Earlie the Pearlie had been forgotten. Extremely forgotten.
His attraction, The Astuter Computer Revue, had closed thirty-eight years ago and replaced one month later by Backstage Magic. Then that shut down some twenty-nine years ago.
It wasn't so bad, because he had Julie and I/O from Backstage Magic to keep him company. But it was bad because they'd been left to rot.
Along with the old Epcot computers. Computer functions of the park's animatronics and stuff had long since moved away from Computer Central. Or whatever it was called these days. He didn't know.
However, could hear voices, so many voices, every day.
Then… nothing. Nothing for months.
He was completely closed off from everything, no idea what was going on.
The voices came back.
They were oddly comforting now.
All he could do was keep up his general optimistic demeanour.
If he didn't have hope that he, Julie, and I/O would be restored someday, even after all these years, he didn't have anything.
But it sure would be nice to be connected to the outside world. Or even just to see it. To know what was going on out there.
He just really missed people. And computers.
The Astuter Computer Revue is the shortest running attraction in Epcot's history. And Disney World's history for that matter. It opened on October 1st 1982 and closed on January 4th 1984 and ran for only 458 days.
It's largely lost - only one video of it is known to exist (thanks to an at the time student journalist) and it's missing the first minute or so.
As for Disney, it's been completely forgotten by them. There's no reference to it in any other attraction. The song hasn't appeared on any albums since the first Epcot album. It's as if the attraction never existed.
