The team returned to the labs, feeling a little tipsy, Cisco having a little too much to drink, Johnny having way too much. So much so that Caitlin and Sue ended up having to carry the two of them back with help from Bette, Jennifer, Medusa, and Crystal.
"It's a good think we did this test." Bette said jokingly.
"Well, now we know Peter's the only one with the power to hold his liquor." Caitlin joked when they walked into the labs and saw someone was standing over a unconscious Peter on a medical bed.
"Whoa! Am I drunk, or is that?" Cisco asked as he gestured over to the woman.
"Get away from him!" Sue demanded as she raised her hands to throw a forcefield at her.
Jessica raised her hands slowly and back away. "It's okay, I'm not here to fight. I'm trying to help."
"Sue, it's okay." Ben promised, only now making them notice he was watching the entire thing in a chair. "She came in here a while ago and Peter was pretty bruised. Said she just wanted to help."
"Who are you?" Bette asked, still trying to catch up.
"My name is Jessica Drew." Jessica introduced herself to the team. "I came to this city to warn you of something coming, and when I finally tracked down your leader..." she gestured over to Peter's unconscious form.
"He's not the leader." Johnny stated, still drunk out of his skull, and trying to impress the girl. "That would be me."
Jessica looked over to him and was not impressed. "Sure. When I found Spider-Man, he was fighting a giant ooze monster and was losing. No idea who or what it was."
"I know what it was." Peter muttered as he began to wake up and started to immediately stand up.
"Hey, hey. You don't wanna be doing that." Jessica warned him as she lowered him back down. "You fractured your ribs, bruised head, broken arm. You took quite the beating."
Peter groaned and lied back down on the bed. "Fine. How long?"
"About a few hours. You should be fine by morning." Jessica promised.
"Wait, sorry, how did you survive the attack? Or get him here?" Caitlin asked Jessica.
"Because..." Jessica then reached down her shirt and revealed her Spider-Woman uniform. "I'm Spider-Woman."
The team looked back and forth between Peter and couldn't believe there was another spider themed hero (or trying to be).
"Are you two related?" Bette asked as she gestured back between the two.
"No." Peter stated and looked to Jessica. "Are we?"
"No." Jessica assured him.
"Did you somehow give her your powers? Because, dude, I've been asking you to do that for years!" Johnny stated and scoffed.
"I didn't transfer my powers to her." Peter promised. "She's not related to me in any way."
"So, what, she just ripped off your name?" Cisco asked.
"Basically." Peter shrugged and tried not to move his arm. "But I know who was behind the attack."
"Who?" Sue wondered, keeping a close eye on Jessica.
Peter then looked over towards Johnny, him being the only one who would understand. "It's Eugene Thompson."
Johnny looked completely shocked as he and Peter haven't heard or spoken to the guy since high school.
6 years ago:
Peter was going through his locker when he was slammed against it, making Peter look and see that it came from Flash Thompson.
"Puny Parker. Where's my homework?" Flash asked Peter, holding him down with his hand on Peter's shoulder.
Of course, Peter could easily push Flash off of him, even give him the beating of a lifetime, but that wouldn't prove anything. If anything, it would make things a whole lot worse. Breaking his promise he made for his uncle to always use his powers with full responsibility.
"You know...I never had the time to get to it, you know, trying to get my own homework done." Peter commented, only ending with him getting pushed around and tossed down the hall.
"You know what happens if you don't do my work." Flash stated.
"What? You get expelled?" Peter groaned as he got back up, only to get kicked. "Yeah, I saw Back to the Future."
"Hey! Flash!" Johnny called, getting Flash's attention and he was immediately punched in the face, sending him flying. "Leave him alone."
"Oh, what? You have to fight his battles for him, Storm?" Flash asked as he got back up.
"Hey." Ronnie got involved as he separated the two of them. "Guys. Calm down. We're gonna be late for class."
The bell than rang and the three of them separated, Flash leaving the other three.
Ronnie and Johnny then walked over, Johnny holding his hand out for Peter to take and he did and was yanked up from the floor.
"You alright, man?" Ronnie asked Peter.
"Yeah, I'm good." Peter promised with a sigh.
"I don't know why you put up with the dude." Johnny stated and helped Peter, who was acting to be a little limp from the fight.
"Do I look like I can put up a fight?" Peter asked as they walked him to the nurse.
"You should hit the gym, man." Ronnie agreed with Johnny.
Ironically, this would be the same night when Peter would accidentally reveal to Ronnie that he was Spider-Man. But even then, he didn't quite understand how 'great power, comes great responsibility meant needing to deal with a guy like Flash.
"Your high school nemesis is now a unstoppable being who is wearing an alien Symbiote that has a vengeance on you for rejecting them." Cisco recapped the entire story Peter finished explaining. "That does explain your whole gothic look back in college."
"I had a childhood nemesis." Caitlin stated as she was checking Peter's arm so it was healing properly. "Lexi La Roche. She used to put gum in my hair."
"Jake Puckett." Cisco added on. "If I didn't let him copy my homework, he'd give me a swirly."
"Okay, guys, we don't really have time to go around the table, showing off his were all textbook examples of nerds. We need to get Flash out of that Symbiote and capture it." Peter stated as he was released from the cast holding his arm.
"Well, how did you get rid of it the first time?" Johnny asked.
Peter sighed as he had a flashback to that day.
"I can't believe we did this. Why am I pushing everyone away?" Peter asked himself. "Ronnie, Caitlin, Johnny. They've been there since I moved from New York and were treating them like trash."
"No, they're just in our way."
"Why do we keep doing that?" Peter asked, smacking himself. "Why do I refer to me as we?" That's when he looked down at the suit and thought about it. "The suit. It's the suit!"
He then started to try and yank it off, only for it to start getting stronger. "No. Do not reject us."
Then there was a quick jump to when he was slamming his head against the bell of the church while the suit was trying to fight back.
"Vibrational frequency." Peter answered their questions. "That's what weakened it but won't be enough to kill it. I got rid of it using a church bell."
"Or maybe you just haven't found the right frequency." Cisco offered as he got an idea. "What if we built like a...sonic cannon? Remember, that one guy who used to work here? Hartley Rathaway?"
"As in Rathaway Industries?" Susan asked, recognizing the name.
"The one and only." Cisco confirmed. "Well, when he used to work here, before he took over his family's company after their deaths, he worked on sonic technology. Maybe we can get in touch, ask for some help."
"Ugh, I don't know if I feel comfortable with that." Johnny shuttered, remembering the time the guy tried hitting on Johnny. It was an awkward moment for everyone that day.
"Johnny, you don't need to be here when we talk to him." Caitlin promised him.
"Honestly, I think we all prefer if you weren't." Cisco agreed, shuttering at the memory. "That was an awkward day for everyone."
"I'll call Dr. Wells, tell him and Tess what we're gonna be doing and if he still has a way to contact Hartley." Caitlin offered as she left the room.
"And just to be safe, I don't want anyone going anywhere alone." Peter told his friends. "May needs someone with her at all times, including when she's watching Franklin and Valeria."
"I'm on it." Johnny promised as he got up and walked off. "Perfect excuse for not being around for a while."
"True." Peter shrugged.
"You've come into contact with a member of the Symbiotes?" Medusa asked Peter, sounding awfully impressed by this.
Peter turned to face her and shrugged. "Yeah. A few years ago. I had it for a few months before it tried to possess my mind, but I fought it off."
Medusa yet again looked even more impressed by him. "Some of my finest Warriors of Attilan have never been able to keep the Symbiote under control for days, let alone months. And be able to fight it off alone." She then walked towards him and looked Peter in the eye, as if trying to see if he was indeed telling the truth. "You are quite remarkable for a being like yourself."
"Thanks?" Peter guessed.
"It looks like Thompson is working beautifully as the distraction." Maximus complimented Richards as they saw the process that it took for Peter to fight Venom.
"Releasing the Symbiote was only part of the plan. The fact the host is also a old enemy of Parker's is just a cherry on top." Reed admitted as he looked at the reflection on his face and sighed at the scar that seems to be spreading. Soon, to will cover most of his face. "Besides, now that he's distracted, he won't be coming for us anytime soon."
"And what of the other experiments?" Maximus asked as he looked back to the examination table where their newest creation was laying unconscious.
"Let's allow Ms. Ryan some time to rest. She has had quite the eventful day, tomorrow we shall begins some tests to see the limits of her power." He then looked back to the footage and watched as Spider-Woman came swooping in to save Peter. "But first, I wanna know about the two of them." He then pulled up someone's footage showing a woman in an all blue outfit fighting off some robbers with electricity based powers, as well as a mask that sealed a small part of her face. "They could be a problem we need to deal with later."
