Wow its been a long time since I've posted. I'll be surprised if anyone if anyone is still following this story but anyway here ya go! -AnUnknownStranger
After the conversation with Vi, Caitlyn contemplated speaking with Jayce. Would he be reasonable in his decision on Jinx or would he be clouded by anger? That question rang through Caitlyn's head. Part of her already knew the answer to that question but the other part didn't really care. Jinx was just as unreasonable if not worse and will stop at nothing for Piltover to fall. Perhaps executing her would be the best solution for everyone.
Caitlyn was shook out of her thoughts at the sound of sniffling. She thought she was alone in this deserted part of the Undercity, but then again, that's usually the kind of places criminals hid. She brought out her weapon and slowly and quietly approached the source of the sound. After rounding a corner she saw a large body of polluted water that went on for miles and miles. On the shore just ahead of her, she observed Jinx as she moved from the water to sit. She sat with her chin atop her knees and her arms clutching her legs firmly to her chest.
Caitlyn approached her slowly, her weapon drawn and her eyes focused. "If you kill me you'll never understand why I did it." Jinx spoke sending chills down Caitlyn's skin. She continued approaching slowly nonetheless.
"Why I attacked the council…why I killed your mother..." Jinx replied with a hint of a smile playing on her words. Caitlyn could feel her anger rising and her trigger finger tightening.
"You did it because you're an unreasonable psychopath." Caitlyn spit out venomously.
Jinx began to stand causing Caitlyn to tense. "And here I thought all psychopaths were reasonable." She chuckled to herself causing Caitlyn to scowl.
Jinx stepped in the dark waters once again and brushed the top of it's murky surface with her finger tips. "Every story needs a hero, a villain…a monster…" Jinx looked down, reached in, and pulled out a handkerchief that had been in Silco's suit pocket. Caitlyn watched and realized that she had brought Silco here to rest in it's polluted depths. "You're going to come with me and answer for your crimes." Caitlyn said firmly as she waited at the waters edge.
Jinx began to laugh again and shake her head. "I don't answer to a Pilty." Jinx quickly brought her hand out of the water and splashed its tainted waters into Caitlyn's eyes. Before Caitlyn could respond her gun barrel was brought to her nose causing a loud crack. She stumbled back dropping her gun and immediately fought to compose herself to retaliate. Jinx threw another punch but this time Caitlyn leaned away and brought her fist to Jinx's jaw. She stumbled back and gave Caitlyn enough time to land another punch to her cheek.
Jinx felt the familiar sting of a split lip and the warmth of the pink shimmer running down her chin. She reached for her pistol and prepared to fire, but before could Caitlyn knocked it out of her grip. Jinx could always admit she was never great at hand-to-hand combat, that was Vi's specialty.
Caitlyn had already dropped her rifle so her fists remained her only tool whereas Jinx had explosives somewhere no doubt. Jinx brought her fist forward again successfully hitting Caitlyn in her rib cage, almost knocking her off her feet. Jinx was stronger due to the shimmer in her system which only made Caitlyn more nervous. Caitlyn swung again this time missing Jinx, quickly realizing that Jinx was faster now too. "How could you do this to Vi?!" Caitlyn shouted as she swung again.
"Don't talk about my sister!" Jinx replied as she brought her foot to Caitlyn's stomach. This time Caitlyn landed in the dark water and gasped to catch her breath. Before she could stand Jinx brought her fist again to her cheek, again, again, and again. Then it stopped. Jinx was ripped off of Caitlyn and forced into the clouded waters beside her. Once Caitlyn's vision cleared she watched as Vi held her sister under its surface, rage preset in her blue eyes.
Jinx clawed at her sisters grip desperately trying to free herself but despite the shimmer running through her veins, she was weaker in comparison to her sister. "Vi!" Caitlyn shouted with desperation in her tired voice. Vi snapped out of her rage and realized what she was doing. She quickly released her grip and brought her sister up for air. Jinx gasped for air, coughing uncontrollably as she tried to push Vi away.
"Powder! I'm so sorry I-" Vi felt her eyes filling with tears as she watched her sister struggle to the shore. Jinx grabbed her pistol as she stood and aimed it between her sister and Caitlyn. "Don't touch me!" Her voice cracked. Vi felt a sudden pain in her chest and wanted nothing more than to hold Powder and apologize. Jinx lowered her pistol and looked to her sister. "You've made your decision…" The pain in Powder's voice was evident enough for Vi to know she messed up. Jinx backed away until she was out of sight.
"I-I have to go after her." Vi began to follow but Caitlyn quickly grasped her shoulder. "Let her go…we will find her again later. We need to have a plan." Caitlyn explained as she wiped the blood from under her nose.
"You mean like you did? If I didn't show up she would have killed you!" Vi yelled furiously.
Caitlyn sighed, "I admit I made a mistake approaching her but she was right there. I couldn't just let her be." Caitlyn argued with frustration.
"You could have waited for me or went back to get me-"
"And risk her leaving? She has to pay for what she's done." Caitlyn scowled. Vi stiffened.
"She lost a father too. As much as I hate to admit it, Silco was her father and she lost him." Vi explained gently.
"She killed him just in case you forgot. She is not the person you think she is anymore. She is not Powder." Caitlyn said firmly as she began walking.
"You're wrong, she's still in there. She didn't even try to hurt me because she still loves me." Vi followed after Caitlyn.
Caitlyn stopped in her tracks and turned to Vi. "How many people have to die at her hands for you to see…that Powder died with right along with them?" Caitlyn asked softly. Vi looked at her with disbelief before continuing to walk. "You can either follow me or go back to Piltover. Whichever you decide I won't stop you." Vi said as she continued forward.
Caitlyn sighed and followed after Vi. On their way to the Firelights headquarters they felt the city rumble under their feet.
"Bomb…do you think-"
"No, she wouldn't act again that fast." Vi responded. They felt the ground rumble again and moved to higher ground. They climbed up to a roof and gasped at the sight before them. "The bridge…it's destroyed." Caitlyn gaped in disbelief.
"Go talk to counselor Talis, I'll go warn the Firelights." Vi instructed. Caitlyn nodded before they went their separate ways.
