Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon.

Stepping onto the beginning road of Route 1, I looked down at Pikachu before deciding to see what I was working with.

Pulling out my Pokédex I opened it up to instantly see a scan button. Aiming the back of Pokédex towards Pikachu, I pressed the button and was greeted with a nice amount of information.

Pikachu, The Mouse Pokémon.

It stores electricity in the electric sacs on its cheeks. When it releases pent-up energy in a burst, the electric power is equal to a lightning bolt.

This Pikachu is male and has the ability Static, which If a Pokémon with Static is hit by a move making contact, there is a 30% chance the foe will become paralyzed.

Move set - Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, and Quick Attack.

This Pikachu is average in size.

I hummed at the information that I was given. The move set did raise a question for me though. Do Pokémon only have access to 4 moves like the game?

This would be something that I would have to investigate more later.

"Alright Pikachu, you've got a good move set to start off with, though our first Gym Battle will be against a rock type, so we will need to train you up some more."

Pikachu looked at me confused.

"Oh, was it the Gym Battle that confused you?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Okay, so trainers challenge the Gym Leaders at their respective Gyms in order to earn Badges. If a Trainer earns eight Badges from one region, they become eligible to enter that region's Pokémon League Conference. The Kanto regions Conference is known as the Indigo Conference. I guess you can say they are kind of like a test but for battling."

I looked at the sky and kept my gaze on the clouds

"That's what I want to aim for right now. See how far I can get in the Indigo Conference, but at the end of the day it's up to you if you want to join me on that goal." I said looking down at Pikachu.

He caught my eyes with his own and let out a noise of approval with a nod causing me to smile.

"Alright then, let's keep going onwards to Viridian."

We kept walking and eventually I noticed a small red bird inside the grass. I quickly made the decision to ignore it all together, I was not trying to deal with a whole horde of Spearow and not messing with it would prevent its grudge towards me being formed like it did in the show.

Coming out of a section of the Route, I noticed a girl around my age with orange hair fishing. I recognized her as Misty, one of the people that Ash traveled with during the show and one of the current Cerulean City Gym Leaders.

It's not that I hated her, but I didn't like her either. If I was being honest, I really didn't want to travel with her. Thinking about it now, I may not even want to travel with anyone other than Brock. For now, I could at least gain some experience and battle her.

"Hey." I called out.

The water type specialist snapped her head towards me and glared.

"Be quiet, you're going to scare the Pokémon away." she hissed.

I raised my hand

"My bad, I was just wondering if you wanted to have a small battle."

She looked at me quizzically before sighing and getting up.

"Fine, no Pokémon have been biting anyways and I doubt they will now." she huffed.

"Um, okay the names Ash, 1 on 1?" I asked.

"Yea that's fine, my name is Misty." she said back.

I nodded and turned towards Pikachu.

"Alright buddy, this is our first battle together, you up for it?"

Pikachu sparked some electricity from his cheeks and leaped in front of me into the small clearing eager to battle causing me to smile.

Misty looked at Pikachu before grabbing a Poké Ball. In a flash of red light came out a star like Pokémon with a red eye directly in the middle of its body. I recognized it as a Staryu.

Pulling out my Pokédex, I quickly scanned it.

Staryu, The Star Shape Pokémon

Staryu apparently communicates with the stars in the night sky by flashing the red core at the center of its body. If parts of its body are torn, this Pokémon simply regenerates the missing pieces and limbs.

Potential Abilities are Natural Cure, which cures all the status problems of the Pokémon when switched out or Analytic, which powers up the move of the Pokémon if they moved last.

I grinned at that. The Pokédex letting me know the potential abilities of Pokémon I faced would be extremely helpful.

Seeing as one of those abilities was useless in a 1 on 1 battle, I would let Misty have the first move just in case it did have the Analytic ability.

"You can start off." I called out to Misty.

"Alright Staryu, use Water Gun." she said loudly.

Staryu pulled its body back before unleashing a jet of water towards Pikachu.

"Move to the side." I said calmy despite my nervousness. This was my first battle after all.

Pikachu quickly dashed out of the way.

"Staryu, quick fire off multiple Water Guns."

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack to avoid them and go for Staryu." I spoke.

Pikachu quickly became a blur and managed to avoid all the blasts of water before slamming into the star fish Pokémon with high velocity.

Staryu was shot backwards and able to land gracefully after the attack.

"Use Water Pulse and follow through with Rapid Spin."

Staryu unleashed a pulsing blast of water towards Pikachu, who leaped out of the way of the attack before being smacking by a spinning Staryu.

Pikachu slammed into the ground before quickly pulling himself up.

"Thunder Shock."

Gather electricity in his cheeks, Pikachu unleashed a stream of electricity towards Staryu, who rapidly spun away from the attack.

"Staryu rapid fire Water Gun."

"Pikachu get close with Quick Attack and then use Thunder Wave."

Following both commands, Staryu let of multiple blast of water towards the yellow mouse who in turn activated quick attack to leap through the streams of water before releasing a jolt of electricity towards the water type.

Staryu had no time to dodge and was quickly rendered paralyzed by the attack.

"Staryu get out of there." said a worried Misty.

"Thunder Shock again."

Staryu got up to avoid the attack but was to slow and was instantly fried with the super effective electric attack.

"Staryu use Recover."

In clear pain the star like Pokémon began to glow with the healing move.

Deciding to take advantage of the occupied Pokémon, I called for Pikachu to use Quick Attack, who reacted quickly with the order and rushed towards the recovering water type with high-speed smacking into it.

"Finish it with one more Thunder Shock." I called out.

Pikachu once more gathered the electricity and quickly unleashed it on Staryu who tried to avoid the attack but was hit with the paralysis effect causing it to be hit directly.

Staryu was quick to fall to the ground unconscious once the electric attack finished.

I felt a burning feeling of happiness. This was so much different than playing the games. The satisfaction from winning a battle was overwhelming.

I walked towards Pikachu and bent down towards him.

"Good job buddy, you did great!" I said happily.

Pikachu smiled at the acknowledgment.

Looking towards Misty, she had a sour look on her face as she recalled Staryu.

"Good battle." I called out.

"Yea, I need to work with Staryu more. Well, I've got to go to the Pokémon Center now, so I'll see you around." she said as she began to walk towards her bike.

I watched her as she rode away and thought what to do next.

Team Rocket would be attacking the Pokémon Center tonight. If everything went like canon, then Pikachu would end up blasting them away which would be the cause for them to hunt us down. I didn't know if I wanted that as Team Rocket had attacked Ash at bad moments. On the other hand, they were useful at times and some of Ash's Pokémon did end up evolving when facing them.

So, the question was do I deal with Team Rocket and risk the chance of them pursuing me relentlessly, but gain experience from those encounters, or just avoid them all together and hope that someone else comes along to stop them.

Well, I'd at least go to the Pokémon Center and help if they do attack, but I'll try to tone down the damage that happened to at least make their desire for Pikachu lowered.

As my thoughts carried me away, I felt the drop of rain on my skin. Deciding to move on I once again went towards the direction of Viridian City.

Once the rain slowed down and the sun began to go down, I saw the Pokémon that I was expecting to see. Despite knowing that it should arrive, it was still incredibly beautiful. As it soared across the sky and over the rainbow, I pulled out my Pokédex to scan it and got the expected response.

There is no data. There are still Pokémon yet to be identified.

Putting the red device away, I began my walk towards Viridian.

Reaching the entrance of Viridian, I used the map function on my Pokédex to locate the Pokémon Center, night had already fallen, and once I reached about half ways to my destination, I was stopped by an Officer Jenny in a motorcycle.

"Excuse me young man, but does that Pikachu belong to you?" she asked me.

"Yea he does." I replied.

"Well do you have any form of identification? There have been reports of Team Rock activity in this area."

I quickly pulled out my Pokedex and handed it to her.

I am Dexter, a Pokédex programmed by Professor Oak for Pokémon Trainer Ash Ketchum of the town of Pallet. My function is to provide Ash with information and advice regarding Pokémon and their Training. If lost or stolen, I cannot be replaced.

"Sponsored by Professor Oak huh." she said with a raised eyebrow.

I nodded with a smile.

"Well, continue on then, but if you see anything suspicious report it to the authorities.

I nodded and a thought come to my mind.

"Well actually I think I saw a huge blimp that looked like a Meowth headed over to the direction of the Pokémon Center, I don't know if that would mean anything to you though.

Officer Jennys eyes narrowed at that.

"Hm, you said that you were heading over to the Pokémon Center, right?" she asked.

I nodded.

"Alright well, I can give you a ride then and check things out just in case." she said.

"Thanks, I'd appreciate it." I replied while I hopped into the side car connected to her motorcycle with Pikachu jumping onto my lap.

She sped off at quick speed towards the Pokémon Center.

Once the sight of the Pokémon Center came into view, we both saw the blimp placed on top of the Pokémon Center.

Quickly breaking to a stop in front of the Center. We hopped off and rushed inside.

We both ran inside to see 2 people in Team Rocket uniforms that I instantly recognized as James and Jessie with their Koffing and Ekan's out.

Officer Jenny quickly grabbed a Poké Ball and released a Growlithe.

"What do you 2 think you are doing?" she asked with a hard glare.

James turned towards her and simply replied.

"We're here for the Pokémon."

"Oh, is that right?" she asked.

"Meowth, that's right!" said the cat Pokémon.

I grinned as I pulled out an empty Poké Ball and threw it at the talking Pokémon who was too shocked at the action to dodge.

He was instantly pulled into the ball which kept shaking for a little while before bursting open.

"YOU LITTLE TWERP." said a furious Meowth.

Both James and Jessie snapped their heads towards me and glared.

"What, talking Pokémon must be rare no?" I asked innocently.

Meowth growled and charged towards me intending to scratch me with his claws but was cut of short by a bolt of electricity by Pikachu.

Pikachu quickly took a place in front of me and sparked his cheeks.

"Ekan's, use Wrap on that damn mouse." Jessie shouted.

"Pikachu, Thunder Shock."

As the Ekan rushed forward, Pikachu let loose a blast of electricity that caused the snake to shriek.

In the corner of my eye, I saw a steam of flames going towards the Koffing.

Focusing back onto my battle, Ekan's shot off a set of poison stings towards Pikachu who hopped out of the way only to be smacked down midair by Meowth who came out of nowhere.

I groaned, 2 on 1 huh.

"Pikachu, keep your feet ready. They're going to coordinate attacks so watch out." I called to the little mouse.

"Use bite." said Jessie.

Ekan slithered forward and leaped towards Pikachu with its mouse opened wide. Pikachu jumped out of the way before leaping over a clawed attack from Meowth.

He quickly gathered electricity before shooting it towards Meowth who rolled out of the way. Ekan's leaped towards him with fangs ready once again but was cut off by a burst of water.

I looked to the side to see Misty and a purple starfish that I recognized as Starmie, the evolved form of Staryu.

Sighing in relief that she was still around here. I turned back to see Meowth charging Pikachu once again.

"Use Thunder Wave."

Meowth was quickly covered in electricity, paralyzing him instantly. Pikachu took the opportunity to send another attack of Thunder Shock towards the cat instantly causing him to shriek.

Looking to my right, I saw Koffing being blown back by another burst of flames knocking him out by James's feet. The same happened on my other said with a blast of psychic energy knocking out Ekan's.

"Great job Pikachu." I called out to my partner.

After the Pokémon were knocked out, Officer Jenny tied up both James and Jessie, who kept cursing us out. We waited until a group of other Officers came in to take them away.

"Hey, thanks for helping out right there." I said towards Misty.

She looked towards me and smiled.

"Yea, no problem. Honestly, if you and Officer Jenny hadn't come in, they would of most likely overpowered my Pokémon. Staryu was still being healed up from our battle and Starmie was my only other Pokémon with me." she replied.

"Why do you have 2 Pokémon of the same line?" I asked.

She smiled sheepishly at me.

"I was given one and caught the other on accident. There was a Poliwag that I was trying to capture but..." she trailed off.

I started chuckling at that.

"So, water type specialist or...?" I asked knowing the answer.

"Yea, I want to become a Water Master. How about you?" she said as she began scratching Pikachu behind the ear getting a happy sound from the yellow mouse.

"Honestly, right now I don't know. For now, I'm going to focus on doing my best in the Indigo League and then after gaining some experience then I'll decide on what I really want to do." I replied after a moment of thought.

"Ah, so running the Kanto circuit huh." she said.

"Yea, I'm heading towards Pewter tomorrow morning."

"So, you're going through the Viridian Forest tomorrow?" she asked eagerly.

"Yea."

"Do you think I can head through it with you. I'm going to be honest and say I kind of have a fear for bugs so I'd rather go through the forest with another person if that's okay with you." she said shyly.

I thought about it for a moment. Misty seemed to be more mature here, or maybe it was with the fact that I hadn't blown up her bike. This world may be a lot different than the one I watched. She could help me out with things I don't understand. Besides it may only last till Pewter and I could always decide to head on my own after if things don't work out.

"Yea that's fine, I'm going to start heading over around 9 in the morning, so we can meet up in the cafeteria around 8ish for breakfast if that's cool with you." I answered.

"Yea, that's fine with me thanks." she said with a large smile.

"Alright then."

Officer Jenny walked up towards both of us with her Growlithe in toll.

"We'll be taking both of those grunts into questioning, but I just wanted to offer my thanks for helping me take them down." she said towards us.

"No problem, Officer Jenny." Misty said towards her.

"Well then have a good night you two, I'll be heading back now." she said with a wave as her and Growlithe began to walk away.

"Ima head to be too, I'll see you in the morning Misty." I said towards the red head.

"Alright goodnight, Ash." she said back.

Line

Early the next morning, Misty and I were ready to head out for Viridian Forest. We both had our Pokémon checked out by Nurse Joy and I was also able to register for the Indigo League. Stopping by the Pokémart to buy some repel, potions and food for Pikachu, I had everything I needed for the trip to Pewter City.

"Okay, so according to the Pokédex the trip through Viridian Forest should last 2-3 days. Are you prepared for it?" I asked Misty.

"Yup, I'm ready." she replied.

"Alright then. Let's get going."

Walking through the dark forest, Misty kept very close to me and would jump at any sound that we heard. In all honesty, it was very funny. Pikachu had been snickering for more than half the walk already.

"So, what happened that made you so scared of bugs anyways?" I asked. I never recalled if that was explained in the show.

"Ah well, bugs are just really creepy to me. I've always been afraid since I was little." she said.

"Well, have you thought about what would happen if you come across a bug type that was also a water type." I asked.

She froze at that.

"A-are there actually dual types of those?" she asked nervously.

"Yup, I believe there is one in Hoenn, and a couple in Alola. Also, if you freak out in whenever seeing a bug then what would happen if you battle a bug type specialist. Would you freeze in battle?"

Misty seemed deep in thought at that.

"Everyone has their faults, and some will only hold you back. So, if you really want to become a Master Water type specialist then this is something that you'll have to overcome. Don't worry though, I bet there are plenty of people who have similar fears and have or are trying to overcome them as we speak." I said with a small smile towards her.

"W-well do you have any suggestions of how I could overcome my fear?" she asked quietly.

I thought for a moment and smiled as a I spotted a small green worm like Pokémon by a tree. Perhaps that's the same one.

"Alright, you see that Caterpie right there? Catch it and raise it." I said firmly.

She saw the Caterpie and her face lost all color then looked at me as if I was insane.

"What?" she asked shocked.

"Catch the Caterpie, then spend some time with it as one of your own and it'll help you overcome your fear. I doubt you'll even need to battle it, just a simple Poké ball should be enough."

She slowly nodded and pulled out a Poké ball. She took a few deep breaths and slowly raised the Poké ball and threw it towards the unexpected bug type.

A few shakes and one ding later, and I had officially changed canon. Misty caught the Pokémon that original Ash caught first.

Thinking about that now, I wonder what would happen with Jessie and James. Would they be able to break out and if they did would they even come after me? I guess only time will tell.

"Good job, now just every day spend some time with it. You don't have to spend a few hours with it every day or at least not right now, but slowly as the days come by spend more time with it."

"O-okay, I see where you're coming from. This will be good for me." she said

"Anyways, Caterpie aren't really known for their strength and they don't have any poison points like Weedle. Also, Butterfree are pretty Pokémon, so it won't be as bad as catching a Beedrill, Pinsir, or something."

"Well, then let's get going."

Walking down the path of the forest, we came across a large bird that I recognized as Pidgeotto.

Well here goes my first attempt at a capture I thought.

"Pikachu, let's try to capture this Pokémon right here." I said towards my partner.

He nodded and hopped in front of the pathway.

The Pidgeotto looked towards us and its eyes locked on Pikachu.

"Alright Pikachu, use Thunder Shock."

Pikachu unleashed a blast of electricity towards the bird Pokémon who flew into air. Pidgeotto sent a strong gust of air that hit Pikachu sending him backwards. It even made me lose my footing.

The flying type gathered speed in a quick motion and went straight for Pikachu. Pikachu barely jumped out of the way.

Pidgeotto made a sharp turn, but heading towards Pikachu again as its wings began to glow dark.

"Pikachu, jump to the side and then use Thunder Shock again."

Pikachu jumped to the side of the bird and then sent another shot of electricity towards it earning a shriek of pain from the flying type.

The bird slammed into the ground hard.

I grabbed an empty Poké ball from my belt and threw it towards the flying type. Pidgeotto was pulled into the ball.

The Poké ball shook a lot more than the one that caught Caterpie, but eventually dinged.

I smiled as I went towards the ball and picked it up.

"Good job." Misty said with a smile.

"Thanks, it must be pretty strong to evolve by itself in the wilderness." I said.

"Yea, even though the forest is full of bug types, even with its advantage most of the bugs are weak so it won't get a lot of experience." commented Misty.

I released my new Pokémon in flash of red light in front of me.

"Hey Pidgeotto, my name is Ash and I just caught you. I'm looking to build a powerful team and think that you could help me out." I spoke.

The birds gaze landed on me and looked at me intensely. The bird nodded at my comment.

"Alright, I'm going to check you out with my Pokédex." I said as I pulled my red device out and scanned it.

Pidgeotto, The Bird Pokémon and evolved form of Pidgey.

It has outstanding vision. However high it flies, it is able to distinguish the movements of its prey.

This Pidgeotto is female and has the ability Keen Eye, which prevents the Pokémon from losing accuracy.

Move set – Gust, Quick Attack, Sand Attack, Tackle, and Steel Wing.

This Pidgeotto is above average in size.

"Above Average and Steel Wing, that's interesting." I spoke quietly. Also it knew 5 moves too which gave me happy thoughts.

"Good capture. The move where it's wing began to glow dark was steel wing then most likely, although it didn't look like it had it completely down." Misty commented.

"PIdgeotto, you can fly around okay, but just stick close to us." I said towards the bird

She nodded and took off into the sky.

As we were walking, a random guy dressed up in gear with a sword jumped out in front of us with the sword pointed towards us.

"Ha-ya! Are you by chance the Pokémon trainer who comes from Pallet? Asked the guy.

"Hey what the hell. Don't just go jumping at people with a sword!" Misty yelled at him.

"Misty's right, you can't just go around doing that." I spoke sternly.

As if in cue, Pidgeotto came out from nowhere and grabbed his sword with its claws.

"HEY FOUL CREATURE. GIVE ME MY SWORD BACK." he yelled.

"Keep it for now Pidgeotto. Tell us who you are and what you want." I demanded

"I am Samurai! I am also shrewd, fearless and completely invincible in combat. I have been searching the forest the trainer from Pallet." he said angerly.

"I'm from Pallet." I said knowing what happens next.

"Very well, I've lost to the other trainers of Pallet who have passed through. So now I will gain my honor by beating you. I challenge you to a Pokémon match." he said.

"Fine, let's get this over with." I sighed.

Samurai pulled out a Poké ball and released it. A big bug type come out that had sharp claws on its head came out.

I pulled out my Pokédex to scan it.

Pinsir, the Stag Bettle Pokémon.

Pinsir has a pair of massive horns Protruding from the surface of these horns are thorns. These thorns are driven deeply into the foe's body when the pincer closes, making it tough for the foe to escape.

Potential Abilities are Hyper Cutter, which prevents the bearer's Attack stat from being lowered by other Pokémon by moves and abilities. Mold Breaker, which prevents a target's ability from affecting moves that the Mold Breaker Pokémon uses. It only affects abilities that change the power, accuracy or other effects of moves.Moxie, increases the users attack after knocking out a Pokémon.

Putting my Pokédex away I called out for Pidgeotto who swooped down and dropped the sword by my feet.

"You up for a battle girl?" I asked her.

She chirped and got in front of me.

"Alright this will be a 2 on 2" Samurai yelled out.

I nodded and called out the first move.

"Pidegotto use Gust."

She quickly flew up and blasted the beetle with a strong blast of wind and caused it to wince in pain as it tried to keep its feet planted on the ground.

"Pinsir, use Vise Grip." he said.

Once the gust of winds slowed down, Pinsir took the opportunity to jump towards Pidgeotto who flew up to avoid the attack. Pidgeotto once more slammed Pinsir with a strong blast of wind that dropped it to the ground.

As the Pinsir was getting to its feet, it was recalled to its ball in a red beam of light.

"Hmph, you have no honor for keeping your bird in the air." he said angrily.

"It's a battle, do you expect for my Pokémon to not use any advantage they can?" I asked dumbly.

He snarled at me and smirked as he pulled out another Poké ball.

"Fine, but don't expect to beat this one." he said.

In another beam of light, a green cocoon came out.

"Good luck breaking my Metapods defense." he laughed.

"Hey Pidgeotto, do you want to battle again, I don't feel like the last one was good enough for you." I asked.

She nodded and turned her gaze towards the cocoon.

"Metapod use harden.

The bug type began to glow for a few seconds before it seized.

Well may as well test out steel wing.

"Pidgeotto use steel wing."

Her wings began to glow dark and flew down quick before smashing into the Metapod sending it across the field.

Although the attack seemed to do damage, it didn't look complete. Something that we would have to work on before we challenged the Pewter Gym.

"Hmph, no attack like that will harm my Pokémon's ultimate defense.

I sighed at that. This guy was weird.

"Pidgeotto, pick up Metapod and lift it up into the sky.

"Wait what!" cried out Samurai.

Pidgeotto flew down and clenched its claws on Metapod before flapping its wings up and flying up with the bug type in tow.

"AH, YOU HAVE NO HONOR AT ALL!" he screamed out.

Before I could call out another command, Metapod was recalled in a flash of red light.

"I guess I win huh." I said with a grin.

Samurai's face turned red.

"I won't forget this, one day I shall make you and your bird pay!" he proclaimed before running into the forest.

"Well, that was... lame." Misty said.

I nodded dumbly at that.

"What do we do with his sword?" I asked.

"I don't know, you could probably sell it at a store or something. Maybe even trade it." she thought aloud.

"Yea that sounds like a good idea." I said as I picked the sword up.

With that out of the way we continued our trek towards Pewter.

Another day later, we made our way out of the forest and entered into Pewter City. We made went to the Pokémon Center and gave our Pokémon to Nurse Joy for a checkup before each getting a room key.

The Pokémon League allowed each trainer to stay at each Pokémon Center for a week free before starting to charge a fee per night.

We chatted a bit with the other trainers that were resting in the lobby and were informed of things going around Pewter.

The main thing that caught my ear was that some Rhyhorn were roaming on the out squirts of Pewter.

Rhydon the second evolution of Rhyhorn were extremely powerful Pokémon if used right. The final evolution, Rhyperior was even more so. Although I don't know exactly how that evolution would work seeing as in the game it was evolved by trading with the item Protector being held.

I'd have to ask Misty about that, but I could definitely see the benefit of capturing one as they were dual ground and rock type which were two types that Ash didn't have many of and wouldn't capture his first until like Sinnoh.

"Hey Misty, do you know how Rhydon evolve into Rhyperior?" I asked.

"Oh, um not really. I believe there aren't many of them in the Kanto or Johto region. The way for them to evolve isn't really public information just like Magmar evolution into Magmortar or Electubuzz evolution into Electivire." she said

"Oh I see, do you know how Seadra or Scyther evolve?" I asked.

She nodded at that.

"Seadra can evolve by using a dragon scale and Scyther can evolve by using a metal coat." she said.

Okay so perhaps Rhydon evolve by handing them the Protector item.

"Maybe there's a certain item that cause the Rhydon to evolve." I said aloud.

"That could make sense, the only person I know that has a Rhyperior is the Viridian City Gym Leader Giovanni." she said

Giovanni.

My mind went to work at that. He was most likely the leader of Team Rocket right now. The sad thing was that there was definitely nothing I could do right now, even if I told the authority. They wouldn't have enough evidence other than the word of a 10-year-old, and it may even cause Giovanni to be more cautious.

For now, I would have to ignore that until I became strong enough or gained enough of a word in the world to have value.

I could always ask the Professor for help with evolution too.

My mind went blank at that. I forgot to call my mom or the Professor that I had arrived in Viridian let alone Pewter.

"Hey Misty I've got to make a phone call I'll be right back." I said getting a nod from the red head.

Sitting down in a both with a computer phone. I put in the phone number that I remembered as my home and let it ring.

A couple rings later and my mom picked up the phone and once she saw it was me her gaze hardened.

I sighed and prepared for the lecture.

"Your mother must have been mad." said Professor Oak from the other side of the phone.

"Yea she was." I said with a sigh.

"Call her every now and then Ash, she worries for you tremendously." he said with a hard stare.

"Don't worry Professor I will." I replied

He nodded at that and looked back at me.

"Now, was there a question you had for me?" I asked.

"Yes, there have been some Rhyhorn roaming around Pewter and I was thinking about catching one, but I was wondering if you knew the secret about evolving a Rhydon into a Rhyperior?" I asked.

"Honestly my boy I don't. The only Rhyperior that I know of in this region belongs to Giovanni of the Viridian Gym and we don't see eye to eye so I doubt he would even let me know if I asked." the Professor replied.

"Ah I see." I spoke.

"Although I do know in Sinnoh Rhyperior, are more common, not a lot more but still to the point where you'll see a trainer with one every now and then. I could ask the Pokémon Professors over there if you'd like." he commented.

I smiled at that.

"Yes, Professor I would appreciate that a lot if you could." I said.

"Alright I will, is there anything else that you'll need?" he asked.

"No, that's all Professor thank you for your time." I spoke.

"Of course my boy. Good luck with the attempt to capture a Rhyhorn and the Gym battle." he said with a smile before hanging up.

As I got up from the booth, I heard my name on the intercom and went to get my Pokémon.

Pikachu jumped off the ledge once he saw me and I was handed Pidgeotto Poké ball by Nurse Joy.

"Your Pokémon are in perfect health." she said with a smile.

"Thank you for checking them." I replied with a smile of my own.

She nodded and went back to work.

The night was already beginning to set so I decided to go and try to capture Rhyhorn tomorrow.

With a goodnight to Misty, I went to my room and released Pidgeotto.

Both Pikachu and Pidgeotto took a spot on the bed with me and joined me in the dream world.

AN

Well, here's chapter 2. How do you guys feel about Misty capturing Caterpie instead?

The SI has his first capture in Pidgeotto, a canon capture of Ash. With his eyes set on another which is a non-canon capture.

Also, how do you guys like the way I write battles out. I don't really feel like I do them good and I probably struggle the most with that so if you have any ideas that could help me, that would be very appreciated.

Hope you enjoyed.
