Chapter One
Link stood, as his wounds were stitched up. Zelda was busy writing letters and approving summons for aid from the many countries they were joined with.
"I'm going to see Rego, he's going to need us." He said.
Zelda sighed, calling in her councilor. "Please, Anna, continue filling these out." She stood up, hugging Link, who wrapped his arms around her.
"It's okay, dear...Impa will meet us again." He said, stroking her hair.
Zelda nodded. "Rego..he's angry." Link sighed, looking out the window, staring.
"I know. He's calm though, he won't do anything foolish." Zelda nodded.
"Go see him. Please, convince him to let the White Council find them." Link kissed her.
"Of course. Will we be getting any help from our allies?"
"We already have a few on their way, and the Takodonnian Politicians are here, helping already. I can deal with this, go." He nodded, leaving the room.
Link arrived at the training grounds that Rego and Impa used. The mannequins were damaged and falling apart, and knives were sunken into the targets hanging from the trees. The ground was scorched from spells, and the smell filled the air. He walked up to the shack that Rego resided in, and knocked.
"Son..?" he called out, to no response. He opened the door, and peered in. "Damn." Rego wasn't there, and neither was his Sheikah Armor. He slammed the door behind him, it shattering with the force of it, as Link strode back to the castle.
Link walked into the room that Zelda sat in, a glass of wine next to her. "I finally finished all of the paperwork, and-"
"Rego is gone." Zelda's eyes widened.
"What?"
"And he took his armor." Zelda ran her hands through her hair.
"He'll come back...I..hope." Link sighed.
"It's been so long since I've had to do this kinda stuff, Zelda. I'm out of practice."
She laughed. "You'll get it."
He frowned. "We had Impa do these kind of things..." He said, looking out the window. "Any clues as to who did it?"
Zelda stood up. "Yes, actually. The White Council found that someone entered Hyrule through a canal under Zora's Domain. He's royalty, apparently."
Link rose his eyebrow. "Royalty?" Zelda nodded.
"We don't talk about him much. He was disowned since he tried to force his agenda on us."
"Who is he?"
"His name is Cadus. He's...my brother." Link's eyes widened.
"What?! Brother? When did you have a brother?" Zelda sighed.
"It was forbidden to mention him, and after a while, we forgot about him. He was angry that I was given the Triforce, and not him." Link sighed.
"Well, I suppose he's the one?" Zelda nodded. "Most likely."
Link and Zelda were both dressed in black as they stood before Impa's coffin, being lowered. Half of Hyrule had come to mourn the woman known as "Hyrule's Grandmother." Flowers lined her grave and people wept as Mithro, the high leader of the Wizards of the White Council stood at a podium, giving a eulogy. At the end, he sighed.
"Is there anyone who wishes to speak of Impa?" Zelda stepped forward, but a voice rang out, stopping her.
"I would."
Link and Zelda turned, to see Rego walking up, the crowd splitting because of it. He was dressed in all black, and his hair was messed up. He walked up to the podium, and cleared his throat.
"Impa.." He began. "Was like a second mother to me. She helped change my diapers, she helped me learn to talk, she helped me dress for events, and she helped me learn to control my emotions. She was a teacher, a cook, a maid, but most importantly, a friend. But she was a fighter. She taught me how to throw a knife, how to break a tree with a kick, and how to disappear. The person who killed my friend is a mystery, but I assure you. I will find them, and I will kill them."
He stepped off of the podium, and out of the area where the funeral was being held, as the audience began talking, puzzled. Link raced to catch up with Rego, who had already made it out of the castle.
"Rego, stop!" He said. His son turned around. His clothes had changed to his Sheikah Armor, a combination of Metal weaved into a black fabric, which covered his whole body.
"Father, this is our only option."
Link shook his head. "Impa taught you to be calm, to control your emotions!" Rego said nothing.
"Father, do I look out of control? I'm calm. I will calmly hunt him down, and tear out his heart. Then I'll return, and resume my duties." Link growled.
"No, you won't." Rego turned and walked away. "I'm old enough that nobody is allowed to come after me." Link frowned.
"Rego! You're breaking a law!" Rego turned quickly.
"Yes, I am. But sometimes, you have to do that. You should know this. Is it legal to crawl into the Princess's courtyard? No? I didn't think so. I have to do this, dad. Impa was my best friend. She'll be avenged." He threw down a smoke bomb, and Link knew he was gone. He yelled angrily, and walked back to the funeral.
"He's gone, Zelda. He's insisting on killing whoever did this." Zelda sighed.
"This is bad, this is very bad. We won't be able to stop, him, it's illegal to send someone after him."
"Looks like the royal family has problems with it's men, eh?" Said a voice. Link and Zelda turned, to see a man in a red cloak, his facial hair trimmed carefully. Zelda gasped.
"Cadus!"
Link's eyes widened, and without thinking threw a punch at the man. He fell back, his hand moving to his mouth.
"See? They are out of control..."
Zelda yelled, and the crowd scattered as the Guards closed in, pointing their spear on Cadus.
"Well..what a warm welcome, sister dearest." He hissed. Zelda scowled at him.
"What in Din's name are you doing here!" He smiled.
"Just visiting. My ban has worn off, after all. I do love my country." Zelda waved her hand.
"Imprison him."
The guards grabbed him, and carried him away. Link frowned.
"We need to go to someplace private." He and Zelda left the courtyard, and went inside their private quarters.
"Are you sure it's him? We've never caught a terrorist this quickly."
"I'm not sure at all, but we have to cover all of our bases. If Rego finds out, he'll come back, and we can..." Zelda said.
"We can what?"
"Intercept him."
Link scratched his neck.
"About that..." He said. "The soldiers can't go after him, so...I have to." Zelda's jaw opened.
"Yes, but-"
"No. It's been a while, but I know we have to take action quickly. We have to find justice for Takodonna, and we have to stop Rego from letting that happen." Link said. Zelda sighed.
"We can't just send you after the Prince. That's not exactly legal." Link nodded, clipping his cape.
"No, but Rego has a point. Sometimes, once in a rare while, you have to do something outside of the law. I may be out of practice, and in my fourties, but I can sneak out, and if I get caught, it's diplomatic immunity." Zelda said nothing, her face conflicted.
"But, if Cadus isn't our man, then the real culprit is stil-" Link hugged her close, kissing her forehead. "Don't worry, it's me." She nodded.
"Just...please be safe." Link nodded. He stepped out of the room, summoning a guard. "Mal, would you please get me the blacksmith? I'll need a sword."
Hey guys! I finally got chapter two out, and I think it's pretty exciting! I've watched Captain America: Civil War 5 times now, and I think I have a rough plot done for this (don't worry, it's not the same by any stretch) and I think when you learn how Cadus and whoever he is ties into The Legend of Zelda: Civil War, you'll be surprised. Please leave a review! I hope you liked it!
