Once meeting Rebekah and getting her used to living out of a box and living in the current decade, we decide to go shopping as she needs some new clothes. It also gives Caroline and I an opportunity to shop as well.
I'm currently trying on a white off the shoulder midi dress that stops just above my knee. "Is there more to this dress?" Rebekah asks from the fitting room next to me.
"Caroline can you help her out, I'm not decent?" I ask.
"I can help with that love." Klaus chimes in from his seat outside.
"Gross." Rebekah groans.
"Get used to it, they are love sick fools." Caroline chimes in.
"Hey." I wine.
Caroline laughs walking out of the change room. "Rebekah come out so I can see." She advises.
Rebekah walks out in a black dress and is completely baffled. "There has to be more right?"
Klaus looks over at her and frowns. "There's not."
I try to hold back my laugh at his protectiveness. Rebekah twirls around and looks at herself in the mirror. "So women in the 21st century dress like prostitutes then." Rebekah comments. "You know I got dirty looks for wearing trousers."
"Hey, I take judgement to that." I retort and step out of my dressing room. "So what do you think?"
"Stunning love." Klaus compliments and I smile and walk over and sit on his lap.
"Thank you." I thank.
"And what is this music? It sounds like a cable car accident."
I laugh. "It's dance music."
"People actually dance to this?"
"Yes." Caroline answers.
"Are we finished?" Klaus asks getting bored.
"Why are you so grumpy?" Rebekah asks.
"I needed one thing from you for my witch to find out why my hybrids are dying, one thing. Your necklace and you lost it."
"She didn't lose it, it's just been missing for 90 years." I defend.
"Oh great you girls are sticking up for eachother." He groans.
"Serves you right for daggering me." Rebekah mumbles and turns to face Stefan. "Stefan what do you think?"
"I like it." He answers. She doesn't believe him and gives him a look. "What? I said I like it."
"I can always tell when you're lying Stefan." Rebekah says and walks back into the fitting room.
"Nice one good work." Klaus scolds.
"You're the one that pulled the dagger out of her." Stefan retorts.
"I heard that." Rebekah shouts.
Caroline and I chuckle and I turn to face Nik. "One more dress?" I ask him.
"You already have six."
"One more?"
He sighs. "Fine one more. You better be quick, we have stuff to do." I instantly bounce up and head off to find another with Caroline.
Stefan stands up. "I need some air." He alerts.
"Don't go to far." Klaus orders.
"I wont." Stefan answers and he looks outside and exits the shop. I watch as he walks across the road and stops in front of Katherine.
Stefan POV
I walk across the street toward Katherine making sure Klaus doesn't notice. "What the hell are you doing here?" I question.
"You all look chummy, especially with Klaus, is he your new bestie?" Katherine teases.
"You know if he finds out you're here, you're dead."
"Happy to know that you still care." she smirks. "So tell me if I'm wrong, Rebekah's necklace that Klaus is looking for, you gave it to Elena didn't you?"
"Goodbye." I dismiss going to walk away.
"Hey, hey, wait, you're up to something tell me."
"They don't know where the necklace is. I just have to keep them from figuring it out. I have it all under control."
"Does Brie know about the necklace?"
I shrug. "I don't think she ever paid attention to it."
"Please tell me you have a better plan that not letting them find out." Katherine pleads. I don't respond. "You do. Come on, Stefan. You're not the diabolical type. Whatever you're planning, it's not going to work."
"Well, if the most diabolical woman I know can't seem to figure it out, then I must be doing something right."
"Uh-huh. I forgot. You're bad now. Don't get too cocky." She warns. "Klaus is smarter than you. Brie is smarter than she looks, and Caroline ever since she came with you has gotten smarter, and don't get me started on Rebekah, be careful she'll ruin you, and put them all together you're screwed."
"Happy to know you still care." I respond and walk away.
"You better watch what you do now, Brie is aware of what's going on." she warns and flashes off.
I turn back to the boutique and see Brie searching through a rack of clothes. She looks up and sees me and smirks, she knows.
Brie POV
A little while later Caroline, Klaus, Rebekah and myself are sitting at the bar in Glorias drinking away. Stefan enters. "You were gone long." I mention eyeing him closely.
He looks at me uncertainly. "Sorry, retail therapy was doing my head in." he apologises.
"I'm sure it wasn't that bad, I mean Klaus stuck through it."
Klaus looks up at me and smirks. "The champagne and the assistant helped." He responds playfully I hit him in the gut and he smirks. "Jealous?"
I glare at him as Rebekah mutters stands up and walks over to Gloria who is sitting at a table doing a spell with candles. "What's she doing?" Stefan asks Klaus.
"Failing." Klaus answers.
"It's hard to find something when you don't have anything to go on." Gloria defends.
"So use me. I only wore it for a thousand years." Rebekah suggests and sits at the table across from her.
"Now this one offers a solution." Gloria accepts. "Now give me your hand, sweetheart." Gloria guides and she offers her hand.
"She's looking for the necklace, huh?" Stefan questions and I can see he is starting becoming nervous again.
I glance at Stefan with a knowing smirk. Caroline seems to notice this and bumps me. "This should be interesting." I whisper.
Gloria continues to hold Rebekah's hand as she searches for the necklace. "I can sense something." Gloria murmurs.
Caroline turns her head to Stefan and can see he's worried. "He's a little worried." She whispers.
I chuckle a little as Klaus turns to face me and grins, he knows me to well and knows exactly what I'm thinking. It takes Gloria a few more minutes to find it. "I found it." She alerts.
"Where is it?" Rebekah asks.
"It doesn't work like that. I get images." She replies. "There's a girl with her friends."
"Yes, a dead girl with dead friends, if I don't get my necklace."
Caroline and I smile. "I will have to dive back in to get the details."
"So dive." Klaus orders.
"I need more time." Gloria demands as Klaus walks over to her and leans on the table. "And space, you're harshing my ju-ju."
"We can wait."
"I'm sure you can. But that's not what I asked."
"Hey, hey, you know, why don't we just come back later. I'm hungry anyway. I'll let you pick who we eat." Stefan persuades.
"Fine." Klaus agrees. "Let's go."
I'm currently sitting on a crate kicking my legs back and forth eating some fries as the vampires drain their meals. Rebekah drops her girl to the floor and walks over to me. "Does this ever gross you out?" She asks.
"At first it did, but I'm used to it, and I usually distract myself." I answer.
"Like eating that?"
"They're called French fries they go great with burgers, steak, and fish." I respond. "Would you like one?" I ask. She nods and I pass her my fries.
She takes one and puts one in her mouth. Her eyes go wide. "Shit." She mumbles.
"Human food." I laugh. "Now if you excuse me I need to use the restroom."
Klaus's head pops up from his meal. "Rebekah go with her." He orders.
"I can go on my own." I argue.
"I know that, but you never know who's around."
"I'll be back soon." I promise walking over to him. "You guys finish your meals and I'll be back."
"Fine, but if you are longer then 10 minutes I'm sending Caroline after you." He says and I roll my eyes and walk out of the warehouse.
Rebekah POV
"She's got spunk." I admit once Brie's left.
"She does, she keeps me on my toes." He agrees.
"Has she always been so honest and blunt?"
"Not always." Caroline answers. "Her sister used to bully her and it was hard for her to open up, but since she left a year ago, and met Klaus she's changed and I can see she's more confident now."
"You mean the doppleganger Klaus used in his sacrifice?" Rebekah questions.
"Yes."
"Wow, you were hungry." I mention to Stefan who has drained his meal dry.
"It's been a long day." He retorts.
"Try being related to her." Klaus jokes.
"Don't be mean." Caroline defends.
I smile. "Thank you Caroline."
She smiles. "Don't mention it, us girls have got to stick together."
"I get why Klaus is mean, he's my brother, but Stefan why are you being mean? You used to love me?"
"It's been ninety years, Rebekah. Give him a minute." Klaus advises.
"Why are you taking his side?"
"Because, my dear sister, I feel pity for any man who doesn't give you what you want."
"Will you stop making me out to be a brat, I'm not a brat!"
"A thousand years of life experience says otherwise." Klaus continues.
I huff in annoyance. "You're no picnic either." Stefan chimes in. "I've only spent one summer with you and I feel like I want to blow my head off."
Caroline and I laugh. "That's because you brood to much." Caroline retorts.
He glares at her and drops his girl to the ground. "I need to go."
"Where you going?" I ask.
"To write a name on a wall." Klaus answers.
"What?"
"It's a long story." Caroline responds.
Brie POV
As I walk out of the warehouse the Chicago breeze hits my face and I smile. I walk down the street and head towards the mall. I'm crossing the street when I hear people yelling. "Look out! Look out!"
I turn my head swiftly and see a car speeding towards me as I cross the road. I'm frozen in place and all I can see is the driver and its Katherine! She accelerates and I scream as she hits me and I go flying over the hood of the car and with a loud thud and land on the concrete and the car speeds off.
Rebekah POV
"It's a long story." Caroline responds as we hear a loud scream from outside.
Klaus's eyes flare up and he seems to know that scream as does Caroline. "Brie." Caroline alerts as we flash out of the warehouse.
Up ahead maybe a hundred meters away, we see a crowd of people huddled in the middle of the road.
We flash over and move betwwen the crowd and when we see the body on the ground with an arm in a different direction and eye the blonde hair we instantly realise it's Brie. "Brie." Klaus shouts.
"OMG." Caroline cries as we back people up.
"Brie." I call out.
I try and listen for a pulse as her eyes flash open and she gasps for breath and looks to be in pain. Nik is by her side in an instant. "Brie, if you hear me squeeze my hand love?" He pleads.
I've never seen my brother care for anyone like this ever, Brie must be special. I see her clench his hand. "Kat, Kat." she tries to say through the pain.
"What?" Caroline asks on her other side.
"Katherine." she whispers as her eyes shut.
Klaus doesn't hesitate and picks her up. "Did anyone see what happened?" Caroline asks the crowd loudly.
"All we saw was her crossing the road then the next minute a car came speeding towards her, she had no chance of moving." a stranger answers.
"Thank you, did anyone see the driver?" I ask.
"We saw a brunette with long hair."
Klaus's eyes flash yellow. "Katerina." He growls.
Klaus POV
We flash Brie back to the warehouse and I can barely hear her heartbeat. I bite into my wrist and open her mouth pouring my blood into her mouth. "Come on sweetheart, drink." I plead and at first she doesn't clasp on and I'm hoping my blood is getting into her somehow, but a minute later I feel her mouth close over my wound and she starts to suck. "That's it." I whisper.
"Klaus she whispered Katherine." Rebekah reminds me.
"She did, and I'm going to make sure that she pays for this." I promise.
Stefan walks into the warehouse and his eyes go wide when he see's Brie on the couch covered in blood and abriasions. "What happened?" He asks.
"Katherine happened." Rebekah growls.
"What?"
"She ran her over with a car when she was crossing the street." Caroline exclaims.
"OMG. When?"
"About 10 minutes ago." Rebekah answers.
"Did you see Katherine?"
"If I did she'd be dead." I growl.
"Klaus calm down, concentrate on Brie, we'll find Katherine." Rebekah assures.
Brie POV
I start coughing up blood and try to get my bairings. I sit up slowly. "Easy love." Nik guides.
My eyes flash to his and I breathe heavily. I quickly look myself over and see my arm is slowly healing. I have dried blood everywhere, I'm not feeling good. "Did that really just happen?" I question dazed.
"Unfortuanately yes." Caroline confirms with tears.
"I think I need to lie down."
He slowly helps me lie down and I'm having trouble focusing. "Do you remember anything?" Klaus asks.
"I was crossing the street when a car came speeding towards me. It happened so fast I had no time to move. It was Katherine." I relay looking up at him. "Hold me." I whisper.
He doesn't even hesitate and scoops in beside me and lies down next to me, pulling me towards him. I listen to his undead heart to keep myself from losing it. "Are you going to be okay Brie?" Care asks.
"I will be. Klaus's blood is slowly working." I respond. "How did Katherine know we were here?" I question and notice that Stefan has returned. "You're back."
"I am." He confirms.
"Where did you go?" Klaus asks Stefan agitated.
"To my old apartment."
"You left right after Brie left you didn't see anything?" Rebekah asks.
He shakes his head. "No."
"You sure, because it was not even five minutes and we heard a scream?" Caroline asks.
"I promise I didn't see."
I look at him and see a crease on his forehead, he does that when he lies. "You're lying." I declare.
"I'm not."
"Then why did I see you talking to Katherine this morning?" I question finally speaking up.
Everyone looks at him shocked and Klaus growls. "Stefan, is this true?" Rebekah asks.
"No." He lies again.
"You're lying again." Caroline shouts. "I saw you."
I sit up slowly and make it to my feet. I eventually do but when I go to take a step I stumble but Klaus catches me. I grab hold of him and turn to face Stefan angrily. "You've been lying to us all summer Stefan, when is it going to end?" I shout.
He shakes his head. "I'm not lying."
"Then why are you snooping around for Mikael?
Both Rebekah and Klaus growl and turn to face Stefan. "No, I'm not I swear, I'm not." He denies.
"He's lying." Rebekah glares.
"No I'm not."
"I always know when you're lying Stefan." she growls as Klaus flashes over and snaps his neck.
"Did he orchestrate this?" Caroline asks glaring at the temproaryily dead Stefan.
"I have no idea, but I think it's time we stopped playing his games." Klaus growls.
"What games?" Rebekah asks.
"All summer I thought he was hiding something, and when Stefan and Caroline payed a visit to warn his brother off our backs, Caroline heard someone." I answer.
"Who?"
"Elena, she somehow survived."
"So he's been trying to keep that from you?" She questions.
"Yes, and he thinks we don't know but Caroline told us."
"He knows where my necklace is doesn't he?"
"He gave it to Elena." I respond. "That was the girl Gloria was talking about."
"And is that why your hybrids arent working?" Rebekah asks Nik.
"Yes, I have a theory, but I think it's time to play with the scooby gang." Klaus grins.
"What are we going to do about Katherine, Stefan must have known about what she was doing, I did see them talking?" I ask.
"Don't worry about the doppleganger sweetheart, let's worry about what we are going to do to our lying aquaintance."
We are in the SUV driving back to Mystic Falls and I'm still sore from the accident. Klaus has been hovering over me all afternoon, and if he wasn't asking me how I'm feeling he is snapping Stefans neck in the van that's following us.
"Why are we back?" I ask.
"We have some people to confront about why my hybrids don't work." He answers.
"Can I at least be there when you are confronting Elena?"
"I'd rather you rest."
"Come on Nik, she's tougher than she looks." Rebekah chimes in. "She got hit by a fucking car and lived, she can take care of herself."
"I know she can, but she is still sore and drowsy."
"You'll have Caroline and I within ear shot, come on let her do this."
"Please?" I pout turning to face him.
"Fine, but the second I see you stumbling you're out." He agrees.
"Deal." I grin. "Now, what's the plan?"
We pull the car and the truck over and get out and I stretch my legs. "It feels like I was run over." I joke but they don't laugh. "What to soon?"
"Yes." they answer in unison.
We walk around to the back of the truck and climb inside. Stefan suddenly wakes up and turns to face us. "Just give me a chance to explain." He pleads.
"No need." Klaus responds. "But I'm curious, Brie seems to think you're holding onto something, a piece of your old life." Klaus addresses. "The thing is she reads people well and she has flawless instincts almost inhuman. So we thought we'd come check it out and see for ourselves what you've been hiding."
Caroline opens the back of the truck and grins. "Welcome back to Mystic Falls Stefan."
