Finding the Hextech bomb wasn't going to be easy, in fact, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack when thinking about the size of the Undercity. Plus there was the small fact that they had no idea how much time they had for Jinx to disengage the bomb.
They had all unanimously decided to devise their plan in Silco's old cannery where the "tea party" had taken place just days ago. The stains from Silco's blood still occupied the chair where he met his fate, as well as all of the trinkets Jinx had placed around the table.
Caitlyn placed a map of the Undercity onto the table in front of Vi, Sevika, and her goons. Jinx sat in the chair she had wrote her name on a few feet away. She kicked her boots onto the table and tilted her face to the ceiling.
"There will be several enforcers staged at each entrance to the city and more than likely at the air ships. Jayce-" She took a breath, "Counselor Talis will not let a single Zaunite step foot within Piltover so all of the fighting will be drawn to the Undercity." She traced her finger from Piltover to the Undercity.
"Zaunite?" Sevika raised a brow. Caitlyn and Vi shared a knowing look before informing Sevika. "Before Silco…" Vi's eyes glanced over to Jinx then back to Sevika. "Died. He and Talis made an agreement that in exchange for Jinx, the Undercity would become independent and be known as the Nation of Zaun. Silco would have had a seat at the table representing an independent nation…" Vi explained quickly.
Sevika scowled at Jinx. "So you found out your dear old pops was gonna turn you in so you killed him?" She growled.
"Silco's not her father and he wasn't going to." Vi quickly interjected slamming her fist on the table.
"Wasn't going to? Zaun was all Silco cared about! You're telling me he rejected Talis agreement for that…" Sevika eyed Jinx carefully and the whole room tense at Sevika's next choice of word. "Jinx." Sevika spat.
While Jinx had taken up that name, the creation of it was not lost on her. As much as she tried to own it she couldn't forget her passed.
Jinx quickly launched out her seat taking most everyone by surprise. Everyone but Sevika moved out of the way too slow to stop her anyhow. Jinx jumped behind Sevika, and slammed her head into the table before stabbing a section of her metal arm with a dining knife she had grabbed from the table. Sevika's enhanced arm detached and fell to the ground beside her. She tried to lift her head but failed under Jinx' shimmer enhanced strength.
Jinx face softened when Vi grasped her shoulder. "Powder…" she said gently. Jinx eyes met her sisters blue before relaxing and stepping aside.
Sevika angrily grabbed her metal arm and forced it back into its socket. "Okay, can we focus now?" Caitlyn urged.
"We need to locate the bomb, we are already losing time that we don't have." Ekko informed them before looking at the map.
"The bomb is going to be wherever golden boy found the tools to make the first Hextech device." Jinx said confidently as she spun around in her chair.
Everyone looked over at her with confusion. "And how the hell do you know that?" Sevika glared.
"The guy is an egomaniac, his face is plastered everywhere. Of course he'd put it somehow he's sentimental about." Jinx hadn't made eye contact with anyone. Honestly it was like she was talking to herself.
"Benzo's shop…" Ekko sighed. "Bingo!" Jinx grabbed her pistol off of the table and began to walk toward the exit.
"Where the hell are you going?" Caitlyn questioned.
"I thought that was pretty obvious, to disengage the bomb." Jinx waved her arms dramatically and kept walking.
"Shit, we better go with her. Talis could have sent Enforcers into the city to guard it." Vi said as she began to follow her estranged sister. Caitlyn looked to Sevika, "We know what to do Pilty. Don't forget our deal." She said firmly before eyeing Jinx. Caitlyn nodded before following after Ekko and Vi.
"Let's go." Sevika told her gang before also leaving.
Vi, Caitlyn, and Ekko followed Jinx which seemed like a mistake but she seemed confident in her destination. Caitlyn walked quickly to catch up with Jinx, leaving Vi and Ekko behind.
"Where are we going? The shop is in the city." Caitlyn questioned firmly.
"I guess you all expect me to disengage a Hextech bomb with my bare hands." Jinx wiggled her fingers before rolling her eyes.
"Oh…well I guess not. That still doesn't answer my question though." Caitlyn poked further.
"Everything I need is at my place." Jinx replied with annoyance. Caitlyn scowled at her tone before looking back at Vi who looked worried.
She looked back to Jinx. "Look it's no secret that I hate you for what you did…but I guess we are even." Caitlyn stated causing Jinx to furrow her brows. "Even?" Jinx replied.
"Vi told me that enforcers killed your parents and then you went on to lose two more fathers…" Caitlyn said carefully.
"You could say those last two were my fault but go on." Jinx gave a small laugh but Caitlyn could hear the sadness behind it.
"Vi cares about you…" She began. Jinx listened intently as Caitlyn spoke quietly.
Ekko and Vi watched at Jinx and Caitlyn spoke in hushed tones between one another causing them to feel slightly unsettled.
"What could they possibly be talking about?" Vi narrowed her eyes skeptically.
"Probably how they're gonna kill each other." Ekko laughed to which Vi replied by punching him on the arm. Ekko winced and grasped his arm. "Still got that right hook I see?" He raised a brow and rubbed his sore arm.
"Still a baby I see." Vi smirked. Ekko smiled before returning back to a frown. "This almost feels like old times." He said before looking at Jinx.
Vi followed his eyes and nodded with a smile. "You two were really close back then…I guess a lot did change when I was in prison." Vi frowned.
"You could say that…" He scowled. "She really buried Powder that day Silco found her. I lost all of my friends that day…" Ekko recalled.
"I know…but we're back now." Vi said with sadness as she patted his shoulder. He gave a small smile and looked back at Jinx, recalling what happened at the bridge with her. "Yeah maybe she is…" he said gently. Before Vi could respond she watched as Jinx jumped off the cliff side. Her eyes widened and she ran forward to where her sister had jumped. Caitlyn grabbed her quickly, "Relax! Her place is down there. She's just retrieving some tools." Caitlyn explained quickly. Vi's breathing relaxed and she peered over the edge. She saw some kind of structure below with lights around it illuminating the cliff.
"Okay, we'll be quick." Vi jumped down to meet her sister. Caitlyn and Ekko waited at the top. Vi approached her sister as she gathered various tools quickly.
"Wow, this place kind of looks like where we hid with mom and dad as kids." Vi smirked as her eyes scanned the drawings on the walls.
"That was a long time ago." Jinx replied coldly. Vi frowned and looked back to her sister whom she was still wanting to know again.
"We haven't had much of a chance to talk yet…we get interrupted every time." Vi explained gently.
"Well now isn't a great time either, there's kind of a bomb about to destroy the city." Jinx said as she shoved various wrenches and pliers into a bag. "Well who's fault is that?" Milo teased. Jinx slammed a wrench into the table causing Vi to flinch. "Shut up!" She grabbed her head before closing her eyes and sighing.
"It's Milo isn't it?" Vi gave a small laugh drawing Jinx attention. "He never could keep his mouth shut." Vi shook her head to which Jinx cracked a small smile.
Jinx flipped through Jayce's Hextech journal so as to not make eye contact with her older sister.
"I'm so sorry for not being there for you Pow-Pow…maybe if I was there I could have prevented this." Vi gestured to the drawings before her eyes landed on Jinx.
"It's not your fault, it's mine." Jinx shrugged and felt her words struggle to leave her throat.
Vi quickly stepped forward. "Don't say that! That day…you were only trying to help. You didn't…know." Vi's words came out as a choked sob.
"I should have. Everything I do…gets Jinxed." She stopped turning the pages and saw a tear wet one of the pages.
"Only Silco is to blame for what happened that night." Vi said firmly. Jinx slammed the book closed before shoving it into her bag. "Silco saved me…" Jinx depended.
"I wouldn't call what he did to you after the bridge saving you." Vi scowled. Jinx turned and jabbed her finger into VI's chest. "I did this to me!" She yelled causing Vi to freeze.
Jinx stepped away and began waking back to Caitlyn and Ekko. "Come on, we are running out of time." Jinx pushed but Vi grasped her arm. Something no one had dared to do for a long time.
"No Powder. It can wait." Vi said firmly before stepping in front of her. "What happened after the bridge? I couldn't see anything and then I saw Silco take you away and-" VI's quick panicked rambling was cut off.
"You left me…" A tear left Jinx' eye and she looked down. "On the bridge…you chose that…enforcer over me!" Jinx brought her eyes back to Vi's this time in anger-no frustration.
Vi struggled to find her words for a moment. "You attacked the bridge and hurt her! There was no reasoning with you Powder-"
"It's Jinx now and maybe if you said something to me but you didn't! You let Ekko take care of it." Jinx pushed Vi's hand off of her shoulder in disgust.
"She wanted him to kill you…then you wouldn't be her problem anymore…" Milo teased with a grin.
"Something tells me you weren't going to talk. You seemed pretty set on getting that stone…no matter the cost." Vi scowled. She wondered how this had turned into a fight but Jinx' did have her wondering. What if she had just said something that night?
"You left me to die…" Jinx responded not with anger but hurt. "And I will forever regret that…" Vi pulled Jinx into a hug but she immediately pulled away.
"Let's go, we're running out of time." She sniffled and then made her way back to the top of the cliff.
Vi still had many questions not only about that night but the years she missed. She could only hope that things would once be like they were between her and Powder, no matter how seemingly impossible.
