Hi everybody, sorry for the long wait, I blame the soul drenching job I used to have. Hope you all enjoy.

Chapter 4

Bella woke up early, feeling as energized as she always did. Sleep merely provided a nice reset for her. She had another one of her 'dreams' a strange memory this time, if she really was an angel it seemed she voluntarily left that life. While some of her angel siblings were cast out of heaven as punishment it seemed she left out of her own free will at a later point, vowing not to return. Once her conscious mind had processed the memory she jumped out of bed to shower and get dressed. Given the weather report said it would be overcast and a little colder than normal for September she settled for a roll neck and a leather jacket paired with jeans and a pair of heeled booties she got yesterday. She went downstairs to join Charlie for breakfast. Charlie was already in his uniform and eating his own breakfast. She grabbed a bowl, filled it with cereal and a little milk and grabbed a cup of coffee before she sat down at the kitchen table.

"Morning Bells. Excited for school?" Charlie grunted, his coffee not having kicked in yet.

"Morning pops. Yes and no, it's a double edged sword I guess." She replied while shrugging.

"Why do you want to go then? You know you don't have to, nor can I make you." Charlie inquired.

"Well it gives me something to do and I vowed not to let the money change me. Without it I'd have to finish high school, regardless if I would have come to live with you or not. Besides, it's always good to have some structure." Bella admitted to Charlie who quickly shrugged in agreement.

Charlie had to leave as soon as he finished eating his breakfast so they said goodbye and he wished her good luck on her first day. She put her empty bowl and coffee mug in the dishwasher, grabbed her backpack and her and Charlie's outfits from yesterday as she headed out. On the way to school in her Porsche she stopped at the dry cleaners to hand in the outfits before proceeding to school. When she got to school she parked her Porsche in the parking spot closest to the entrance, in good view of the school. 'Advantage of arriving early' she thought. She went to see Mrs. Cope to pick up her schedule. She was also handed a map of the school with the best routes to her classes of the day marked on it and a slip she had to let every teacher sign. Once she got everything she went to sit in her car again waiting for the parking lot to fill up. A silver Volvo parked next to her at some point but she was too busy going through some business emails on her new iPhone to notice the occupants being unhappy about where her Porsche was parked, well almost all of them, one of the blonde passengers had only eyes for the Porsche.

"Hey you must be the new girl, Isabella Swan." A Asian boy looking like the overly helpful, geeky, chess club type said.

"I prefer Bella. Yeah, first day." She replied.

"I'm Eric, Eric Yorkie, I'm the eyes and ears of this place. Anything you need just ask. Can I walk you to your first class?" he asked in his natural over helpful way.

"Yeah sure I have English." Bella said

He quickly led her to the right classroom while talking, he had wanted to write a feature on her for the school newspaper but she quickly shot that down.

"So Forks must be a big change from Phoenix?" He asked.

"You could say that." Bella replied.

"Does it even rain there?" He asked curiously.

"A couple of times a year, it's nice when it rains there though, washes away all the filth." Bella said.

"Here it is, English with Mason." He said as he stopped in front of a classroom door.

As she thanked him he asked her to sit with his group for lunch, she gave a open ended answer wanting to see what her options were. She entered the classroom and went to hand her slip to Mr. Mason, who quickly signed it and handed it back together with a reading list. He pointed towards a seat in the back of his classroom that was still mostly empty. As she walked towards it she read the reading list. She had already read all of those books and wondered if it would be wrong to recycle the papers she had saved on her laptop. As she got near her seat she saw a tiny girl sitting in the seat next to her corner seat. The girl had short raven black hair, was very pale but with a underlying tint, had strange dark gold eyes and looked like a beautiful statue created by a master stonemason, her skin was flawless. Though it did look like she had had a rough night and looked a little tired. The girls eyes were studying Bella up and down. It gave Bella a slight blush, she knew subconsciously she wasn't wearing anything that wasn't from a major designer brand. The girls own outfit looked very fashionable and well put together. Bella gave the girl a small smile as she sat down. English passed quickly. And she soon found herself in the calculus/trigonometry classroom, no doubt already her least favorite subject anyway.

Added to this the teacher, Mr. Varner made her introduce herself to the class, before he assigned her a seat. Suddenly being put on the spot was something she disliked, she could roll with it of course but she just considered it to not be a nice thing to do to another person. She was quickly assigned a seat next to a girl that was a significantly shorter than Bella's 5 foot 9 stature. As she walked over she saw the Tiny girl from English sitting next to a blonde guy that looked like he was in pain, almost as if being in this classroom was nearly too much for him to bear. Like the girl he was extraordinarily beautiful, though he wasn't unblemished, the skin that was exposed was covered in crescent shaped scars, his throat had more of those scars than it had unblemished skin. Though Bella was sure the others couldn't see it with their vision. He also had the same strange golden eye color and also looked like he had a rough night. The tiny girl next to him wasn't staring at Bella this time, all her attention was focused on the blonde guy, who started looking like he was relieved all of a sudden. Bella sat down onto her assigned seat, the girl next to her quickly introduced herself as Jessica. Jessica seemed over the moon that the new girl in school was sitting next to her.

When calculus was over they walked to government with Mr. Jefferson together since it was another class they shared, Bella had quickly figured out that there was a reason for Jessica's curiosity and it wouldn't surprise her when she'd find out Jessica was the biggest gossip in school. In government Bella got seated next to a different girl, Jessica didn't mind that much since the girl was apparently a friend of hers. The girl quickly introduced herself as Angela, she was much more the type that Bella usually got along with, the girl irradiated goodness and kindness. Soon this class too was over, Angela and Jessica leading the way to the cafeteria. The food being served in Forks high was – well it was safe to say Bella was seriously considering starting to bring sandwiches, her tray loaded with fresh fruit she followed her new acquaintances to their table. Eric who she had met earlier was also seated there along with a few other boys, one looking upset, angry even. There also was another girl called Lauren, who had a resting bitch face. As she was eating one of her apples while having conversation she saw some familiar faces entering the cafeteria followed by similar looking people.

"Who are they?" Bella asked to Jessica, knowing she'd know who they are.

"That short pixie is Alice Cullen, she's totally weird." Jessica said as Alice walked with the grace of a ballerina towards a table in the back of the cafeteria while holding the hand of the familiar blonde guy. "The guy she's holding hands with is her brother/boyfriend Jasper Hale who looks like he's in constant pain. It's weird they live together and are siblings and they also date each other." Jessica said.

"Jess they are all adopted so it's not like they are actual siblings, it's not illegal." Angela interjected, clearly defending the adopted family that didn't look to conform to the Forks standard. "Jasper may have a medical condition but Alice is really nice."

Jessica not one to be without the word for long pointed out a hulk sized figure with brown curly hair that was now headed for the far side table "That's Emmett Cullen, don't let his looks deceive you, he has no interest in school sports and isn't on any of the teams, so he's definitely not a jock."

After Emmett a totally drop dead gorgeous blonde appeared, she had it all in the looks department, she was absolutely stunning, already naturally tall she wore heels to further accentuate her height, her skin tight jeans and the low cut shirt under her jacket left little to the imagination, she was very nicely curved.

"That's Rosalie Hale, she's the biggest bitch in school, a real ice queen, she and Jasper are twins. Don't cross her, she can be really mean and she may or may not be with Emmett and he doesn't look like the type you want to mess with either, no guy in school even dares to try to ask her out, they learned their lesson." Jess continued.

Bella wasn't hearing it anymore though, all the conversations in the cafeteria that her hearing made it easy to pick up had faded away when Rosalie looked over to the table Bella was sitting at, as if she could hear Jessica gossip about her. But Rosalie's eyes didn't make it to the source of the gossip when they locked onto Bella's. Her eyes were the by now familiar dark gold that Bella had started to associate with the family. The look, or rather looks in Rosalie's eyes when her eyes locked on Bella went from anger to happiness to disbelief, to sadness and finally to rage. She wanted to get to know the blonde better, she felt a strange pull, as if her body wanted to get close to the blonde and that then everything would be alright. Bella snapped back to reality, she couldn't involve anyone in her crazy world, whatever she was, she wasn't exactly human.

"And that there's Edward." Jessica said while pointing at a bronzen haired boy with a broody look about him. Something she got chided for by Angela. "He's totally gorgeous naturally and definitely the most eligible bachelor in school, but he won't date anyone here. Guess none of us are good enough for him." Jess continued ending with a sad sigh, something Bella would have sworn was answered by a chuckle from Edward.

"They were all adopted by Dr. and Mrs. Cullen and moved down from Alaska a few years ago. Didn't your dad recently buy a house that Mrs. Cullen renovated?" Angela asked.

"Yeah it's a pretty nice house." Bella answered with a grin.

"I heard Mrs. Cullen can't have any children." Jessica said, a gossip rumor that most likely was a product of her own design Bella thought, it was clear that Jessica had a unanswered crush on Edward.

"Don't say such things." Bella hissed clearly frustrated at the remark Jessica had made.

Lunch went by quickly, after Jessica was done pointing out the different members of the Cullen family, conversation went back to the normal teenage topics instead of the family of extraordinary beautiful people that were clearly treated like outsiders in the school. Bella ended up saying a few things about life in Arizona and answered some questions about her Porsche that the curious boys asked. Several times Bella found herself unable to sneak a look over her shoulder to Rosalie, but the blonde responded every time with a death glare. It was hurtful to get that look but worth it in Bella's opinion. After their lunch period the angry puppy like boy walked Bella to her next class, Biology. His name was Mike Newton, his parents owned the sporting goods store in town from what Bella had gathered. She made a couple of inquiries without using her gifts but he didn't want to talk about what had him so upset. Once they got to the biology classroom Mike headed straight for his lab table while Bella went to the teacher. Mr. Banner quickly signed her slip.

"There's still a space available next to Edward Cullen." He said as he handed her the slip back.

While Bella walked to the lab table Edward was sitting at Mr. Banner opened a window, she felt the draft rushing towards the back of the class. When Bella got to the desk it made Edward freeze, he stayed like that when Bella sat down and didn't respond when Bella greeted him.

"Hey, are you ok?" Bella whispered to Edward when Mr. Banner had started his class.

She barely got a slow shake of his head as a response. The way he froze was a strange response from the boy. As the class proceeded he even started leaning away from Bella, from the reflection in the window she could make out he had a look of confusion on his face. He didn't even react when Bella politely suggested he should go see the school nurse. Finally when the class was over, Edward made a beeline for the door. Nobody aside from Bella noticed, but he was going too fast and had gotten up a split second before the bell had rung.

She was worried about Edwards's strange behavior as she made her way to her next class, Spanish. It wasn't a class she had wanted to take since she was fluent already, but a second language was required and of course the small high school only offered Spanish. At least shed get good grades for Spanish with ease. Her worries about Edward vanished as she entered the class room and saw Rosalie Hale sitting there, Rosalie's eyes went from happy to see her to giving her a death glare again. Not that the glare had much effect on Bella, her mind was barely able to prevent her body from walking straight to the beautiful blonde. Bella closed her eyes to refocus, turned her head and headed to the teacher to hand her slip.

Speaking to the teacher in perfect Spanish it was clear Mrs. Goff was both enthusiastic that Bella was fluent but also disappointed she had a student that she'd basically be unable to teach anything to. Mrs. Goff assigned Bella a seat in the back of the class room, next to Rosalie Hale of course. The entire class was a struggle, an exhaustive struggle to not look at Rosalie the entire time, to not strike up a conversation while class was in session. Strangely it seemed as if Rosalie was struggling to not look at Bella, until she did look. Bella's staring at the blonde was rewarded by a death glare and a low hiss, low enough that there was no way anyone else could have heard. Bella quickly snapped her attention back to the teacher.

Finally the class was over, Rosalie quickly got up and left the classroom before anyone else could. Bella hurried to her history class after recovering from the strange interaction of sorts with Rosalie Hale, meeting Angela halfway.

'What the hell is happening, why is Rosalie Hale having such a effect on me?' Bella thought while they walked to the classroom.

Fortunately Angela had noticed Bella wasn't fully there and didn't feel the need to strike up a conversation. So they soon arrived in their final class of the day in silence. Angela dropped Bella off at the teacher, Mr Smith. He quickly signed the slip and assigned her a seat next to Jasper Hale, who looked panicked, frightened even at first. He settled down quickly as she went to sit next to him and looked at her confused before Mr Smith started the class. Given she liked the subject the class went by quickly. Near the end of the class Mr Smith had an announcement.

"Given that our class is now has a even number of students I'll have you pair up for a collaborative essay. To avoid any discussion you will simply pair up with the student next to you, I'll come round to assign you subjects. Further information will follow, but I guarantee that you'll all have plenty of time." He announced and then started going around the class room handing out pieces of paper with subjects to the disappointment of students who couldn't pair up with who they wanted. He finally came by our desk.

"Could I write my own essay? I have weird study hours after school and a lot of extracurricular activities, I wouldn't want to drag down Jaspers grade." Bella asked Mr. Smith.

"No you'll have to make time, I will take it into account when grading though. You two can work on the cold war." He said as he handed a slip and moved to the next desk.

"No offense intended. I promise I'll do the best I can." Bella said to Jasper as the bell rang.

"None taken, Ma'am. We can see when you have some time in your busy schedule." Jasper said, with a hint of a southern accent as he wrote something on a piece of paper with his fountain pen.

He handed Bella his phone number, he truly had magnificent cursive handwriting and above the number he had written his name as well. Bella took it and said bye as he left. She noticed though that he briefly paused in the doorway to look at her confused again. She shrugged it off as she walked to the school office, chatting a little with some people she had met throughout the day and dropped off her slip in the schools office, an upset looking Edward Cullen leaving just as she came in. After handing off the slip and exchanging pleasantries with Mrs. Cope she walked out to the school parking lot, giving a wave to Angela and Jessica as she passed them and got in her Porsche. After a quick stop at the dry cleaners she went home and got started on her schoolwork. Doing some food prep in between.

On the other side of Forks a silver Volvo driven by a furious looking bronzen haired boy skidded to a halt outside a mansion. His siblings quickly got out after he parked the car in the large garage. He went straight to the woman that was slaving over a set of blueprints in the kitchen.

"Esme we need to have a family meeting now, it's important can you please call Carlisle?" He asked in a manipulative manner.

"Edward, Carlisle will be home soon from the hospital, can't it wait until tonight?" Esme asked trying to reason with Edward.

"I have a big announcement to make, please." He pleaded.

"Ok I'll call him, but I cannot make any promises." Esme said giving in to her oldest child.

Edward went to his room to brood, growing angrier as Rosalie kept hiding her thoughts from him. She often did it, but rarely at such level. He continued reading the minds of his family members, most wondering about what Edward had to say.

Eventually Esme had gotten through to Carlisle, he managed to make it home by five pm, unusual for him given he usually worked long hours. Edward immediately made his way over to the dining room taking his seat at the opposite head of the table from Carlisle, impatiently he waited for the remaining family members to join them. Eventually Rosalie made it to the dining room, having nearly been dragged there by Esme, the blonde was furious, seething as she finally sat down. Seeing his most hostile daughter was about to boil over Carlisle decided to quickly get the family meeting started.

"Son you wanted to make an announcement?" he asked Edward.

"Yes, it's about the new girl in school today, Isabella Swan." Edward said in a voice that was full of idolization as he thought of the girl.

"The Sheriffs daughter?" Esme asked getting a nod from Edward in response.

"I can't see her future, I didn't see her coming and did anyone else noticed how she was dressed, it was all designer brands." Alice said.

"And her car, I'll bet you loved it Ro-" Emmett started before being cut off by a fierce growl from the blonde.

"We need to leave Forks." The blonde hissed.

Edward jumped up and screamed at Rosalie "I'm not leaving, She is my mate!"

There were several gasps from the other family members in the room, a vicious snarl from Rosalie and Jasper was eying Edward suspiciously.

"Congratulations Edward, how wonderful that you found yo-" Esme started before being cut off by Rosalie who jumped up and got into a fighting stance.

"She's not your mate, she is my mate and I say we leave Forks and leave her alone!" Rosalie growled before jumping towards Edward.

Just before she would have made contact with him she was grabbed by Emmett, the gentle giant who locked his arms around her.

"Why are you lying sister? Do you really hate me that much that you would deny me my happiness?" Edward asked innocently to Rose as she was being dragged away from him by Emmett, but he did so mostly so his family could hear it.

Rosalie unleashed a viscous growl that shook her family members.

"ENOUGH!" Esme shouted. "Carlisle is it possible that she is both their mate?" Esme asked after getting her children to stop arguing and having the peace return somewhat.

"There are some occasions of three vampires mating, but I think they are all mated to each other, I'm not even sure if Bella will be able to feel it given the fact that she's human. This is an interesting case certainly." Carlisle stated.

"I wouldn't be so sure she is human, there's something strange about her, her heart barely beats." Jasper interjected earning a hiss from Edward and a ferocious growl from Rosalie.

"She might be into sports and working out a lot, it's not uncommon for athletic humans to have a lower heartbeat." Carlisle stated to both Edward and Rosalie to try and keep the peace.

"Carlisle I've read about athletic heart syndrome, it can't be that, she barely gets over 20 beats per minute, she ought to be on her way out." Jasper drawled earning yet another hiss from Edward and another growl from Rosalie.

"Jasper I want you to change classes, I don't want you around my mate." Edward interjected innocently, earning another growl from Rosalie when he called Bella his mate again."

"I ain't a danger to her, she doesn't make me thirsty and in fact it's the opposite." Jasper replied.

"Carlisle, Esme please, he can barely control himself enough to go to school to begin with, he's a danger to her. Aside from being in a couple of classes together, their history teacher paired them up for after school work" Edward stated innocently.

"Goddammit I'm telling you she doesn't make me thirsty, being around her made me the opposite, my throat stopped burning!" Jasper shouted, Edward and his manipulations getting on his nerves.

"Don't use the Lord's name in vain!" Edward hissed loudly going closer to Jasper before being stopped by Carlisle.

Esme looked at her husband and then all her children, Rosalie and Edward had never really gotten along, but now she feared her family was going to permanently fracture. Both staked the claim that Bella was their mate and she didn't know who to believe. One thing was for sure, they were in for a long night.

Bella had finished her homework and was finishing dinner by the time Charlie came home from work. They quickly exchanged hello's before Charlie hung his pistol belt on it's spot, putting his pistol away in a lock box. He wasn't thrilled when he saw what was for dinner when he walked into the kitchen to grab himself a beer. far more used to greasy take out and tv dinners he looked with shock at the food Bella put on the table.

"Eating healthy is going to be good for you dad, rice, Mexican black bean salad and Mexican meatballs. If you eat enough of the salad you might even get that beer you forgot to take out of the fridge" Bella said once she sat down and saw the look on his face.

"You sure this is edible? It's meant for people right?" Charlie asked.

That's when Bella realized that Renee's horrible cooking seemed to certainly be a memory Charlie had of his short term marriage to her sad excuse for a mother and he must have figured she learned to cook from Renee.

"Relax dad, I learned to cook from grandma and did all the cooking at Renee's, turns out I enjoy eating edible food over her experiments in the kitchen." Bella answered giving Charlie just enough courage to start tasting the food.

Once he had taken several bites it had been enough to convince him that it was really good. Bella smiled as she had earned his trust in the kitchen. They chatted a little while they ate, mainly about how Bella's first day went.

"So did you make some friends?" Charlie asked.

"It's a little early to make friends but I did sit with some people during lunch, Jessica, Angela, Eric and Mike along with some others." She replied.

"Mike Newton?"

"Yeah, blonde kid, kinda like a human labrador retriever, he was kinda angry though." She replied.

"I'd bet, well don't let the first impression fool you, Mike is a good kid. The family is just having some personal problems right now, I'm sure you'll hear about it sooner rather than later." Charlie defended Mike and his family.

She mentioned the Cullens and how they seemed to keep to themselves and weren't all that well liked in the school.

"I swear the people in this town, they can be so closeminded. Dr. Cullen is a blessing to the community, he's a brilliant surgeon who could work anywhere he wants to and earn a lot more. We're lucky that Mrs. Cullen prefers to live in small towns. I'll admit I had my doubts at first, a young couple with that many adopted children, but I have never had a single issue with any of them, something that can't be said for the kids of those who have been here for generations. They do so much for the community and they are still treated as outsiders." Charlie said barely breathing in between sentences, in fact it was the most Bella had ever heard him speak in one go, let alone with that much passion.

"They seemed nice to me, in fact I have an assignment with one of them for history." Bella said trying to reestablish the peace.

It took some time before Charlie fully cooled off. It surprised Bella how truly passionate he felt about the whole matter. Upon Charlie's insistence he loaded the dishwasher while she packed up the leftovers. Bella went upstairs to retrieve a book she had wanted to start reading. Once cozy on the couch she started reading a gentleman in Moscow, getting so immerged that 4 hours had passed and she hadn't moved aside from flipping pages. Charlie had started to notice she was almost unnaturally still and hadn't drunk anything while he had gotten up several times to get a fresh beverage.

"You ok Bells?" Charlie asked.

"Yeah, good book I got distracted. I think I'll go take a bath and then go to bed." She replied and got up. "Goodnight dad."

She left behind the wary Charlie and went to her room, going straight to the bathroom and drawing a bath, for appearance sake she didn't soak in the tub too long. She pretended to go to bed after half an hour by going downstairs again to quickly say goodnight to Charlie once more. She read her book throughout the night, shortly pretending to sleep when Charlie checked up on her, the noise of the rain on the roof and creatures moving through the woods outside keeping her company. Some animal passed through the woods at a serious speed at one point. The rain hadn't let up by seven AM it was clear it would be a typical Forks day. Bella quickly freshened up in her bathroom and got dressed, still choosing to forgo the typical heavy waterproof parka's that dominated the Forks student body she choose a waterproof bomber jacket paired with jeans and a t-shirt and ankle boots. Grabbing her backpack on the way down she joined Charlie in the kitchen who was cooking eggs and bacon, clearly enough to feed the both of them.

"I'll be working late tonight Bells, don't feel like you need to wait up." Charlie said apologetically.

"Oh I could drop by the sheriff's office with food, I'll be in Port Angeles anyway after school." Bella replied causing Charlie to look curiously. "I'm volunteering at the homeless shelter." She added

"Bells those places –" Charlie started till he saw Bella glaring at him. "Just promise you'll be careful." He finished.

Bella quickly ate her breakfast and grabbed the leftover meatballs from the fridge to make a sandwich for school. By the time she got there the parking lot had already been starting to fill up she once again parked in one of the clearly premier spots near the entrance, quickly got out of the Porsche and joined her new friends inside. The school day dragged on, her classes were a little different today, but she noticed the big burly Emmett Cullen in one of her classes. When she got to lunch, a little late after gym, she walked to table she sat at the day before, glancing at the Cullen's table. It seemed only Alice, Jasper and Emmett had made it to the cafeteria so far. While she ate her meatball sandwich and salad she glanced over to the Cullen table a few more times, the third time she was greeted with a smile from Alice, something that made her quickly stop peeking and turn her attention fully to the table she was sitting at, much like a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar. The school day progressed slowly, eventually coming to an end after her last class of the day gym, in which she had to work hard to not show off. Her hope had been that given she was a junior now that she'd no longer have to do gym, it turned out to be a requirement all throughout high school here, fortunately due to all her elective classes she only had 2 days of gym a week.

Once home from school she quickly took a shower and put on fresh clothes, then got started on her homework, getting most of it done before she had to start her drive to Port Angeles, it didn't take that long to get there due to her heavy foot. She didn't have too much difficulty finding the shelter, once parked safely she made her way inside, introducing herself to the man at the front desk, who gave her a quick tour of the offices and then took her to the dining hall.

"I'm afraid I have to get back to my never ending pile of paperwork, but if you have any further questions I'm sure Esme can answer them, she's one of our longer term volunteers." He said once they had entered the dining hall.

Not only did the name sound very familiar and raised Bella's suspicion, but the woman who came out of the kitchen area had a look that was a dead giveaway, pale, beautiful and golden eyes. She had to be Esme Cullen given how much she looked like her adopted children despite looking different at the same time. Esme smiled once she saw Bella, but there was a sadness in her eyes.

"Isabella Swan as in the Sheriffs daughter?" Esme asked.

"Yes, though I prefer Bella, I suspect Charlie keeps calling me Isabella behind my back. You must be Esme Cullen." Bella replied offering her hand which Esme shook.

"Sorry I have bad circulation." Esme replied when Bella noticed that her hand was a little too cold.

After their introductions Bella thanked Esme again for the excellent work she did on the house. They had some light conversation as they got everything else finished and soon were too busy serving people to talk any further. By eight pm they had everything cleaned up together with a few other volunteers. They quickly exchanged goodbyes as they left. Bella went to a restaurant to pick up food for her and Charlie and made her way over to the sheriff's office in Port Angeles, Charlie must have warned the deputy manning the reception that his daughter was coming as she got in without an issue with a brief explanation of how to get to Charlie's office.

Charlie was on the phone as she came in, giving her a wave as he wrapped up his conversation. She started setting out the food on the coffee table in between the two couches in his office. Charlie didn't look too happy as he saw soup and salads being out.

"Don't be a sourpuss dad, there's also this." Bella said as she showed 2 steaks with baked potatoes. "You gotta eat your salad and soup first though." Bella said as she closed the boxes again to keep the steaks and potatoes warm. Charlie quickly retrieved some cutlery and they started eating as they both talked about their day.

"So why did you become Sheriff dad?" Bella asked as they started with the main course.

"Well there were a lot of people who asked me to run, I didn't expect to win the election, I didn't exactly run a professional campaign or anything." Charlie admitted.

"Would you have preferred to stay chief of the Forks police department?" Bella asked.

"Some days yes, this is a very different job. More responsibility, but in a way more rewarding." Charlie said. "Bells there's something you should know. Your mother was released on bail today and it looks like the charges will be dismissed soon." He said.

"I know, I paid her bail and hired her a good attorney. Renee did a lot of shit and I sure as hell don't want her in my life anymore but I don't want her in jail either. Hopefully she got the message to leave me alone." Bella said surprising Charlie.

"That's… That's a really nice thing of you to do. Bells what if she comes here, those threats she made were very specific?" Charlie asked afraid for his daughter's safety.

"We'll deal with that if it comes. Finish your dinner dad." Bella replied.

They cleaned up when they finished eating and said they goodbye's Bella went home. She finished her homework and went to bed choosing to sleep that night instead of staying up and letting her mind wander. The couple of school days that remained seemed to drag on, though she was worried for Edward, she was bothered mostly by Rosalie's absence from school. It was strange since she didn't know Rosalie but not seeing her seemed to leave a part of her feeling empty. She was striking up a few friendships as well, it felt strange though, knowing that she might have friendships that last longer than a few months. It had always been something that Renee had discouraged, mainly by making Bella switch schools on the regular. She had a uneventful weekend, spending most of it in Seattle, due to an investment she had a large penthouse in the city that gave her a place to escape to and at night it made it an excellent place to stretch her wings from. Her dreams were ramping up and became stranger. Usually she'd would have a dream in the form of a memory, like experiencing a movie. Now they were more like snippets, short memory fragments that didn't make any sense and they were about Rosalie Hale. Almost like she had met Rosalie before.
