Prompt: The hero and/or partner pulls a prank.

AN: And the prompt is sorta twisted due to having multiple instances of the characters pranking others.

"I bet you played with it." came from Blair, loud enough for anyone near to hear, but not loud enough for people to think they were intentionally loud.

"Didn't even touch it." responded Blaze with the same volume.

"But you had every chance to."

"It would be embarrassing!" The other unfortunate denizens of Hub Town started turning their heads, them turning a bit red as they were gathering context.

"But you said you were alone. No one would disturb you." Blair tried hard to hide her smile. "Just touching that little pink thing. So soft and squishy and it feels good."

"WHOA!" came from Twine who had just about heard enough, though his reaction was what everyone else wanted to do. He was just the first to react. "Can you keep those kinds of conversations private, mayhaps?"

"What kind of conversation?" asked Blaze, feigning confusion.

"We were just talking about Blaze stumbling upon a sleeping Ditto once." answered Blair, looking at the flustered Twine. "What did you think we were talking about?"

Twine, and the surrounding onlookers, turned even more red. "Oh, uhm... nevermind." he stuttered before awkwardly returning to his own business.

"Gotta admit, that was fun." came from Blair as the two Vulpix giggled to themselves.

"Told you so." replied Blaze. "Now, got any idea?"

"Oh, do I ever. I mean, both Summers have been kinda grumpy lately." said Blair with a smile, as the two started planning their next humorous move.

Meanwhile, at a nearby table, the two Grovyle sighed as the Vulpix were chattering. "Do you have a feeling of dread running down your spine?" asked one to the other.

"Somehow I think that 'that'," responded the other as he pointed at the girls. "Is going to be a terrifying friendship we have to deal with."

"So, we have been curious." Serah the Arbok asked, having only just seen the two fox pokemon since she and Miriam had arrived in this strange place a week ago. "How did you get your fur to be that color?"

"Bathing in the blood of my enemies." Blaze said with a sinister grin.

"I prefer the blood sacrifices of my friends." answered Blair with a slasher smile. Serah and Miriam were taken aback by the two.

Blaze leaned closer to the two newcomers, who were looking visibly uncomfortable. "Though I would avoid Water Types. The color just doesn't stick, you know."

"Although, the Treecko line gives the fur a good shine." Blair was snickering.

"Wait..." The Murkrow looked confused. "Aren't your partners..." she trailed.

"We are priming them." The new duo slowly backed away when they heard that.

"Priming who?" came from a Grovyle behind the Vulpix who landed a fist on top of both the fox heads.

"We are just having some fun." Blaze complained.

"More like scaring the newcomers." Blaze's Summers huffed.

"We didn't even get to use our 'blood'." Blair said in defeat.

Curious, Summers opened Blaze's backpack and found a bottle of thinned ketchup together with a bunch of wrapped sandwiches. "Oh, real funny. Also, I know you were on food duty today, Blaze, but what's with the excess?"

"The fire-types have a meeting about something or another, Sear didn't go into details, so I volunteered to make something to eat. Though yours should also be in there somewhere." Blaze responded.

"Well, don't mind if I take one then." Summers said and pulled out a sandwich. Then he turned to Serah and Miriam. "Also, sorry about this. These two have been messing with all of us."

"If they are just messing around, then it's fine." Miriam replied. With that, those two sets of.

Meanwhile Summers had unwrapped the sandwich. "Down it goes."

Blaze turned around and got pale. "Summers, I don't think that's a good idea."

"It'sh jusht a shandwish." He replied as he chowed down on the food. Then he stopped chewing as he started sweating. "Blazhe, what ish in thish shandwish?"

"That... That would be the dried Tamato berry for that extra punch for fire types." Blaze looked as her partner struggled with the food.

"Oh..." he swallowed. "That would explain... Pardon me as I look for a lake to kill this burn." And with that he ran off.

"He took it pretty well." Blair said as she was convinced she saw smoke coming out of Summers mouth.

"Guess it's not spicy enough then." Blaze sighed. "I'll go home and add some more chili."

"Summers. SUMMERS!" Blaze yelled towards the Grovyle. The Grovyle turned around with a smile, before retracting it. "You are my Summers, right?" She looked at his armband and got confirmation. "Good, blue."

Summers looked at the Vulpix, and saw her blue identifier. "Just to make sure, you haven't done a switcheroo?"

"Nah, we do that on wednesdays." replied the girl.

"It is wednesday." Summers said flatly.

"Oh... I was convinced it was tuesday. Anyway, no switcheroos, Blair is on 'monitor' monitor duty, and I'll be damned if I were to substitute her on that." Blaze grumbled.

Summers just chuckled in response. "It is quite boring. So, what is it?"

"Right. Sear and Vei want us to help set up traps near the Mountain of Unending Suffering... Who named it that again?"

"The monitor drones did that, and that terrifies me." Summers replied as he looked towards the mountain. "So, shall we?"

Then the sound speaker from the monitor tower flared up. "Hello? Hello? Can anyone hear me? This is Blazewind, just to tell you we have officially reached two weeks of absolutely jack all happening. That was all."

Summers glared at the Vulpix who looked towards the tower in annoyance.

"Damn her, she beat me to it..." she grumbled.

"Pardon?" Summers asked in a frustrated sigh.

"That while on monitor duty, claiming to be the other, while giving a rather mundane and unnecessary update. I would so have done it the next time it was my turn..." Blaze stomped her foot on the ground.

Summers squinted at her. "How can I be sure?"

"Remember our trip to the Tunnel Caves, or the Caves of Neverending Misfortune as we called it, due to what happened in there." the vulpix asked.

"We promised to NEVER talk about that." Summers hissed.

"Exactly! Just between us, no. Matter. What." replied Blaze with extra emphasis.

Summers was almost convinced as the other Summers appeared. "Blair! Really? Just throwing your duties onto Blaze and also parading as her?"

"I am not Blair!" Blaze said exasperated.

"Prove it!" Blair's Summers demanded.

"Remember what happened during the trip to Tunnel Caves?" she asked the grovyle.

"It was rather uneventful, how does this prove anything?" The grovyle was confused.

The Vulpix then made a side glance to her own partner who nodded. "She is telling the truth." he just said.

"Wait, what happened to you in those tunnels?" Blair's Summers was now curious.

"That stays between me and Blaze." the other Summers replied.

Blair's Summers then looked questioningly at Blaze. "Yeah, ain't nobody going to know about that as long as we live." was her reply.

The dining room in the replica of Wigglytuff's Guild had been repurposed into a storage area, and inside the two vixens are planning their next hijinks as they were packing and sorting.

"Next time we get newcomers we have to do it. It's a classic." Blaze practically demanded.

"I still quite don't get it." Blair mumbled.

"First, one of us goes up and greets the newcomer and does some small talk. Then once we are done, we go in one direction. Then the other of us starts approaching them from the opposite direction and pretend to be the other, but as if we never met them. Will confuse the heck out of them." Blaze chuckled at the scene unfolding in her mind.

"I still don't know." Blair said as she used Psychic to push a crate back into its place. "We are doing the pie one, though, right?"

"Of course. We just need to find the proper timing." Blaze smiled.

It was then that they heard someone tumbling down the ladders in the main hall and rushed out.

"Maybe just one of us should have gone." Maho said.

"Agreed." came from Talon the Blaziken as she rolled off the poor Braixen.

"What's the hurry?" asked Blair.

"Anyone in the living quarters?" Talon asked, ignoring Blair's question.

"Just the two of us down here." Blair said, nodding towards Blaze.

"Good, you two, to the circular square. Something's happened." Maho said as she brushed the dirt off of herself.

"Wait, what happened?" asked Blaze.

"A portal opened." replied Talon. "And from Anny that was looking over the monitors said that the large screen turned on with a single short sentence."

"What?" came from Blair.

"Your purpose starts now." said Maho.

AN: Life in the Nexus wasn't all that glorious. Just a horrible mountain, with a terrifying monster lurking about, to climb, and a certain forest which I don't have to elaborate on to explore, with Hub Town not being all that interesting either, despite being an amalgam of all the main hubs from the PMD games, Adventure Squad excluded.
