AU story with the birth of Jack and Elizabeth's first child

Jack paced outside the room. He wondered what was happening in there. Faith told him to wait outside until Elizabeth was ready to push. Jack had all kinds of emotion boiling inside him. He was feeling excited to become a father. Jack had dreamed about being a father since the first time he kissed her. He couldn't wait to spend the rest of her life with her.

Jack stopped pacing. If it's a boy, he'll have a companion. They would play in the dirt and mud together. He would teach him everything about baseball. He would teach him how to treat a woman right and not to be a heartbreaker. If it's a girl, she won't be courting until she's 30. If Jack has learned anything from the students in Hope Valley, little girls have the best imagination. Jack thought about all the pretend tea parties they would have. He would protect her from any boys who try to break her heart. And in that rare instance someone breaks her heart, he would console her and let her know they aren't all like that.

But Jack was also faced with fear. The baby was coming three weeks early. What if that meant the baby wasn't going to be okay? Carson said that it was normal for babies to come early. But what if it wasn't normal. The house on the land that Jack bought wasn't completed. He thought he had more time. What kind of father doesn't have a place for their child to live. They were staying in the rowhouse until construction was complete.

It was in that moment, Jack wished his father was there with him. He wished that he could talk to him and ask him how not to worry about your child. Though he would probably tell him that you will always worry about your children as long as you live.

Suddenly there was a cry. It was a baby's cry. Jack smiled. At least his child is crying. After about two minutes, the door slowly opened.

"Jack, would you like to meet your son?" Faith asked.

Jack smiled and nodded.

The baby was with Elizabeth. She looked tired and sweaty but beautiful as always.

"You look beautiful." Jack told Elizabeth.

"Liar." Elizabeth said teasingly.

Jack laughed. His wife still had her since of humor. Elizabeth handed Jack the baby. He smiled down at his child. He had ten fingers and ten toes. It didn't matter if he has five fingers and two toes, he was perfect.

As Jack looked down at his newborn son, all his worries went away. All he knew was that this baby needed him. The baby didn't care if the house was unfinished or if he'll be a good father. All he knew was that his father was right here, right now.

"Theodore." Elizabeth said.

"What?" Jack asked.

"I think we should name him Theodore." Elizabeth said.

"Like my father." Jack said.

Elizabeth gave a small smile.

"I believe he helped shape you into the man you are today. And I think we should honor him with the name of our first child." Elizabeth said.

"It's perfect." Jack said.

Elizabeth watched Jack with Little Theodore. Once the baby started to get fussy, he handed him back to Elizabeth. Once they both fell asleep, he watched both of them sleep. Jack had no care in the world.
