Tsunade listened to Shizune give the report, "So no other hostiles during the patrol?" she asked for clarification.
"None." Shizune confirmed, staying at attention for the moment.
Tsunade frowned, "Odd, were you able to recover samples?" she asked, curious about what Orochimaru was up to.
Shizune nodded, "I placed them within this scroll to prevent further decomposition." she informed, brandishing the scroll she spoke of, "Shino-san and I confirmed no infectious contaminants." she added.
Tsunade nodded, "Deliver that to the morgue, I'll have to ask you to handle the dissection." she ordered in a slightly apologetic tone.
"May I assist?" Shino asked, "I'm not too tired after the mission, and assisting Shizune-sensei is no bother for me." he explained.
Tsunade raised an eyebrow but nodded, "Sure, it's good you're taking an interest in this stuff I suppose." she agreed, "Dismissed." she finished and everyone but Naruto left.
The Hokage raised an eyebrow at the younger blonde, "Can I buy a plot of the hot springs?" he asked.
Tsunade sighed, she assumed she knew what he wanted it for but technically there had been no reports of him messing around in the water, "None of that land is currently for sale, but I'll let you know if that changes." she decided, knowing the blonde did have the money to purchase it if the owner was willing to sell at a reasonable price.
Naruto pouted but left without complaint, figuring he had a private place to himself already in his apartment. It was a shame though, the hot springs seemed like a really fun place to do that.
Shizune frowned in concern as she worked, as they suspected during the fight the scales of the strange ninja from Otogakure has chakra resistant scales. They were rather sturdy too, one of them was annoyingly headless thanks to Sakura. Shino confirmed he'd drained chakra by avoiding the scales and looking for patches of flesh.
Analyzing the scales and modifications did little to explain anything though, they weren't like any kind of animal known of by Shizune at least. With no other ideas she thanked Shino for his help and sent him away, deciding she'd just have to do some research and ask Tsunade for some actual scientists to assist with figuring out what Orochimaru had done.
Sakura noticed a skull was at her shrine when she got home, she recalled the only person she'd told about the idea was Kiba and couldn't help but smile. She wasn't sure why he was so fine with the idea, but placed the skull of her most recent kill next to it.
It was only two skulls behind the offering box, but it gave the shrine a rather morbid feel. Sakura decided she liked it, although she supposed she should explain it to her parents so they didn't freak out too much. They were probably still going to freak out though.
Ino stared at Naruto as he entered the flower shop her clan owned, wondering if someone was injured on his last mission. She considered what she'd heard about who went, but figured the other blonde wouldn't be getting a flower for Shino. Maybe. Actually she wasn't sure, he still seemed into girls but she'd heard some rumors about his interest in their old academy sensei.
"Hey, Ino-chan, what flower symbolizes lustful desire?" Naruto asked obliviously.

Ino sighed, "Roses are generally associated with that kind of passion." she answered, seeing as Naruto wouldn't listen to reason in her mind. Maemi wondered how much it would take to corrupt the young Yamanaka.
"Two rose bouquets then." Naruto decided.
"You shouldn't just fill a bouquet with only one flower!" Ino snapped, her flower arrangement lessons flaring up in that moment.
Naruto frowned, "Well put white lilies in one and," he paused to consider Karin, "red lilies in the other?" he asked.
Ino rolled her eyes, "You have no idea what you're doing, white lilies are symbolic of spiritual rejuvenation, purity, and commitment. They're popular for weddings or as a gift to someone in mourning." she lectured, "Red lilies symbolize romantic love, determination, and hard work." she explained in the same lecturing tone.
Naruto frowned, "Oh, well, both for both then I guess." he decided.
Ino's left eye twitched slightly but she kept herself under control, "Fine." she grumbled, figuring a sale was a sale, "Pink lilies are also symbolic of femininity, love, and adoration, so I guess they'd fit with the one for Karin better than white lilies." she advised, deciding that if she was going to make a sale then it would be a good one, "I can build these two bouquets around roses at the center, hiding the thorns and keeping the meaning similar but distinct." she informed, "I'll add some others so it doesn't seem so barren."
Naruto stared at the girl in surprise for a moment before he grinned, "Wow, if you aren't just making stuff up then you're really good at this!" he praised, "I'll take those then, thanks Ino-chan." he said gratefully as he pulled out his purse, "Oh, any flowers mean gratitude?" he asked.
"Yellow lilies work for that usually." Ino said, not bothering to explain the details of why as she added camellias to both bouquets, begonias to Karin's, and a few bleeding hearts to the edges of Hinata's.
"I'll take one yellow lily separate from the bouquets then." Naruto decided, grinning happily as Ino finished the bouquets and charged him for the flowers. To her surprise the horned blonde handed her the yellow lily along with the required money, "Thanks again, Ino-chan!" Naruto said with a laugh as he left the store with the two bouquets.
Ino stared at the flower for a moment, raising an eyebrow as she smirked, "When did that idiot become such a charmer?" she wondered to herself with a shake of her head, "A shame he's such a pervert." she sighed, but she did keep the flower. It would be rude to sell a gift.
Tsunade frowned as she read Sasuke's request for medical leave, it was almost fine but it didn't list how he got the injury. Only that it was eye related, which was concerning for a few reasons. She decided to send an Anbu to check him, which confirmed his was at home and wearing a bandage over his left eye.
Having confirmed the Uchiha was indeed home and resting the Hokage decided to approve the leave, but left to check on him personally. Regardless of how rude he could be, the dojutsu was a valuable asset to the village.
Sasuke looked rather ungrateful, downright displeased even, to receive a visitor, "Can I help you?" he asked with barely any politeness.
Tsunade reminded herself that his clan had been practically massacred in front of him to remain calm, "I'm here to check on you, brat." she answered sternly, "Someone like you getting an eye injury is a bit of a big deal." she pointed out.
Sasuke sighed, "I figured," he grumbled, as if he expected the visit but didn't want it, "my remaining eye is fine-" he tried to assure but his choice of wording set off immediate alarm bells in the head of the Hokage.
"Remaining?" Tsunade asked, interrupting the young Uchiha, "What happened?" she demanded to know.
Sasuke groaned, "Damn it, Aoki." he grumbled, "Look, it's private business, my remaining eye will be even better than my old dojutsu." he answered and Tsunade's eye widened, "Besides, according to Aoki my kids will still have two eyes and Sharingan." he assured, deciding to leave out that Aoki usually tended to append those statements with a 'probably'.
Tsunade wasn't sure if she liked what she was deducing, but left Sasuke be and returned to her own business. The Hokage found it oddly chilling to realize how little she actually understood about Daemons, especially if they could modify Kekkei Genkai.
Maito Gai knew he wasn't perfect, but he generally tried to be a good sensei. Sure he tended to show a little bit of favoritism to Lee, but the boy really needed the extra help and had truly blossomed under his tutelage. Lee was the only one of his students to get the Omote Renge down after all.

Karin's eyes widened at the bouquet she was being handed, "It's lovely..." she murmured, cheeks tinged pink as she recognized the meanings behind the flowers easily enough.
"You coming?" Naruto asked, "I want to invite you both over to my apartment." he added a little bit more quietly with a sly grin that made Karin's cheeks match her hair. Not willing to be outpaced by the Hyuga girl, Karin nodded and followed Naruto.
Unfortunately it didn't seem Hinata or Neji were checking the shrine when they got there, so Naruto had to knock on the door and ask for Hinata. After a solid fifteen minutes of waiting the Hyuga girl came out in a flustered rush, "I'm so sorry! No one told me you were here until Neji-niisan noticed you waiting out here and informed me." she apologized with a deep bow, clearly embarrassed by her family.
Naruto frowned, "Damn, sorry some of your family are still jerks." he grumbled before holding out the bouquet Ino had readied for her, "I bought you this, want to come hang out?" he offered with a grin.
Hinata eagerly accepted her bouquet, "Of course!" she agreed, "Where are we going?" she asked, becoming increasingly okay with having Karin around as time went on.
Naruto's grin turned into a coy smirk, "My bed." he answered, offering both girls an arm each. Karin thought she'd have the advantage having already been told, but to her surprise Hinata eagerly latched onto Naruto's left arm without missing a beat. The red haired Uzumaki pouted but took the right arm.
Kin looked up from her little orange book as Naruto entered the apartment with both Hinata and Karin on either arm, "Alright, I'm out." she decided as they all left their sandals at the door, not wanting to be within ear shot of whatever that were about to be doing. Maemi noticed more than that, the man was downright pleased for some reason, "I can afford it." Naruto answered with a shrug.
Hiashi nodded, "I will require six million ryo, for the marriage of Hinata Hyuga into the Uzumaki clan." he said carefully, and when Naruto nodded to show there were no problems Maemi was stunned by the surge of joy she felt from the head of the Hyuga considering he gave no outward response, "Then feel free to send the money whenever is convenient for you, Naruto-san." he added, "As a formerly prestigious clan it would be quite unfitting for you to take the Hyuga name, and I will not insult you by insisting Hinata take the Juin usually placed on members of the branch house." he continued.

Hiashi nodded in response, a slight smile tugging at his lips again before he squashed it, "Yes, if that is all then good day." he answered, "Hinata-chan, feel free to move in with your fiance, I'll let you two sort out a proper ceremony with each other when you're ready but I expect to be invited." he finished dismissively.
As soon as he was alone Hiashi smirked, he didn't fully understand these Konton no Kami but the Kajo no Kami had solved many problems and initiated a plan he hadn't expected to bear fruit until Hinata was much older. Now his eldest daughter was beyond the reaches of the elders who were sticklers for tradition, and Hanabi was safe from being put in the branch house.

Kin raised an eyebrow, "I really don't care, but okay." she said lazily, going back to reading.

Shikamaru nodded, "I've got everything figured out already, marry an average girl, have a couple of kids, retire from active duty once the oldest is becoming genin, and enjoy my retirement for the rest of my life." he said plainly. Aoki informed Sasuke that the Nara would need way more ambition than that to appeal to Tzeentch, but he was too hopeful to appeal to Nurgle.
The Uchiha was pretty sure not everyone needed to align to one of the gods, and he wasn't great at small talk, "Well I can't fault your dreams I guess, but why are you two here?" he asked, cutting to the point.
"Curiosity." Choji answered with a shrug, "Ino is freaking out over the whole Konton Gundan thing, but she's too scared of Sakura to do much about it except train." he explained, "So what's with the mirrors?" he asked.
Sasuke raised an eyebrow at the news about Ino but shrugged at the question, "They help keep things in perspective, to visualize how others see you and compare it to how you see yourself, or how you want to be seen." he explained, they were just regular mirrors so far.
Choji nodded, "Cool man," he said before deciding to stop tiptoeing around the elephant in the room, "so, uh, what happened with your left eye?" he asked curiously.
Sasuke frowned as he considered how to answer that, "I still have it." he answered, technically not a lie even if it wasn't technically in the socket, "I'd rather not talk about it." he added honestly.
Jiraiya entered through the window of the Hokage office, raising an eyebrow at the bottle of sake on the desk, "Hey, Tsunade-hime, found something in Ta no Kuni." he greeted, figuring he better start with business fast.
The Godaime Hokage nodded, showing she was ready to listen, "Report." she ordered, mostly for the sake of protocol even if her old teammate wasn't intent on following it himself.
The white haired old man pulled out a scroll and unfurled it to show a storage fuin, with a surge of chakra he unsealed a rather large metal round shield. It was a black metal thing, with an odd steel rune similar but distinct from the one on Sakura's forehead. Namely it was missing certain spokes, and was less intricate.
Tsunade frowned as she inspected it, "I'll have Sasuke brought her to see if Aoki can explain this," she decided, "but what do you already know?" she asked as an Anbu left to summon the young Uchiha.
Jiraiya shrugged, "It's odd, the metal should be the same kind of cast iron as most black iron tools, like kunai and shuriken, but it's far less brittle despite being of similar hardness. It's also warm to the touch, and as near as I can tell it has chakra of its own." he explained, clearly at a loss for what it actually was.
"Any idea about the symbol?" Tsunade asked with concern.
"I saw more of the same around this artisan clan around Ta no Kuni, and apparently the place is Oto no Kuni now." Jiraiya continued, "Orochimaru took the whole place over, the same Daimyo is in charge but who knows if it's really him or not at this point. We can't exactly go pointing accusations even if we are at war." he pointed out.
Tsunade inspected the shield herself, "Odd, most don't bother with tate, and the design is nothing like those used by the samurai of Tetsu no Kuni." she mused, even then the samurai themselves only bothered with heavier metal armor and shields due to the quality and quantity of the iron they had in their land, hence the name. Even Tsuchi no Kuni had less quality despite having near the same quality.
Soon enough Sasuke responded to the summons, "What is-" he began in an annoyed tone that almost made Tsunade want to reprimand him before he saw the shield, "Oh." he deadpanned, staring at the odd rune, "Aoki I'm not reciting all that." he grumbled, cocking his head to the side to allow the Fearling to manifest.
The Imp bulged from Sasuke's neck flesh, flushing it with chakra and blood as it stretched the skin from the Juin, "I didn't expect this," he began with a frown, "that's the rune of a more minor Konton no Kami; Gyokai no Kami, Hi no Kami, Don'yoku no Kami, Yokuatsu no Kami, Yami no Chichi." the Fearling explained.
Neither Tsunade or Jiraiya liked the idea of Orochimaru making use of a minor deity with titles like those.
