Title: Armageddon
Rating: T
Warnings: Major spoilers for "Utopia", "The Sound of Drums" and "Last of the Time Lords"; violence; mild language; allusions to rape (but I promise nothing explicit or graphic)
A/N: As always thank you so much for the reviews! I really appreciate your input!
I'm going to apologize for how short this chapter is. I have been unusually busy these last couple of weeks – midterms are this week and I've been working on a writing project for my Creative Writing class.
Also, I made a few minor changes to the last chapter because I totally missed Jack in the scene in Rufus's bunker and I accidentally called Morgan Dean. I swear, I do proof the chapters before they go out, but I miss a lot, and I apologize.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter! Please don't forget to review!
Armageddon:
Part III: The Year of Hell
Chapter Thirty-Nine
Jenny stood when she heard footsteps echoing down the hall. It was only one pair of feet though, and she frowned when Michelle came into view. The younger woman was staring at the ground, rather than at Director Sheppard's face. It took several moments for her to look up and her eyes were wide and teary.
"We have to move tonight," she said. "Most of the men are still on below, searching for the safe house Dr. Reid was in, but we don't have time to waste. Be ready and I'll be back in a few hours to get you."
She started to turn and leave, but Jenny frowned, reaching out to her.
"Wait," she frowned. "What about Lassiter? Where is he?"
Michelle took a deep breath and didn't turn back around. Slowly, she shook her head. "He's gone." She didn't wait for more questions, she kept walking and turned the corner as quickly as she could.
Jenny moved back to her seat in the cell, her eyes not focused on anything in particular. She didn't feel surprise at the revelation. It wasn't as if she and Lassiter hadn't expected to be killed eventually, but she had assumed that when that happened they would be together and she wouldn't have to live very long with the knowledge that she had lost another friend.
Her gut churned a bit and she closed her eyes. She had already lost so much and it seemed she always found something new to lose just when she thought she had hit the bottom. Suddenly she felt very alone and very vulnerable and she hated that feeling more than any other feeling in the world. She wiped the stray tears from her eyes and clenched her fists.
Even if she didn't survive this escape attempt, she was going to make the Master wish he had never imprisoned her.

"They think they know where Jake is," Tosh announced, an excited tinge in her voice as she waved everyone over to the computer again.
"Where is he?" John asked, standing directly behind her to peer over her shoulder.
"San Antonio, Texas. That's what they think, anyway. There's been a lot of strange activity there lately that they say is connected to demons."
She didn't miss Sherlock's quiet, dismissive snort when she said the word 'demons', but she ignored it. Demons or aliens or whatever these things were wasn't important. What mattered was that they had taken Jake and they were dangerous.
"Are they sending people to find them?" Ianto asked.
"They sent a part out after Dean took off," Tosh nodded. "They're still worried though. Demons are hard to kill, apparently. They don't have any lethal weapons against them and they're a long ways away from San Antonio as it is. It'll take them a week to get there while staying under the radar."
"Anything could happen in a week," Sherlock pointed out. "These so-called demons could get what they want from Sam and Jake by the time the rescue party arrives."
"Exactly," Tosh sighed. "But they haven't heard anything from Castiel or the other angels. It'd be easier if Cas had a phone or something we could contact them on."
"Doubt they know how to use a phone," Ianto pointed out.
"Prayer is all we have," John said. "That's what Gabriel told us to do when we needed them so we'll just have to keep doing it until one of them responds to us."
"Prayer," Sherlock practically sneered the word. "How do they expect that to even work? They can't possibly hear us."
"Angels, Sherlock," John said, frowning at him. "I'm pretty sure an angel can pick up a prayer."
Sherlock looked like he was about to argue that point, but Tosh cut them off. "Doesn't matter. It's all we can do at this point. Pray to them and hope that they're listening. If Jake really is in San Antonio then there isn't anything we can do to get there in time and help." She gave Sherlock a stern look. "So we all need to pray. Alright?"
Sighing heavily, as if the whole thing was tiring, Sherlock nodded. "Alright, I will pray. Ridiculous as it is, I suppose it can't hurt to humor you."

Everything in the room was in boxes. Most of the cardboard containers weren't very sturdy and Sarah Jane worried that they would collapse before they could even get them to the van they had. She put a hand on her hip and closed her eyes.
"Where are we going to go?" Francine asked, suddenly appearing beside her. "There are Toclafane all over the city and the Master's men are everywhere."
"We'll find somewhere," Sarah Jane said. "The Master has Spencer and we can't risk staying here long. He's strong, but that doesn't mean that he can hold up forever under torture."
Fran shivered and nodded. She knew exactly what Sarah Jane meant. She glanced at her daughter and pressed her lips together. "I'm worried, that's all. Traveling around is risky."
"Riskier to stay here,"

"What do we do now?" Jack asked, glancing over at Hotch and Gibbs. The two of them looked anxious – or, as anxious as either of them ever looked.
"Dean's right about one thing," Rufus said. "We do have other things to do. We got the weapons in place inside the cities. As far as we can tell, they're working well, like they were over in the UK."
"So now we have to get on making more," Gibbs said. He glanced over at Ash and McGee, who were busy sending a message to let Jake's friends know that they thought they may have pinpointed his location.
"That'll be easy," Ash said, looking up. "We've got the working specs and plenty of scrap metal here. The hard part is getting more of the metal detectors in the first place."
"We'll do another run then," Hotch said. "Jack, you can come with me and Rufus." Jack nodded.
"Sounds good," Jack said. He was ready to get back out there and actually be doing something, no matter how small it might seem.
"I'll take Teresa and Tobias," Gibbs said, frowning after a moment.
"Is he up for that?" Teresa asked. "Dr. Holloway said he was still having trouble with his balance."
"He wants to be out there," Gibbs said. "They're simple runs. I can cover him in anything comes up." There was a note of steel in Gibbs's voice and Teresa frowned.
"Alright," she said. "Then I want Grace to come with us too." She glanced over at the redhead and Grace nodded.
"Fine. We need to hurry. We'll be gone for a few days," he glanced over at McGee then. "Keep us updated on DiNozzo and the others when you can."
"Will do, Boss."
"What about the rest of us?" Shawn asked.
"We could use another food run," Gibbs said, glancing around for a moment.
"I don't know," Juliet eyed Shawn anxiously. "Shawn, are you –"
"I can shoot a gun," Shawn insisted.
"He is a pretty good shot…" Grace said. She had been working with him and Jane when they had the time and Shawn was surprisingly good. Henry told her that he had taught Shawn how to shoot a gun when he was younger.
"He could take Henry," Gus said. "He's walking. And he's gonna want to go if Shawn goes anyway."
"Alright," Hotch said. "Shawn and his dad will go on a food run. Charlie, Abby, Garcia, Ash and McGee are working on the weapons'. We'll be back in a few days."
"Maybe McGee should go with them," Teresa said. "Just in case. Food runs don't take that long." She glanced at McGee and Ash. "You can spare the time while we're gone anyway, right?"
McGee immediately looked to Gibbs. Gibbs nodded and McGee turned back to Teresa. "We can do that."
"That's settled then," Rufus said. "Let's get moving."

A/N: As I said, I'm sorry this is so much shorter than usual. I've been so busy and I'm exhausted and I just had to make sure that I got something posted.
I'm hoping to end the Sam/Jake/Alistair subplot next chapter, along with the escape attempt with Jenny and Michelle. Next chapter will be a lot longer if it all goes as planned. I just hope I can get it all finished on time.
As a few of you know, I'm actually working on revising this story – it's very slow going because this is such a huge story and there are so many things I'm trying to fix. I'm pretty sure that this chapter will get absorbed into another when I get to it in the revisions… It just feels like it should be part of either last chapter or what I'm planning for next chapter. I know that's a lame excuse for such a wimpy chapter, but I hope that's alright. Please forgive me, guys.
I hope you enjoyed it in spite of how short it was. Please don't forget to review!
