.
Arriving to the other world was a bit of a mess.
North, China, and Scotland were the magical users of his world and had prepped Finland a magic circle with just pure energy to set Finland off into the other world.
Finland hadn't realized the magic circle would give him such an incredible power boost that as soon as he uttered the last syllable in the spell, Finland shot up towards the sky in a magical particle blast.
By the time Finland realized what was going on, he was already very far away from the ground and ascending like a rocket. His shoes had suddenly become rocket like as they thrusted on this green like particle below him.
He was ascending so very high.
It was as if time had slowed down before he was registering his surroundings. As he blasted through each layer of clouds, did the land below him look smaller and smaller. The land looked more like puzzle pieces and patches of green as if sown on a quilt. And the water began to look still and glassy like.
He really was reaching high altitudes when it hit Finland how scary this whole situation finally was. Finland never understood his fear of heights until he left the stratosphere and once he did, was he truly afraid. Nations were always attached to their land and there had been this oath that bound the personification and the land seeded deep within them. So to be torn away, set into the skies, and going off towards space- did it give Finland the strangest of feelings.
Once he hit a certain height in the atmosphere, he felt like he'd lose consciousness. And for a split second it felt as if something had severely broke inside him.
Like half of himself had violently split as the parts shattered on the ground. In that moment, he was not sure what he was seeing. He saw himself, his physical body, cast then slowly downwards away from him. He was still ascending so he wasn't sure what exactly had happened. How could he have separated from himself if he was still going up? Though he was definitely sure he just saw himself fall back to the ground with eyes closed, into the sea of clouds.
Finland had reached out for himself to realize that he was still ascending and ascending. There was nothing he could do.
He broke through the last bits of clouds and began to leave the blue particle sky. He looked up to see himself floating out in space as he kept leaving his home.
This whole experience was jarring as it was hard to grasp. He was sure that in a romantic sense, seeing the stars up in space would be something ever so calming like drinking tea near a riverbed. But today wasn't that day and he was ever so terrified.
If the things he thought really transpired and he just saw another self, or if that was truly his body, then that meant that it was just his spirit now going up there in the sky and to space.
Finland still felt a churning like sensation and wanted to barf. Though for a split second as he cupped his mouth with rising disgust, the perplexing question genuinely dawned upon him.
Could he barf? Was there anything really physical about this current self right now? If so then why was he still "feeling" anything? Finland shut his eyes as began to quiver.
Finland felt coldness as he opened his eyes. His hand that he thought had been cupping his mouth had somehow gone through his head.
He freaked out by quickly taking his hand out of his head and gasping. Really this was all too surprising as it was unexpected.
"Is this what is really supposed to happen? When you...world jump?"
Finland found it astonishing the sound of his voice as he spoke. It sounded more echo and soft like. As if he were calling out from a far away place in some sort of echo chamber.
Finland squeaked as he started realizing this was the scariest thing he had gone through. And he was no where close to anyone who could give him any aid or consolation. He was out among the stars, being jetted to who know where and so his dismay intensified with each passing second.
The rapidness of the flight only made things worse as Finland struggled to somehow swim back, but his home was now nowhere in view and probably in one of the specks he was now gawking at.
Ghostly like tears escaped his eyes as they shattered once they flew past a certain point. Finland stopped reaching and struggling as he became very still. He became terrified even more at the fact that once his tears had flown past him more than 5 feet, they shattered in space.
Noticing now that there was perhaps a protective bubble around him and best that he STAYED within that bubble like a good nation, he stopped struggling as much and tried to calm down with nostril like breathes.
He would just have to get used to this whole shenanigans and admire the stars instead of this feeling of dread. It dawned on him that instead of fighting this very strange situation, he should just go with the flow.
As the reflection of stars streamed down his eyes, did he really begin to take into account exactly where he was.
He REALLY was...
... out in that vast space, as the stars gleamed and sparkled their intense beauty.
His home had beautiful sights of the astronomical sky and he had been rather proud of it.
But this...
was unlike any view he'd seen from his place and so he closed his eyes and let out a deep breathe.
He opened them with new confidence as he began to shift his body in a more comfortable position. With hands behind him acting like a makeshift pillow and kicking back a leg on top of his other, he let this magic do whatever it was really doing and take him away.
About 3 hours had pasted when Finland realized that he was watching more black space than stars. The stars had shifted into a different shape and looked more like flat disks.
Finland faintly recognized what he was looking at but he couldn't remember what.
After floating on and on in the eerie silence of space, did Finland decide to wrack his brain for the answer. There really was nothing better to do. So when he realized what it was that he was TRULY watching did he grow really in awe.
These flat like disks...
were galaxies.
And somewhere in those sea of colorful disks was his past home, earth.
Finland felt a sense of loss as he looked at the disk he had currently left. His home was a blue like disk and as he tilted his head upwards, he saw a red like disk in the direction he was heading.
Finland opened his eyes more as he realized exactly where he was going.
He had always known he was going to the next world and to the place where America was still alive and breathing. But this whole experience definitely beat the idea of it.
Finland had hung up his hopes on the idea of it, but to now by truly living it out, second by second, as he flew in the blackness of this space...it really was setting upon him...the gravity of the situation.
He wouldn't know what he'd be confronting...heck, he didn't even know if this spell even worked. He had thought he'd be taking his real physical body onto the next world... as Finland 2 had done. But this time, either through stupid glitch and error, it was just his spirit instead. This had struck a similar cord with what Finland 2 had done the last time, with the dream, but...this by all means shouldn't have happened.
And Finland knew that.
Could he fix a damn thing now?
No, he could not.
So instead of worry over some perhaps...mistake in the spell...Finland would have to take resolve in dealing with the outcomes later on.
Finland was sure he'd just...probably merge with the next Finland. So, it wouldn't be such a big deal. And he'd figure out how to get to his body once he'd figure out how to return back to his world.
Finland's ghostly blood froze as he remembered watching his physical self separate from him and watch his body fall back down towards earth and into the clouds below.
"Wait a minute...Did I just fucking die right there? I mean...would Scotland, North, and China would still be there after they sent me off? THEY DID CATCH ME RIGHT? WAIT, AM I TOTALLY PASSED OUT THEN? AIIIIIEEEEEEE. Finland 2... you didn't... explain.. m"
Finland fretted as he bit his lip. This was all too concerning.
Maybe he did make a huge error somewhere in the spell casting.
All Finland knew was that he'd better get some answers in the next world or he was truly fucked.
Truly fucked.
Finland had crossed a specific wave of space particles when he felt his body shudder. It felt like he had gone through a layer of something, but as he passed right on through it...it gave him the most disturbing feeling. He looked concerned at the nothingness he passed, sure that there was something there. But through his hazel eyes...it just looked like space.
That was space right?
...?
Finland suddenly felt another wave of strangeness when he entered the red disk like galaxy. The jets on his feet had turned on with a greater force as it propelled him forward with twice the speed. If Finland had felt somewhat uncomfortable before...he was now at full speed upset.
Finland let out a wailing scream telling his feet to stop as this ride began to feel like rollercoaster gone wrong with the fastest speed button fully broken.
Finland tried to hold on to his hat as he realized his hand just went through him. He was still babbling fearful muttering, when he tried hard enough and amazingly held onto his hat with both hands. Finland's eyes widened as he realized he could touch himself again.
"I...I-I-I can t-touch myself again...wait..."
Through intensifying fear or just intense feelings, he had gained some control of touching his body. Finland wiped away the ghost like sweat as he then withdrew his back of his palm and looked at the sweat glisten.
"I...I can touch myself! THANK GODDDDDDD!"
After yelling triumphantly into space, it was when Finland had realized the real question he just asked and somewhat blushed.
"G-G-GGood THING! N-no one could hear that!
...wow...
That straight off embarrassing! D:
But really though! I was so freaked out that I couldn't...feel myself even though I could still feel feelings. Uwa...magic is so STRANGE! Magic is so stranggggeeeeeeeeeee."
Finland unclenched his hat as he put his hands on his blushing face. He was somewhat surprised to feel a slight heat on his cheeks even though as he looked at his hands they were slightly transparent. This magic that he had bestowed on himself was something he found himself wondering.
"Magic is so weird.
I mean...
I can STILL see myself...
sort of.
But I can still feel myself at the same time...
So I guess this is okay. However...if had this magic gone even more wrong than it already did...would my consciousness still be here? Or would there be a brain dead version of myself floating in space now?"
Finland's eyes furrowed as he really thought deep and hard about that.
Finland voiced in a concerned voice, "Truly... magic is so complicated."
Finland looked up again to see where he was heading when he realized he saw an embarking world come before him.
That was new earth.
It looked the same from his old one and just by seeing it Finland tear with joy.
This unimaginable ride would finally end!
And within a few seconds, Finland broke into the astrosphere and descended with a slowness into the atmosphere. The speed had decreased as the magical particles shooting from his soles of his shoe had lessened.
Finland slowly managed to swim himself upright as he descended more and more through this new sky.
The sky itself felt very foreign to him as he felt shivers go through all his body. He was not part of this world and he wondered if this world would reject him.
The shivers had spread through all his body until it subsided. He held his breath as he sighed in relief. It seems that this world had accepted him after all.
He had been looking slightly glad when he really smiled. Looking down, he saw the iconic nation of America below him. It was still far but that was definitely the land of America.
Finland let out a brief cheer when his eyes looked towards the other parts of the world. America looked like they had no clouds above. So this would have meant a forecast of beautiful weather for America as a whole.
However, as Finland looked onwards towards South America and then up towards Canada...and past to Europe and Africa...
Finland narrowed his eyes.
Why was it that there were dark clouds swirling on just about every other nation in this world? It was not normal behavior.
Finland kept looking in suspicion at the other nations as he decided to keep a mental note on why the weather was so haphazard.
Weather: on the scale of 1 to 10 of normalcy... America is a 10 in normal. The others...look like they are at a 2. Will have to investigate. Maybe...that's a norm for this world. But no matter how you slice it...those clouds look very dark grey and ominous... hmmmm.
And he kept going down and down until he realized he would arrive at a dense forest.
"Am I- is future me really here?"
Finland wasn't so sure as he finally felt his feet some to a halt mid air.
Finland had finally arrived!
And of course, be hold, he was in the middle of fucking no where.
Finland didn't exactly hit the ground as he wondered why he was sort of just floating.
...
"So...I'm like a true ghost right now aren't I?"
...
"Feet go on the ground already..."
Finland gave one attempt to push down his sole further and with that, the floating sensation disappeared and he fell onto the ground. When Finland opened his eyes and looked, he saw his legs and hands going through the ground. Finland quickly jumped up as he realized he was now floating again.
So this definitely meant...he was a ghost now. And that'd he have to get used to these ghost like powers. Right on.
It took Finland around 5 minutes to make sure he could take actual steps on the ground though he'd find himself gliding along the grass 1 inch in the air more than none.
This was a lot better than before and so Finland decided to stick with this fashion of getting around.
Finland was already raking up a good ghost maneuvering skills as he glided through a bountiful of trees.
"Should I really be this lax on being a ghost- sort of? I don't seem to understand the logic of all of this...? _ "
...
"And where the fuck am I? I thought I'd be directly brought to my new future self? That was what happened in the other worlds? So...why the fuck isn't this happening? Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. More shit. All shit. Every shit.. Ah, it's all finally making sense. No wonder past me would curse so much. There were so many little fuck ups one could do in one day. ...
...
Ah! Ah! Didn't Scotland tell me to not fuck up? WELL."
A slight breeze swayed the branches and the grass.
Everything looked picturesque as the scene relaxed Finland's nerves.
Finland had been looking like he had reached his limit on stupid shenanigans when the tension on his muscles, relaxed. Finland took in the delicious salty air as he kept gliding back and forth, through the trees. He wasn't sure where this direction would take him, but it was better than being an idiot and just staying there.
It was when he heard a battle cry scream somewhere around him that he became alert again.
That startled Finland back into this reality as he immediately flew in the direction of the scream. For most nations, when they heard a cry for help, they would dash towards the location of the cry, more often than run from it. Only if a nation felt undeniable fear, would they run. This was less often in most nations.
As Finland glided forward with more tenacity he felt the similar sensation in his heart and understood that even though he may not be a direct descendant of this world...he still felt the obligations of what it meant to be a nation.
So maybe... he didn't land in the middle of nowhere.
Maybe he landed in the right place at the right time. Or so he continued to hope as he flew in a straight line, through the trees and hills alike. He didn't feel anything as he glided through the solid objects so he pushed forward with a faster speed.
It was when he came out of the trees and to a bright clearing did Finland slightly pause. The sun was so bright now that he wasn't in the shadows. The sun slightly blinded him as he quickly put his hands to cover his eyes. It was in that instance that he saw a familiar person fighting another person he never saw before.
"AMERICA," Finland happily cried.
Finland was so overwhelmed with happiness that he couldn't stop from flying over to America happily.
Finland outstretched his arms in a sort of hug like stance only to pass right through the American. Finland turned around with worry and happiness as he realized that this hug would have to be saved for later once he found his future self and merged with him.
Finland quickly babbled, "OMG! America! You're alive! And you're not dead! And you're apparently fighting for your life...so..."
Finland had pointed at America when he yelled, "I Alma logg America to Glasses!"
There was supposed to be a quick glowing of the object as the light would then shatter to seal the spell. But nothing happened. Finland looked pale as he realized the spell didn't work. This...was bad.
America dodged a few punches as he threw in one huge punch towards the man he was fighting to, to only dodge it as well. America made a "tsk" noise as he looked more and more worried. America rebound as he kept stepping more back and back to avoid the vicious kicks the other man was swinging. America had inched too close to the ledge as he looked back in surprise when he was cornered. The edge of the cliff crumbled a bit below America's sneakers. America looked down towards the raging ocean as America mouthed quietly more to himself, "oh shit."
Finland began to panic inside as he wracked his brain.
"Why did that not work? Is it because I'm like a ghost right now? SHIT! America is FINALLY in front of me and I'm about to watch him die? DAMMIT! Wait...if I'm a ghost right now... Then... would the 2nd part of the Alma log technique still work on me?
...
Gotta give it a try!"
Finland commanded the spell for Venti secoundus to activate as he yelled into the air, "4 secoundus!"
Finland's mouth had appeared floating in the air as he yelled once more, "I ALMA LOG AMERICA TO GLASSES!"
His voice sounded more like a far echo even though to Finland it rang clear.
America's glasses then glowed and in a second the glow disappeared. The spell had been cast. And with that it gave Finland the very needed relief.
I DID IT! America's been alma logged!
Now if America did fall off this cliff, he'd surely be able to revive now.
Finland's mouth disappeared as the 4 seconds were up and just in that moment, the guy America had been fighting lunged towards America.
.
.
Finland had felt like he had watched this scene a thousand times.
It always felt the same: the moment before America died.
And so as Finland's nerves has started blasting lightning to each other, telling Finland's body to move! However, Finland just floated there with his mouth curving more and more into a frown. His hazel eyes looked at everything in the slow motion it was transpiring and it ached him. It ached how much he just had to watch this because there wasn't really anything he could do.
He knew that even if did try to grab for America, America would continue to pass right through him. And it didn't matter now. Even if America died here, he wouldn't stay dead. A part of America's soul was now infused in the glasses.
America would be able to come back.
Finland had to painstakingly see in slow motion America's glasses fall off the bridge of his nose and onto the ledge of the grass. America and the guy holding onto him had disappeared past the edge of the cliff as Finland closed his eyes. He heard the most painful screams and then nothing. Finland had cupped his ears anyways as he noticed it was time to see what occurred. Finland was sad. He almost messed up again. But he tried to cheer himself up as well as he chuckled.
"Gahhhh! That was close! Too close for comfort. Why is it always TOO close for comfort? Can't it be...always be comfortable? Ah sheesh! Wait...I hear chattering?"
Finland floated towards the ledge in surprise as he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
America had managed to grasp onto a fly away branch growing in the side of the cliff. America and the man who had put him there were both dangling like poor suckers.
Finland had floated down right beside America as he wondered whether or not he could use the next 16 secondus to lift the American upwards? Finland frowned while looking at the man dangling along side America. He scowled.
"And you! Let him go! What are you guys even talking about? Why are you guys suddenly laughing?"
America and the fellow gave away hearty laughs as Finland felt he was out of the loop. It was then that the fellow took out a knife and stuck it way deep into America's leg. Finland felt his face pale as he looked at America's now painful grimaces. It shocked Finland.
It really did.
How America could still keep on smiling after taking that other blow was beyond Finland's understanding as he looked towards America in a shocked sorrow. And America told the guy to not let go, despite the betrayal.
It shock Finland to the core as he realized that this America was definitely the one... the biggest idiot...or had the biggest heart. Finland didn't really care to answer that thought as he tried to grab America's shaking shoulder.
"You're a good nation America, " Finland softly replied, "...but I won't let you fall into the ocean with him."
Finland yelled once more "5 Secondus!"
This time it was Finland's right hand which had manifest as he grabbed onto America's collar right before America let go. Finland wouldn't have enough time to bring America all the way up the cliff so Finland was set to drag America towards a ledge almost right below him. When the time was up, Finland had to watch America painfully fall towards the ledge and hit it heavily with a loud thump. America laid there as he hand twitched with some profound pain. America gasped heavily as if he was trying to get some air in.
Finland slowly hovered towards him while realizing what he just done.
He just saved America for the most part. Even though America could use some dearly needed medical attention. This wasn't how Finland had intended to save America. He was sort of surprised how cold like he was handling everything. Perhaps it was Finland's 2 memories that were making him behave in this manner, though maybe it was for the better. He had succeeded in preventing America fall into the ocean and that itself was a big task. Even if Finland had alma logged America into the glasses, had his body been torn into pieces by the waves and rocks, and had his body sunk down into the ocean...that would have been impossible to recover.
So at least, with his quick cold like calculations...it saved America from that certain doom.
It seemed to Finland as he saw America struggle to breathe that America would die. Finland so desperately wished to hug America to at least let him know that he was there and that he wasn't dying alone on some ledge in the middle of nowhere. It hurt Finland to see America cry as silent tears streamed down America's cheeks and onto the dirt.
Finland broke away his concentration to look below and see how the other man's body was doing. The waves had consume the man as there was only a stray boot still floating against the rocks. When a bigger wave came, it swept down the boot as well and took it under water to not be seen again. That man was now gone and that thought alone seemed a little too sad to Finland. Even if that man was the main trigger for having America die, for such a fate to befall a human...Finland still felt somewhat bad about it.
Finland DID just witness someone else die. The only difference was that this was not through a memory but in real time.
It didn't sit well on Finland as he tried patting America on the back in a well well manner.
America wasn't breathing now as Finland shut his eyes in a tiredness. He tilted his head back in a somewhat utter defeat as well as a mix of triumph. Things hadn't necessarily turned out like anything he had imagined. He thought things would have gone differently when it was his turn to travel into the next world. And it just seemed like everything happened too fast or too undignified. There was no heroic smoothness as he had imagined himself doing. It was just a lot of quickly second thinking and fucking up.
At least though, Finland felt the safety of knowing that America's psyche was probably now asleep in the glasses up top. Finland faintly wondered when America would stop dreaming and realize that America could become like a ghost too.
With that Finland silently mouthed to America's body, as he watched America's hair cover the face, "I'll be back...to pick you up later...with friends. So don't be sad. We'll all be here soon."
Finland gave a brief forced smile as he floated upwards. Finland came up top and started walk floating towards the glasses. When he arrived, he crouched by it as he said, "Wake up America! Can you hear me? You can leave the glasses you know!"
... Silence.
Finland stayed crouched by the glasses as he noticed the sky's light begin to set. He turned and for him this was the first sunset he saw on this new land. It was amazingly beautiful with hues of peach and hot pinks stretch above the sky.
Finland gazed absent mindedly at the setting sun until it disappeared and night lit the sky. A fresh navy like hue took over as the stars came to play.
The moon was just a sliver but it gave a small light upon the land, casting the darkness with a blue like green.
He smiled to himself worryingly as he realized that there would be more problems to still fix. He still had to find his future self.
Finland remained silent as slight breezes combed the land. The trees and branches made a soft murmur as Finland lied down next to the glasses and looked at the starry sky.
He spoke, "America...you probably can't hear me in there...but I just want to let you know that I'm really glad I got to meet you this time.
This time...you're still here.
So Finland 2 can't be pissed off at me this time. It worked. Alma logging you. Though it really didn't work the first time I blurted it out which really... SCARED ME YA KNOW? But it worked when I said it the second time...so...I guess that's all that matters.
Though...I know you'll laugh but...I still think Finland 2 would get mad that I let you physically die. Though with a nice heal up, you'll be back in shape in no time. And if you still have your super strength, then all the better.
...
You know...I came from the stars.
I was...up there in the sky.
I had to fly all the way to you and it was probably the scariest thing I had done up to this point even though my past self had done many more scarier things.
I really didn't know anything. Before I even knew about what was happening to you and to many other places...all the pain and death... I was living a really content life.
It was quiet and fun. The most I ever had to worry was about reading all the reading material of my nation on time before the meetings.
I really...HAD NO IDEA.
It was all just... a quiet dream and I was living it.
Though, would I go back to that life? I sure would. Everything after that day that I met myself has been a mess. Training was hard. Talking to everyone was hard. And even now, coming here was hard. Maybe...even the things that I will confront in this world will be hard...but even so...I think past me changed me.
And that is why I will definitely own up to the challenges! So America...when you want to wake up from your dream... let us talk.
When I alma logged myself... into my hat the first time...I was dreaming about memories. I dreamt about things that bothered me. About things that happened recently. It really brought my mind up to speed if there were things I had missed the first time.
So I hope...that whatever you are dreaming about now...I hope that it is a good one.
...it's getting really dark... and I'm kind of afraid of the dark...but I know you won't wake anytime soon. So...will you get mad if I leave to find myself?"
...
Finland had known he would be greeted with a silence but asked anyways. He stared down at the glasses which gleamed in the moonlight. Finland placed his hand softly on it as he then got himself up. He marked the glasses so he would be able to get there next time.
Finland looked back at the ledge and decided it best to now look for his future self in this world.
Without another second, Finland flew into the forest and hoped for the best.
