blue hair tied into two pony tails that fell over her shoulders. Her light blue eyes sparkled as she told him about what happened while he was gone. She had a grace about her that drew him to her.
"So where have you been?" Crystal asked though she knew the wolf wouldn't reply. It was just her habit to speak to the creature.
Gold wanted to reply but didn't. He knew that if he did talk, she would likely kill him. Though there was something that kept him near her. He could still remember the first time they met. It had been when he first came of age and began changing as werewolves do. Fearing himself, he ran from his home but found himself trouble in little time. He came upon some territorial werewolves and would've been killed easily since he was out numbered. Crystal came by his almost dead form and healed what she thought was a wolf.
She brought him back to her home and healed him. Even after he had learned how to control his transformation, he stayed a wolf around her afraid of her reaction if she found out he was a werewolf. His ears twitched when she placed a bowl of of food in front of him.
She laughed when he greedily ate it. He had the appetite of an army. She sat at the table with Gold at her feet. The wolf nudged her with its nose and she relented to giving the creature a scratch behind its ear.
"I wonder what you would say if you could talk," she spoke to herself.
I would tell you that you're beautiful, Gold thought to himself but didn't dare speak the thought. He stayed at her side for the rest of the day oddly content to enjoy the peace. Crystal found the behavior peculiar since the wolf was usually very active.
She looked out the window and saw that the sun was setting. It didn't settle well that her sister had not returned yet. She stood from the table and the wolf must've sensed her nervousness for he nudged her with his nose again.
"We should find Lyra before the sun sets fully."
Crystal collapsed on the bed. She had found Lyra at her usual place and it took all her strength to drag the woman home. Now Lyra was tucked into bed and the moon was fully in the sky. She lifted her head weakly to see Gold pull the covers over her with his mouth. The wolf jumped into the bed and settle himself beside her. She was too tired to kick the animal out of her bed so instead curled her body around the wolf. She could've sworn that she felt a mans lips press against her temple but thought it was only because she was so tired. With that thought in her head, she drifted off to sleep.
In the moonlight, Gold felt safe enough to transform back into his human form. He played with her hair but stopped at her star shaped earrings. She told him that her greatest dream was to have a star and he went off to find one for. He had heard that a local witch had captured a star and he went to steal it. That didn't go as planned and now he was a slave to Blue. He knew he should be looking for the flower that held his heart but he couldn't leave Crystal. She needed him living so near werewolf territory. He would look for the flower later.
He felt sleep descend over him and transformed back to a wolf so that she didn't wake up to see him in his human form. He scratched at his neck, suddenly feeling an itch there. It didn't go away so he opt to ignoring it and going to sleep.
Crystal's scream woke Gold and he jumped up ready for battle. It surprised him when he looked down and saw that he had hands. He was in his human form! When had he transform? It couldn't be in his sleep. He lifted a hand to his neck and felt a collar around his neck. The collar Blue used to suppress his wolf form. That damn witch!
Crystal kicked the strange man in the gut, sending him back against the wall. She drew several knives from beneath her pillow and threw them so that they pinned the man's shirt to the wall. She took out another knife and walked toward him with caution.
Where did he come from and why hasn't Gold warned her of the intruder? The man looked nervous and wouldn't look her in eye.
"What are you doing here?" She asked. "Who are you?"
Gold kept silent, trying to think of an answer. But what answer could he give her? He could easily transform into a wolf and escape but the would only scare her more.
"You're a delinquent!" She accused. That made Gold throw back his head and laugh. Of course she would say that.
"What do you think you are doing?"
He sighed and toyed with the collar around his neck as he tried to think of an answer. "I'm sorry but I'm not who you think I am. My name is Gold and we've known each other for years now. I'm the poor wolf you saved that day and I wanted to stay to protect you."
"You were the wolf?" Crystal asked breathless and didn't know how to react to that. He went into her kitchen to draw a glass of water for her but she didn't take it. Her shock turned to anger before she drew another knife and he fell back knowing how dangerous she could be.
"You were the wolf?" She screamed the accusation. "You pervert! How date you? This is the reason why I hunt creatures like you! You have no morals! Get out of my house!"
Gold knew that there was no argument and ran for the window. A knife almost took off his ear as he jumped out and back into the forest. He looked back though at her angered look and cursed himself.
Gold felt something shift in his chest and held a hand against it. Everyday that passed, he could feel his connection with his heart wain and he knew that eventually he would be nothing more than a shell by the end of the week. He sighed and poked the fire so it grew larger. He had already taken the collar off but couldn't bring it to himself to leave. He stayed in the forest close to Crystal's home. He knew that her house could easily be prayed upon and wanted to protect her as she did him.
His nose twitched when her scent came to him and he jumped to his feet as she burst into his camp. The worried look in her eyes sent something to his heart and he ran to her, catching her against his body. "What happened?"
"I can't find my sister!" She started and he knew her fear. He knew no one closer than the two sisters. "I searched everywhere but I can't find her! I already asked everyone I know and I thought with your nose you might be-"
"We'll find her," he assured her. "I need something with her scent."
Crystal nodded and took Lyra's hat from her bag. It didn't take long for him to catch her scent and held out a hand to her. She hesitated before taking it and he pulled her onto his back. She breathed in sharply when he transformed and bound into the town. It was dark and no one was out and about that night.
He stopped at the library and her heart stopped at the torn door. She was already of and into the building before Gold let her down. Gold placed a hand on her shoulder, "She's not here. C'mon, I can still smell her."
She nodded and climbed onto his back again once he turned into a wolf. He was off and she gripped his fur to keep herself from falling. His black fur was surprisingly soft and she had to shake the thought away.
"Where did you go?" She asked hating the silence around them. "You never left my side as a wolf and then nothing. I was worried the wolf got to you."
"Sad to think you thought more of me when you only knew half of me," he laughed. "I went to find you a star. I remember you told me that you wanted your very own star and I wanted to give you one. You deserved it. I heard of a witch that had a star so thought to steal it for you."
"Stealing isn't the best way to give me a gift," she rolled her eyes. "Wait, a witch? Are you crazy?"
"Maybe just a little." He laughed. "You deserved it and I could only escape a couple days ago."
"You escaped a witch?"
"Not exactly," Gold explained to her Blue's deal. "I have no idea where she hid my heart but I wanted to see you before going off to search for it. Must be in the stars somewhere."
"I hope you find it. I'm sorry for over reacting, I should've known that you were a werewolf this whole time. I could hear your thoughts. I thought I was going crazy with loneliness." She placed a hand over her heart. "Some of them was rather vulgar but they were also... sweet."
"That's not a word my mother would've used. She says I'm a rake." Gold laughed though he was confused about how she could read his thoughts without him allowing her to do so.
"You didn't mean to speak with me?" She asked more hesitantly.
"No," he replied honestly. "The trail ends here. It's as if she flew into the sky."
"That doesn't make any sense." Crystal slid to the ground and looked up to the stars. She bit her lips when she noticed a certain star growing brighter. Was it getting closer?
"Look out!" Gold pushed her to the ground before the light crashed into them. He took away her breath and it took a moment for her to regain her senses. She looked up to see a man she didn't know carrying her sister. She rushed to her but the man was already before her and placed her in Crystal's arm.
"Take care of her," he whispered before flying away.
"She'll be okay," Gold assured Crystal as she sat next to her sister. Crystal didn't say anything, only leaned her head against his shoulder.
"I'm just so worried," she felt him hold her tighter and whisper assuring words to into her hair. She closed her eyes until she felt something bloom between them and she looked down at the marigold placed in her belt that glowed brighter. With shaking hands he took the flower from her until the glow drifted into his palm.
"It's my heart," he said breathlessly before breaking into a smile. "You had my heart the entire time."
"Now that you have your heart, you'll be leaving?" She asked a little hesitantly.
He tightened his hold on her hands and raised then to his lips. "You have my heart. Where you go, I must follow."
I don't know if all of my readers can read this but I need to tell you guys why Muses is taking so long. My laptop broke (I'm on my iPod) and I do all of my serious writing on there but I should have it up by next week. Also since I don't want to go so long without a post and have you guys wondering, I made a tumblr that I will use to tell you if this happen in the future, my future project, and to interact with you more in the future.
