"mmm this fish tastes great, I knew it would. here pikachu, want some?" says ash
"piika!"
pikachu sits on ash's shoulder and breaks off a piece of fish as ash holds it up then pikachu starts nibbling on the piece he broke off while ash continues eating the big piece.
"mmm good, huh?" says ash
"pii, pikachu!"
"right, I love festival food!" says ash swallowing the food in his mouth
seconds later they both finish eating the fried fish and exhale in satisfaction.
"that was good. I wonder what other kinda food they got here?" says ash looking around at the many food stands
he quickly spots the different vendors and the types of food they are giving away at their stands.
"wow! burgers, noodles, hot dogs, cotton candy, all kinds of food! I dunno if I'll be able to try em all! I'm in food heaven!" says ash looking up at the sky
"ok pikachu let's all of them out. I'll bet they're all just as good as the fried fish" says ash
pikachu nods then ash starts to walk forward up the pathway towards the other stands.
"let's go!" says ash throwing his fist in the air
as he walks an individual comes up to him as if to get his attention.
"um, excuse me. ash?" says the man
"huh?" says ash stopping to look at the stranger
"you are ash ketchum aren't you?" asks the man
"oh, yeah that's right. I'm ash" he says
"ah ash it is you. long time no see huh? you're doing well I imagine haha" says the guy
"uh yeah... um I'm sorry but... who are you?" says ash a bit confused, unsure of the stranger's identity
"huh? oh I guess you don't remember me. well guess that's to be expected, it has been years since we last met haha" the individual says
"oh really?" says ash curious
"yes. ok think back to the hoenn league tournament 4 or so years ago. we both competed in it remember? you were my opponent in the quarterfinals. does that ring any bells?" he says
ash thinks for a minute about what the man said and tries to remember.
"hmmm... the hoenn league... back when I was in the hoenn region with brock, may, and max..." he says to himself while thinking
ash slowly starts to remember when he competed in the hoenn tournament and who he battled against in said tournament. then in an instant he has a revelation and looks up at the man remembering the man who turns out to be tyson, his old rival from the hoenn league who is slightly taller then before but otherwise looks the same way.
"ah! wait, you're... tyson?" says ash
"haha yup that's right. so you finally remembered huh? great" says tyson with a smile
"wow it has been a long time, I haven't seen you since the hoenn league. didn't think I'd see you here though. how've you been?" says ash
"oh I've been great ash. ever since we parted ways after the hoenn league I've been doing nonstop training and getting stronger everyday. I challenged the hoenn league a few times and made it to the finals last year but I fell short of winning sadly haha" says tyson
"oh, man that sucks" says ash
"it does but I'm not giving up, I'll keep trying heh. I'm gonna win the league one of these days!" says tyson
"great, keep on training and I have no doubt you will" says ash
"yeah thanks. oh I heard you're doing well too. the news is that not only did you win the indigo league tournament but you also beat the elite 4 and even damn near beat the champion himself lance. ash that's incredible! I can tell just from looking that you've gotten tremendously stronger since way back when. anyway that's kinda the reason I came, I wanted to see how you were and to say congrats on your great achievement ash" says tyson
"oh thanks a lot" says ash nodding
"no prob, hey maybe we should have a battle sometime" says tyson
"oh yeah that'd be great. anytime you want it we can have a battle. should be fun" says ash smiling
"yeah, but I should probably prepare first or you'll destroy me" says tyson chuckling
"haha well you never know. so you checking out the festival too?" says ash
"oh yeah, I gotta say your hometown's really going all out for this celebration. it's awesome, and well deserved" says tyson
"heh yeah its great. oh I was just about to try out the different food stands with pikachu. what are you doing next?" says ash
"oh I was gonna try some of those carnival games and look around" says tyson
"oh ok, well we can walk there together" says ash
"cool, sounds like a plan" says tyson
"alright, lets go" says ash
tyson nods as ash turns to the direction he was going before and starts walking. after taking a few steps someone walks up in front of his path and stands a few feet ahead of ash facing him.
"well, well, well, look who it is" the person says in a familiar cocky voice
ash looks at the person quickly realizing it's his old rival gary and stops walking.
