A/N: So. I wasn't planning on updating for two, possible three more weeks, but I feel that this is something that I should probably address sooner rather than later. Please read this, otherwise you may not understand why I'm starting to get pretty damn cranky with people.
I've been getting LOTS of messages like this:
Why don't you update more often?
Why can't you update more?
It's only 100 words, I don't see why you don't update this more frequently.
I'd like to keep reading this, but I won't if you can't figure out an updating schedule.
I can do this better than you and update everyday, so why can't you?
Did anybody notice a pattern there? Because I did.
I don't want to sound like Super Bitch and post a ranting Author's Note that does nothing but piss off all parties involved, but seriously? My inbox is cluttered with messages like these. And why is it only through PMs? It's why I've practically stopped responding to people! I haven't really responded to any reviews, thanked favoriters/followers, or replied to messages for nearly a month because I either can't find the messages in all the crap, or I just don't have the energy for it at the end of the day when I see nothing but complaints in my inbox.
So let's just get this out into the open as to WHY I DON'T UPDATE EVERY SINGLE DAY.
The Reasons:
1) If you want me to not pay my bills, (internet and power are required for me to write and post), and/or starve (a dead author won't get you updates either), then sure. I'll drop everything else I'm trying to get done and just write fanfictions all day. If you don't mind me trying to make a living, then I'm going to continue working. I even gave you all a heads up, so I don't understand why you're so baffled.
2) Do you like having a decent story that makes sense? No? Okay, I can stop taking time to plot out what I'm trying to do and just throw in a random mess of thoughts that is guaranteed to confuse you.
3) Guess what? Writing a full length story with meaningful and realistic situations and characters, using 100 word chapters IS NOT AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS. I have to put a lot of thought into how I'm going to write out something that should actually be SEVERAL THOUSAND WORDS LONG and then condense it into a measly 100 words that push the story along and isn't just a bunch of words thrown onto the screen.
I'm trying to give you all a top quality story. I really am. I know that lots of you are put off by the whole 100 word chapters, and I do understand and accept that.
But goddamn it, stop telling me that I should do this or that and that you can do it better. If you can, great. Good for you. I don't think I'm the world's best writer, so I don't doubt that a lot of you can make this better than I can, but this is my story and my idea, so you're just stuck with my apparently crappy writing style and my obviously-not-perfect updating schedule.
Don't like it? That's perfectly fine. Guess what? I'm not making you read squat.
And I'm sincerely sorry to those of you who give me nothing but love. I didn't want to waste your time by posting this stupidly-long Author's Note. I'll be trying to get back into the habit of thanking you and responding to you more often.
NOTE ABOUT THE CHAPTER:
Since the series never really goes much into Breakdown's personality, I'm taking part of G1 Breakdown's anxiety/paranoia and shoving it into the Prime version.
So sorry for the rant. Have a longer chapter as an apology. And please don't think that this marks the beginning of my daily update attempt. I wasn't even going to post anything until next month so yeeeah...
Beta: The awesome Everon Prime. Go check her out, because anybody who can deal with my bullshit daily deserves more attention.
Disclaimer: I still don't own nothing but my own dumb ideas.
Chapter 146: There's a Chapter In Here Somewhere...
Breakdown paced back and forth, staring intensely at the "base" that Knock Out had ordered him to spruce up. It was where their ship had landed; right smack dab into a mountain. The crash had actually wedged them nearly half a mile into the side of the mountain, creating a large cave that both himself and his partner could walk around in comfortably with plenty of room to spare. There was nothing but rock walls and a banged up ship inside, and that had been perfectly fine up until this point.
How was he supposed to spruce it up?! Who was their guest? Starscream? He fought to keep his anxiety down at the thought of it possibly being the ever-so-silent Soundwave, frantically looking around for anything that looked out of place. Maybe he was supposed to clean the ship? It was a bit scuffed and dirty from their landing...
The large mech rushed inside, searching for the cleaning utensils to get started on the massive job he had before him. When was Knock Out supposed to be arriving with their "guest"? What if they were already almost there?! He hadn't even started yet! He moved as quickly as he could, knocking over several things as he went, having every intention of going back to pick them up later. So much to do, so little time...
Breakdown froze in the process of reaching for cleaning solvents as a sudden thought hit him: what if the guest was Lord Megatron?! Should he locate Knock Out's stash of high grade? What if the Medic had meant to prepare the Med Bay for a wounded Overlord? Or maybe it was an Autobot prisoner and he was supposed to be preparing a makeshift brig. That would mean that he would have to check the security on the ship to make sure that the prisoners couldn't escape nor access their mainframe...
He swore loudly, wishing that their ship was equipped with some drones to help him out, but he dutifully attempted to do everything at once as he awaited his partner's return.
