DISCLAIMER I DO NOT OWN NARUTO
Yuko Nara was the eldest of Shindo Nara's offspring and the heir to the clan leader. Most elders in the clan were outraged that a woman will inherit the leadership, because for them Nara women belonged to their homes, taking care of their children, the crops and their deer.
The heiress always proved them wrong, her father later admitted that he was one of those ill minded men that thought women couldn't do more, until he fell in love with the most amazing woman. His wife, who had passed away giving birth to their youngest son, had quite a temper and always backed him up in front of any person who dared to question him (when he was right, when he was wrong she was the first to stop him). She was strong too, she liked to train with him, she had asked him to teach her some basic ninjutsu to protect their children and she was a quick learner.
When their first daughter was born, the moment his mother in law put her on his arms, he was filled with a new resolve: She was going to be as strong as her mom, and he would never make a difference in gender for her. If she wanted to be a ninja he will give his life for her.
As it was expected, Yuko grew as a fine young lady who mastered ninjutsu at a very young age. She liked to mimic his father when she was 3 years old, and that's when the man realized she was born to be a Ninja. At 12 she already could match any young Nara soldier with their Shadow technique, and by the time she was 18 she had overpassed her father.
Shindo wanted to leave the Clan under her care, but the council still didn't want a woman to be head, so they said she'll have to wait to turn 21. When she did, they said she was obliged to get married before inheriting. She refused every suitor she was presented, because she knew once she picked one, that would be the one who ruled for the council and she will be relegated to be a wife.
But her father wasn't getting any younger and battles with the Hagoromo Clan were more and more dreadful. One day a messenger from some newly formed ninja and civilian village arrived with an invitation to join them.
He had started to feel weak, and he couldn't go to battles anymore. Yuko thought that was odd because he was still a young man to be feeling that way. Shindo convinced the council and sent a letter to this new village, requesting for representatives to speak about a possible merging. But he could never receive them though…
