Chapter Five
Rego woke up suddenly, his eyes adjusting to the light as he sat up slowly. He stared at his hand, the faint glow of the golden triangle pulsing slowly. His eyes narrowed angrily as he looked up into the light. "So you want me to use the power, huh...I can do that." He put his mask on over his head, leaping up and out of the canyon, running towards Death Mountain.
Zelda walked down the steps to the dungeon, a book in her hand. She sighed. "Cadus, if you're ready to-" She stopped, dropping the book as her jaw opened, a gasp escaping her. Cadus's cell was empty, And there was no sign of him. The door behind her opened, and Cadus stood, a smirk on his face.
"Hello Sister dear."
Zelda rose her hands to cast a spell, but Cadus beat her to it, pushing her to the ground hard. He snapped his fingers, an echo ringing through the castle.
"I am saddened to tell you your guards will no longer be serving you..." He said, walking down the steps as guards filled the room, a strange red glow emanating from their eyes. Zelda scowled at Cadus.
"How long have you been planning this Cadus?!" She yelled. Cadus laughed.
"Years, Zelda. Years. I set off the bomb, and I knew you'd jail me on sight. As soon as the cell closed, I started working on the guards' minds, and now this dungeon is my stronghold. My men are on their way already. I expected your little runt to be depressed, but never would I guess he run off to kill people, and Link scrambling after him made it all too easy to overtake you." He said, smiling wildly. With a flick of his wrist, Zelda's body flew into the cell, the cage slamming shut.
"You won't make it out of here alive, Link AND Rego will hear my cries!" Zelda spat, her body shaking with anger. Cadus smiled.
"I'm counting on it." He said, spinning around with glee. "Now we wait for the main event!" He exited the dungeon, laughter echoing through it's empty halls.
Cadus's men rode swiftly across Hyrule, as silently as possible, as they made their way to the castle, a large chest being guarded heavily on a carriage, it's importance greater than any of them.
Link trotted towards Death Mountain, sensing that Rego was near. His head was hung low, thinking of the massacre his son, his heir, had caused. He felt as if he had failed, not only himself, but the goddesses, Zelda, and Rego himself. As his horse scaled the rocky terrain of Death Mountain, he could smell the familiar scent of explosives, and smiled thinking of his days with the Gorons.
Rego sifted through papers in the dark cave he had found, the men who attempted to stop him in the corner grunting through their gags as they were hung from the ceiling, beaten badly. Rego found papers detailing the prototype of a weapon, that was seemingly a sword of fire, as well as a bomb, but nothing detailing what they were meant for. He yelled in anger as his fist slammed into the table the papers sat on, breaking it in two. His hand stung from the blow, but he ignored it as he grabbed one of the men, screaming at him.
"WHO DID IT?!" He yelled, his fist clenching around the man's throat.
Link dismounted his horse, looking around the rocky canyon as he breathed out a sigh. His hand began to sting, and he looked down at it puzzled, his corner of the Triforce glowing brightly.
"Rego must be near..." He said to himself, looking around in confusion.
"You all will pay for-" Rego stopped, looking at the triangle on his hand glowing. It lit up, the empty two pieces being outlined as well, before the lower corner, Wisdom, began to blink. He looked puzzled at it, holding it up in front of his face, as his eyes widened, the sudden realization hitting him.
The wisdom corner of Link's hand began to blink, and Link shouted, his eyes widening.
"Zelda!"
"Mom!"
Link leaped upon his horse, spurring it into action as he recklessly went down the mountain, hurrying towards Hyrule Castle.
Rego leaped out of the cave, scaling the cliffs quickly as he made his way towards Hyrule Castle, the sounds of hoof beats echoing through the canyon.
SO MANY PAGE BREAKS WOW
Hey guys! I finally did something! It is more of a filler chapter, and I believe the next one will sadly be the last...of my entire fanfiction adventure. For now at least. I have so many things to do now, take care of 3 kids ON MY OWN, as my dad has to go to work and isn't exactly super experienced with children, as well as take care of all of the chores, and when I do have time to write, I generally can't get anything out. I hope you guys can respect my self imposed exile- I mean hiatus, and I mean it, please please please please review, it means the world to me to see you guys giving feedback. Thank you all for your support, and in case you were wondering, my two most popular stories are over 1,100 views each, which to me, a 16 year old, is amazing. Thank you guys for being here for me through this adventure, and I really love you all.
