Prompt: Instead of getting your own unique body, you get placed with another pokemon. Both of you have to share your two consciousness
The police were still trying to break into the large lab as the denizens of the city went to sleep, though there were two who couldn't. A human and his absol were glued to the screen, watching as the police failed once more to break into the science building.
"It's a lab, why is it so fortified?" the human asked out loud, and the absol growled in agreement. For five more minutes the police attempted to get inside, but in vain. Then bright lights went through whatever small cracks in the sealed building there were.
The absol went up and started to panic. Around its trainer it went for a few laps before rushing towards the door, smashing it open and urged her friend to follow. He caught on and they both left the apartment.
It wasn't just absol that could feel it, it seemed. Wild and tamed pokemon from all over the city were making a straight line away from the lab. A large tremor occured and with the blink of an eye, the lab disappeared and a bright orb of light was hanging where the building once stood. Then it swallowed the world.
When the human came to, he was floating in a white void. Chunks of buildings, forests and lakes were floating past him, laws of nature be damned. But they were all moving towards a larger island floating in this nothing and he could see as chunks closer to the island became one with it, and he too was slowly moving towards it.
He tried to cry out to his absol but found that he could not. Nor could he move at all. He was scared. "Absol, where are you?" he thought to himself as he suddenly felt relieved.
"Harry?" an unfamiliar voice rang in his head.
"Who? Where?" he thought out loud.
"Harry, it's me, Absol." the voice replied, sounding as if one could cry without the sobbing.
"What is happening? Where are you?" Harry was scared of the answer, but anything would be better than nothing.
"I... I don't know. The bright light gave me a sense of dread like no other. I was afraid. I am still afraid. I think... I think that this is what remains of our world." Absol replied. "That island if you can see it."
"I can..." Harry just replied.
They floated ever closer as they figured out they were somehow entangled in one another, but they didn't know how. They were mixed with one another, but they didn't seem to have any tangible body so to speak of. They communicated together as they closed the distance, using their situation to learn more of one another, as to distract themselves from what had become of them and their world.
"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" Another voice joined.
"THIS ISN'T REAL!" another chimed in.
The closer they got to the island, more and more voices joined in. All scared, all panicked and slowly, all the voices, all the individuals started to drown in the cacophony in the pleads for help. The mass of consciousness landed in the forest, creating a maelstrom of wailing souls, pulling in any organic materials it connected with, morphing it, merging with it. A large maw filled entirely with sharp teeth was shaped, as large tusk-like horns formed on the sides. Eyes covered the top of its head, as a large body formed behind it. Four sets of stubby legs were formed, with clawed feet. A large tail followed, covered in spikes, as the creature's outer layer turned to a tough hide, pieces of armored, spiky plates protruding everywhere. The creature looked up in panic and saw something it's many thousand minds recognized.
"Arceus! Help us! Save us!" the voices cried out in unison, but Arceus could not hear them. All it did was bow its head, as if to apologize to them before disappearing before their eyes. Seeing it disappear awoke a rage inside the creature, an energy building up inside of it, and with a wail of anger the amalgam beast shot a beam of destruction towards the skies. The Beast then started to walk, and for years upon years it walked, destroying any living creature it would see, its mind filled with nothing but screams for help, and cries of seething rage.
Meanwhile, a fortified building floats in the space between spaces. Inside two figures watch on a monitor, as the feed of their surveillance drone cuts off from being hit by a destructive beam. "I am assuming that was 'our' Arceus, professor?" said the woman. She looked at the being who used to be a man. Now he was a mixture of all kinds of creatures, imitating the form of a man, a broken 'divine ring' hovering behind him.
"If it still clings to its broken world, then that is its own problem." the professor growled. He used the talons he called his hands to rewind the footage back to the monster that had formed. "However, this monstrosity on the other hand." He chuckled to himself. "Never thought that the broken god would still be a source of inspiration."
"A step closer to godhood?" the woman asked as she draped herself over her boss.
"And further than that, my lovely apprentice." he replied as he carefully pushed her away. "But now we must get to work. Are the Cloaked Ones ready?"
"On our signal they will begin Project: World Warp." the apprentice said as she pulled out a tablet.
"Good. We will start in five minutes. After that, start up device M-834 and run diagnostics, I need it for some small scale tests after some... configurations." The professor was laughing to himself.
"Anything else?" his apprentice asked.
"Go to where we have those creatures in suspended animation. Pick one that you particularly like and have it on standby. If my hypothesis is correct then we can soon start on some larger experiments."
"Then I will start preparations, professor." the woman said as she, with a smile, left for one of the labs.
The professor rewinded back once more to the formation of the beast. "So much potential with souls. This is most useful information." Today was a good day as far as the professor was concerned and he couldn't help but start laughing once more. A crazed laugh that echoed through the entire building.
AN: I am techinically fulfilling the prompt request. But, yes, the Nexus origin, along with the origin of the Beast, the Lurker (even if not present in the story) and the villain to an extent. At least I've shown his motives.
Also, look, I kinda had an idea of where I was going with this thing. Which is really weird, because the point of this was that it had an excuse plot for me to have Blair and Talon run into Sonic the Hedgehog or something. What is this plot doing here?!
