Foresight, defence, domestic happiness.
It was no understatement to say that Terra hated the cold. Of course, that wasn't to say that she was overly fond of hot, but cold—
Cold made her teeth chatter, and her lips to turn an unattractive share of blue. Cold made her skin break out in goosebumps. Cold made her hands shake, her legs shake, her whole body shake, and if that wasn't bad enough, there was nothing that she could make grow. Therefore, Terra felt more than justified when the sight of a single snowflake was enough to make her flee.
"I-I'm getting a j-jacket!" she stuttered out, as though anyone cared to listen. Usopp and Luffy were already cheering and trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues, and Sanji had darted into the kitchen the moment it started snowing to make them hot cocoa. She was able to dash towards her and Nami's shared room without interruption, her knees already knocking together. This temperature would call for The Jacket.
Climbing aboard Luffy's ship those few weeks ago, Terra hadn't a single possession to her name. Even the clothes on her back were too well-worn to be salvaged. There had been no choice but to accept Nami's offer of a loan— since repaid with welcome interest— and her new crew-mate had even been generous enough to help Terra in selecting a complete new wardrobe. Still, almost all of Terra's possessions would still fit in a suitcase; that is, other than her beloved plants, and her unexpectedly beloved jacket.
Before The Jacket, Terra hadn't thought that Zoro was a particularly kind or thoughtful man. Zoro was blunt and playfully malicious, and he held nothing back. There had been more taunts and insults shared between the two of them than real conversation, and yet—
"Don't get that one," he had said, his gaze far away from the beautiful red coat in Nami's hands, and rather pointedly away from Terra. He huffed, and accurately pointed out a dark green parka with a fur-lined hood without turning his gaze. "You said you get cold easily, right? That one would be warmer. Or whatever. I'm leaving now."
He had been right, of course, and Terra had followed his advice after the two girls had stopped laughing about his flight from the shop. It was a moment Terra was deliriously grateful for as she tugged her treasured Jacket over her thickest sweater. The sweater was one that Terra had picked out herself and the entire crew— save for Sanji, wonderful, blind Sanji— agreed was the most hideous thing they had ever seen.
Sure, it was an interesting shade of green, and sure, the yellow stitching might have been a bit garish, but it was cozy. And it was hers. She couldn't always go around taking people's advice.
Satisfied, Terra stepped into the hallway, and immediately into a pair of crossed arms.
"I thought we agreed to throw that thing overboard," drawled Zoro. His eyes were pointed towards, towards the column of her sweater visible beneath her undone jacket.
Terra sniffed and raised her nose into the air. "Stop looking at my chest, perv."
Zoro's eyes snapped up. His skin tinged bright red despite the prominent scowl on his face. "Like there's anything there to look at," he grumbled.
To Terra's delight, even his ears were turning pink. She wondered what she would have to do to make steam come out of them.
As though sensing her thought and disapproving of her joy, Zoro reached out to grab the zipper of Terra's jacket. He tugged it upwards with a swift jerk until it reached Terra's chin, and then yanked her hood over her face to hide her laughing grin. He spoke loudly over her indignant yelp,
"It's snowing, isn't it? Let's go get your damn plants already before they freeze."
A gasp tore from Terra's throat and suddenly she was scrambling to drag Zoro outside. "Zoro! My plants! What are we waiting for?!" Still blinded by her hood, she led them face-first into a door-frame. "Ouch!"
She didn't need her sight to know that Zoro was shaking his head behind her. "Idiot."
