UPDATE NOTE: I edited the previous chapter so that Jill and Chris aren't in the group now because I felt it was getting too crowded, so if you're wondering where they are in this chapter, there's the explanation. You'll see why I did it later.

CHAPTER NINETEEN
Rival Sons
"Alright, Trish." said Dante over the cell phone. "Got it. See you soon."
"So what's going on?" Felicia asked as Dante hung up.
"Trish found Saya. They're nearby. If we keep heading this way, we should be able to catch up to them."
Marth looked out over the horizon, his feet admittedly tired after he and his three comrades had very nearly given up searching for Saya, but relieved that they were finally getting somewhere. In fact, they may have just hit the jackpot when he looked at a set of approaching figures.
"Is that them out there?"
"Let me check…" said Dante as followed Marth's gaze. "Yep. That's Trish alright. That air of playful badassery doesn't lie."
"Badassery?"
"Yeah, that's a word."
"Since when?"
"Since now."
The four broke into a jog as they proceeded toward the steadily approaching group, Trish growing a smirk on her face once Dante came close enough.
"One crack about me being a damsel in distress and you wake up in a body bag."
"Honey, you can stick a sword straight through my chest and I'll get back up like nothing happened. A body bag ain't gonna do much."
"Good to hear. Little Miss Succubus wants to say hi."
Dante looked over her shoulder and grew a bright smile.
"Morrigan! How are ya, baby?"
Dante lost his breath for a second when his face was smothered in Morrigan's chest as she pulled him into a tight embrace.
"I was great, but now I'm absolutely wonderful…Trish, can't I please steal him for a little while?"
"What, you want me to let you have your way with him for ten minutes?"
"Five would be plenty."
Marth snickered at the absurd display until his eye caught Ike. He smiled.
"Ike of Crimea." he said. "It's an honour to meet you in person."
"Same to you, Prince Marth." Ike said in return. "If it would please you, could we perhaps test our mettle against each other one day?"
"Absolutely. Not now, though. It would seem that we have more important things to do than a bit of swordplay."
Morrigan looked at the Dante that had been travelling with her for the past few days, then at the Dante she was head-over-heels for, and the rest of her group knew that she was going to do the unthinkable.
"You're right, Marth. We have to get to the bit of swordplay between the two Dantes."
The chatter went eerily quiet as a space cleared for the two, the red-coated Dante looking at the black-coated one and raising an eyebrow.
"Hold on a second. THIS is my fake?" he sputtered. "He doesn't even look like me!"
"In hindsight, that's probably a good thing." the other Dante scoffed. "By 'hotter' and 'manlier', it seems Morrigan meant 'older'."
The two stepped toward each other with smirks on their faces, trying to size each other up. The older Dante was taller and more muscular than the younger, but the younger had more weapons at his disposal counting a very bad temper.
"Fake or not, he ain't a bad-looking guy by any stretch of the imagination." said the older (who we will now refer to as Dante Alpha). "Of course, looks don't mean a damn thing if you can't handle yourself in a scrap."
"I ain't a fake, old-timer." said the younger (who we will now refer to as Dante Omega).
"Alright, then. Pop quiz time."
"Sure. Lay it on me, gramps."
"Sword name?"
"Rebellion."
"Gun names?"
"Ebony and Ivory."
"Parents' names?"
"Father Sparda, mother Eva."
"Brother's name?"
"….Vergil."
"Did you forget for a second, fake?"
"No. I hate thinking about that son of a bitch. By the way, you're really starting to piss me off."
And the air became tense in response. Even Morrigan was starting to regret instigating the confrontation, but Dante Alpha either didn't seem to notice or didn't care.
"Parents' species?"
"Sparda was a demon, Eva was an angel."
"BAM! Wrong!"
Dante Omega shot him a look.
"'The hell are you talking about?"
"Eva wasn't an angel…unless you're being figurative, which yeah. I totally agree with that."
"Both figuratively and literally. She was as sweet as an angel because she was an angel."
"Sorry. Wrong."
"You callin' me a liar?"
"I didn't say that…but yeah, pretty much."
"Hey, you wanna piece of me, asshole?!"
"Whoa, hold on, kid! Chill out a second!"
"No, you know what? Thank you, Aensland. Thank you for leading me straight to this asswipe, 'cause now I can finally tear him a new one and shut you up about how 'hot' he is."
Kat stepped forward.
"Dante, cut it out! We don't have time for this!"
Dante Alpha held out his hand.
"Don't worry about it. If he wants a fight, I'll give him a fight…might wanna make some room folks. This is gonna get ugly."
The two started by staring each other down, possibly to make the other one try and back off. One was a hardened warrior, and the other was a very angry young man. Either of those descriptions would cause some form of intimidation in just about anyone. Neither moved away and both were just as ready to fight as the other, but the older knew that he was going to be nearly as aggressive as the younger.
Their swords phased into physical forms on their backs and the two steadily reached for them, keeping their eyes on each other for any signs of movement as the tension in the air grew to an almost unbearable peak.
Finally, they lunged forward, each with a loud battle cry as their blades collided with an earth-shattering force. They swung as hard as they could, the sounds of the clashes echoing through the air. One strike forced them several feet away from each other, only for them to zip forward again with Alpha just barely dodging a stab from Omega before slamming his fist into his forehead. Omega stumbled backward before rolling out of the way of a flurry of stabs, whipping out his twin guns and laying down on the triggers. The bullets flew like wildfire, but Alpha casually whipped out his blade and spun it about at so quickly that every single bullet was deflected.
Unfortunately, most of them went shooting very close to the group of bystanders. One particular flew a hair too close to Ness, but Mewtwo thankfully reached out with his mind quickly enough to stop it and drop it harmlessly onto the ground.
"It would seem we can't count on these two to keep their fight contained." the Pokémon sighed.
"Yeah, you're telling…me…"
Ness' sentence trailed off when he got a good look at Mewtwo. It wasn't that the Pokémon was repulsive-looking by any means, but because he looked eerily familiar. He wasn't sure why, but then he imagined Mewtwo inside of a giant bulbous tank…and then imagined a red swirling cloud of pure insanity and despair.
Ness promptly froze and didn't move, very tempted to cry out at the horrifying memory of the abomination he had just barely defeated. All Giygas had done was whisper to him and hit him with attacks that he couldn't even comprehend, but it was the manner in which he had done so that scarred Ness for life, and his image of Mewtwo was now ruined because of how closely he resembled Giygas' original form. He wasn't even sure of how he remembered something he'd never seen…except for the fact that someone who birthed him had.
"What's wrong?" Mewtwo asked.
"N-nothing."
Meanwhile, the battle of the two Dantes was still going on, just as brutal now as it had been when it had started. When one swung, it was either blocked or avoided by the other and followed by a heavy counterattack. Alpha performed a quick succession of slashes in a circular motion that he called the Death Coil, while Omega blocked all of the blows, flipped backward, and let fly with the Overdrive attack. Alpha rolled out of the way but still felt the tremors of the Overdrive's energy waves as they slipped past him, and they certainly didn't feel like they would be anything less than painful if they had hit.
"You got the power, kid." he called. "Now you just gotta practice actually landing hits."
"You know what you need to practice, grandpa?!" Omega hollered. "Not jumping around like a cowardly little flea and fighting like a real man!"
"But wait…weren't you doing the same thing a little while ago?"
"SHUT THE F*CK UP!"
Alpha made an uppercut that Omega blocked before morphing his sword into a large red axe and slamming it down with a force so violent that even the bystanders felt it. Of course, it failed to make contact with its target, who took the oppourtunity to land a strong punch to Omega's head. It seemed like the punch had only just made contact when Omega countered it with a kick to Alpha's stomach. Both blows knocked the two backwards, only for them to slash at one another again and lock their blades together, stuck in an attempt to push each other away with both seeming as strong as the other.
That is, until Alpha rolled backward and jumped high into the air, where a giant violet scythe appeared in his hands. He promptly hurled it head-on at Omega, who ahd barely enough time to swing Rebellion and send it shooting back at him. Alpha smirked and caught it before slamming back down to the ground where the scythe morphed into a…guitar?
"How about a little melody for you…well, mostly for the ladies over there. You ain't gonna like it."
"…what?"
Alpha's fingers on his left hand ran across the guitar's neck and pressed the frets as his right hand plucked the strings. What came out was loud and certainly beautiful-sounding music, getting Morrigan very near to swooning and Trish cracking a warm smile, but that wasn't what concerned Omega. What did were the bolts of electricity that shot out of the headstock every time Alpha hit a series of notes, these bolts forcing him to have…ahem…lightning fast reflexes to avoid.
"Okay, so you can play a tune on a guitar." Omega growled as he hopped, rolled, flipped, and cartwheeled out of the way. "What's that got to do with anything?"
"I ain't through yet."
He certainly wasn't, going from a beautiful and soft serenade to an Eddie Van Halen-style shredfest. He pointed the guitar up toward the sky, causing the bolts to come down like rain as they shot out several times a second. Omega couldn't catch a break, but still managed to avoid every single one until…
"ULTIMATE HEAVY METAL CLIMAX, BABY!"
He unleashed a heavy and pulse-pounding E chord, launching out a massive beam that slammed into Omega's chest and sent him flying backward onto the ground, but only Morrigan let out a cheer, quickly getting a dirty look from just about everyone there. Alpha put the guitar away and watched as Omega steadily got to his feet, his clothes tattered and his skin terribly charred but healing relatively quickly.
"Alright…so that's how you want it, huh?" he growled as his gauntlets appeared. "Knocking the 'emo douche' around like a rag doll is funny, huh? Well, guess what?"
Alpha made an attempt to block, but couldn't defend himself from being seized by the collar.
"TO HELL WITH YOU!" Omega hollered before throwing Alpha high into the air.
Alpha certainly made an attempt to fight back, slashing his sword to strike at Omega's arm, though only succeeding in having his blow deflected and ultimately found himself on the receiving end of a brutal punch. Then he was planted under the two gauntlets as he was thrust back down, plowed into the ground and buried under the dirt for a brief moment. Regaining his strength after the very painful blow, Alpha booted Omega off of him and gave a slight smirk.
"Oh, this just gets better and better."
He threw off his jacket and dashed forward again, right as Omega cursed himself for having to resort to his demonic power again. He let out that familiar terrible battle cry and shifted into the Devil Trigger, but this shockingly didn't slow down Alpha. Why? Simple: because Alpha had seen this coming and had adopted his own Devil Trigger form, his skin becoming black as charcoal, claws growing from his fingers, and wings sprouting from his back.
The two let out demonic roars before taking their fight to the air, shooting upward and diving at each other over and over again. Every blow that collided shook their bones violently, but neither one would let up even for a second.
"The real one was right." Morrigan chuckled. "This is getting even better."
"Are you serious?!" Saya half-shouted. "You're getting a kick out of watching those two tear each other apart?"
"Why not? The younger one's a jerk."
"Why in the world would you say that?"
Pit sighed.
"Because he hit her for saying something stupid after you and Lucas caught nabbed."
"…really? That's the reason she wants the other one to tear him apart?"
Morrigan rolled her eyes.
"By the blasted furnaces, is everyone here just a total prude?"
"No." replied Saya, her anger very quickly starting to swell up. "You're just a bitch."
"Oh, great. I guess everything's my fault again, huh?"
"Yes. As a matter of fact, it is. This whole ordeal is your fault."
"What's that supposed to mean?!"
Saya spun around to face the succubus, growing very close to shouting at the top of her lungs and completely distracting the onlookers from the battle between the two devil hunters.
"Get it through your head! The whole reason that Jedah's chasing after me is because he wants to use me for whatever reason to find a suitable replacement for you as the ruler of Makai! He wouldn't have to do that if you'd be more responsible and actually be a good ruler!"
"Saya, Jedah's not convinced that easily. He's a prejudging lowlife that holds himself in far higher regard than he should."
"Then why haven't you killed him yet?"
"Pardon me?"
"If you're just as strong as he is, why haven't you killed him yet? Get him out of your hair or something!"
"It's not that easy."
"Maybe not, but I guess doing your job isn't easy, either."
Morrigan gritted her teeth. She found it very hard to believe that she was getting angry about anyone calling her out, let alone a teenage human girl, but there it was. Saya was insulting her in probably the worst way possible: by calling her useless.
"Don't try and shove this whole thing on me, you little brat! Think about it! If Jedah's that vain, he'd want me out of the picture whether I'm responsible or not!"
"Then prove him wrong! Show him that you're better than he thinks! You know why you won't do that? Because you're exactly what he feared you would be! Maybe he's right to have you replaced!"
"Saya, that's enough!" Link said sternly as he stepped between the two. "Don't ever say anything like that! As bad as you think Morrigan is…and don't get me wrong, I totally agree with a lot of things you said."
"Nice, Link." Morrigan scoffed. "Very nice."
"Shut up. As bad as you think Morrigan is, there is no way in the world anyone would benefit from her being replaced. Morrigan is a nuisance to us at best. Ganondorf is the definition of dangerous."
Saya refused to look Link in the eye. It may have been selfish of her to think it, but he had no idea how it felt to be the one being chased, and she was very quick to make that thought noticed.
"You killed him. He can't be that dangerous."
"He is. When I say that I beat him, I mean that I barely managed to do it. If Jedah is bent on resurrecting Ganondorf, we need to do something to stop him before it gets out of hand. Jedah has no idea what he's getting into."
Morrigan smirked.
"Well, I may not have liked how you worded it, but thanks for coming to my defense. Saya's really gotta stop being so whiny all the time."
"It's warranted." Link shot back.
"Why's that?"
"You know damn well why."
"Ah. That little secret of hers. By the way, Saya, you can stop dodging the bullet. Everyone knows about it now."
The words hit Saya like a cinder block falling on top of her head. She was left utterly speechless, and the feeling only got worse with what Morrigan said upon the two making eye contact again.
"What? Don't look at me. Lucas is the one who forced it out."
"What?!" Saya sputtered, wheeling around to face her blonde-haired companion. "Lucas…you promised me that you'd wait for me to tell you myself!"
Lucas couldn't say anything, shocked and angered that Morrigan had hypocritically dodged the bullet herself and shifted the attention on him. He looked down at Amaterasu, who still said nothing and looked up at him like a dog normally would look at its master.
"Are you just gonna let this happen?!" Lucas seethed. "Say something, damn you!"
"Don't change the subject!" Saya whined. "You broke your promise! Why?!"
"I…I don't know, I just…"
"TELL ME!"
Lucas and everyone else within range of the shout flinched. He was going to answer, but then he caught sight of Morrigan. That bitch Morrigan who didn't have a care in the world. Only thinking about herself and her wants, not everyone else and their needs. It made him angry…no, furious. Someone needed to put her in her place, and he was the angriest one enough to do it.
"GODDAMN YOU!" he yelled, running forward and punching the succubus in the stomach.
All of the air in Morrigan's lungs was forced out and she crumpled to her knees, only for Lucas to hit her in the face and knock her to the ground where he jumped on top of her. Thus, he began to pummel her over and over again, shocking everyone with just how violent this passive little boy had become.
"YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST STAND THERE AND LAUGH ABOUT THIS WHILE EVERYONE SUFFERS BECAUSE OF YOU?! GO TO HELL! GO TO HELL AND DIE!"
"Lucas, stop!" Takamaru shouted as he and Ike rushed forward to pull him off. "We don't have time for this…wait, where's Saya?"
Saya had rushed forward into the chaos of the two devil hunters fighting, ignoring the fact that they had both summoned the power of their demon blood and were set to completely destroy each other. She had to stop them. She didn't know how she would do it, but she just couldn't stand to see the two fight anymore.
"Dante!" she cried. "Please stop!"
Neither listened. Neither made any indication that they knew Saya was there until she grabbed Omega's arm just as he was starting to swing at Alpha. The sudden touch startled him and he reflexively threw his hand backward, not aware of what he had just done until he heard Saya cry out in pain. His eyes widened and he turned around, seeing that he had not only physically harmed her, but had done so in a worse way than he had thought. The claw on his thumb had scratched her cheek, so there not only a red mark on it but a bleeding cut as well.
Even through his demonic visage, Saya could see a feeling of shock and regret. Sadly, Alpha hadn't seen that and chose that moment to stab Omega right through the chest, forcing a pained scream out of him.
"NO!" Saya cried. "STOP! YOU'LL KILL HIM!"
Alpha didn't listen. Not until Saya knew he wasn't going to do so and reacted in a way that nobody expected. She rushed forward with her fist drawn and spouting a strange red aura, and when she slammed her hand against Alpha's chest, it launched him at least thirty feet away. The Devil Trigger forms faded away and left the two Dantes as well as all the other onlookers to stare at Saya in shock. They knew that Saya could see the memories of others and was immortal…but what in the world was that?!
It seemed even Saya herself didn't know. She looked at them, all staring at her like she was an animal in the zoo. She couldn't take it…she didn't want to do this anymore. She didn't want to be near any of them. Not even Lucas.
"Don't follow me."
With that, she ran. She didn't know where she was running. She just wanted to get away. Leave them all behind and just go back to the orphanage. She felt so afraid and ashamed, but most of all, she felt sad. It felt like no one was there for her when she needed them the most, and all she could do was just run away.
Perhaps the best way to deal with the whole Jedah problem was to ignore it completely.
No one tried to stop her, though they were very tempted to. Omega stood up and stared at Alpha angrily before turning on his foot and walking away.
"Forget this. Screw this whole thing. I'm going home."
"Dante!" Kat called.
"No, Kat. This asshole can deal with Jedah himself. I'm done."
Kat stood motionless for a second, then uttered a single "Dammit…" before running after him. Meanwhile, Lucas stood and stared out at Saya.
"I can't believe this…I can't believe that I broke my promise to her…I ruined everything."
"Lucas…" said Amaterasu.
"Oh, so NOW you talk?! Forget it. I'm done with you. Take your mystic crap and just shove it up your canine butt, 'goddess'."
Lucas clenched his fists and took off running, going as fast as he could in an attempt to catch up with his retreating friend. Amaterasu, Lucas' harsh words ringing in her ears, slumped down onto the ground in defeat, her eyes starting to leak tears.
"…this is all my fault."
"No, Ammy." said Ness in a rather futile attempt to comfort the goddess. "Lucas…he's just mad, that's all. He just needs some time to think."
"No, Ness. I mean this really is my fault. The entire reason that Saya is suffering the way she is, the reason that she is immortal and is afflicted by the curse of Yami…it is because of me."
It seemed immortality didn't grant Saya infinite stamina, for she fell flat on her face after a mere five minutes of non-stop running. She had no strength to keep on going. Even if she was just stopping to rest for a minute or so, it genuinely felt like she wasn't going to be able to get up again.
"Why is everything so hard…I just want to have a normal life. Is that too much to ask?!"
"Saya!"
"…no way."
She was admittedly happy to hear Lucas' voice in this dire time of need as well as his hands on her as he tried to pull her to her feet, but the thought of him breaking his promise to her still lingered and she couldn't forgive him for it just yet. As soon as she was on her feet and stable, she pushed him away.
"You promised me that you would wait for me to tell you about my powers. Why did you lie to me?"
"Saya, I…"
"I don't need you feeling sorry for me, Lucas! If you want to be of any help to me, then just leave me alone! I don't want any part of this anymore!"
"What if they come after you?!"
"Then I'll fight them off! Yeah, I can't control my powers, but I'm immortal. What's there to worry about? Me dying? Apparently whatever deity that exists doesn't want me to be with my parents even in the afterlife, so who cares, right?! The hell with what I think!"
"That's not why I wanted to know!"
"Then why?!"
He didn't answer. Saya scoffed, seeing that there were tears in his eyes but choosing not to acknowledge them. She turned on her foot and began walking away from him, not caring to listen to anything he had to…
"Because I love you."
She stopped. What did he just say?!
She turned. What he had said was indeed genuine. There was no hint of regret in his face. He looked determined to say what he needed to say and didn't care how she reacted to it. She just needed to hear it.
"W-what?"
"The reason I want to know about you and protect you…is because I've been in love with you since the second Ness and I saved you from Juri at the train station. I need to know more about you because I want to be there for you when you feel sad and alone. I know what you've been through now…and I can't even pretend to feel what you're feeling even though I've been through just about the same thing."
"Why would you love me…why would you want to protect me after what you've seen?"
"Because no matter what you can do, you're still you. Saya…if Jedah ever achieved what he's set out to do…if you got hurt when I could have stopped it, I could never forgive myself. My brother dying because I wasn't able to do anything is one too many people."
He stepped toward her and held out his hand, steadily reaching forward and stopping when he was just inches from her. He wanted her to close the gap, and after a few moments of hesitation, she did. The warmth of his hand brought warmth to her heart. She initially wasn't sure whether or not Lucas had meant what he said, but now…she was certain.
"…I don't know what you want me to say." she said suddenly.
"Anything you want. You can return my feelings, or you can tell me to take a hike. I just wanted to tell you how I felt. I was tired of holding it back, and you deserved to know why I was being such a pest."
"No…you weren't being a pest. You had every right to know, and I…I was just being too self-centered to admit it."
"Still, I'm sorry."
Saya smiled. This was exactly what she needed. The two had already been alone together and it worked out so well…but that was nothing compared to now. They were fully committing to each other and she could barely believe it. The idea that she would live forever and he would eventually grow old and die didn't seem to matter anymore.
"So what exactly do you love about me?"
"What is there not to love?"
"Well…Morrigan was right about one thing. I'm really whiny."
"I can live with that. I used to be that way, too. I still am sometimes. Besides, you've got a group of monsters after you and you're hands-down the oldest human being on the planet. You've got every right to whine about it."
The two shared a comforting laugh and slipped into a soft hug. Realizing that their lips were now only inches apart, the two flushed bright red, but didn't dare to pull apart from each other. They indulged in the feeling of each other's breaths, and they slowly started to slip closer to each other…
"For goodness sake, kiddies. Get a room."
"…oh, no."
The two split apart and spotted Hades, standing there in a manageable height of about eight feet but still looking far more intimidating than they would have preferred. He naturally had an amused look on his face at their display, probably more delighted that he had the two right where he wanted them.
"No, no. Carry on. I won't interrupt. It looked like it was just about to get interesting."
"What are you doing here?!" Saya shouted.
"Don't be stupid. You know exactly why I'm here. Every party needs a pooper, you know."
Hades held up his hand, and Lucas prepared to jump to Saya's defense as a barrier appeared, but he realized too late that Hades had done the exact opposite of what either of them had expected. Hades had seized Lucas in the barrier instead.
"What are you doing?!" Saya cried. "Let him go!"
"You know, that's always bugged me. Why do you demand me to let him go? You know perfectly well that I'm not going to do it. You're just wasting your breath, dear girl."
"He's got nothing to with this!"
"Of course not. He's just collateral damage…or I suppose he's leverage now."
Saya rushed forward, knowing full well that she could break that barrier. Nothing would stop her from saving Lucas. She wouldn't let what happened to Bowser happen to Lucas, too.
Of course, Hades ruined that in seconds by casting another hand forward, shooting a bolt of dark energy that disabled Saya for the time being.
"Not just yet. You need to wait for me to say that cliché threat that all stock villains use. One moment, if you please."
He cleared his throat in an exaggerated manner and then pointed at Saya menacingly as he levitated the barrier holding Lucas into his hand.
"If you ever want to see your little friend again, you will come to the Aokigahara…sorry. I don't do that very often. Take two, director? …never mind. Just come to the suicide forest, alright?"
Hades vanished, taking Lucas with him just as Saya's strength returned to her.
"This can't be happening…"
But it was, and what could she do about it? The second Lucas had pledged himself to her, that dark god bastard decided to swoop in and rip him away from her. She knew that it was a trap, but what would happen if she didn't go for it? They were ruthless. They weren't afraid to kill a child if they had to.
But Aokigahara…why did it have to be there? The demons in that forest could still be there for all she knew. What if she gave into that same madness she'd felt there before? It would seem like nothing would happen, but that wasn't true. Suicide had been a way to get the voices in her head to stop. Now that she was incapable of dying, they had free reign over her mind. They could torture her as much as they wanted to and she would be unable to do a thing about it.
But she couldn't think about herself anymore. She broke into a run back toward the haunted and potentially evil forest. Her friend was in danger and she could save him. She wouldn't stand by and let it happen. She didn't care that she would be going up against these monsters alone. If she had a chance to save him, even a small one, she would take it.
"To hell with Juri, to hell with Ghirahim, to hell with Hades, to hell with Jedah, and to hell with Ganondorf. Hold on, Lucas. I'm coming. They can't stop me…and if I have to, I'll break my father's promise. I'll use my power…"
Then she said to herself what she wished she could have said and knew she would say once she got the chance.
"Because I love you, too."
Back in the base, the six tubes Saya had been attached to burst open, the subjects within them having been completely formed. The six had their objective implanted into their minds, and exited the building in different ways. Two phased through the ceiling, one chewed through it with another flying out through the hole, and the fifth punched a hole through the wall.
The sixth was about to follow the fifth through the hole, but stopped when it picked up a scent. It sniffed at the air. Someone had been in this room…someone the creature knew. It analyzed the scent in its primitive mind, and an image of Jill popped up. It gritted its teeth and exited the building, its hulking feet making loud thumps every time it stepped.
The most sinister sound it made, however, was what it said. It knew only word, and it was determined to find the source of that word…and destroy her.
"Staaaaaars…."
That's right! The big badass Nemesis is in!
In any case, you knew the two Dantes had to fight each other sooner or later, right? Now here comes that all-important question: given the fact that the Devil May Cry reboot is critically panned by most fans and I've defended it to no end, do I like the reboot's Dante (or, as I called him, Dante Omega) more than the original one (a.k.a. Dante Alpha)? Well...no. Don't get me wrong, I do like the new Dante and think he's a cool character, but he's neither as good-looking nor as funny as the original one.
That said, he does get some funny lines in his game and is probably a lot better than some other guys I know, partly because he's modelled after his voice actor, Tim Phillips. Seriously. Go on Google and look up a picture of Tim and just TRY to tell me he's an ugly guy. And I'm not sure if this matters or not, but to the fangirls that are into that kind of stuff, he's Australian, so there's a bit of foreign flair to him, too...yeah.
"Australians are cool" is what I'm getting at.
