Song: Arsonist's Lullaby by Hozier

Disclaimer: I do not own Arcane.

When I was a child, I heard voices

Some would sing and some would scream

You soon find you have few choices

I learned the voices died with me

When I was a child, I'd sit for hours

Staring into open flame

Something in it had a power

Could barely tear my eyes away

All you have is your fire

And the place you need to reach

Don't you ever tame your demons

But always keep 'em on a leash

It had been three weeks since the bombing in Piltover. News had quickly spread that three of the seven council members had lost their lives in the explosion, leaving the other four in critical condition. While a response from the remaining council members was yet to made, most could assume that Piltover and the Undercity would presently be in an all out war.

After the "tea party" Jinx had hosted, Vi and Caitlyn returned to Piltover in the looming hopes that Caitlyn's mother had survived the bombing. It brought her immense sorrow when presented with the information that when had not.

Vi stood beside Caitlyn in the scorched council room. They stood in silence as they listened to the hollowing sound of broom bristles brushing the shattered glass and wood on the floor. The bodies had already been taken to either the hospital or the morgue depending on their outcome.

"We have to find her…she has to pay." Caitlyn's eyes remained fixed on the floor but Vi didnt need to see them to know they were filled with rage.

Vi placed a hand on her shoulder. "I will find her, you need to stay with your father."

Caitlyn knocked her hand off and stepped away. "No, I am going to find her as well. I have to see to it that…" she took a deep breath. "-that the council receives justice. I am still an enforcer in case you forgot." She scowled.

Vi was slightly taken aback by her tone but understood. "I know you're upset…but if you go out there alone. My sister will kill you." She stepped in front of Caitlyn so their eyes were locked.

"I can handle Jinx." Caitlyn stated confidently. "Like you did at the tea party?" Vi raised a brow.

"That was different, I wasn't trying to hurt her." Caitlyn glared. Before Vi could respond she cut her off. "I'm going to check on Jayce. Don't go anywhere." Caitlyn said firmly before walking out the door.

Vi took the opportunity to leave while she could go unnoticed. She knew where she had to go, the only place Piltover and the Undercity left untouched.

The Firelight's sanctuary

Vi was greeted by the all too familiar at this point, weapons to the face. "I'm here to see Ekko."

One lowered his gun and left to find Ekko, she assumed. Moments later Ekko came crashing into her arms and she sighed into his embrace. "I thought you were dead…"

"I get that a lot…" Vi stepped away from him and saw that his leg was tightly wrapped. "I need to talk to you…" she frowned. He understood and invited her in.

"Did you hear about the council members?" Vi sat in a chair across from him and saw him give a sad nod.

"Do you know where Jinx is?" He raised a brow. Vi shook her head and leaned back in her seat. "She killed Silco…I have a feeling his people won't be too happy with that."

"They probably don't know she killed him so our best bet is that Sevika will take his place." Ekko rolled his eyes at the thought.

"Unless Silco transferred his power and goons to Powder. He said she was like his daughter." Vi shuddered at the thought.

"Either way this isn't going to be good. Piltover will announce a war I'm sure any time now."

"Councilman Talis was already eager to start a war with Silco and I'm betting that he's more eager now than ever. We need a plan." Vi leaned forward and placed her hand against her forehead.

"This place is a sanctuary to escape the war…if Piltover starts a war we will fight but this time it needs to be on their turf." Ekko watched his people peacefully congregating from his room window.

Vi stood from her seat and sighed. "I'm not sure we will have that option. Piltover has the numbers and Silco's goons haven't said a word on their position."

"I have someone in Piltover I can talk to, give me a day." Ekko stood and walked Vi to the exit. "Vi…" Ekko called and she looked back at him. "Yeah?"

"Find your sister…before they do." He cautioned before closing the door. Vi knew exactly to which "they" he was referring to.

War was inevitable and time to prepare was slipping away. Ekko brought his pocket watch out and slung the chain around his wrist so the clock landed in his palm. He listened to the familiar ticking noise feeling the Undercity's time pass with it.
