Chapter Summary: Strange things begin happening around the friends once they are released from the Hospital. Meanwhile an elderly lady discovers the Dragon Egg Gems in the Museum...

Chapter Three:

"So...did anyone bother doing their homework last night?" Kai shifted his backpack on his shoulders as he skated towards the high school.

Lloyd groaned at that, his mind briefly flashing to his return home the night before. None of them had worked on their homework while in the hospitable, due to the fact that the doctors were running so many tests on them. "I may have forgotten about it..."

"Oh good...not just me since apparently someone finished it before school let out that day." Kai sighed with relief, ignoring the glare that his sister promptly sent his way.

"You should try doing your homework when you have free time at school instead of goofing off!" Nya snapped, eyes flashing in warning.

Kai gulped visibly at that, before pushing off against the sidewalk quickly to make his skateboard go faster. The rest of the six friends hurried after him, sending their skateboards skimming quickly after him. It honestly looked like everything was back to normal...

Cole fumbled with his locker, even as the bell rang to signal that he only had five minutes to get to class. Grumbling to himself, he yanked extra hard on the door... the old metal door, which in truth had been needing new hinges for a while now, popped right off its hinges. "Oh come on! I thought the janitor had fixed this already!" He shoved his things into the now doorless locker, before gathering the things he needed for his morning classes. As he spoke, the janitor, an elderly man that always kept his face covered for some reason, appeared behind him silently, staring at the broken locker...

Nya tucked the glittery hall pass under her arm, stopping next to the drinking fountain. Nya leaned forward, quickly palming the button that would allow a small stream of water be in her grasp. A gasp of shock escaped her when instead of the usually small stream the small faucet was blown off due the force of the water, drenching her and the floor instantly. "Aaaaah!" She screamed loudly, stumbling away from the water fountain. The second her hand left the button, it slowed down the small stream that she had been originally expecting. Glancing down at her soaked outfit, she groaned loudly. "Great! How come no one put a sign up warning us that the fountain was broken!?"

The janitor appeared behind her, thoughtfully rubbing his chin as he stared at the large puddle of water around the water fountain...

Kai sprinted across the gym, eyes narrowing as he tracked where the two football players in his P.E. class were located. The two of them have been giving him a hard time all semester, and he desperately didn't want to deal with them today... The smoke alarm suddenly went off, loudly enough that it sounded like it was right in his ear. Falling backwards, he glanced up to see that the smoke alarm had been right above him.

The coach muttered something under his breath, even as he turned to yell at the others. "Outside! Now! This is not a drill!"

"You beat it isn't! We just had one last week!" One of the football players hollered as he rolled his eyes skyward.

Kai sprinted outside, following the rest of his class as the hurried outside, the coach bringing up the rear to make sure that no one was left behind. The janitor slipped into the rapidly emptying gym, his eyes flickering between Kai and the smoke alarm...

"Finally...time for lunch with my friends." Zane smiled cheerfully as he opened his locker door. What he saw when he looked into the locker made him promptly cry out in dismay. Ice literally covered everything in sight. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he remembered that his locker was located pretty close to one of the school's A.C.s, one that was even in need of a tune up, but he never had it freeze the inside of his locker before! Realizing that he was drawing attention, much unwanted attention to himself, Zane broke his lunchbox and two textbooks for his afternoon classes out of the locker, before hurriedly locking it back up.

The janitor tugged on the brim of his straw hat, a smile flickering under his kerchief as he stared at the frozen locker...

Lloyd fidgeted with the potato battery that's been sitting in his locker for his turn to present his science project to the rest of the class. "Right, so I made this battery out of a potato since, obviously, that will be the next thing to harness energy from..." Lloyd shifted uncomfortably, before reaching for the keyboard that was attached to the light bulb that the potato was plugged into. "So if you look at the screen here, I can only get it to do a dim glow...hold on let me turn on the light..." The second Lloyd flicked the switch, a dim glow emitted from the light bulb. "Right...uh...as you can tell by the data that my computer is picking up...um..." Lloyd paused to wipe at his forehead, wishing that the bell would ring, thus ending his turn. A loud warning beep coming from his computer startled him. Glancing down at the screen, his eyes widened as he realized two things. First starters, the light bulb was rapidly growing brighter...second off according to the data he was receiving, the potato battery was giving off too energy for the bulb to handle for much longer. "Duck!" Lloyd dove for cover, as well as his classmates and teacher upon realizing that something had gone wrong with his project. They had barely taken cover when both the light bulb and the computer blew up, sending glass shards everywhere.

"I...better call the janitor to come clean this up..." His science teacher blinked rapidly, staring blankly at the mess that used to be her desk.

Lloyd shrank back, his heart thudding loudly in his chest as he wondered whatever went wrong..? The janitor slipped into the room, already prepared to clean up the mess as he stepped up and started to throw the destroyed project away into the heavy duty trash can he had brought with him...

Jay sighed as he flopped down in front of the school computer. He was still working on earning enough money to buy himself his own laptop, which meant that for his English paper that was due the next day, he had to use the school's computers...as well as everyone else that was unlucky enough to not own their own laptop computer. Tapping at the computer, he quickly accessed his flashdrive to pull up his mostly finished paper. His eyes widened as he scrolled to the bottom and realized a really bad thing... "I forgot to save the last two pages! Great! Now I'm three pages short!" He slammed his hand on the bare bit of table next to him. There was an instate bang sound, right before the library lost all power. Jay groaned, dropping his head down to smack it against the table. "Today...is so not my day..."

The janitor entered the darkened library, shining a bright flashlight around the room, stopping suddenly to stare at the smoke that rose from the hard-drive from a specific computer. "Interesting..."

The museum was slow at the time... which it makes sense seeing as it was a Monday afternoon and there were no planned school tours. A small smile crossed the hunched over elderly lady as she shuffled along, tightly clasping her grip on the walker she was using. Pausing, she stopped in front of the newest exhibit. Glancing around, she pulled out a small camera that she had hidden in her large swinging purse. Straightening, she lifted her hand up, snapping several pictures as she did so. A frown crossed her features as she noted something about the exhibit. "Time to contact an old friend..."

"Please tell me that I'm not the only one that's having to deal with bad luck today?" Lloyd pleaded as he plopped unceremoniously on his couch.

"I finally broke that old locker door that I've been fighting the janitor about before first hour happened." "Second hour I left to get a drink and the fountain broke on me! Water everywhere!" "Third hour P.E. was normal...up until the smoke alarm went off suddenly in my ear." "The A.C. next to my locker has finally frozen the inside of my locker, I found that out when I went to grab my lunch." "The library had a freak black out when I was supposed to be working on my paper in fifth hour. Why?"

Lloyd scratched the back of his neck, frustration dancing in his eyes. "My project blew up in fourth hour."

Cole rolled his eyes skyward, "Chin up guys. So what we had a bad start to the week. How much worse can it get?"

Lloyd's phone dinged, signaling that he had just received an email. Lloyd quickly tapped it open, scanning its contents. His face paled, even as he slowly raised his head back up. "Mom and her crew haven't been seen, or heard from, since Friday afternoon..."

"And it just got worse." Jay groaned as he slumped down.

A/N: Done! Hmm, whatcha know! Very interesting start to the week! Technically supposed to be working on another story, but I can't concentrate on it for the live of me! So...questions to think about! What's been happening with the friends!? What's up with the old lady pretending to be an invalid at the museum, and what did she mean when she said that it was time to contact an old friend!? Also... who is the janitor?! (Cookies to anyone that can correctly answer all three!)
