Here's the next chapter. Enjoy!

Anna xx

After a messy night of drinking I slowly wake up in Klaus's SUV to a severe hangover. I sit up and see I'm alone. I look around the car and see a note in the front seat: Gone hunting, we will be back shortly. Klaus xx.

I slowly step out of the car stretching my legs and the sun immediately hits me and I cover my eyes. "Shit." I grumble. I take a couple steps and feel like I am about to be sick. I run over to the bushes and bend over emptying my stomach contents.

After a couple minutes of sitting I can feel another vomit coming on so I bend back over in the bushes and throw up again. I hear some come up behind me and someone pulls my hair back. I look up and see its Caroline. "First or second?" She asks.

"Second." I answer rolling onto my back. " I feel like shit."

"Do you need anything?"

"Water."

Caroline flashes over to the car and pulls out a water bottle and brings it over. "How long have you been awake?"

"Not long. I woke up and went to stretch my legs then the next thing I'm doing is throwing up in the bushes." I joke. "Do you have a hair tie?"

"Here." She offers taken one off her wrist.

"Thanks. Where's Klaus and Stefan?"

"Still hunting. I finished and wanted to head back before you woke up." She explains and I lay back down and just shut my eyes. After several minutes of lying down I start to sit up and as I stand I stumble. "Wow."

"Sorry." I apologise.

"You sure you want to come with us?"

I nod. "I need to be there. I'm the only one that can calm Klaus down if he has a tantrum." I respond. Once my dizzy spell is over I look around and start to walk back to the car. "Where's the wolf?"

"Dead." Caroline answers plainly.

"Like dead dead or in transition?"

"Transition dead."

I hear footsteps and turn around to see Nik and Stefan approaching. I finally make it to the car and lean on it. I see Nik grin. "Not feeling so good?" He teases.

I glare at him. "If you arrived two minutes earlier you wouldn't be teasing me right now."

His smile drops. "Were you sick?"

"Yep."

"How do you feel now?"

"Like shit." I answer. "But the day goes on." I add and I suddenly feel sick again. "Oh shit." I say running over to the bushes and empty my stomach contents again.

Klaus flashes over and holds back my hair. Once I'm finished he helps me up. "Come on love, let's get you out of the sun."

A couple hours and a shower later I change into jeans and at tshirt and we arrive at the Smokey Mountains. We have been walking for a while and I'm still very much hungover. I dismount off Caroline's back. "Thanks for carrying me." I thank her.

"Any time." She responds.

Up ahead of us is Klaus and Stefan who has Ray on his shoulders. Stefan's been broody this whole walk and it's starting to get on my nerves. "Are you okay?" Klaus asks me.

"I'm good."

"Caroline?"

"Good." Caroline answers.

"Stefan what about you is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus teases.

"I'm fine." Stefan grumbles.

"You sure about that? You know, we've been walking for quite some time now. If you need some water or a little sit-down." Klaus continues to tease.

"Speaking of water." I mention to Caroline.

"Here." she offers tossing me a bottle.

"You are a gem."

"I know that we're stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chitchat, that would be great." Stefan chimes in.

"So much brooding Stefan." I comment. "Your self-loathing is suffocating you."

"Maybe it's because I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer."

"You were the one that made the deal with Klaus so don't you dare complain, if it weren't for Klaus your brother would be dead, so suck it up." I scold and walk past him.

"Brie's right." Caroline agrees. "You complain to much, just enjoy it. I mean you are the ripper of Monterrey for a reason."

Stefan glares at us and we laugh it off. "Soon Stefan you'll get over it." I predict.

"How much further?" He asks moodily.

"Not long, as a matter of fact we are here now." Klaus grins as we enter the camp.

Stefan drops Ray on the ground as the pack surround us in confusion. A woman rushes over. "Ray! Oh, my God. What's going on? Who are you?" She asks stuttering.

Klaus appears with Caroline and I in tow. "The more important question is who am I. Please forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus." Klaus introduces himself.

"You're the hybrid." She gulps.

"Great you've heard of me, fantastic." Klaus smiles clapping his hands together.

Caroline and I take a seat as Klaus begins to talk to the wolves. "It's fascinating really, a werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon, a vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid." Klaus addresses just as Ray bults awake. "Excellent timing, Ray. Very dramatic."

"What's happening to me?" Ray asks confused.

"Stefan, Caroline, this is where you two take over." Klaus calls out and Caroline walks over to Stefan.

"Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transition into a vampire. If he doesn't, he'll die." Stefan says to the wolves.

"Doesn't take much just a sip. Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend, along for the ride?" Caroline asks surveying the pack.

"What about her?" the woman speaks out.

Klaus growls. "She's off limits."

I grin at his protectiveness and search the crowd and notice a male in a white shirt trying to hide. I smirk. "You over there." I point out getting everyone's attention and he freezes.

"There's one." Klaus smirks and rushes over to the male and bites into his forearm. Klaus then throws him to the ground in front of Ray and Stefan. The woman goes to stop him but Klaus stops her.

"If you don't drink Ray, we will." Caroline warns. "And the problem is he doesn't know how to stop."

The girl tries to get past Klaus but to no avail. "It's the new order, sweetheart. You join us, or you die." Klaus says.

"I'd rather die than be a vampire." She growls.

"Wrong choice." Klaus replies as he gives the woman his blood as Ray grabs the mans arm and drinks from it. "She'll thank me for that later." Klaus mumbles and snaps her neck killing her. "Okay, who's next?"

After killing all the wolves Klaus goes over to the male human and compels him. "There, good as new. Now you relax, mate, we're gonna need you when the rest wake up."

From my seated position I turn to see Ray and he doesn't look good. He's shivering and rocking back and forth, I don't think this is supposed to be happening. "They're dead." He observes.

"Ah, he's through his transition. He should be feeling better soon." Klaus predicts.

"So is this your master plan, build an army of hybrid slaves?" Stefan asks.

"Not slaves; soldiers, comrades." I answer for Klaus who gives me a knowing look.

Stefan turns to face me. "For what war, might I ask?"

"Oh, you don't arm yourself after war has been declared, Stefan. You build your army so big no one ever dares pick a fight."

"What makes you so sure that they'll be loyal?" He asks.

"It's not difficult to be loyal when you're on the winning team." I chime in. "That's something you'll learn once you shake that horribly depressive chip off your shoulder."

Stefan laughs. "So that's why Klaus is keeping me around? To witness my attitude adjustment?"

I turn to look at Ray and see his eyes are now bleeding. Okay that definitely shouldn't be happening. "You'll know why I'm keeping you around when I've decided that I want you to know." Klaus answers as he notices Ray's eyes too. "Something's wrong."

"That shouldn't be happening, should it?" Stefan states.

"Well, obviously."

"It's okay Klaus we'll figure this out." I reassure trying to keep him calm him.

Ray turns to Klaus. "You said it was gonna feel better. Why doesn't it feel better?" He asks.

"Some master race." Stefan mocks.

"Lose the attitude." Klaus scolds just as the first woman wakes up. "Derek, come feed your girlfriend."

Derek gets up and Ray snarls and he jumps up pushing me off my seat. "Shit." I squeal as Caroline catches me.

Klaus looks at me frustrated. "Stefan go get him." Klaus orders and approaches me. "Are you okay?" He asks.

"I'm fine." I assure. "Go after Stefan to make sure he comes back."

It's nightime in the camp and everyone has woken up but they all look like Ray. "Bad news, my friend end of the road for you." Klaus farewells Derek and kills him. The woman who Klaus turned second stands across from him glaring and her eyes are bleeding. "Careful, love, there's only one Alpha here." Klaus warns as he looks around and see's all the wolves staggering around camp. "Bloody hell." He grumbles. "Caroline guard Brie."

"Will do." Caroline says backing me up.

"This shouldn't be happening." I whisper.

Caroline nods in agreement. "I know, something is wrong."

Klaus glances around the circle at the Hybrids circling him. He suddenly flashes around and starts killing Hyrbids that are lunging at him and some just fall dead to the ground. "Okay, this definitely shouldn't be happening." I confirm. I turn to Klaus who looks angry. "Nik." I whisper and turn to face him just as Stefan walks into camp with a dead Ray over his shoulders.

Stefan looks at the site and his eyes go wide. "What happened?" He questions.

"They went rabid. Some of them Klaus killed, others just bled out. In the end they're all dead." I answer and I can see Klaus is about to lose it.

He suddenly growls and throws the beer that's in his hand at a tree. "I did everything I was told!" He shouts. I walk over to him and pull his face to mine trying to get him to calm down. "I should be able to turn them. I broke the curse. I killed the werewolf. I killed the vampire. I killed the doppelgänger."

"Listen to me, we'll find answers." I promise.

Stefan stands up looking uncomfortable. Caroline walks up to us and nods. "We will." She agrees.

Caroline turns towards Stefan who isn't paying any attention and he's looking at the ground trying not to act suspicous. I notice this. "What?"

"I'll tell you later." she mouths.

Klaus finally faces me and nods. He turns to Stefan and notices he isn't doing well. "You look like hell." He observes.

"Last I checked I'm dying and you don't want to heal me." Stefan replies. "I had to take him out. I didn't have a choice. I failed you. Do what you have to do."

Klaus turns towards me and I send him a nod. "It should have worked." he whispers and grabs an empty bottle of beer. He bites into his hand and drains his blood into the bottle and hands it to Stefan. "Bottoms up we're leaving."

Back in our hotel room I'm on the bed on my phone when there's a knock at our door. I stand up and open it to find Caroline waiting outside. "Hey." I greet.

"Hi, can I come in?" She asks.

"Of course." I accept and she steps inside. "Whats up?"

"I have to tell you guys something."

"What?"

Klaus steps out of the bathroom and notices Caroline in our room. "Are you going to tell me what you were going to tell me the other day?" Klaus asks her.

"Yes." she answers.

"What were you going to tell him?" I ask.

"What I am about to tell you."

"What?"

"You know how you sent me with Stefan to make sure he came back?"

"Yes." Klaus remembers.

"When I was there I heard something very interesting."

"What?" I ask.

"I heard Elena." she announces.

Both Klaus and my eyes go wide. "She's alive." We say in unison.

"Yes, she must have found a way to survive."

"Did anyone tell you?" I ask.

"I was with Jenna all night so no, I had no idea." she responds. "I knew they were looking for ways to keep her alive but the last I heard was that Damon fed her his blood."

"I remember that, so is she a vampire?"

"I don't think so." She answers unsure.

"I knew Stefan was hiding something." I grumble.

"So what do we do?"

"We play along and see if Stefan slips up." Klaus answers. "Caroline thank you for telling us." Klaus thanks and runs a hand through his hair.

"I have a theory." I speak up.

"What?" They both ask.

"Assuming that you used Elena's blood in the ritual don't you think you would need her blood to turn hybrids?"

"I don't know, but that is something we are going to find out." Klaus responds. "We are still going to Chicago to get answers."

"OMG we're going to Chicago." Caroline squeals elatedly.

"Yes." I laugh.

"What's the plan in Chicago?"

"We are going to see a witch of mine." Nik answers. "So sleep well, we leave first thing in the morning."

Once Caroline has left I turn to face Nik. "What are you thinking?" I ask him.

"I'm thinking Stefan was a fool to think that he could hide something like this from us. Did he really think we weren't going to find out?"

"I don't know what he was thinking, but if you bring back his memories maybe he might have a change of heart."

"Enough talking." Klaus orders and lies me down hovering above me. "More action." He whispers and attaches his lips to mine.
