Chapter Summary: Lloyd faces his stage fright and the Assembly turns into an Impromptu Field Trip.

Chapter One:

Lloyd drummed his fingers against his desk, his eyes darting to the clock that was hanging above the classroom door for what felt like the hundredth time since he had entered the math classroom. As if reading his mind, the intercom finally crackled to life. "Will the students that volunteered to help with the Assembly today please report to the Auditorium immediately. Thank you." Lloyd sprang out of his desk, hurriedly throwing all of his math supplies back into his rather worn out green backpack. "That by chance includes me, I promise to get my homework done, Ms. Cheng!" He sprinted out the door, snapping it shut behind him as he entered the mostly empty hallway.

Mostly meaning that his friend with stiff looking snow white hair was standing in the hallway, leaning against the lockers across from the classroom. "Are you ready for this, my friend?"

Lloyd hurried over, slapping a hand on his much taller friend's shoulder. "You know I am Zane. Let's go before Jay chickens out on us again."

"Hey! I heard that!" Jay materialized behind Lloyd, a mock pout on his lips.

Lloyd and Zane both chuckled, before leading the way down to the Auditorium. Pushing the large doors open, they walked in to see the Head Museum Curator, Dr. Saunders, in a deep conversation with the school principal already. The vice-principal noticed that they had entered the room and hurried over to them, the rest of their friends right behind him. "Ah! Good, you're here. Now then, you'll be playing right before our guest speaker gets up and explains what the latest exhibit at the museum is and what is so special about it. Think you can play something to arouse the student body's love of history?" He fingered his brown tie, worry creasing his features as if he was more worried that this assembly would put the students to sleep but didn't dare question the principal.

Lloyd considered pointing out to him that there was no such song, but had the opportunity taken from him when Nya spoke up. "Mr. Von Brown, no one will complain if you ever decide to tell Mr. Principalem that he really doesn't know how to plan an Assembly that we, as the students, will enjoy."

Dareth Von Brown spluttered at that for a minute, before pointing to where Cole's old man had dropped off their instruments. "Just go practice until it's time to start. I'm sure you already have the song down and things, but the boss is insisting that you need to have extra practice."

"Will do." Lloyd and his friends mock saluted the vice principal, before going over to the instruments that had Spin Harmony spray painted on them. Lloyd nervously tapped the microphone, wincing as the feedback blared back at him.

"Ready?" Kai readjusted his guitar in his hands, glancing over at Cole who was sitting behind the drums.

Cole nodded in confirmation, already twirling his drumsticks in his hands. "It's up to the kid if we're ready to go though… I think he has bigger stage fright than Jay."

"Do not!" Lloyd bristled as he turned to glare at his friends.

This just led to them bursting out laughing at his expense. Lloyd playfully stuck his tongue out, before Cole began to rhythmically slam his drumsticks into his drums. Kai's fingers flew as he plucked at the strings on his guitar, while Zane shredded his bass. Jay bounced slightly as his fingers slammed into the electric keyboard, Nya tapping her tambourine to the beat that Cole was laying down for them to follow. Lloyd took a deep breath, before grabbing the mike in both hands. "A friend for life That's what you are to me A friend for life That's what you are to me I couldn't see what was Right there in front of me Turned my back Got my mind off track Yeah You saw a world that was Something new entirely Helped me to see All the possibilities Oooohhhhh… Like a star in the daylight Or like a diamond at night Your light was hidden From my sight A friend for life That's what you are to me A friend for life That's what you are to me Every friendship is tested You say you're sincere But it's all unclear now But with a word Everything changes And just like that You and I are right back Oohhh… Like a star in the daylight (Star in the daylight) Or like a diamond at night (Diamond at night) Your light will shine When the time is right A friend for life That's what you are to me A friend for life That's what you are to me When I put my hand out And I thought I would fall You knew what I needed And you came around To fix it all A friend for life That's what you are to me A friend for life That's what you are to me A friend for life That's what you are to me (Like a star in the daylight) A friend for life That's what you are to me (Like a diamond at night) That's what you are to me."

Lloyd looked back at his friends, seeing the grins that crossed all of their faces, Nya grinning as she took a step back. "I think that went great."

Kai snorted as he reached over and playfully smacked his sister in the back of the head. "You think!? Having you sing backup was the best idea we've ever had since Robotics Club for you and Jay!"

Zane frowned, his fingers gripping his bass guitar tightly as he glanced over at Kai, puzzlement dancing in his eyes. "Kai… we had that idea when we were in kindergarten and I believe we have had several wonderful ideas since then."

Groans escaped the others, even as Cole leaned across his drum set to whisper something to Zane, though they could still all hear him still. "Dude… he was making a joke."

"Oh...hahaha?" Zane glanced quizzically over at Kai, as if checking that it was alright for him to laugh now.

Kai shook his head at him, even as students started to flow into the room. Lloyd reckoned that meant that they must have played over the sound of the bell ringing. A fact that left his hands feeling rather sweaty… "Lloyd? Can you please breathe for us?" Jay clapped a hand on his shoulder, clearly already moving to the seats that the school staff had reserved for them.

Lloyd gave his head a quick shake, gulping in a large amount of air. "Sorry… I'm good. Honest."

"You sure? Cause if we have too… Kai has prepared to sing for you if you need it." Nya reminded him as she nodded to her older brother who was slowly lowering his guitar to the ground.

Lloyd could feel his cheeks burn at the implication that he couldn't perform with the rest of his friends, quickly shaking his head at them. "I've got this. Don't worry about me, worry about Jay!" He gestured at his usually talkative friend, trying to get attention off of him.

"If you say so…. Just remember, we will stop playing if you throw up or faint." Cole thumped him on the back as the drummer slipped past to claim one of the seats that the school staff had saved for them.

Lloyd swallowed hard as he followed his friends off of the stage, hoping that there wouldn't be a reason why they would have to stop mid performance. "Let's sit down already. Looks like Mr. Principalem is ready to welcome the school to the Assembly."

"... And thus we can deduce the fact that the Dragon Egg Gemstones originated about a thousand years ago, and are very advanced for that time period. Questions?" Dr. Saunders looked around the school Auditorium, unaware that he had just put the majority of the student body, and a few of the staff, to sleep.

Lloyd quickly elbowed Kai to wake him, vaguely aware of Jay doing the same thing to Cole. Nya had spent the entire lecture, uh, assembly, reading the latest comic book. Zane shifted in his seat, tilting his head in a silent question. Lloyd quickly shook his head at him, signaling him that now was not the time or place. When no one raised their hands, and, disappointingly enough, no crickets chirped in the silence that followed, Mr. Principalem got up and stepped onto the stage. "Thank you for such an enlightening speech Dr. Saunders." Turning to face the student body, he then made an announcement that made everyone groan in dismay. "Due to the fact that the Museum is literally just across the street from us, we will conclude this assembly by going over there now and seeing these fantastic Dragon Egg Gems. Grab a buddy and move out! I want to see smiles on those faces!"

Nya rolled her eyes, before turning to face the rest of her friends. "Great… why can't he listen to the entire student body and have Mr. Von Brown plan all of the Assemblies? Why, I remember this one assembly last year where to help get students excited about the changes to the school, Mr. Von Brown had two different garage bands battle it out to see who was the better one, and then there was the cheerleaders and dance club dance off. And everyone's still talking about the rogue robot attack. I mean, it was obviously staged, but it definitely still held our attention. Mr. Von Brown just knows how to throw an assembly."

"Yeah… but the only reason why he was in charge of that one was cause Mr. Principalem was away on vacation at the time." Jay shrugged as they moved with the crowd to the exit.

Lloyd didn't say anything, trying his hardest to blend in with the rest of the crowd. Maybe Dr. Saunders didn't see him..? "Ah… there you are young Lloyd. I must say, while I am pleased with this discovery, I almost wish that your mother was one of the archaeologists working on it, instead of that silly project out in Hiroshi's Labyrinth. I highly doubt anything of importance will ever be discovered out there, a waste of her talents." Dr. Saunders suddenly appeared at Lloyd's side, dropping a hand down on his shoulder as a sign of camaraderie.

Lloyd could feel himself just about melt at the special attention, knowing that everyone else most likely noticed as well. As if his life wasn't difficult without everyone associating him as the boy whose mother wrote the school history textbooks. "Hi Dr. Saunders. Didn't see you there…" Lloyd glanced hopefully over at his friends for help, only to realize that the only that hadn't picked a partner out of their little group for the trip to the Museum, was Zane and he…. wasn't the kind of friend that would pick up normal social clues to realize that he was in need of rescuing.

As if to prove his point, Zane eagerly stuck a hand out to shake hands with Dr. Saunders. "I must say it is a pleasure to meet you Dr. Saunders! I am a fan of your work!"

"Oh really? I am afraid that I don't do much…" Dr. Saunders tried to brush off his duties as the largest museum in the country's Head Museum Curator.

Zane smiled as he shook hands with him, before turning to face Lloyd. "I am afraid that the others have already teamed up. Would you mind terribly if I join you my friend?"

"Go right ahead Z… I'm already dying from embarrassment as is." Lloyd muttered under his breath, before moving to follow the rest of his friends out the door and to the wide open city air.

Lloyd had to give it to Dr. Saunders. He at least knew how to keep the students attention once out of the school and in his territory. Mainly because he just stood there and had the six gigantic egg shaped gems speak for themselves. Lloyd shoved his hands into his pockets, eyeing the green/gold, electric blue, fiery red, snowy white, dark brown, and maroon/cyan colored gems, noting that his mother was most likely furious that she had missed out on this finding.

Mr. Principalem wove his way through the large crowd to the front, quickly waving his hands in the air to get everyone's attention. "Attention please! A thunderstorm, one that wasn't supposed to arrive until tomorrow, just rolled in. It hasn't started raining yet… however I would like to get back before it does!" No sooner than the words left his mouth that there was a loud bang as thunder roared just outside the window, lightning flashing so close that it lit up the entire room.

"Think he's a bit late for that…" Kai muttered as he pulled his leather jacket over to cover his head, as if that would stop him from getting wet on the walk back to school.

Lloyd opened his mouth to ask if his hydrophobia was getting to him, when Zane suddenly spoke up. "Excuse me, Dr. Saunders...but are the Dragon Egg Gems supposed to do that?"

All eyes turned to see that as the thunder boomed once again, the Gems pulsed with some sort of light from within them.

Dr. Saunders frowned, confusion crossing his features. "That's rather odd… It's almost as if the Gems are some kind of power source…" Before he could finish his sentence, there was an extra loud boom, followed by the lights going out.

An ear-splitting scream that sounded suspiciously like a girl erupted on Lloyd's right side, much to his chagrin. "Jay… it's just a blackout." He swatted at his friend, even as the Gems pulsed again...growing brighter this time around. Memorized, they watched as the gems continued to pulse, growing brighter with each one… until with an even louder boom the thunder shook the building, and the gems flashed so brightly that it blinded Lloyd and his friends as they stumbled backwards…. And then it was all over with. Lloyd blinked rapidly as he glanced around the museum, sure that he was just imagining this. The storm was just...gone and the lights were on as if nothing had happened. In fact, the only signal that what just happened really did was the fact that the Gems appeared to be duller than they had been earlier.

Mr. Principalem cleared his throat, clearly nervous about whatever just happened. "Let's get back to school. You all have classes to get to." He ushered the student body out of the museum, no one noticing that the dragons stitched on the back of six leather jackets were now pulsing with light.

An elderly lady flipped her long graying braid back, shifting through a pile of dirt that appeared to have fragments of...something in it. The archaeologist was the best in her business, if her record was anything to go by.

"Dr. Garmadon! You might wanna see this!" A fellow, though much younger, archaeologist called out to her suddenly, drawing her attention immediately.

Misako Garmadon quickly wiped her hands on her pants as she walked over to her coworker. "What is it Micheal? Did someone plant another fake artifact for you to fi…" Her voice broke off as she stared at the large temple that most definitely hadn't been there earlier. "Call Dr. Saunders...tell him it looks like we struck gold."

A/N: Here you go! Hope you enjoyed it! Okay... I only have the next chapter partially written. Sorry... here I was thinking maybe I could stay ahead on this story. Oh well. Oh! The Principal's name is just Principal in another language...but I forget which one... sorry!

Almost forgot! I do not own the song! It belongs to the creators of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls! Sorry! Won't forget again!

Guest: Thank you! Hopefully it goes as I have planned... stories have a tendency to get away from me, ya know? So far everything is going according to plan though so I'm not too worried about it.
